I think Queen Charlotte's is a very good choice. I don't know St Mary's. QC's is supposed to be one of the better ones

Now I've done the research, I wish I'd put the pen in the GP's hand and got her to write the referral there and then! It looks great and as DF can't drive, the proximity is reassuring.

MollieMooma · 18/07/2008 16:40

I see Spaghetti who briefly joined us is now on the March ante-natal thread?

FruitynNutty · 18/07/2008 18:00

Is she? Blimey that was fast!

hello girls, apart from a stinking cold that has gone on to my chest, feeling a lot better today. piper tried to text you hun, but there was a number missing, so have sent you an email xxx
kate sorry for cutting my post short earlier on, I had totally forgotten that I had to pick the children up, its about a 5 min drive from my house and the 2 LO's come out at 3.25pm, I have never done that before, honest!kate Just before brother was sentenced, he got quite drunk and cried, he said it was all our fault that he was going to be locked away, those words haven't helped in my own quest to rid any of the guilt I have carried. On the day he commited the crime, my mum phoned me. I rushed to the hospital with my husband (who works there) and begged him to go in and check the mortuary list to see if the man was dead. I have never prayed so hard in all my life that he was still alive, luckily the man only got 12 stitches(apparently the bed clothes helped the situation) things could have been alot worse, brother could have been serving a life sentence for murder. He did not plead guilty, and because the intent was there, the judge decided to give him a longer sentence. I hope he has learnt a lesson from this, it worries me that he has mixed with 'hardened' criminals in Walton, and that he may still see them after his release, I have definately learnt that you should never take the law into your own hands, even if sometimes the law doesn't always work in the best interest of the victim. At the time that I wanted revenge, I meant it by giving the bloke a few punches, but even this method could have destroyed lives, it only takes 1 unlucky punch so best to grin and bear it anyway girls, not going to go on any more about this, may have an odd moan about the travelling, and if you ever see a 'news headline' "WOMAN GIVES BIRTH ON M6" then you will know it is me!

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 18/07/2008 19:46

Hi Ladies. Back from the funeral. Thank you so much for all your hugs. I managed to keep it together until the last 2 paragraphs and then blubbed. Got it under control. Read the lasta para and REALLY blubbed. DD1 was good as gold and sat all thru the service beautifully. And DD2 had to be taken out after 5 mins by DH cos she was being a pain . Not sure it's really hit me yet. She was a wonderful, amamzing woman. So proud to have been her eldest grandchild.

Fruity - I had DD2 at Kingston. That was OK. Water brith in Malden Suite and gay Irish midwife called David!

Kate - Course you can come to the coffee morning. More the merrier. Can you give me an email address? Or shall I just try and organise on this thread?

Mollie - Eagle eyes! Can I also be a bit as well please.

Yarnie Get a copy of 'What to Expect When You're Expecting. It's been my bible thru both pg.

Hi to everyone else. Sorry, brain a bit mushy. Bit of an emotional melt down now.

Have a great evening one and all. DH off to get me fish, chips and mushy peas. Plus can of shandy!!!! Classy bird that I am . xxxx

Emmsy1 · 18/07/2008 20:10

HTGG really pleased it's now over for you (IYKWIM)You enjoy your chips, fish and mushy peas, and the shandy, think you deserve them, it takes alot of courage to stand up in public, especially under such sad circumstances, well done you! xxxx

QueenyEisGotTheBall · 18/07/2008 22:04

emmsy im glad you are starting to feel better after telling everyone what was on your mind. getting things off your chest even to us goes some way in coming to terms with the situation. i live about 5 mins away from walton prison if ever you need somewhere to rest yourself and a cuppa and a chat. my email is [email protected] if you want to drop me an email {{{{{hugs}}}}}

