After 18m persuading DH, we are finally (v gently ) TTc no 3.
As I am now 35, am convinced my fertility days are behind me.
Anyone in a similar position and needing to share support?

If he won't bd in the tent he'll be up for it

summerbird · 02/08/2008 14:28

Oh go on flowerfairy i have BD'd in a tent - it is great fun and a right giggle!! I love camping, my DH and I are going in two weeks time.

i am also impressed that you havent tested yet, it would be very exciting to have a BFP on this thread..!

ello there spangles my dad is the same with Port - i will never forget the xmas my dad, grandad and i went through a whole bottle after dinner - we couldnt stand up!!

dharma · 02/08/2008 19:54

Hello all - am back from a night of debauchery (sp?) and am very tired. But had a great night and drank far too much alcohol, and then even went onto a club and did some proper dancing!! (none of that BD stuff!!)

Now worrying that I have undone all the good of the past 2 weeks and have done untold damage to anything that may have decided to take root inside of me (or not!!) - but then again it's not every day you get to celebrate your 37th birthday is it?!

Will now refrain from alcohol til AF arrives or til I get a BFP

flowerfairy · 03/08/2008 11:19

OK ladies i succumbed.could bear it no longer. Thought if i did it this morning at least if it was neg, then at least chance af will come before holiday.

Was bfn. Am guttd but am also not as devastated like i have been before with bfn.

At least i can go on holiday and enjoy myself, maybe even seduce dh in tent. Then come home and bd as my entry in the olympics.

summerbird · 03/08/2008 11:37

flowerfairy i am in your club, i got up this mornng on CD28 an felt good that there was no AF. Then i just go to the loo again and have some spotting - AF has arrived

My DH gave me a hug and said that in that case he is going to have to give me a good seeing to all month!!!!! He does make me giggle! Still it means that we can properly celebrate our wedding anniversary in two weeks time and drink that vintage bottle of moet we have

Hope you enjoyed your birthday Dharma and dont worry about the toxins - you go for it dancing queen!!!

DarrellRivers · 03/08/2008 14:13

ff and sb
Well, looks like another month of trying then......
saw an old friend yesterday, who has 2 DC, she had some unexpected news, she has had an accident and now is pregnant after one slip up.(lucky thing)
Felt very happy for her, a little envious, but suprisingly I was not green green sickingly green jealous
I think for me, just being able to try is the positive thing at the moment (still would love a BFP)

OP posts:
DarrellRivers · 03/08/2008 14:30

and just heard from my sister, she is also pregnant

flowerfairy · 03/08/2008 14:49

DR lets hope those positive vibes will pass on to you, fingers crossed. There's always next month!
Af has arrived now and am glad that definitely means will be over before holiday and dh just said "so how quiet can you be in a tent then?" So i think my luck will be in, after all.
Also means i can wear the new undies i bought on my shopping spree this week.

summerbird · 03/08/2008 15:36

flowerfairy i have worked out my optimum time is the weekend me and DH are camping, i suppose you too - so as i PMSL we will prob be at it at the same time in our tents!!!!! heres to a campingbonktastic month!!!

that has cheered me up actually! i had a moment earlier on, my DH and i decided to go for a walk into town and it started raining - i exclaimed what a sh1t day it is and that nothing has gone to plan - then started bubbling my eyes out - then felt silly as the weather cleared up and i got my walk, the DH bought me a gooey cake and latte from Cafe Nero as a treat - bless him!

onwards and upwards as they say - ooo Darrellrivers they do say things come in threes - maybe its a lickle DR next??

flowerfairy · 03/08/2008 15:51

Just think we could be conceiving under canvas. There's something to tell them when they are older.

I'll probably laughing that much now that i won't be able to do it. Look well if the warden comes round to tell us we are being too noisy. It's all in a good cause.

Summerbird your dh sounds lovely. My dh keeps checking i'm ok and i really am. Keep remembering how blessed i am to have ds.

summerbird · 03/08/2008 19:54

flowerfairy i am soooo gonna PMSL in that tent!

Even my mother (who i offloaded my frustrations to today) said 'Well you are just going to have to have a gay old time on your anniversary weekend then arent you'

OMG that is coming from a 57 year old woman - control yourself mother!!!

SpangleMaker · 04/08/2008 08:56

flowerfairy summerbird

hope you are both feeling ok. Summerbird, your DH sounds lovely!

At least you have the chance of telling your future child a romantic story of their conception... 'it was a beautiful starry evening, we drank wine by the camp fire and talked of our dreams of our future family...'

