TTC after chemical pregnancy

I had a MC this Jan , 6 weeks and 1 day. Then I had a CP last Tuesday, 4 weeks and 6 days. I finally stopped bleeding today. Two pregnancies and two MCs so far.

I would like to know what your ttc experiences were like after CP. I admit I felt so lost when I saw the line getting fainter and I have been feeling very low and anxious for the last 7 days. However it is not healthy and it is time to be positive! So, I will be trying again this month. That is why I decided to start this thread.

@LucyCL keep me updated on the hcg test! can any of those hormones detect pregnancy early?

I did take a CB this morning which was unsurprisingly negative so that is proof that my actual peak was CD30. I will probably take another test 12dpo… I would like to take one on my wedding day just to make sure if i can drink or not but that might be too early (8dpo). I’m not a massive drinker anyway so probably won’t make a difference!

I am currently on CD35 with no sign of AF. My longest cycle was 35 days in December so it might turn up tomorrow but I haven’t been spotting like usual so I doubt it.

i have lots to do this week to take my mind of stuff which is good!

I did the female hormone level test this morning and I shall receive the result later today. I am thinking of doing a comprehensive blood test just to see what vitamin(s) my body needs or has too much of and do a hcg test this Friday (10dpo). Yes, female hormones include estrogen, progesterone and others. If there is a rise in estrogen and progesterone in 9/10 dpo, it is likely that you are pregnant. This is my assumption.

In February I reduced alcohol intake from once per month to once every two month and I now have completely stopped drinking alcohol and coffee. I cannot give up tea though... Normally it is better to stop drinking alcohol and start taking prenatal vitamins 3 months before ttc. On your wedding day which is a big day for you, maybe you could drink a small glass of champagne? If I were you, I would sip or drink non alcoholic wine, just to be safe!

In April 2022 I had a CP at 4 weeks 3 days.

It started as as a very faint positive. I instantly changed as a person. I was filled with love and had a sudden feeling of wellbeing. I kept caressing my abdomen and could feel increased blood flow there. But I took 2 more tests that showed a BFN. I felt very confused. Then at work, I felt a painful period-like feeling, I went to the toilet and looked down, I had started bleeding and the pantyliner was completely filled with bright red blood. This was no spotting, it was a full on period and I was heartbroken. It was more painful than a normal period and lasted 7 days instead of my usual 5. The same day that I had a CP, I also tested positive for Covid - I wonder if that had anything to do with the CP?

We didn't TTC for the second cycle because I wanted my body to heal. I still tracked everything - the CP messed up a little with my ovulation for the next cycle - appearing at day 17 instead of day 14/15.

The good thing about a CP is that it boosts your body's fertility for the next 3 months. On the third cycle, my body was back to normal and I conceived so effortlessly. I felt pregnant as early as 6 DPO - there was a very strong implantation sensation and when I tested at 15 DPO, it was a BFP! Now I have a very healthy DS who was completely worth it 😊

Good luck to all the ladies TTC after a CP, you'll get there!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I have been carefully monitoring my ovulation and female hormone levels since CP. It is still the first cycle for me and I am treating 2WW calmly. If I get pregnant, I will watch out for the signs of CP again. If not, I will feel more confident about the second cycle. My body and the cycle will be more normal. I really appreciate what you shared there and that gives people like me some hope! : )

Let me know about your results! Interesting to see them! And also excited for your HGC tests!

I have stopped testing LH now as I was becoming a bit obsessive but did take one last night! I was taking 3 a day to see if it would drop or keep fluctuating. Tbh it is quite high compared to my LH at the beginning of the cycle but we’ll see what happens!

I think I will keep it easy on my wedding day - sips here and there but I probably drink about once every 6 months anyway!

how was your mira chart today? Is everything looking ok?

Firstly I would like to share how I have been feeling.
From dpo 5, I started to have vivid dreams
From dpo 6, I started to feel thirsty
dpo 7 (today), I saw dried up CM on my underwear.

So, my Mira chart has been tainted by my diluted urine because I started to drink a lot of liquid in the evenings.
I knew this was going to happen and that is why I did the female hormone level test this morning to find out the actual figures.
I remember I have told you that I might have low progesterone before... Well, looking at the result makes me realise this might not be the case.
I will do a comprehensive blood test tomorrow just to make sure everything is all right with my body.
Then on dpp 10, I will do the 2nd female hormone level test and a hcg beta blood test.
This is to see if my progesterone and Oestradiol are rising if pregnant.
I have found out that a pregnancy is viable if the progesterone level is above 20–25 ng/mL (63.6–79.5 nmol/L). If mine is within the range on 10 dpo, then I won't be worried if I get a super super faint positive at the same day.
Currently mine is really close, 59.4 nmol/L.

@LucyCL that sounds all good! So PDG keeps rising from here until AF or positive test?

your symptoms do sound very promising and I remember having those last month! I did also think I had those last week but I hadn’t even hit my peak yet 😂 I’m trying to not look into my symptoms but it’s so hard but I have been super busy so haven’t had a chance to even think!