Just catching up on all the posts after a day and a half without internet access. Fortunately this hotel has wifi so I can get my MN fix Did have a few connection problems though, hence posting at this late hour!
HTGG So sorry to hear about your Gran but pleased everything went as well as could be expected today. Your gran would have been so proud of you and she sounds like a lovely lady.
Emmsy You sound a bit more cheerful today which is good news. Really sorry to hear about all the hassle you're having in RL at the moment - please take it easy. I'm concerned about you driving up and down the M6 every week in your condition. Is HMP Sudbury in Suffolk? That's not far from me.
Yarnie Pleased your GP appt went well. I recommend the Rough Guide to pregnancy. Best thing to do is to go along to a bookshop and flick through a few and see which you prefer. Or buy 4 like I did
Fruity Good news about the scan and also good that you get another one in 2 weeks' time All you can do is take it one day at a time at the moment.
Sparkly Your daughter is adorable! Sorry I missed the big pants photo too
Hi to everybody else Ei, Kate and Mibbes
Let me know when the Wimbledon meet-up is and I'll try to come along. I would love to meet you in RL!
Probably won't get a chance to post again until Tuesday as no internet access until then (I'm in France at the moment) so hope you all have lovely weekends

Emmsy1 · 19/07/2008 06:49

Morning girls, the rain has stopped for the time being so might pop out soon to grab a few things from Tesco's. Did we manage to find out who spaghetti is,could she be Twinkling Fairy?
cricri HM prison Sudbury is in Derbyshire,if it was Suffolk I would have definately found the courage to shout say NO! it's awful when you want to get 'on line' but can't, my trouble is finding the time to do it, and fighting for the lap top with the children They have a new playstation 2 game (sims pets?) and thats keeping them occupied for the time being. On Monday its my 2nd born son's real birthday and he has asked for a few more PS games, so should be able to come on for a while with out any problem. Have ordered the boys a Nintendo DS Lite each for Christmas,I can't keep up with all these new consoles, they also want a Nintendo Wii, but haven't made my mind up about that yet I know it's early to be thinking about xmas presents, but with having a big family I really do have to think ahead! (ordered DS Lite's from Littlewood's catalogue to help with spread the cost hope you all have a lovely weekend xx
p.s Ei thanks for the lovely invitation, brother left Walton a long time ago, he has been in Kennett since and now is in Derbyshire xx

Morning All!

A nice high temp from me today, so feel a bit better about that. I am definitely going to stop temping on Monday when I have my 18 temps. Monitoring it is not going to stop a mc and just stresses me out.

HTGG I'm really glad to hear you got through the eulogy. Well done - it sounds like you did really well You'll be pleased to know, I now have an immense craving for fish, chips and mushy peas!

Emmsy Sorry to hear you have been afflicted with a lurgy. I can't believe you're being so organised about Christmas! I am so . I am sure this year will be just as chaotic as previous years. Probably more so

Cricri Have a lovely time away! Thank you for the book recommendation. DF and I are massive readers (we have a few thousand books between us), so we obviously have stocked up on a few titles. After lots of research, our first purchases were the "Rough Guide" that you recommended for a light read. Our encyclopaedic tome purchase was called "Expecting: everything you need to know about pregnancy, labour and birth". I haven't seen it in many shops and in my opinion it's one of the best. I'd recommend it to everyone.

All in all, DF and I have been disappointed with the books available. DF is a Natural Science graduate and I am a Biomedical Science graduate, so we're fairly well clued up on the science. Maybe we should write a book to fill the gap?!

Next March sounds like it is going to be a full month I was on the "Anyone waiting to test around 18 July" thread and we have 5 BFPs out of 13 people so far, which strikes me as a lot.

I am off to Cheapside Market this morning, followed by a birthday party of our good friend (more lying about why I am not drinking ).

