pipsicles EWCM is egg white cerival mucus and you get it for when you are most fertile with the last day it appears supposedly being the day you ovulate. To identify it from other CM you will see that its clear like raw egg white and it will stretch up from 1 to 10 inches (aparently!)Not everyone gets it and the number of days you get it for varies but it is ideal enviroment for sperm so it is a good thing.

Sorry if you knew all this but I thought i'd detail if for anyone else who is wondering.

Sorry you have the nausea too. I hope the cramps are your body making room for a baby and AF stays away.

chico193 · 01/04/2010 20:33

Congratulations mumnerves.

I am driving myself crazy symptom spotting now. I have felt sick the last two mornings and it was worse this morning. Also been ravenously hungry but that could equally well be tiredness. Boobs are a little sore but I always get that so can't really take it as a symptom. Have also had some cramps, but also bloating/gas as well so don't know whether they are both symptoms or one is just being caused by the other. I am 11dpo, due AF on Sunday but my cycles do vary and have people coming to stay so will wait longer to test, probably another week.

haloflo · 01/04/2010 21:59

After research I've decided it's just a symptom of PMS. I hate the 2ww!

CaveMum · 01/04/2010 22:09

I quite like the grapefruit juice too! Not on it at the mo but I did the grapefruit diet a few years ago and lost half a stone in 2 weeks so I'll always be a fan!

claireinthecommunity · 01/04/2010 22:12

Just a quick evening catch up read for me, but I wanted to post a response to Cavemum too!:

No, I have never frequented De Nero's, but I have heard of it!. I grew up in another area of Cambridgeshire and only moved to these parts around six years ago. Maybe our paths have crossed, as another poster posted (sorry can't remember who now) and maybe they will again in the future . I'm going to be looking at all females around here of a certain age differently now

Hey all, we'll have to come up with a frolickers secret code, so we can spot each other in the street or wherever .

How was the wedding bellaby?

Good night all (loving the bunny ears!!).

cherrycobbler · 01/04/2010 23:38

hello all - survived work and all ready for the four day weekend - hoorah!

In less good news - AF started for me today Cycle 3 is a lucky cycle though, right? Sigh. I made my DH go out for a meal as was feeling bit down about it, even though I had previously thought I was relaxed about this cycle. At least I only POAS once rather than the 2000 times I did last cycle, must have spent a fortune.

mumsnerves CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! That is fab fab fab news - I did say you were due some good luck!! YAY!!

night night xx

  • claire, loving the bunny ears too!
aly323 · 02/04/2010 00:08

Hello everyone. I'm just going to post the same note on each of the threads, but things are looking shaky for me. I'm probably going to go into hiding for a bit until I know either way. Please send me all the good energy you can.

cherrycobbler · 02/04/2010 00:10

Ariesgirl · 02/04/2010 00:26

Bah, cherry what a pisser...

MrsWajs · 02/04/2010 06:27

Quick post before work as I missed yesterday and seem to have missed loads again!!

Congrats to mumsnerves!!! So happy for you.

And fingers crossed for you aly I hope everything will be ok.

Still no AF here, am now on CD45 today and going to make another Dr's appointment as I was advised to at my last appointment. Have done a urine sample for them to test as sick of wasting my own getting BFNs. Technically if I count from my last AF - i would be about 7 weeks pg so starting to give up on that theory now as surely a test would have confirmed it by now?? Had very slight cramping again last night but nothing again since. Am beginning to get really frustrated now as my charting website tells me had my periods come and gone as usual I would have been ovulating again now so feel like I'm missing a month S'not fair.

Also wee question for anyone else who temps, I've been trying it the last few days but have only been able to get 2 days temps as I don't sleep well and keep waking up at like 2 nd 3 am, obviously can't temp then as it's not usual waking time but then I am interrupting my sleep so can't test when I do wake up proper as haven't hadthe required uninteruppted 4 hours!! Any suggestions??

felicityFlick · 02/04/2010 06:29

Spanishlady I've popped you in the list, I hope I have your CD right. Same to you pipsicles

Thinking of you aly I hope everything is ok. I'm sending you all the positive energy I can. xxx

mrswajs How early do you get up that you haven't had 4 hours sleep after waking up at 2?! Clearly I am spoilt working 9-5 and within a 5 minutes walk from work. I think 3 hours sleep is the necassary amount to get an accurate reading. Would you sleep enough for that?

cherry Sorry about AF. I hope DH looked after you last night and you had a nice large glass of vino with your meal.

chalky Your DH sounds lovely and it sounds like SWI was perfectly timed. Lets hope so. Welcome to the 2ww.

wannamummy I didn't fess up about posting to my DP at first and even now I won't let him read my posts. I've told him we talk about gross womens pantie stuff and he wouldn't like it. That put him straight off.

wannamummy · 02/04/2010 11:36

well, i'm confused... I tested this morning for LH, and it was a very strong reading, but I have no EWMC....

dates would be about right i suppose but last month LH did not appear strong until CD16/17

any ideas? Could this still be regulation of cycle and hormones adjusting?

haloflo · 02/04/2010 11:50

I take it you just came off the pill? I think this can have an affect on ewcm. A positive opk sounds good but they are not 100%. I think you are best going at it (like rabbits!) asap anyway. As long as your cm is erm wet & lubricative (sorry if tmi) there is a chance you can get pg. Keep looking out for ewm though in case you are ov'ing later in your cycle.

pipsicles · 02/04/2010 12:32

I don't think I even ever get EWCM!!! Guessing this is okay, but makes it more difficult to tell when's good to go - I'll have to pay more attention next month, when AF finally arrives - maybe I'll try the grapefruit juice too. I may be outcast for this, but I love the stuff!!!

