A really short post from me, we've just got back from our trade fayre (first time I've sat down all day) and before I have a little snooze on the sofa, I wanted to check in and see how MrsWajs got on this morning.

MrsWajs, sorry about the BFN, but as others have already said, it's not over yet!

Will catch up with everyone else either later this evening or tomorrow . Oh, trade fayre went very well .

Sorry to reply to all that's going on-my head is spinning at all the people on here still!

Yes, my name is from Wodehouse. She's DP's favourite girl in Jeeves and Wooster.

Could I ask for advice? I don't have any symptoms I don't think, other than I've had very, very mild but persistent aching in my pelvis since just after ovulation, which isn't normal. It gets worse after sex. I have been wondering... But a few days ago, to my utter shame, I wet the bed (sorry, TMI) so I wonder if it's a weird painless UTI? Any ideas?

Dinkytinky · 21/03/2010 20:18

Hi all sorry I've been wallowing feeling sorry for myself so not been on! Sorry to hear about bfn mrswajslots of cuddles your way, hopefully it will be our month next time! Alsosorry to hear about evillittle witch continuing to be a grotty little troll! Where are you off on holiday? Alot of people seem to concieved on hols!

styffybyng it does sounds alot like a uti- inflamed bladder typeof thing? My sister has had alot of kidneyproblems and she used to get symptoms similar to yours. It could just be something like an inflamed pelvis or something from lots of baby making. Don't be embarrased to go to the doctors though Hun xxxxx

I'm sorry for not covering everyone, revising for an exam so just a quick hello and thankyou for virtual choccies and wine! Xxxx

StiffyByng · 21/03/2010 20:27

Hmmm. I've had lots of cystitis and kidney trouble in the past but never these symptoms. But I think if my period arrives I'll head to the GP. Thanks.

MrsWajs, I'm sorry you got a negative. And also that you're going through contact traumas. We went through absolute hell in residency proceedings, followed by contact wrangles, and have the debt to prove it, so I know exactly how stressful it is. If you'd like some support and advice on the legal way forward, the British Second Wives Club has a great forum full of support.

papertiger · 21/03/2010 20:32

Hi all,

Just to update, now on day 39, no AF. Couldn't wait much longer so did a test this morning but another BFN . So thats it I'm not testing anymore this cycle.
Thinking of going to the doctors too so evilgiraffe would be interested to hear how you get on, good luck! I'm also hoping that the act of arranging an appt will bring it on!

Really frustrated as was obviously hoping that 2010 might be 'the year' but now that can't happen... oh well! Must try harder next time!

cherrycobbler · 21/03/2010 20:36

sorry about the BFN mrswajs, hope you're feeling ok - agree with what has been said, not over till AF comes, and if it does hope you manage to relax and treat yourself.

stiffybyng sorry, no idea what it is but you have nothing to lose by going to the docs - as you say prob an infection, that can be easily treated. better to deal with it now than seeing how it goes and worrying about it.

chalky and calligraphy i think there is a Fertility Conspiracy. Statistically only 20% of couples get pregnant on the first cycle (if that) yet way more than 20% of my close friends/ family have been "happily surprised" by falling pregnant the first time their DH dropped their pants.

And finally - good luck for exam dinky! xxx

Hermya321 · 21/03/2010 21:35

Hello everybody,

Gosh theres so many new people around these parts!! Welcome to all the newbies, this is a very very lucky thread.

I'm nine weeks today and slowly getting over my nausea and am starting to feel like a vaguely normal person again.

Flick I have now remembered how to drive just in case you were wondering.

Mrswajs Sorry about your BFN, but it's not over until the fat lady sings.

Evilgiraffe I thought of you whilst I was at the zoo yesterday and I wondered how you were getting on. I hope you manage to get sorted out soon me dear.

Chalky I think a lot of people do say that they get pregnant at the drop of a hat but in actual fact they do have to try for some time. It took my friends a good few months and I had another friend who took over two years. They both got pregnant in the end though.

Cherry I did laugh at the image of a woman lying in bed, her DH going 'look darling' and her suddenly going 'right then dear, thats enough the sight of it was enough, you don't need to come near me'.

CaveMum · 21/03/2010 21:37

Evening ladies, been suffering with an awful cold this wknd so feeling sorry for myself. DH wasn't much use bless him, saying "It can't be as bad as Man Flu!"

Made the big mistake of popping over to the Baby Names forum this evening. Blimey there are some crazy people out there! What with people making names up, changing spellings of established names and trying to tailor their children into sets ("What name is good for a sister to X?") I'm about ready to bang my head against the wall!