I hope everyone else has a nice day. Big to you all

Emmsy Sorry, should have realised there was more than one Sudbury! BTW Spaghetti isn't Twinkling fairy because she's still on our Due in November thread, although not posting as frequently as she used to. Having said that the thread is so massive that it does get a bit overwhelming at times.
Yarnie Your book idea sounds like a great one Enjoy your day. Antibiotics is always a good excuse for not drinking I shouldn't moan but France really isn't the best place to be when pg Too many temptations!
That's it from me, talk to you all next week

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 19/07/2008 08:45

Just wanted to say good morning to everyone. The fish, chips and mushy peas were absolutely sodding brilliant. Just what I needed.

Emmsy - blimey, you are one corageous, well organised lady. Mind you, with 4 kids I guess you have to be. I have a mental picture of your house being filled with laughing kids, you looking slightly frazzled but totally in your element. Ooooooo. Actually rather like the Darling Buds of May. Not that I see you as Ma Larkin .

Yarnie Go on. Dare you. Write a ante-natal book. Prob better than some of the trash out there. Agree with Cri, antibiotics are best way forward. Or 'pretend' to drink. ie G&T but without the G!

Cricri Course you can come along to coffee morn. Like I said, you MUST eat at least on calorie laden snack to gain full membership .

Coffee Morning - How's everyone fixed mid to end Aug? Everyone back from hols? DD1 away with her dad (got divorced from him when DD1 was 2. DH is younger, sexier, richer version ) so seems to be good time to do it as she'd be bored rigid. Least can bribe DD2 with cakes to keep quiet. Or we can do early Sept? let me know what general consenus is. Am actually excited about this. I think we're all going to get on like a house on fire.

Right, better go and get DD's brekkie. Then off to swimming for DD1.

Hope sun shining a little bit where you are.

xx

Morning lovely ladies

While preg with Ds I read the Kaz Cooke book. I think that was the Rough Guide actually. Is that the same one Yarnie? It is the funniest preg book ever. My friend has it at the moment and loves it. I'd better ask for it back

OP posts:
MollieMooma · 19/07/2008 10:29

Morning ladies
GG So pleased you made it through yesterday, fish chips and mushy peas sounded good but the can of shandy really made it, girl after my own heart!
Emmsy Look at you Mrs Organised knickers for Christmas! Although like you said with your brood you have to be! If it helps I say buy the Wii we have got one and have fantastic fun on it and we don't even have kids Hope your cold goes soon
Yarnie Write the book, write the book, we could all do a chapter each
CriCri Have a fab time in France

I think I'll get a new pg book as the one I had last time, I dont like looking at now thnk I need a new one for the new bean!

Sparkly How are you today, are you streaky?

scully · 19/07/2008 11:29

Well done GG for getting through the eulogy, don't think I could have. And taking your dd2 as well - my dd1 would have been well behaved like yours, but my dd2 sounds similar, except would have had to leave much earlier
I agree Fruity, the rough guide by Kaz Cooke, was brilliant, I read it when pregnant with dd1, in 2001. Very down to earth and a break from all the textbook type books.
The other one I would recommend is by an Australian midwife, which my midwife sister sent to me. I really liked the way it was written, but maybe that was because the style was familiar, given it was written by an Australian (there is a difference between Australian, UK and American books, trust me )
Anyway, the book is called Baby Love and the author is Robin Barker.
I'm with you Emmsy, I only have 2 children and I have already started Xmas shopping. But because dd2 turns 3 on Xmas day, I have 3 lots of presents to buy for. We have layby here, I have already put away $320 of toys/clothes etc that the store keeps and I pay off between now and Xmas Eve (I can pick it up anytime though, once it's paid for). Normal layby time is around 8wks, but in July/Aug the big stores do Xmas laybys where you can pay things off until Xmas Eve, if you need that long.
As I don't have a credit card, it makes it much easier to stick to my budget & buy the more expensive things that we can't do in one hit.
I really missed this option when I lived in the UK, but they were more generous with overdrafts over there
CriCri, very envious you are in France and on the due in Nov thread, I was on it briefly
But enough of that as I had acupuncture last night and have cm today, so have to stop being annoyed at dh tonight, just long enough

scully · 19/07/2008 11:34

Forgot to say, how envious I am of your get together I remember SW19 well, so can picture you all there
I remember Merton Abbey as well Fruity, watched those flats and the Virgin gym get build, near KFC and the markets.
When we used to live in Farnham in Surrey, we would spend the odd weekend with friends in Streatham, drink too much, then drive home on Sunday, via KFC at Merton Abbey
The good old days

FruitynNutty · 19/07/2008 12:09

That's my Gym! I've had to freeze my membership though cos it's so bloody expensive.
One of my mindees used to live in one of the duplex penthouses at the top. Gorgeous flats!

