Didn't work out for me, my periods went all over the place and got really painful. And haven't recovered since.

OP posts:
Ariesgirl · 26/03/2010 22:36

Dunno where it is Dinky. Maybe was on the previous Frolickers thread? The disturbing things about it was it wasn't old wives' tales, it was actually all out of books! Real, proper fertility books. So I decided to ignore them all apart from the clearly sensible ones such as don't get wasted, inject heroin and the like.

chalky3 · 27/03/2010 09:46

Mrs Wajs sorry to hear about DPs mishap. You're having a hard time of it just now.Things can only get better, there must be something good waiting for you just around the corner.

Dinkytinky I feel the same re. the pill. Though the irony of life would have me getting pregnant on some new form of contraception almost immediately! Not sure I need to worry about it much though as I seem to have inbuilt contraception just now

haloflo · 27/03/2010 10:10

Sounds like I missed a bit of a party last night, lots of wine flowing!

I hope your DP is ok MrsWajs & he recovers quickly. Least you paid for your holiday & you can look forward to that. When/where are you going?

Kaloki Ouch with that mirror, I hope you managed to salvage your coffee table and you get rid of all that glass. I hope the cramps are good ones and its worth being kept up. Are you testing soon? Whats your longest cycle?

Ariesgirl Happy first day of the season! Hopefully work will keep your mind off the 2ww. If any symptons do surface though be sure to let us know....

Dinky Is AF over for you now? RE the pill i'm going straight back on the pill after my baby is born (well as soon as I can). I hate the ups and downs and aches and pains my real cycle brings. My AF is much more painful not on the pil. Luckily my last one started on the weekend but I would struggle to concentrate at work with the dreaded cramps.

aly Sorry about temp drop. I hope you are enjoying your quiet house and can relax this weekend. Sounds like the docs went well and they are going to move things forward for you. How long will you have to wait for insurance to get medication? and what are soy isoflavones?

papertiger Sorry you were told nothing new at your appointment. Maybe evilgiraffe will get answers next time and can share them?

Felicity Not sure if i've said it already but congrats on the shorter cycle!

Not much new from me today. I was a bit mad at DP on thursday as he went to the pub straight from work & although he was home by 8 he'd had a few and was sleepy. Fortunatly he made it up to me last night. Been cramping in my lower back last couple of days & with the EWCM arriving yesterday I'm hoping we got the timing right. I'm going to make sure we keep going though in case ov is delayed.

Oh and in case anyone is wondering my OPK's haven't arrived & amazon are now telling me they are arriving monday. I can't exactly email them and tell them that i'm CD14 and they are just too late but thats what im shouting in my head. I decided against getting some CB ones from boots and will save the £20 for tests beer if/when AF arrives!

Anyone POAS a stick this weekend? March is looking like a quiet month compared to the impressive February.
calligraphy, stiffybyng and cherrycobbler any news?

cherrycobbler · 27/03/2010 12:16

Hello all !!

Pretty sure my ov was delayed this month so am only in week one of the 2ww. Definitively no symptoms at all (unlike last month when boobs ballooned and felt sick, and was not even tiniest bit preggers). So will be POAS next weekend. At least I can have a nice easter egg after BFN.

I am feeling a bit guilty as went out for dinner with friends last night and had two glasses of bubbly.

Aly - glad doc appt went well, though sorry about AF arriving. Hope you enjoy having the house back to yourself!

MrsW - OMG re husband!! Hopefully you will have used up all your bad luck and only very good (BFP) things will happen from now on. And you will have to be very careful in your SWI with an injured DP though!!

Paper sorry doc was a bit useless in offering any help. Must be v frustrating just waiting.

Halo good luck with the SWI'ing!!