If anyone here finds themselves with some spare time on their hands, I highly recommend this website for a some baby-name-related laughs:

www.notwithoutmyhandbag.com/babynames

Calyx · 21/03/2010 23:03

Hiya stiffy I knew it about your name . If you are numb around your ladybits or your bum go to the hospital, just because there is a (rare) chance your nerves for those muscles may have compression on them and that would need urgent attention. I'm sorry for worrying you if you are numb down there but if you're not and you can control your bladder and bowel then it's probably nothing of course! (sorry again and it is very rare so I feel daft!)

StiffyByng · 21/03/2010 23:36

No, not numb at all, but good to know! Sounds like no one thinks I might be pregnant but that would be a lot to hope for... Hmm, you want a baby? Have a bladder infection!

zippys · 22/03/2010 08:13

Morning, sorry this will have to be a v quick post. Just to let you all know I tested this morning and BFN Although I knew it would be, my heart still sank.

I havent got time to do indiviual messages, but just wanted to give Mrs Waj a ((hug)), hope you are doing ok chick. As the others have said it is not over until AF arrives.

Have to run x

kkas · 22/03/2010 09:15

sorry about BFN zippys you deserve a ((hug)) too. hope you get a chance to take some time to treat yourself to something nice today.

cavemum that's a classic find! (The names page) What on earth are some people ON???? And I quote:

"And now, the Random Letter Family. When we last left the Random Letters, they were trying to name their twin girls, probably produced through Evil Science Somehow Involving Oprah.
Jayln Marie
Ammie Lynne
Kesleigh Abigail
Cydnee Elizabeth
McKayla Mercy

Yes. Please. Mercy.

Brinley Grace
Rebekah Lynne
Ashlee Hope
Makenna Faith
Mackenzie Susan

Susan? Couldn't it at least be Soosynn?

Nikola Kate
Quinn Allyse (or Elise)
Madaline Sarai (not sara)
kaitlyne Nicole
Tayler Emmaleigh

Quinn Allyse, Medycyn Womyn!"

The Soosyn suggestion especially cracked me up. It actually really annoys me, some of the names inflicted on these poor babies. When/if I ever have one they're going to be named something like Rachel or James. Having been a teacher for a few years and seen increasing numbers of Jaycees and Jareths coming up through the ranks, I made that decision some time ago.

CaveMum · 22/03/2010 12:30

Ariesgirl bad baby names are a real pet hate of mine.

Just why would you do that to your own flesh and blood?!

The ones that really get to me are the parents who seem to want to tailor their children to sets and only ask for names that "go with" the older siblings.

My personal favourites from that site are:

"I named my first daughter Odessa and my second daughter Blaze and i have gotten wonderful comments from parents at school and work.
Could it be because all the parents at school and work are ALSO Louisiana strippers?

Odessa. Nothing like a kindergartener named after a deeply impoverished Ukrainian town sniffing distance from Chernobyl and home to one of the worst pogroms of the Holocaust. How 'bout Dachau if it's a boy?"

and

"These are some of my fave boys and girls names and i would sooo much appreciate any comments you have!!! thanx! (or just pick out your faves from my list if u dont want to comment on them all!)
Girls:
Ariana (aw ree AH nuh)
Aubriana (aw bree AH nuh)
Ambria (am BREE uh)
Avery (AY vree)
Brinley (BRIN lee)
Charity (CHAIR it ee)
Demi (DEM ee)
Desirae (des er AY)
OK, I'll cut this off right here. This lady's crazy. She clearly sits around all day thinking up adorable names that work very well on cats. Scads and scads of them. Then she spells them phonetically VERY carefully, yet can't make a cohesive sentence on her own.

Havana (huh VAN uh)
Jade (JAYD)
Jerica (JAIR ick uh)
Kamrei (KAM ree)
Karis (kuh REESE)
Kaylana (kay LAW nuh)

Here she gets mean. She dishes out some names that aren't even close to names, then insists they get pronounced in ways unlike they're spelled. I'll cut to the end.

Phoenix (FEE nicks)
Rhianyn (ree ANN in)
Shailyn (SHAY linn)
Siena (see EHN uh)
Trinity (TRIN it ee)
Valerie (VAL ehr ee)

Valerie? What the hell kind of name is that? Freak!"

and finally:

"Hey guys i am Miranda, i have 4 month old twin girls there names are Kiarne Rhukaya & Paris jewel.

Miranda, sweetie, don't keep any weapons in the house. Twins can be all telekinetic and spooky, and those two are going to wreak some revenge on your ass."

Kaloki · 22/03/2010 12:35

I have to admit, we are likely to have more unusual names for our kids. What else do you expect from a couple of goths? Plus, I was nearly called Storm, and am still annoyed my dad decided I needed a more "normal" name to stop me being bullied. Despite his short arse genes being what I actually got bullied for

OP posts:
Ariesgirl · 22/03/2010 12:35

Oh. My. God.

