After 18m persuading DH, we are finally (v gently ) TTc no 3.
As I am now 35, am convinced my fertility days are behind me.
Anyone in a similar position and needing to share support?

Hey summerbird, sorry not to have replied, have been away from computers for ages! Thanks so much for your reassurance - this site is brilliant! Am a bit drunk now because I had a 'ffs what's the point in being good?' moment, and turned to the wine (no fags though!!) so will come back tomorrow when a bit more sensible! Cheers!

DarrellRivers · 31/07/2008 08:38

Morning everyone,
I find I tend to forget about the TTC a little when my period is here.
It's my mini-break
Good on you FF for holding out so long on testing.
Fingers crossed for you when you do, the hopes of the thread for a BFP are resting with you
And yes, i don't think light periods are related to problems conceiving

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DHARMA !!! Hope you have a good one! (woof woof nudge nudge - come on the lads!!!) in fact you are probably at it right now lady!

Gawd i am starting to sound like flowerfairy now

Hi saturdaykid glad you are feeling better and enjoying the vino

welcome back [DR] i too forget about the TTC during AF and just enjoy chocolate and wine!

summerbird · 31/07/2008 09:03

that was meant to read 'welcome back DR ' i am getting my cybergrammar mixed up!

flowerfairy · 31/07/2008 11:11

Morning all.

How was the dinner summerbird? Did FIL say anything unsubtle?

summerbird · 31/07/2008 11:47

For once he didnt say anything! I was waiting for him to and was ready with a variety of responses (one of them being - so how many times do you and your DP do it then???). He was quite well behaved for a change!!

We are now talking about booking a skiing holiday, we both really love skiing but also the whole atmosphere of it. So i have said to wait until next week (after AF day) to decide whether to ask around our friends. My thinking is even if i do get PG say next month then i can still go in January and do the chill out thing in the spa's and have massages etc whilst they are all breaking their bones on the slopes! If i am already PG then it is a non starter as it would be just over the 6 month mark (wont be able to fly).

flowerfairy · 31/07/2008 12:21

summerbird that sounds like a good idea. As much as we all want to be pg, you can't put all of your life on hold, just in case. A friend of mine suffered a m/c early this year and now she has got herself a new job with more prospects, better pay. My mum doesn't approve but i think you can't keep thinking i won't do that just in case or you would miss out on alot of life.

When we were ttc ds, it didn't seem to happen very quickly and i can remember htinking well at least we will always be able to go on really good holidays to do what we want- and hey presto that month found out i was pg.

summerbird · 31/07/2008 12:32

That is so true flowerfairy i applaud your friend for making something positive out of such a sad situation. I agree that I cant put my life on hold forever. I can always make the best of it if i am PG.

The only thing i wish i could change is my job, although it pays quite well and is quite an interesting job i work with some really negative and catty people, and it gets me down sometimes. But i can do something about it by moving within the company. I dont want to leave because of maternity benefits etc. At 35 i dont want to have to wait another 2 years after starting a new job to TTC.

Anyway - onto positive thoughts

dharma · 31/07/2008 15:10

Thanks Summerbird and flowerfairy for your bday greetings!

Have had a chilled out day and will soon get ready to hit the town - well just dinner actually!

Summerbird, don't get too down about the job - I know it sucks sometimes - I used to work in a job where backstabbing was common practice, so I know how it feels, but I still stuck it out for 10 years (I really needed the money!). And one you get pg, (maybe this month ), you won't have to think about them for a year!

As I am happy today - what with it being my bday and having had many BD sessions of late, I am now sending you all my positive vibes!!

See you later!

wondermum1 · 31/07/2008 16:38

Happy Birthday Dharma, have a great day and night....

flowerfairy · 31/07/2008 17:54

Everyone seems very positive atm.

Let's hope these positive vibes are rubbing off on all and will lead to lots of BFPs over the next month or so.

Dharma enjoy your evening.
Summerbird-remember you work to live and not live to work and don't let the b*ers grind you down.