Sorry to everyone I've missed, all going so fast! Happy Saturdays xx

Kaloki · 27/03/2010 12:51

haloflo My longest cycle so far is 36, so don't really want to test till next Saturday, whether I hold out is another matter. Still cramping and still no AF

OP posts:
wannamummy · 27/03/2010 15:13

afternoon ladies, i'm new to mumsnet and just started TTC #1 with DH. not only is prospect planning TTC scary, so are all these threads....

luckyseven · 27/03/2010 15:22

don't be scared wannamummy join us!

We're really friendly, sometimes a bit crazy but this thread def makes ttc make sense.

Just let us know your stats and we can add you to the list and hopefully in no time you will be graduating from the first time frolickers.

so my stats are luckyseven TTC#1 cycle 8 UCL25-6 CD10

so we just need to know what cycle you are on, your usual cycle length (if you know it yet) and which cycle day you are on (with CD1 being the first day of your period)

Go on ......

wannamummy · 27/03/2010 15:29

Thank you luckyseven!
Cycle will be 2, UCL 28days and CD5....

by cycle i take it you mean number of periods since TTC?...

luckyseven · 27/03/2010 17:18

wannamummy yep number of periods since starting TTC

Girls i am updating the list in word for tom ready to cut and paste, i have never done it before so about time i took my turn (and i get to update my cd as i was 1 behind)

Think i ovd yesterday and for the first time it looks like my CBFM and temperatures will match up. woo hoo! Also, I held a baby yesterday when a colleague brought in her 4 week old girl - i am sure there is some wives tale that if you hold a baby on the day of ov you get pg? no?

unfortunately last nights swi was during a full-on shouting match in the street by our scumbag neighbours! (just re read that and to clarify we were in our bed no out in the street with the chav neighbours!

aly323 · 27/03/2010 17:23

Haloflo, soy isoflavones are supposed to be a sort of natural clomid. You take them the same days as clomid and they trick your body into producing extra estrogen). They are supposed to help if you don't ovulate or ovulate late in your cycle (as I do). However, I've changed my mind about doing them this month since DH's insurance will start on 4/1 (Yay!!!). He should get his SA within a week of that. This means we'll do his test asap and probably begin meds next cycle as I'm cd 1 today . I think I'll stay natural for our first visit to the fertility clinic since I was told they might want to do an HSG. The last visit was with my HMO doctor who did blood work and referred us out to a fertility clinic. I should get a clinic appointment in a couple weeks and will leave my first appointment with our diagnosis and plan of action.

I'm now getting a little stressed by the whole thing again. The doctor from my HMO says that the clinic will probably go straight to injectibles since I only get three rounds of meds under my insurance, this also means they might go straight to IUI to improve our chances. Also, I'm now in the position where I might need to consider genetic testing to see if I actually have the BRCA 2 gene (I have a family history of cancers). I want to know if I have the gene before I get too far into fertility med land. It just seems crazy to have to do all this when my eggs are good, my levels look good and I ovulate. It doesn't help that I'm the type of person who is never able to just live in the moment, I'm always preparing for the worst.

Now, I have to consider asking my job to move me to a place that might be more convenient for doctor's appointments and less stressful in general. This is kind of frowned upon, but it seems that iui requires multiple dr's appts a week for ultrasounds, inseminations, etc.

I just can't believe that I have to think about all of this...

On another unrelated note. Puppy got adopted yesterday, but DH found an elderly dog in the mountains this morning (we're trying to find his home), and my neighbor dropped off two intact, insane, young male dogs who obviously escaped from a backyard. They don't have collars. Now we have to figure out what to do with all of them. We're reluctant to take the dogs to certain shelters because they'll be euthanized very quickly. What happened to my peace and quiet?

Sorry this was another long "all about me post." My mind has just been working overtime on this stuff.

CaveMum · 27/03/2010 17:42

'waves hello' to wannamummy
I'm pretty new here too, but this bunch don't seem too bad so am sticking around

luckyseven · 27/03/2010 17:53

ok I have updated the list ready for tomorrow and had a look through this thread to see if everyone is accounted for!

kurlyvoice and katzen you don't seem to be on the list currently but if you want to be added then let us know by posting.
kurlyvoice i know you have been having a hard time lately so if you are checking in from time to time we're thinking of you!

