Sparkly08 · 20/07/2008 09:49

Hello ladies,
Thought I might have ovulated yday but have been getting OPKs. My temp rose slightly this morning but is still quite low for me. Does anyone know if alcohol can affect ovulation? We were out Friday night so I had a few drinks then and I've had the odd glass of wine this week too. I don't normally drink very much so I'm not sure of the answer.
Sorry for not popping in much in the last few days. Have been really busy with people staying and then last night we had a BBQ. I have a christening to go to today and then more people staying tonight..busy, busy, busy. I'd better try and get some BDing in before then!!
I'm off to catch up on the last few pages....hope everyone is ok.
I was a day behind on the list..was anyone else?

Scully You lived in Farnham!! That's where I grew up! How funny!

Sparkly I don't know whether alcohol can affect ovulation. My guess is not - except for binge drinking, perhaps. I'm pretty sure I had a slow rise this month, so perhaps that is what it is?

Emmsy I have a Wii and we got everything we needed in the box - most of our games are of the sit down variety (lazy buggers that we are ). They're good fun, too. I hate computer games, but I've been persuaded to play a few times on the Wii and really enjoyed it!

HTGG Mid to late August would be fine by me. I have the odd thing dotted about, but that's it.

I ended up driving to the party which was obviously all the excuse I needed not to drink, so I might try that one out for our next few engagements

My one and only whinge at the moment is not having many symptoms. I'm hoping the time will come that I will just think how lucky I was.

Hello ladies, just a quick one from me as I'm still in my pj's [lazy cow]. Been up since 8 just not got as far as getting dressed yet...
Glad to hear it sounds like you're all having a good weekend. Meet up sounds great! Are people thinking it will be on a saturday or on a week day? Georgie would you mind giving me your email address and I'll mail you back? My email address is even less subtle than my nickname on here! No worries if you'd rather not, we can just find another way round it.
Right. Time to get moving. Hope you're all having a lovely sunday!

FruitynNutty · 20/07/2008 11:23

I won't be able to do a week day. Not unless I bring all my mindees with me and I'm not sure they'd have much fun. Much easier with just my own DS He's used to coffee shops at the weekend

yarnie meant to say the other day, please do stop temping once you have your 18 high temps! Before this pregnancy, I carried on temping on 2 occassions after getting my BFP's, on the morning's that my temp's dropped on both occassions I had convinced myself that I was going to m/c on those days. I did m/c on those days but the stress I went through waiting for it to happen was unbelievable, don't even know if the stress contributed to the m/c's but it's just not worth it. I think it's best to get your 18 temps then 'enjoy' what ever happens from there on will happen, no need to put yourself through hell at the same timex

kate2179 · 20/07/2008 19:04

Bugger. Was an ok weekend til about an hour or so ago and now I feel crap. We've had the in-laws and DH's sister over for tea as they hadn't seen the new house since we moved in. His parents are planning an enormous family party at the beginning of november to celebrate their ruby wedding. They are (understandably) very excited about it and every time we see them his father particularly goes on about how amazing it will be to have the whole family together (apparently there are hundreds of them...)over so many generations, from over 80 to 2 months. Then they go on about the babies and how many there will be and how wondeful it is. I know I'm over sensitive, but honestly they do, today's not the first time.
We should have had a 6 week old by then. I've known about the party for ages, at first I thought I would have a 5 1/2 month old (1st mc), then I thought I would have a 6 week old. Now nothing.
I'm probably being over sensitive, and I know he isn't doing it on purpose but I WISH HE'D STOP IT cos it makes me miserable . They just don't get it at all. I asked who the 2 month old will belong to. Apparently some cousin or other. But from the conversation it became obvious he's already been born, so I said "so he won't really be 2 months will he?" Turns out (after much more questioning from me) that he was actually born in january?!?!?!?!?!?! FFS.

QueenyEisGotTheBall · 21/07/2008 02:23

hi ladies
kate sorry about your insensitive inlaws did they know about your MCs? i hate being asked by people when are you going to have another. i actually blurted out about ttc etc to a random friend in the party last night. she was just talking about how long it took her to get preg with her little boy (14 months) and i blurted it out!! this was soon after DHs grandmother had went on and on about how nice it would be to have a great grandson now...she has no idea we are even ttc but i still felt like smothering her with her burger!! it is so natural to feel saddened by the thought of the babies that were not meant to be but it is even worse when people are rubbing it in your face whether they mean to or not!! i hope you get a sticky BFP soon and are nice and pregnant for the party!!
sparkly hi how are you how did the christening go?
fruity how are you lovely pregnant lady??
a big hello to everyone else
xx ei xx

FruitynNutty · 21/07/2008 07:05

Morning ladies

Kate really insensitive. Do they know about your MC's? Do they know you're trying?
I told everyone we were trying, stops people from going on about it if they know it's a sore subject.

Ei Hiya, very well thanks. Looking forward to my scan a week on Thursday. I'm to go back to the GP tonight so I can give her the notes from the last scan, although there's not much on there but hey ho

Hope everyone else is ok? Sparkly sorry I didn't manage to respond to your text. Got inlaws over. I hope you managaged to get BDing

OP posts:
Yarnie · 21/07/2008 07:17

Oh, Kate You're not over-sensitive at all. You're just sensitive and rightly and understandably so. The more tales I hear about insensitive, blundering family members and friends, the more I think if the worst should happen to me, I would make sure that people knew about it, so I had licence to smother people with burgers if they said that kind of thing. Can I prescribe a bagel smothered in chocolate spread and a big hug .

Ei LOL at your exploits! I wish I had some local family so I could do the same I had a lot of fun with that "game" as a kiddie!