OP posts:
Emmsy1 · 19/07/2008 15:26

HHTG your right, I do look frazzled and am in my element, but the laughing part of it from the children isn't quite so, infact alot of the time they are arguing/fighting/crying and when they have some good fun games together they usually end in tears! It's the boy's, they are so rough with each other, that's why I was jumping for joy when I found out that this baby may be a girl! Don't know if I will still be in my element next June, I have to return to my job as my authorised career break will be over then!(work as a civil servant for Depart of Work & Pensions)
scully Glad to hear someone else is as crazy as me when it comes to starting christmas shopping! I am with Park, its a christmas saving's club, I start sending them money straight after christmas, and I recieve a large quantity of vouchers already paid for at the end of October, these can be spent in Woolworths,Argos,HMV.Iceland and many more other shops. This helps tremendously with the christmas shopping, for the last few years I have also given £200 in vouchers to my SIL because of the situation! I do have a few credit cards but try not to use them too much, as the interest rates are too high.Only been with Park a few years, they are brilliant, you don't get interest added on, you get back exactly what you pay in, and if you are an agent you can get a little extra in commission and bonus's
Mollie with a Wii, do you need to buy any hidden extra's (memory cards etc...) and can you buy games that you can sit down to do? Only, I did visit a relative's house sometime ago, and the children and adults were jumping, boxing, running on the spot, generally making a lot of noise. My neighbours who only have 1 teenage child complained that my children were too noisy when they ran around,it was when I had just had the floors laminated (cheek really, as teenager plays a full size drum kit!)But you know what it's like, son't really want to upset them anymore than I have to!

MollieMooma · 19/07/2008 16:14

Emmsy No hidden extras although you can buy memory cards, you can also buy games that you sit down and play but most of ours I must admit involve moving about quite a bit, but that might just be because we prefer those. They do have a variety for both adult and kiddy so I'm sure you can find something to suit them. You only get one controller though normally when you buy it and you would need 4 if they all want to play together so that would cost extra about £40 each! So maybe not a good idea! Very organised with your Park and Scully with the layaway (I think that is a brilliant idea that they should adopt in the UK) My dad runs a thrift club so I pre-write cheques for the year so that I don't have to remember to give him money, it's worked so far!

Emmsy1 · 19/07/2008 17:58

cricri thanks for letting me know it isn't TF,have you any ideas who it is?
mollie Wii would probably be only used by 7(nearly!) & 8 YO sons, the other 2 who are 3 & 5 haven't started using any type of console yet, thank goodness! it's bad enough with the 'I want's' off the other 2. DD does go on laptop and play CBeebies, but not introduced computer to LO yet, he is 'into' scooby doo dvd's
sparkly are you ok today hun? xx

MollieMooma · 20/07/2008 08:58

Sparkly How are you? I'm worried that you might feel left out as 3 of us are now pg. I hope you don't feel like that, I feel really guilty that you might be fed up with us banging on. Hope you still love us

FruitynNutty · 20/07/2008 08:59

It's very quiet in here this weekend. What's everyone up to?

Georgie mid-late Aug is fine by me. Got no plans I don't think anyway. Go on a Saturday morning if you like. Where s there a nice coffee shop? There used to be a Delice de France can't remember if it's still there. Or there's always Starbucks.
Does anyone else (non London based) think they could come? Be lovely to see everyone
