After 18m persuading DH, we are finally (v gently ) TTc no 3.
As I am now 35, am convinced my fertility days are behind me.
Anyone in a similar position and needing to share support?

Ovulation and Pregnancy test kits can be bought quite cheaply over the internet, this is the cheapest site I have come across - big savings to be made compared to the high street e.g. 20 ovulation test strips for £6.50 + postage

Hi belgianbun, hope we bring you some good luck, we could cheer on the little swimmers if that helps

jaype · 23/06/2008 22:53

They are even cheaper on ebay BUT I found them totally useless at detecting anything. The Clearblue digi monitor seems to be the only thing that responds to my pathetically small changes in hormones!

DarrellRivers · 24/06/2008 08:20

I ahve found just charting on fertilityfriend with a basal thermometer (outlay £7) to be pretty helpful.
Am currently excited as D25 yesterday ie D7 post ovulation and had some red spotting.
Could it be my period early or (fingers crossed) an implatation bleed.
This stuff makes you go really crazy you know

OP posts:
Lionstar · 24/06/2008 12:17

Yay Darrell, fingers crossed for you here too

flowerfairy · 24/06/2008 18:37

fingers crossed darrell, i'm still af no show, but am feeling quite pms-y with red face and absolutely shattered. will leave it a bit llonger yet, am convinced af will show everytime i go to the loo.

DarrellRivers · 25/06/2008 08:42

I'm no longer excited, am sure the spotting is just my period abou to start, can't stop going to the toilet.
I knew I would become slightly obsessed and , yes, I am.
This is torture.
Good luck ff

OK am now 5 days late am convinced am not pg and am just waiting for af to make an appearance.

Maybe if I shout it , it will come on-
AF I'M WAITING.

Was determined to wait longer to do pg test, because once i know i think i'll either be grinning inanely or crying uncontrollably. Still have not bought a test. Will leave it until Friday then can test in secret on Sat morning, when dh has gone downstairs. thinks i'm going a bit loopy over it.

Still getting cramps and boobs still a bit painful.

SpangleMaker · 25/06/2008 23:00

Darrell, flowerfairy - I've got my fingers crossed for you both!

I'm out this month - TEW got me this afternoon
I had high hopes for this month, too... oh well. Have just been out for a pub meal with a large glass of wine to commiserate.

I was actually not expecting AF until tomorrow, so at least I wasn't kept waiting (am trying to be thankful for small mercies)

Good luck everyone else!

DarrellRivers · 26/06/2008 09:21

still spotting, not really proper period, D27, god knows, i suspect will be out as well
spangle, we may well be similar cycle next time round
sounds hopeful ff, thinking of you tomorrow

OP posts:
jaype · 26/06/2008 18:15

Ugh - I am at the other end of the cycle (day 10) and am getting a touch of thrush. I'm sure that will do wonders for ttc

flowerfairy · 26/06/2008 18:48

Have bought test today and stored under bed for first wee of day on sat. Am kinda scared to take it as i've been diappointed before and also think i'm assigning pms symptoms to pg ones. Have been to the toilet loads today for a wee, so i'm trying not to be convinced one way or another, but then things that like that kind of get my hopes up and know that has delayed af before.

SlippersAndPipe · 26/06/2008 19:12

Hello. Can I join?
I'm 35, feeling old, and just started ttc#2. AF arrived two days ago to disappointment. Bit silly really, it took us 8 months to conceive lo.
I also have a habit of becoming obsessive
Fingers crossed for Darrell and Flowerfairy

Jacanne · 26/06/2008 19:15

Hi, I'm 38 and have been trying for number 3 since Nov - am feeling pretty pmt-ish so I suspect it hasn't happened again

DarrellRivers · 27/06/2008 08:51

welcome slippersandpipe and jacanne
ff , am feeling nervous for you now, good luck tomorrow, i am away sat - sun so will check in sun afternoon,
I am now D29, relieved I have a reasonable luteal length for D18 ovulation, and still this very odd spotting, 2-3 times a day, browny, almost black in colour.
I don't know, will take mooncup away with me as should be prepared for the worst and if no period by monday, then might allow myself to buy a test then.

jaype · 27/06/2008 13:53

Good luck! May you be the fastest graduate...

SpangleMaker · 27/06/2008 18:29

Welcome slippersandpipe and jacanne

Slippers, sounds as if we're at the same stage cycle-wise, my AF arrived on Wednesday. I've actually now come to appreciate this time of the month, it's the one time I'm not obsessing.

Darrell, your spotting sounds promising - I've had pre-AF-time spotting (which I tried to convince myself was implantation) but it was always pink.

flowerfairy, you have done so well not to test yet. I'll be checking in tomorrow to see if there's any news!

flowerfairy · 27/06/2008 19:51

Well af came today and feel so down after feeling slightly hopeful. Have had cry on dh's shoulder and bought large bar of chocolate and big bag of crisps and wine is chilling in the fridge. So will be back here again. off to buy some pre seed stuff to see if that works

SpangleMaker · 27/06/2008 20:54

sorry to hear that flowerfairy I was hopeful for you.

Am thinking of trying pre-seed but not ordered any yet.

jaype · 27/06/2008 21:02

Sorry flowerfairy... add me to he list of people hovvering over the 'order now' button for pre-seed! I keep thinking about it but haven't got that far yet. Am seeing how my Clearblue digi and I get on for another month first.

flowerfairy · 27/06/2008 21:54

Have just ordered some and my life will calm down a little (ha,ha) after next week as am going back to part time work and can't wait. Maybe a calmer me will help too.
Am just finishing my glass of wine and pringles and chocolate and having an early night as feeling alittle drained after the past few days. thanks for your thoughts.

DarrellRivers · 29/06/2008 09:16

Well, spotting turned to proper period on Friday(should have known it was too good to be true)
Roll on the next cycle.
Sorry ff, good luck with the pre-seed

OP posts:
flowerfairy · 29/06/2008 11:52

Sorry to hear that, Good luck darrell for next cycle. AF a bitch and am still bit down as sister is about to have her dc#2 next month and have to see her getting bigger and preparing for the birth. Felt sure i would have been pg before it was born so would feel less depressed about it. Well lets hope the preseed works its magic. Just read that back and i sound so selfish and self absorbed. You all know what i mean though don't you?!

DarrellRivers · 29/06/2008 12:12

I know exactly what you mean
There were loads of pregnant cousins at the wedding I was at yesterday and I was quietly

OP posts:
Jacanne · 29/06/2008 12:13

Sorry Flowerfairy and Darrellrivers - best of luck for next month.

SpangleMaker · 29/06/2008 16:26

Sorry AF got you Darrell, better luck for next month (or should that be this month)

I know what you mean about being at pregnant friends. A couple of months back it was my birthday on the day AF was due, so of course I got my hopes up thinking what a perfect birthday present a BFP would be. Instead she showed up bearing no gifts whatsoever, and I went out for lunch with a friend who'd not long come back from maternity leave and announced she was pregnant again. I was genuinely elated for her but also and for myself.

Is anyone else still hopeful this cycle?