Emmsy. Thanks for the tip. I've been wrestling with the temping question since I got the BFP. Part of me wants to carry on so I can do certain things - like be at home - if my temp plummets and part of me wants happy oblivion. The latter has won. I discussed it with DF and he said, just don't go out much until you get to 12 weeks . Actually, he's not as silly as he sounds. I am quite a physical person and prone to dashing around, so taking it a tiny bit easier is probably a good prescription.

Happy Monday to everyone else!

Kate Why oh why do we let people do this to us without saying anything. It's so unfair that they can get away with doing this, they surely know what you have been through, do not blame yourself, it is their fault that they are so selfish and have no concept of what you have been through and what a strong person you are. You are not being "insensitive" your feelings are all valid and don't you dare take any responsibility for it by saying that. If you like you can send us lot round and we'll sort out your in-laws
Hi to everyone else

kate2179 · 21/07/2008 10:23

Morning Yarnie, great to see you on the graduates list!

Thank you for your messages ladies. The ILs know about both mc's. We foolishly told people pretty early with the first one, never thought it would happen to us, blah, blah, blah. And they sent flowers when I went for the ERPC in November. We held off telling people last time, but as I was 17 weeks when Thomas was born pretty much everyone knew by then anyway, we basically told people after the 12 week scan, as you do
They're just a bit crap, but I know it isn't on purpose. I nearly said yesterday "oh, november, I might be being sick again by then if I'm lucky" - kind of wish I had now, maybe I will next time .
Think I should probably spell it out to them a bit more, just say that the reason I was asking about the 2 month olf is because that's how old Thomas would have been. DH said his dad was pretty choked on the phone when we called them from the hospital after he was born. Think it was partly because he would have been their first grandson, they have 6 granddaughters but no grandsons. But they seem to have forgotten now...
Oh well...

In other news... Temps are significantly higher than last week, so think I may have ov'd, possibly on FRIDAY (Day 18). I haven't been very successful at taking my temp at the same time each day, but today it was 36.9 at 7am which def looks like a post OV temp for me.

Ei I'm so glad I'm not the only drunken bum on here! Part of the reason I'm not sure when I ov'd is due to wine at a dinner I had to go to on Thursday night which I think put my temp up, then SO MUCH BOOZE on friday (party) I didn't even bother taking it on saturday . I have a feeeling that I'm going to get told off when I go back for my review at the naturopathic centre... Not stopping yet though! We have a wedding in Carmarthan next weekend, there will be lots and lots of people I went to school and university (Cardiff ) with there and I'm really nervous about seeing them all, and also the man who broke my heart when I was 20 after 3 1/2 years together is the best man... oh, and there's a girl there whose baby's due just after mine was... Not one to be sober at I don't think!

HTGG how are you doing after last week? Is banana cake calorific enough for our meet up? Think I'm addicted...

Hello Emmsy Fruity Sparkly and Mibbes - where are you hiding young lady??

kate2179 · 21/07/2008 10:28

PS [after very long post already ] Ei I noticed on the baby waiting room that lobsterlass has had another mc, at 6 weeks. She was saying she supposes it's another CP but I would have thought that 6 weeks counts fully as an early mc rather than a CP...? I'm not really posting on there atm (seeing as we're not ttc yet), but I think you are? I suppose it only matters if it happens again, but for investigation purposes would it be worth her making sure it was recorded as a mc rather than a CP? I know you know quite a bit about this

kate2179 · 21/07/2008 10:30

X posts, than you Mollie! I think that's a great idea, next time they say something I'll just ask them to hang on a minute, then I'll get you lot round to give them what for! That'll show 'em!

Sparkly08 · 21/07/2008 11:29

Just a quick one from me. Guests have just left and am exhausted so am going to put DD back to bed because she hardly slept last night.
Got an OPK+ yday and had a low temp today so hoping I haven't ovulated yet.
Haven't had a read through yet but will after lunch.

Morning lovely ladies. Been at Mum and Dad's all weekend so first chance to catch up with what's been going on.

Kate Blimey, your in-laws seem rather insensitive. I'd keep going on the old vino if I were you young lady. As Noel Coward said, 'everything in moderation. Including moderation'! Sometimes you just need to kick back, let go and get a little drunk! And yep, banana cake can be included in our coffee morning. Email is [email protected].

Scully. Are you in Oz now? Do you miss the UK? Or does all the sunshine, beautiful beaches, great outdoor living and rather tasty surfers make up for not having Branston Pickle and fish fingers?!?!?! Oh and good luck tonight .

Fruity Mollie Yarnie - how are my fave newly preggers ladies feeling?

Emmsy Am still open mouthed with admiration at 4 kids (and counting!).

Sparkly Fingers (not legs!) crossed for tonight .

Piper Hope all wedding persp are going well. Long time no speak.

Mibbes Where are you? All ok?

Ei - Aaahhhh. Another cider drinker. Am loving Bulmers Pear cider at the moment. Used to drink Diamond White at Uni (bluergh). Two bottles and I was off .

CoffeeMorning - So there's me, Yarnie, Fruity, Kate..... Was Cricri interested? Anyone else coming? There's plenty of coffee shops along the High Street in the Village. If weather nice we can take a walk to the Common and let the little ones run around. Or, (gulp) shall we go kid-free?

QueenyEisGotTheBall · 21/07/2008 13:02

hi ladies
kate i saw the post lobsterlass posted about her CP/MC she is saying her gp is referring her about recurrent MCs so the gp is thinking along the lines of MC rather than CP aswell. my own stupid gp told me there was no such thing as a CP its a MC albeit an early one. she has gotten her referral anyway so hopefully things will work out soon for her
how are you feeling today?? ok i hope
georgie i am only relatively new at the cider drinking buisness hence the supreme drunkeness i was partial to a touch of scrumpy jacks when i was about 16 though just the thought of that makes me feel ill though nowadays haha