Bellaby · 27/03/2010 18:24

Oh my goodness can't believe it's been a week since I was last on here! So much news to catch up on... that'll teach me.

Hope everyone is well. My week of TTC as a result of being in the 'high fertility' zone according to my CBDM didn't quite go according to plan. Turned into more of a week of going out for drinks and working long hours! Still I'm not detered as still in the 'high fertile' zone but not yet showing as peak fertility so hopefully there is still time for me to make up for it. I think the monitor takes 2 cycles to get more accurate at when you are in high & peak fertility modes.

What sort of signals other than EWCM do people feel when they ovulate?

Hermya - thanks for checking up on us. Can't believe you are approaching 9 weeks already - time is really flying!

Ariesgirl- can sympathise with your wine thoughts. I was very good for cycle 1 but now I'm back to my old ways and wanting to enjoy the odd glass (or 2 or 3 or bottle or 2...). Hope that this is a very successful tourist season for your business. Hopefully the forecasters have it right (for once) in saying this is going to be a very hot summer!

Ariesgirl and Dinkytinky - Cavemum also mentioned my name too so perhaps we share the same name???
I did actually have a brief discussion with DH about names -he didn't like any of the names I've always liked the sound of. However not going to think about it again until BFP arrives.

Cavemum - well done on the MIL points. I'm seeing mine tomorrow so might do something similar! Although having said that she got both DH & I ones last year although she didn't get around to giving them to us (despite seeing us frequentyly) until October!!!

Dinky - glad your exam went well. Not sure if you are UK based but if so I hope your PhD means you can make better sense about what needs to be done to get our economy back on track than the politicians! Politics is starting to drive me around the bend and we still have another month until the election

zippys - are you in media or involved in economics? Budget was very nothingness - obviously predictable.

Papertiger -sorry about the arrival of AF on Monday

kkas - sorry to hear you had such a bad day on Tuesday. Hope you are feeling better now. Happy that you are going to start doing something you enjoy with the Cello lessons. xxx

Chalky - hope you are making the most of NWL. I seem to be welling up at all sorts of films at the moment. Watched 2012 yesterday and Harry Brown today - both had some sad bits. I never actually cry but think that's because I stop myself.

FelicityFlick - how long have you lived in HK? My brothers have been over there this week for the Hong Kong Sevens. Hope you are enjoying your holidays so far. Lovely that you are going to get away when your PILs come to stay - anywhere exciting?

MrsWajs - your poor DP. Hope he isn't in too much pain. How long is recovery from that? sounds like it's been a very confusing cycle for you as well - lots of hugs & bottles of wine heading your way- In fact have a Melchizedek of wine!

aly - sounds like you've had a tough week with the puppy and the girls. Hope you have been enjoying yourself since their departure! Glad your appointment went well too.

papertiger -shame your doctor gave you the 6 month advice. Seems like we hear that far too much on here.

Claire - good to see you are still feeling happier x

evilgiraffe - poor you. Hopefully the doctor will be able to shed some light on it. I'm not sure about going to see Alice in Wonderland - films with Johnny Depp in freak me out a little I have to say. But that might just be me not liking him in Charlie & the Chocolate factory and the fact that it ruined the original for me which has always been one of my favourite films.

mumsnervers - a break away in the Lake District sounds wonderful! Thanks for sharing with us - so glad that things got sorted out between you & DH in the TTC plan.

kurlyvoice - keep your chin up.

haloflo - hope the SWI is going according to plan! I paid a fortune for my ov sticks but that's because I'm impatient and don't like to wait. Need to be more organised next time and order well in advance.

kaloki - how was the chav wedding??? sounds like quite a family! And given that you are in 2WW you couldn't even drink through it!

luckyseven - shame about those chav neighbours interupting SWI. Hope next time is more peaceful

cherrycobbler and anyoneI'vemissed - hello

welcome wannamummy

I love the fact that we have so many posters all over the world so there is always things to catch up on when we wake up!

