After 18m persuading DH, we are finally (v gently ) TTc no 3.
As I am now 35, am convinced my fertility days are behind me.
Anyone in a similar position and needing to share support?

DarrellRivers · 15/07/2008 09:37

Dinny-congratulations
Fertilityfriend thinks I ovulated Saturday, so at least there was some preceding activity.
So 4 DPO now, settles in with a cup of tea and a encyclopedia of made-up symptoms, awaiting the crazy behaviour.
Good luck Jaype

Check out CaptainKarvol's BFP.

She is 37 and has had no symptoms whatsoever until the test

mummyontherun · 15/07/2008 12:31

Can I join in?

Would love to hear some strategies for notgettingobsessed I am sure it doesn't help! I feel like a huge calendar walking the streets ticking off days until there's hope, getting down to BDing then crossing fingers through the 2WW, then AF then round again - and I'm only on my fourth cycle. Will it get worse or better?

Any advice gratefully received !

summerbird · 15/07/2008 13:32

Hi there, i am a newbie to this site. We have been TTC#1 since March and I am 35. My colleague who is also 35 got her BFP on the first month and already has a DD - i am so pleased for her but it was funny that she said that she didnt even notice her AF was overdue - er hello - i have mine in my diary!! Let me know if you get any notgettingobsessed tips!! I have just finished my AF so will have to wait 3 weeks for the next test - booo!

DarrellRivers · 15/07/2008 13:57

welcome summerbird and mumontherun.
My top tips so far are
Tip1) Do not have pregnancy tests in the house (i cannot be trusted)
Tip2) No testing until period is late
Tip3) Do not talk about any of this stuff to people in RL , they do not understand

OP posts:
Lionstar · 15/07/2008 15:24

Oh dear I've failed Tip 1 already!

Congrats dinny, and welcome to mummyontherun and summerbird

mummyontherun · 15/07/2008 15:38

Thank you DarrellRivers!

I too have failed tip 1 and also tip 2 - (and the definition of late could keep me going for a whole page - would 1 minute past midnight on its due date count !!!) But as for tip 3 that's why I started to post - because nobody seems to understand, and I feel they are judging me for not loving my dd as she should be "enough". I do feel blessed but she is so lovely I want another one!

Summerbird I would love to need my diary to know - of course AF's visit is in there and so is OD and dates to BD - am I alone ?

summerbird · 15/07/2008 16:55

no mummyonthrun you are not alone, as soon as day one of AF comes i am working out what day the next AF is and using it as a benchmark - ie - 'that is the weekend we are visiting family/going away/conference at work' etc etc, me and my DH know it all off by heart, he is a darling as he is as keen as me, he is younger (29 - woof!!) but ready and raring to go.

I told hime we couldnt BD last night as we did on Sunday, then i got all worried that it was getting routine and clinical, that is the last thing i want.

Thanks for the tips darrellrivers, I have failed tip 1 - got two boots ones in!

oo and what is OD? cant find it on the acronym list....d'oh!

SpangleMaker · 15/07/2008 18:56

Welcome mummyontherun & summerbird

Take heed of Darrell's tips, I have failed on all 3. I've only told one RL friend - I told her before she came back to work from maternity leave with #1, now her #2 bump is showing

I'm pretty down at the moment - I think I'm having an anovulatory cycle as my temp is still low on CD22, and I never get long cycles. Oh well, roll on next cycle!

summerbird · 15/07/2008 19:46

Thanks spanglemaker, as i said before my friend from work is expecting no 2, i wish she would be more excited, but hasnt had her scan yet so i can understand her anxiety a little bit. Tho i would be climbing the walls if it was me!

How long have you been trying? Try not to be down, my DH says that we need to work hard for things in life in order to really appreciate them, that is good advice to me.

Oh and thanks for the welcomes everyone - you are all lovely!!

CoteDAzur · 15/07/2008 20:45

Right. I'm testing tomorrow morning. It will be several days before AF, but my throat is killing me and I want to be able to take some pills if I am not pregnant.

Sitting here sipping tea with lemon and honey, feeling sorry for myself.

Maybe this is the universe's way of softening the blow of an imminent BFN - I almost wish test result comes up as negative so I can get some cough medicine and Lemsip.

flowerfairy · 15/07/2008 20:49

Hi to all. DR is right about her tips abd have obeyed until last cycle when i bought some pg tests because period was late and then turned up the day after, so didn't get to use.

Am now on 2WW, but am not hopeful for this cycle as dh was ill last week though did manage it twice (sorry if tmi) now i'm ill, ewcm appeared today and had some blood streaked discharge on sunday after bd. Am even thinking ahead to next cycle when i think we will be away when i actually ovulate and dh is not very keen on bd in tent, so that's 2 months out the window again. OPK havenot shown any surges, haven't got round to using preseed stuff either perhaps i should jjust give up hope.

Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Sorry all i seem to do is come and have a rant and then go again.

BTW sister hasnot had baby yet either.

SpangleMaker · 16/07/2008 06:41

cote fingers crossed for you, let us know!

jaype hope AF has stayed away. It's infuriating when things get in the way at 'that' time of the month.

summerbird we've been trying about 7 months now. Wise words from your DH - mine is very positive and laid back, but was saying at the weekend 'It's dragging a bit now, isn't it?'

hi to everyone else! better get off here & get ready for work.

DarrellRivers · 16/07/2008 07:57

cote, how exciting, fingers crossed
Hope you feel better soon

OP posts:
CoteDAzur · 16/07/2008 08:57

I had a bad night, coughing and often waking up to my own snoring (all gunked up). Finally did the test at 5 AM, got a BFN, and tooks the pills.

Good luck to all of you

SpangleMaker · 16/07/2008 12:45

Aw Cote, sounds like you are having a bad time of it. It may've been too early to test though, how many days before AF are you?

DarrellRivers · 16/07/2008 17:37

cote

OP posts:
flowerfairy · 16/07/2008 20:15

Maybe it's too early cote. Fingers crossed that that's the case.

SlippersAndPipe · 16/07/2008 20:17

Congrats Dinny - that's great news!
Hi summerbird and mumontherun.

Darrell your tips made me . I am v good and am adhering to them all. Am thankful for having you all here to get me through point 3). So many people keep asking me when we are having no2. I keep making non commital comments and dh doesn't want any more etc.

Sorry to hear you're unwell Cote. Hope you manage to rest.

Am on 2WW but not hopeful (due to illness here too at the crucial time).
What's preseed btw? A few of you have mentioned it.

DarrellRivers · 16/07/2008 20:33

I have to confess that last month on the first month TTC I actually ignored Tip1 and Tip2.
So am going to try harder this month
I think Tip3 is the most helpful. And yes I agree with slippers, I would go crazy (or certainly appear crazy) if I didn't have you lot to bore with the tales of my monthly cycle

OP posts:
flowerfairy · 16/07/2008 20:35

Preseed is a vaginal lubricant that mimics ewcm and does not kill sperm like ky jelly, saliva. it supposedly then helps the sperm to get to the right place.i've bought some, but have yet too use it because I thought i knew when ov was pretty much but it's rather expensive so you don't want to waste it!

flowerfairy · 16/07/2008 20:36

lol at darrellrivers ignoring own tips.

DarrellRivers · 16/07/2008 20:38

I have only now had the strength to confess.
I didn't even buy a cheap savers test and then my period came several hours later.
Doh, (slaps DR's head)

OP posts:
flowerfairy · 16/07/2008 20:46

Did you buy a double pack so that at least you have one for next time?

flowerfairy · 16/07/2008 20:47

After your confession don't forget to say 10 hail OPK and pray for divine intervention