SpangleMaker · 31/07/2008 18:02

Happy Birthday dharma have a lovely evening

flowerfairy · 31/07/2008 20:15

OK so where is everyone this evening. Having a life? Bding?

summerbird · 31/07/2008 20:16

thanks dharma and flowerfairy for the career motivation, i do enjoy my work and cannot let beggars like them spoil it. anyway i went for another 5k run at the gym tonight so am feeling all smug - ha!

flowerfairy · 31/07/2008 20:18

Oh get you! Well i've stuffed my face with pizza and am feeling sick. You're making me feel quite guilty at the lack of exercise i do.

flowerfairy · 31/07/2008 20:20

DH has promised tomake me a healthy smoothie with his juicer tonight, (polishes halo for trying to eat her 5 a day)

summerbird · 31/07/2008 20:23

I only started doing the running about 6 weeks ago, i am usually a right lazy cow! but i feel much healthier for it. It is hard work but am building up my speed gradually.

Anyway - i am off for home made rhubarb crumble and double cream now so dont feel too bad!!

flowerfairy · 01/08/2008 19:51

OK i'll turn stalker now.
Are you all off for the weekend?

SpangleMaker · 02/08/2008 01:19

Hi Stalker FlowerFairy

Just got in from a boozy evening at my Dad's, along with brother/DP and step-sister/DP. Managed to bluff the 'grandchildren' subject quite successfully (I think - am slightly tiddly ).

So, FF - still no AF yet? When are you testing? We really need a BFP on this thread, you know!

flowerfairy · 02/08/2008 09:58

HAve not tested yet. Am convinced am not now as have no symptoms at all now, cramps seem to have stopped, occasionally boobs feelllike they are swelling. Even had a glass of wine last night. Mentioned to dh was a week late, though if you remember i was a week late last month, so if my cycle is changing to 35 days then i am only 1 day late now. Am feeling a bit down as think these changes in cycle are siinister. More likely i suppose that i am stressing myself out about it. Though really tthought i was particularly chilled this month.

Dh has suggested i wait for another week. He knows i will be more down if it is bfn than af shows. Am i stupid or what?

Aaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!
Starting to go slightly mad

SpangleMaker · 02/08/2008 10:41

Well if you're only starting to go slightly mad on CD36 you're doing pretty well! Another week though - he's right about the bfn feeling, but a WHOLE WEEK!!!!

I think your long cycles are probably due to stress - I'm convinced that's what happened to me last month. I have never, ever, in 25 years () had a cycle longer than 29 days but last month was 32.

Also earlier in the year I started getting pre-AF spotting for a few cycles which I never had before - of course that got me all wound up thinking it was implantation - but it has gone now, and when I look back it co-incided with a very stressful time at work, and I think that impacted on my hormones.

Anyway I've got my fingers & toes crossed for you (can't do any housework now )

flowerfairy · 02/08/2008 10:50

Will probably be thurs or fri if af hasn't put in an appearance as am going on holiday the following week. Am annoyed though as will mean i have to take tampons and stuff and packing is to a minimum as we're going camping. And also am worried ov will take place while away and dh will not bd in tent. All the layers of bedtime clothes though re abit of a turn off!

How's the head today?

SpangleMaker · 02/08/2008 12:28

Wow, you have the patience of a saint! Let's hope you won't need the tampons etc. How long are you camping for? If it's only a week I wouldn't have thought you'd ov while away, esp if you're having a phase of long cycles.

Re not BDing in tent - I would regard that as a challenge

Head (and stomach) undeservedly fine this morning, though I admit I couldn't remember exactly what I wrote last night My Dad's is the only place I get proper pissed these days - too much good wine & he always gets the liqueurs (sp?) out after dinner, that's what finishes me off!!

flowerfairy · 02/08/2008 12:30

Camping for 10 days. You're probably right about not ov while away with these long cycles. therefore will have to really go for it when we get home.