Off for a curry with DH this evening and maybe a sneakly glass of wine!

Looking at our list of graduates it seems March was a bit of a drought months. So we must be due another addition soon - any volunteers?

Phew that was a marathon effort!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Lots of love

Bellaby xxx

Bellaby · 27/03/2010 18:27

sorry that was so long - hope you didn't all fall asleep reading it

Ariesgirl · 27/03/2010 18:27

Hello wannamummy. Bienvenue ici.

CaveMum, you're not new dammit!

Kaloki · 27/03/2010 18:51

bellaby it was even chavier than expected! This will give you all a laugh..

  • the groom's parents wouldn't give him a lift to the wedding, so he turned up late, and because the bride's dad had to give him a lift, the bride was late too
  • no one had bothered to work out what they wanted from the photographer (my DP) so we ended up shoved in a corner (I sat on the floor!) and also hadn't found out that no flash photography was allowed. Dark room + no flash = annoyed photographer + not great photos
  • they had also not told DP where they wanted photos taken

-half the guests were dressed like they were going clubbing, jeans on guys, micro mini skirts on the girls (one girl's dress covered nothing!). Others were wearing hoodies and fleeces. Honestly, aside from the bride and groom, me and DP were the only ones to have made an effort

  • the registrar tried to chat me up in front of DP, then told the bride I was the most beautiful one there. When DP said "you should be complimenting the bride" the bloke said "nah". The bride did look beautiful though.
  • the bride's family and the groom's family cant stand each other, and the groom's family drove to the meal with half empty leaving the bride's family to do several trips. They wouldn't even take the bride and groom
  • apparently there was a fight between a member of each family at the hen night, which has carried on to the wedding
  • in the car park before the meal the guests (from both families) were trying to outdo each other with their car stereos

We left before the meal and before the alcohol got served!! (Although people were drinking champagne from plastic cups in the car park - and I believe some were mixing champagne and lager!!)

So glad to be home! Wonder if the police have been called yet...

wannamummy Welcome, everyone here is lovely, and it's definitely the least scary thread on here

bellaby I cramp during ovulation. Well, usually, this month I think my body is going for "I am, therefore I cramp"

aly323 It sounds so stressful, but hopefully it'll all be worth it! One day you'll look back and know that it was. In the meantime we're all here whenever you need to chat, we all need "me me me" posts once in a while, TTC is stressful at the best of times

luckyseven even if there isn't an old wive's tale, maybe you can start one! Fingers crossed for you If it works then I'm booking in my neighbours darling little boy for next month!

OP posts:
aly323 · 27/03/2010 19:06

Kaloki, I'm hoping your cramping is a good sign. Thanks for the description of the wedding- it provided me with a much needed laugh!!

Big welcome to wannamummy!

Kaloki · 27/03/2010 19:10

aly323 If AF does turn up, I'm off to the doctors, I shouldn't be cramping tis badly and this often. So fingers crossed. Though on the other hand, if I am pregnant and the cramps are related, how long will they go on? [scared]

OP posts:
Ariesgirl · 27/03/2010 19:20

Good luck at the doc's Kaloki. Hope the cramping stops soon.

The wedding sounds hilarious!

Bellaby I think that's the longest and most conscientious thread I've ever read. Well done!

maamalady · 27/03/2010 19:51

Blimey, Kaloki, that wedding sounds quite stressful!

Hope everyone who is having a rubbish time is having an ok weekend.

I am now on CD57, so unless AF turns up in the next few hours I have won my bet with DH (he thought it would be a double-length cycle at 56 days). Still a bit bored with the whole thing, but pleased that I have got my appointment with the doctor booked for Tuesday. I will definitely report back! My doctor is quite friendly so hopefully I'll be able to get her to expand on the "whys" if I get the standard "come back in six months" advice that everyone else seems to be getting. It's also quite irritating for me as I've had a letter telling me to come in for a smear, so that needs to be mid-cycle. Who knows when mid-cycle is?!?!