I've spent hours this morning reading back over the thread before I joined and still haven't got all the way through! Loved some of the stories though - particularly the cushions and the window cleaner!!! I have to admit that I've also stuffed jumpers/cushions etc, but no-one's caught me (yet)!

I was also surprised to see that green tea isn't good for TTC?!?! It's all I've been drinking since we started as I thought it was better than regular tea?! Sorry if this has already been mentioned further back, but can anyone tell me more/advise me?

I hate all this waiting around and getting anxious that we have to go through - some poeple make it all look so easy. My mum had me by complete accident at age 16, then my sister had two abortions a few years ago, so I'm merrily thinking I shouldn't have any problems. Not that I think that starting cycle 5 indicates problems, but it's still frustrating!!! I know others have been waiting far longer than me for AF (a whole 2 days!), but it's doing my head in! I've decided I'm going to POAS tomorrow morning and if that's BFN, then I'll just have to forget about it this month and chill out to try and make things get back to normal - perhaps do some exercise to shift a few pounds (should prolly do that anyway really!)

Anyway - hope you're all enjoying your Good Friday. I'm still in my dressing gown, lazing around! DH and I have been playing guitar hero on the ps3 for a lot of the morning - I've just left him singing and playing to the Beatles!

wannamummy · 02/04/2010 12:33

thank you haloflo, came off the pill in January so really pleased cycle has come back straight away.

not sure if i'm overly symptom spotting just because we've just started TTC or if i'm always going to be like this until i get BFP!

pipsicles · 02/04/2010 12:38

wannamummy I was symptom spotting from the first cycle, thought I'd get better, but actually got worse as I convinced myself that I am this month - Big Style! Currently waiting for AF to tell me otherwise.

I think our bodies(or brains) are against us and make us feel things that aren't there, or make pretend ones, like Braxton Hicks for conceiving!!!

felicityFlick · 02/04/2010 12:39

Morning all,

haloflo- I don't let my dh see my posts either. He says (jokingly) that I am 'keeping secrets from him' Never thought of saying that we talk about gross pantie stuff- will try it next time! Sorry you're feeling so sick at least you're noticing similar patterns in your cycles if thats any consolation... AND... you never know it could be an early preg sign. You are very good at the list- hope that compliment cheers you up

kkas It was me who said about grapefruit juice! I got my thermometer from amazon. I think it was only 1.99 and seems to be ok.

cavemum- I too have a special place in my heart for grapefruit juice as I did that hideous egg and grapefruit diet when I was at uni. I have been drinking it all last month and this month and have been enjoying it so I must be a freak too!

Sorry about AF cherry MrsWajs- I temp but am not sure what to suggest. I will have a look at what TCOYF says- flo... any ideas?! There is a thread on conception called 'Charters Anonymous' maybe post your query there and see what they say?

hermya- Can't wait to come and claim my biscuit! It has gone so quickly until your scan! I'm glad the time is going quickly for you too as often people say that the time goes slow when they are pregnant. Please come back and tell us about your scan You did do well to pass that hideous driving course regardles sof if you were pregnant or not!

spanishlady has AF stayed away?!
chico keeping my fingers crossed for you

wannamummy I agree with what flo said to you and you're right that sometimes you cycle can vary after the pill etc.

Love the idea of a secret code Claire!

felicityFlick · 02/04/2010 12:42

Hi pipsicles- sorry cross post with you.

Hope your POAS is fruitful tomorrow! Come and let us know. How long have you been off the pill for? Glad we have another grapefruit juice fan !

CaveMum · 02/04/2010 12:48

Hi pipsicles it was me that mentioned the Green Tea thing so I'll explain:

In the book "What to Expect Before You're Expecting" by Heidi Murkoff it says:

"that cup of green tea may be brimming with health benefits but should you go green when you're trying to make a baby? Maybe not. Green tea decreases the effectiveness of colic acid (ironically found in green leafies), a vitamin that's vital to the healthy development of your soon-to-be-baby, and one of the nutrients that you should be getting your quota of during your baby prep phase. So it's smart to limit yourself to a cup a day while you're TTC or switch to a black brew."

I don't think it's trying to say it's really bad for you, and as the others have said if you took EVERY but of advice people try to offer you will end up existing on noting but water!

DH said something I hadn't thought of "The Chinese drink a lot of green tea and they don't seem to have problems having babies!"

Try not to stress too much!

Kaloki · 02/04/2010 13:24

aly Really hope you are ok, am thinking of you!

OP posts:
pipsicles · 02/04/2010 14:26

Thanks cavemum! Your DH has a very valid point!!! Honestly - it's a minefield out there - stop drinking black tea and coffee cos there's too much caffine, don't drink green tea cos it stops vitimins working properly - so !!! I like white tea - that might be okay!?

I'm trying not to stress too much, but if there's something I could be doing to help, then I'd like to know about it and try it out!

FelicityFlick - I came off the pill in November after being on it for the best part of 8 years, and my first natural period was December. I was well chuffed that I slipped straight back into it all, although my cycle is much longer than I ever remember it being before.

MrsWajs · 02/04/2010 15:26

haloflo been getting up at 05.50 for work but sometimes can wake up at 2, 3 & 4 before that so never getting a full 3-4 hours It's very frustrating!!

Couldn't get Dr's appointment today cus it's Good bloody Friday!! So did yet another HPT and another negative result!!!!!

I'm just goin to forget about it now and assume I am not pg and just wait for something to happen.
