After 18m persuading DH, we are finally (v gently ) TTc no 3.
As I am now 35, am convinced my fertility days are behind me.
Anyone in a similar position and needing to share support?

Yes was telling DH about his healthy-eating responsibilities this evening, and he told me he'd had a kebab for lunch! - he said, don't worry, I only have them every few weeks think I am going to have to start making him some healthy meals.

Thanks both for your advice. I suspect the Zita West vits (the women's ones anyway) are a bit of a rip-off although they do come in a pretty jar

Lionstar, you're quite right about the cutting out alcohol but I just don't think we would have got through the last year without a drink or two, being weak-willed people we are!

summerbird · 08/08/2008 09:16

I tried giving up alcohol for the three months prior to my wedding - it lasted 4 days!! I am rubbish.

However me and DH do eat healthy, all of our meals are freshly prepared with fresh veg etc even our curries and bolognese. Although we do enjoy the odd tipple!

Does anyone read the Metro? This morning they ran a story about Clomid and artificial insemination only being as effective as natural methods. Not sure what everyone thinks of that. The NHS are considering withdrawing these methods based on the stats.

flowerfairy · 08/08/2008 11:58

Well have taken everything you all said on board, will have to try harder with the diet and certainly giving up the caffeine when i get back from hols. Will probably be drinking lots in order to stay warm while caming net week. Had pumpkin seeds in our dinner last night, good source of zinc i hear.

Good luck bding all.

summerbird · 09/08/2008 11:13

errrr hello? where is everyone? its the weeeeeeeeeeeekend!

SpangleMaker · 09/08/2008 11:34

Hi there, I'm here! Glad it's the weekend but berating myself for forgetting about the washing on the line last night as we had visitors over, now it's wetter than when it came out of the machine, doh!!

flowerfairy · 09/08/2008 11:59

Very wet here too. Can't get all my last bits of washing dry ready for hols. Can't wait. Just hope this weather improves

SpangleMaker · 09/08/2008 12:20

It's supposed to be nicer tomorrow. When are you going? We're going to a wedding reception tonight - marquee in a field - DH may have to carry me in in my high heels! Second thoughts, don't want him to put his back out - just got a +ve OPK

Wondering if my brother and his dp may be TTC, stepsis saw OPKs at their house (they told dss they were for contraception purposes ).... what a gossip I am!

summerbird · 09/08/2008 13:57

go for it stiletto spangles you are in Manchester arent you? I can therefore vouch for the crap weather. We are going to dinner with some friends tonight - i think it was going to be a BBQ but we will just get hammered inside the house instead!!

flowerfairy · 09/08/2008 14:06

Going on Mon to Cornwall.

Definitely the stilettos spangle could lead to abit of role play before bding, just to keep the romance going. Good luck with opk.

flowerfairy · 09/08/2008 14:08

by the way the role play could follow dp carrying you.

OMG i'm thinking about this too much!

SpangleMaker · 09/08/2008 14:38

flowerfairy - good idea. Won't tell him I got the idea on mumsnet though... or perhaps he might find that exciting will let you know how I get on!

In Staffordshire summerbird same rubbish weather though! Have fun at your dinner party

flowerfairy · 09/08/2008 15:27

Spangles- snap in Staffordshire too!

summerbird · 09/08/2008 15:34

I went to a wedding in Stafford in April and it was glorious sunshine - in contrast to my rainy August wedding!!!

flowerfairy · 09/08/2008 15:54

Bloomin' english summer!!!!

SpangleMaker · 09/08/2008 16:15

Super, good to know there are a few of us (relative) northerners!

We were v lucky with the weather at our wedding (August 2003 - very sunny) but we deliberately chose a venue that was just as nice on the inside as outside just in case. But I think wedding days are always special no matter what the weather. Oooh getting all nostalgic now!

flowerfairy · 09/08/2008 18:01

Mmm.. we had glorious weather when we married in May many years ago.

summerbird · 09/08/2008 18:41

i agree - our wedding was uber special and we hardly even refer to the weather as our venue was lovely inside too.

SpangleMaker · 09/08/2008 19:25

stalker alert - summerbird I just looked at your profile - you look lovely in your wedding dress! Was that pic outside la Belle Epoque in Knutsford? That's one lovely (and very posh!) restaurant.

Right better go & hassle DH, he is trying to choose from his 30 - yes, 30! - pairs of boots. The man is more vain than me!

beanieb · 09/08/2008 19:28

I think I need to join this thread properly.

just gone 38 and trying for my first for 10 months with no success. OH has had sperm test last week so we'll see.

Scared it is me who is too old!

flowerfairy · 09/08/2008 21:07

welcome beanieb. Nice of you to join our motley crew.

SpangleMaker · 10/08/2008 09:53

Hello & welcome beanieb

I'm 37 & on cycle 8 ttc our first. Not done any tests yet but plan to get the ball rolling at GPs if this cycle hasn't worked.

Fingers crossed you/your OH get good results.

summerbird · 10/08/2008 10:15

hiya beanieb i am 35 and on cycle no 6 TTC no 1, i asked a gynaecologist if i was getting old for this game and she said that as i am not yet 40 i should be absolutely fine - not that anyone over 40 shouldnt be but they just monitor that age group more carefully. stick with us 30somethings!!

Indeed spanglemaker i did get married at the Belle Epoque, it is a fabulous place, they converted the restaurant downstairs into the wedding ceremony room, it was all gothic and fabulous!! after that we had the whole place to ourselves to party! Have you ever been there to eat? Although the place seems posh it is actually quite laid back - our wedding meal was a BBQ buffet!

SpangleMaker · 10/08/2008 11:27

Yes, four of us had a meal there some time ago for our friend's birthday. It's a beautiful place. We were all really dressed up & actually got rather tiddly but none of the other diners seemed to mind, I think because we were so poshed up!

DarrellRivers · 10/08/2008 13:19

Welcome beanie b,i am 35 , cycle 3 , ttc no 3

SpangleMaker · 10/08/2008 13:47

Darrell, in a similar boat to you, am on CD15 now & expecting to ov today or tomorrow (did another opk just now and there was a distinct line, but fainter than yesterday; also EWCM today). Only managed 2 'goes' so far, CD14/15 - might try to throw one in tonight for luck, if DH has any energy left!