Calyx · 27/03/2010 20:23

whiteroses big kiss and a hug from me you're soooo nice and you talk soooo much sense plus your bfp was on my birthday. I luv you I'm feeling better this week and spent all today with my sis and my niece so was laughing all day! Now I have to start my washing though! I hope today was a good day for you and no sickness.

mrswaj oh heavens you poor thing and your poor man! Maybe gp should dexa scan him as it does sound like he may have osteoporosis, if so the sooner he is on calcium tablets the better. Do any of his family have it? Lots of sympathy from me xx

Hellooooooo and choccy biccies to all the new people, I'm on the iPhone but am sure I saw a wannamum or somebody? Welcome to the fastest thread and the luckiest too (for bfp's that is....!)

Kaloki lol@the wedding hee heee sounds like you guys made your exit just in time!

I'm in the 2ww still, sore boobies but nowt else to get excited about! I was checking my chart and for the last few cycles I've only had NOT sore boobs for just over a week (between start of af and just before ov). I even wear my bra to bed! Never noticed it when I was on the pill. I'm glad dh is a bottom and not a boob man as he wouldn't be allowed near them for most of the month anyway!

evilgiraffe good luck at the doc on Tuesday. What a looooong cycle for you! Maybe if you arrange the smear then af will arrive that morning!

bellaby your long reply put me to shame so I'm trying to do a longer than my usual! re your question, I sometimes feel one breast bigger than the other for a day or two. Also I feel horny (fairly low libido normally, ach well I'm getting old I suppose!). And I am temping, it does dip a couple of tenths of a degree and then shoots a few above the coverline so I know when it's past. Do you temp? I hope the curry with dh was lovely

aly gosh you have got a lot to worry about, I think you should keep doing 'you you' posts for a while and rant on here, problems shared = halved and all that. You and dh sound lovely looking out for those dogs! Best of luck and also keep us updated on what happens re your tests and stuff x

luckyseven I don't know about the holding baby during ov but sounds good to me.... Will be watching you in a couple of weeks!

cherrycobbler wanted to say love your name! Good luck next weekend

haloflo I feel your pain about hubby coming home tipsy, a few of my planned ambushes have ended badly like that but he often has a horny hangover head on in the morning so I just bide my time lol! I hope your opks arrive soon.

chalky I know what you mean about the inbuilt contraception it will happen for us some day and I believe it'll be the best time when it does happen xx

ariesgirl lol shameless wedding, yes it did give me that image, waiting for kaloki to tell us the gallaghers turned up and torched the cake or something eh! And yes, 2ww-ing is very boring... No wine, trying not to symptom spot or overboard symptom spotting... But when we all have our babies and haven't slept for days and can't even go to the toilet or have a shower without baby attached (my sister's description!) we'll be all nostalgic for these boring days! (helps me sometimes to stop wishing my life away and start appreciating the now!)

well the iPhone is doing well with this but I'm going to try and post this now. I'm sending everyone good karma and apologies to those I missed xx

Kaloki · 27/03/2010 20:28

Oh dear god I should disable internet access, since we had no internet I stopped symptom spotting. Now it's back I can't help it.

So I looked up early pregnancy symptoms and read the constipation is very common. I've barely had a erm, bowel movement in the past week. TMI: only twice.

evilgiraffe I don't think it has to be exactly mid cycle, just when you aren't bleeding. Though your cycle seems as fucked as mine recently, so that's still no help.

OP posts:
Ariesgirl · 27/03/2010 20:33

Blimey kaloki - I didn't know that! TMI coming up - I didn't go for three days and this ended spectacularly yesterday (YEEEEEEUUUUURRRRGGGGHHHH!) Now I have a sciatic type pain in my left lower lumbar region.

No hang on, I'm symptom spotting...