I know! Let's think up some class A unbelievable names, post then and ask for opinions. Someone did that not so long ago on the baby names thread - I can't remember what name she chose but it was feckin hilarious!

Shazznynn Mudd Vygyna

What do you think?

Am starting my 2WW and my main thought is "when can I next have a glass of wine?" Will I go to hell?

claireinthecommunity · 22/03/2010 15:12

Oh zippy (hug).

claireinthecommunity · 22/03/2010 15:27

The naming discussion always fascinates me, I always sometimes lurk on the baby names board and find it so interesting how and why people are attracted to certain types of names - it's certainly opened my eyes! I would say my style would be traditional and classic, but I do often wonder if that can translate into boring and overused. Not sure I would feel brave enough to pick something a little more out there or different though.

MrsWajs · 22/03/2010 15:38

Hi guys! Sorry was AWOL yesterday - was feeling a bit sorry for myself! Thanks to everyone for all their messages! Don't have time to reply individually just now but will read through the thread later on and reply then!

On a (?) mopre positive note - STILL no AF!! Hoping beyond hope that maybe yesterdays test was a false negative, not sure how commom these are tho?? If still no AF will re-test Wednesday or Thursday.x

aly323 · 22/03/2010 16:14

Aries I hope you don't mind if I steal that name. It's beautiful, especially the Vygyna part! I live in LA and have run into many interesting names in the court system. I personally have a very unique name. I hated it when I was little (and just went by Aly), however at 18, I finally grew into my name. I'm very thankful to my mom now.

Chalky, Marly and Me had me crying harder than any other movie I've seen as an adult. My DH won't watch the end. He's such a softie and a dog lover. We have dogs of our own, and we do a lot of fostering and volunteering at a shelter. The puppy is unbelievably cute, he's also into everything! The three teenage girls are also keeping us on our toes. These girls are BOLD!

Mrs Wajs I'm really, really hoping it was a false negative. I was sure you were going to get a positive. There's still hope, and if it's not this month, it WILL happen!

I'm on 7dpo. No real symptoms, but I have had good dreams. If af comes, it'll probably be Thur. That's also my appointment with the fertility doctor... it would be very nice to go to the doctor with a bfp instead.

mumnerves · 22/03/2010 16:36

Happy Monday everyone!

kaloki sorry to hear you're still getting cramps, it seems like ages! If it's a bug, it may go away soon, keeping fingers crossed for you!

felicityflick am going to lake district for 2 nights, nowhere TOO exciting but glad to get away for a few days. We're going over easter, so predicting lots of traffic

zippys sorry about BFN but the witch hasn't shown up yet, so keeping fingers crossed for you!

Mrswajs No apologies required and as you said, still no AF so, fingers crossed AF stays away for you too!

cavemum lol at the site, it's hilarious and brightened up my day Just wanted to add this BBC article about the most unfortunate names in the UK:
news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7909561.stm

chalky My DH was very reluctant to watch Marley and me at the cinema with me, but I dragged him to it and he was blubbering by the end of it. I think he's more attached to our dog than he cares to admit

Well, my BBT has gone up by .15 oC not sure if that's enough to indicate ovulation??! Temps are all over this month anyway, wish it were more straight forward

SO my 2ww starts today, had a big glass of wine last night and feeling a bit guilty for it, but am convinced my scan will show up something is not right down below as I'm getting cramping again and it's around ovulation time again. Scan booked for 4 weeks time, so will just wait and see

calligraphy I'm 100% with you on the traditional name front.

DH and I have been investigating our family trees in recent months and it is interesting to see some fairly uncommon names that appear on both sides of our trees - Amelia, Hannah, Harriet, Isobel. I always find girls names so much easier to pick than boys names!

We also have an added thought when it comes to middle names as DH's surname is not his "real" name. DH's grandfather was shot down and killed in WW2 when his son (DH's father) was only a baby. His widow (DH's grandmother) remarried and they changed the child's surname and made his "real" surname his middle name. With me so far?
DH's father didn't want to give his two sons the surname as a middle name so the name his "died out" as there were no other boys to carry on the name.

DH's grandfather was only 23 when he was killed, along with his crew, and I think it would be nice to use his surname as an additional middle name, to keep it going IYSWIM.

I have to say the ancestry research is good fun - I've already discovered that I am related to a Scottish Laird, and possibly very very very distantly related to Princess Diana as a result!
It is also quite funny to see the number of relatives, who you think of as being respectable old-fashioned folks, that have a suspiciously short time between the date of their marriage and birth of their first child! Funny how so may of these children are born within 6 months of their parents being married ;)

Ariesgirl · 22/03/2010 18:04