Mine is more likely to be... 'After checking my LH levels, analysing my cervical mucus and performing a BBT chart overlay, I concluded tonight was The Night. I went to rouse your father who, clearly exhausted from the previous four evenings' efforts, had fallen asleep in front of Newsnight. Lovely man that he is, he put to one side our earlier argument about whose turn it was to pay the milkman, and heaved himself into bed with a huge sigh...'

At least they will know they were wanted!

summerbird · 04/08/2008 09:06

spangles i just spat my early morning coffee out PMSL at your post!!!!!!!

AF is giving me gip this month too - have already popped the ibru - just to rub salt in the wounds!!! still at least i have a bonktastic month ahead!

flowerfairy · 04/08/2008 09:16

Spangles pmsl. That's cheered me up this morning, thanks.
You forgot that in the tent it would be more like- "after your dad had removed his pyjamas, jumper, socks, pants and woolly hat and i had removed my pj, dressing gown, hat and bedsocks..."

Not selling this camping malarkey am i?

summerbird · 04/08/2008 09:23

and then twisted myself out of the sleeping bag and burst the airbed...............

SpangleMaker · 04/08/2008 09:27

It's sad but it's true (well, nearly!)

After romanticising about conception at Christmas, DH's 40th, in Canada, in Scandinavia; a BFP on my birthday - and nothing to've happened yet I'm running out of 'occasions'... will have to get my imagination going - or perhaps a last minute camping trip next weekend (tent in the garden?!)

ff, yes I can imagine the logistics are not easy... you could keep the bedsocks and hat on though?

flowerfairy · 04/08/2008 10:51

Spangles i've had these thoughts too and when i think about it ds was conceived in an early morning fumble before i went on the school trip. Had had a + opk night before too, which prompted it, never thought it would work in a million years.

Keep thinking positive and hopefully your bfp will come soon. Enjoy the moment and as my mum's friend says get those legs in the air after!

SpangleMaker · 04/08/2008 13:07

good advice, flowerfairy - I'd be glad of a BFP however I acquired it!

(erm, with the caveat of it being from DH!)

summerbird · 04/08/2008 19:22

What is it about our mums generation flowerfairy ??!! i revert to my earlier post about my mothers filthy comments!

spangles i am with you, we started trying on our ski trip in March this year - and i had this vision of how cool it would be to have an 'alpine' created baby! also it is my dad's retirement party in January and i also wanted to be pregnant for that (not that i wanted to outshine him!!) so he could be a grandad for his retirement bla bla.

it just seems that the mini flower/spangles/summerbird/darrell/dharma-s are gonna arrive when they are ready thank you very much!

dharma · 04/08/2008 19:40

Have just returned from an acupuncture session - forgot how much those damn needles hurt. Ah well, I just have to keep remembering it's all in a good cause.

Acupuncturist told me I was looking much healthier (what did I look like before?!) and that it was a good sign!

Also said that we would discuss other assistance methods if nothing happens by September. So I kind of feel a little more positive now as I have something to aim for - if that makes sense?

After hearing all your exotic locations, I feel quite humble - no such amazing places for dh and me. My dc will not be told any romantic stories - or maybe I'll pinch one of yours!

summerbird · 04/08/2008 21:53

dont worry dharma my camping exotic location is in South Wales! Still very beautiful though.

Good luck with the acupuncture, i have heard all good things about it.

I need a bit of advice from you experts! I have never used Ovulation sticks before or done any temperatures, i really didnt want to go down that road as i have this romantic image of it all happening through the love of good man etc etc - but after 5 cycles and 6 AFs i think it is now time to start being clinical.

So my question is - how do the ovulation peeing sticks work? do i just pee on it like a pregnancy test and does it tell me when i am fertile? i dont want to buy any costly temperature kits but am prepared to fork out £15 for a pee stick.

sorry if i sound completely thick!!

dharma · 04/08/2008 22:02

Summerbird, I used one for my last cycle about 10 days ago!

It is pretty much like a pregnancy test stick - you pee on it and then wait and if 2 lines come up then you are ovulating, and if only one line comes up, you are not!!

Sometimes the 2nd line is really faint, meaning you are not ovulating yet (or that you have just missed it, I guess?!)

Alternatively, use the digital one, and it wil have a smiley face to show it's game on!!

I did my temperatures as well for the last cycle but got bored after day 15 although I have read that your temperature only goes up AFTER the fertile time, which doesn't really help if you are waiting only for that!

The sticks helped me as I thought I ovulated on day 11/12 but found it was more like day 14/15.

Good luck with them though!

Summerbird have been using some cheap opk this month which show 2 lines if fertile, and have not managed to get a positive at all, so never got round to using preseed bwcause didn't want to waste it.
When i was trying for ds i bought the clearblue version, a little more expensive i know but did get a positive opk. That was also 5 years ago so maybe my ovaries were more sprightly then too. HTH
