After 18m persuading DH, we are finally (v gently ) TTc no 3.
As I am now 35, am convinced my fertility days are behind me.
Anyone in a similar position and needing to share support?

Oh guys, sorry to hear that interfering Auntie Flo has dropped round!

I don't know all these conception acronyms yet, but we will be being the proverbial bunnies around the 10th-ish. My cycle is a bit irregular between 28 and 33 days so we go on the physical signs.

jaype · 30/06/2008 16:52

Not very hopeful for this month.Am on day 14 and the CB Digi has been saying 'high fertility' for the past three days. But last month it just stayed like that for 10 days and I didn't get a surge so probably didn't ov. Bet that happens again. In the first month I had it the thing showed high for just a day before going to peak - not that it helped, but it made me feel better! It doesn't help that I'm suddenly spotty either.

Jacanne · 01/07/2008 13:20

My period was due today and I got a very very faint positive on a First Response (which is supposed to detect the hormone 6 days before so should be ultra sensitive). I have googled and what I've read suggests that I was pregnant but have miscarried really early and so my levels are dropping - does that sound likely - am hoping not so if anyone has any positive experience please tell me.

beaniesteve · 01/07/2008 13:24

I'm annoyoed with myself. Am 9DPO and due today so I tested and it was negative. I hate being 38, I hate having such a short cycle and a short luteal phase.

DarrellRivers · 01/07/2008 14:15

jacanne, that sounds really encouraging.
i think you would be bleeding if you were having a chemical pregnancy, when do you think you ovulated?
beaniesteve, i have a luteal phase of 10d, bit rubbish really

jaype · 01/07/2008 14:37

Well, some good news. After all my defeatism today I have a peak! So whether it leads to anything or not at least I have a bit of hope that my body is vaguely functional (okay, it could mean there's a problem elsewhere, but I'm not dwelling on that or the moment...)

DarrellRivers · 01/07/2008 14:49

good news jaype, i know what you mean about just being pleased that the darn things seem to be working ok.
I was worried 1) that i wasn't ovulating
and 2 ) that i only ahd a luteal phase of 7 days (10d is short but hopeful)

OP posts:
Jacanne · 01/07/2008 14:52

I ovulated at day 15 (it's usually day 14/15) and my cycle is usually 29/30 days - it was day 30 today.

DarrellRivers · 01/07/2008 14:58

my chemical preg/early m/c was as follows, negative preg test D 28, positive D 32, then bleeding 5 days afterwards.
Repeat your test in 2 days or so, but i would think you are pregnant rather than chemical preg at the moment on the information you have
{tentative congratulations]

Thanks DR - will try another test in a few days (who am I kidding - probably tonight!)

Jacanne · 01/07/2008 19:57

Just done another test - CB this time - and it is negative

SpangleMaker · 01/07/2008 21:21

Maybe it's because you weren't using FMU? You could still be in with a chance!

Jacanne · 01/07/2008 21:47

I will try that in the morning - still have one test left.

SpangleMaker · 01/07/2008 21:52

Good luck

flower68 · 01/07/2008 22:07

OOOh you're all making me feel so old!!! I am ttc a third baby and am 40. Any help encouragement much appreciated. Got pregnant actually on my 40th birthday but lost baby at 12 weeks. That was five months ago and no joy so far.

Jacanne · 01/07/2008 22:58

I'm only 1 and a half years behind you flower - very sorry to hear about your m/c and wishing you lots of luck for no. 3 - that's what we're trying for too.

DarrellRivers · 02/07/2008 08:40

hello flower, 40 is still young, come and join us,
fingers crossed jacanne for this morning.

OP posts:
Jacanne · 02/07/2008 10:59

No joy this morning with FMU so I'm thinking that it is perhaps a chemical pregnancy.

SpangleMaker · 02/07/2008 11:28

Jacanne

But - as I read somewhere else on here - it's not over until the fat red lady sings

DarrellRivers · 02/07/2008 15:36

jacanne
I like that phrase spangles, says it all really

beaniesteve · 02/07/2008 20:23

went to my doctor today and asked about what to do now I have been trying for over 9 months. She says I can have further tests but that 38 I am too old to geet free fertillity treatment ion the NHS - is this true?

SpangleMaker · 02/07/2008 20:34

I don't know for sure but I don't think so. I was reading an article in the Times last week about the varying NHS provision of IVF across the country. NICE have some recommendations (can't remember what they were)but not all health authorities follow them. Anyway the age that was referred to in the article was definitely 39.

It'd be worth checking out the NICE guidelines but I think the services offered will depend on where you are.

I was to read that my health authority was one of the few to offer no IVF at all.

I think you should challenge your doc and get her to push forward with tests etc asap.

Best of luck, let us know how you get on.

beaniesteve · 02/07/2008 20:48

I'm in Wales - I wonder if it's different here? I am trying for my first and OH is 32. I don't think I'd want to go down the ivf route.

SpangleMaker · 02/07/2008 22:51

Not sure about being different in Wales, but I think they often give priority to couples trying for their first.

I don't know if I'd go for IVF or not - I'm still (trying to be) optimistic I won't need to go that far.

Jacanne · 03/07/2008 11:04

The fat red lady has arrived .

A quick question - does this count as an ordinary AF - I mean will my cycle be the same - should I expect to ovulate at roughly the same time as usual?