Will you do a home HGC test as well? When do you estimate your AF?

im on cd36 so god knows when my period will come (hopefully ever if I get a bfp!)

i am 5dpo and have been having AF like symptoms but looking back at my notes from last month, I was also having them the so I think it’s just the rising progesterone as implantation deffo has not happened yet.

My CM has been dry in my underwear for about a week and is going between creamy (dried in my underwear) and watery. I don’t know what my CM is like before AF as I never tracked it but last month it was sort of always present.

i will do an early test Friday still just to make sure and then another one next Tuesday! And after that, I’ll wait it out and see what happens 😰 longest cycle ever!

PDG keeps rising from here then drops when AF arrives. Otherwise, it keeps rising with a BFP.
Yes, I am not looking for symptoms at all, just want to share how we have been feeling. : )
At the moment, I do 1 easy at home hcg test every morning.
So I will do a hcg strip test at home with First response test, Clearblue Pregnancy Test Ultra Early Triple tests on 10 dpo.
My AF is expected to arrive this Saturday on 8/6/24. However this cycle is affected by CP so it might be longer... Who knows?😅
Keep me updated with the tests you are going to do please. 💝

So my BBT dropped a bit this morning and there is a slight increase in LH. My Mira chart has been inaccurate because I was super thirsty last night and I drank lots of water which is not like me.
I bought an Apple watch because it can help tracking BBT and Resting Heart Rate during sleep however it needs 5 nights to establish the data.
Here is an interesting fact: people who get pregnant have higher RHRs during the whole pregnancy. Then their RHRs drop after they give birth.
Because of this, as a data lover, I decided to buy it just to test it out.

@GreenPickle I also did a comprehensive blood test this morning and will have the result soon. I am taking 18 tablets to try to reset and balance my female hormones however I also don't know if it is good for me. It will give me peace of mind.

@GreenPickle One more thing- Tomorrow morning if my BBT drops again, that means AF will be here soon. If my BBT goes back up higher than pre-dip, that means it is very likely that I will get a super faint positive on 10 dpo. This is what normally happens. Not always though because BBT fluctuates a lot.

GreenPickle · 06/06/2024 05:14

@LucyCL how are you feeling now? Any more symptoms?

Around 11dpo last cycle were when my boobs started hurting really bad and I remember waking up and feeling super heavy and realllllllyyy tired but I think all my other symptoms before that were just progesterone but I’m still writing everything down this cycle!

please update me tomorrow when you do your 10dpo tests 🤞 and with your temp this morning. But like you say, it fluctuates so don’t feel disheartened!

10dpo is still super early and only the minority get vfl so again, don’t count yourself out!

interesting about the Apple Watch as I’ve been meaning to get one! I’m hoping to get one as a wedding present from my partner but if not, I’ll buy one myself next week! Someone mentioned to me they noticed the temp on it aligning with their BBT (albeit, the Apple Watch one might be slightly less accurate).

im 7dpo today so dont even think implantation has happened yet (although I did get right side twinges on and off yesterday) but probably just gassy 😂 I’ve decided against testing on wedding morning. I think it’ll be too early and I don’t want to be disappointed so will test 12dpo with a digital 🤞

hope we get the result we want this month 😫

GreenPickle · 06/06/2024 05:57

I am thirsty most of time and felt overheated this morning.
My throat started to feel funny two days ago and I think I am having a cold.
My BBT dropped again which might be affected by me trying to breathe heavily during the night. Last night I drank lots of liquid however managed to hold it for 5+ hours. It was FMU.
Something interesting happened ... I saw a shadow on the hcg test strip. Therefore I decided to use the Clearblue Pregnancy Test Ultra Early Triple-Check & Date Combo Pack and they all came back negative. My LH has increased again based on the LH strip.
So I decided to use SMU (1.5 hours) to test hcg again. As expected, my urine was diluted and it was BFN. Also I wanted to see if the test was faulty.
I have never seen an evaporation line on easy at home strips before so I compared it with the first hcg easy at home test which became positive (last cycle, 10 dpo). They look quite similar.

Mine is Apple Watch Series 9 and I will use it to monitor RHR.
I hope you are not too stressed about your wedding tomorrow. : ) It is also wise not to test it on wedding day.

I got the result from the comprehensive blood test. I used to have low Vitamin D and now it is within normal range! Everything is fine so I should not worry about taking so many tablets! On the contrary, I feel less sleepy and exhausted which is a good thing.

@LucyCL I see the line! The one where it’s with the other test looks promising! My only concern is that it has no colour and is grey but I hope tomorrow is good news for you ❤️❤️

how is BBT meant to behave before a BFP?

the digital CB is 25miu so would probably only show positive 14dpo onwards anyway but their ultra early digital with the light on is 10miu so would suggest that! They are £15 for 2 on Amazon so I would recommend using those!

I have heard the people get cold symptoms before a BFP too!

take a test first thing! And then maybe do another hold for the evening! I did get a darker line at 10dpo at around 4.30pm (I was out most of the day so didn’t get to drink so I assume my water was a lot more concentrated!)

my cm is still creamy/milky but not sure if that means anything! But other than that I’m feeling pretty normal. I get crampy but it comes and goes but I’m trying to not look into things too much this month (easier said than done)!

GreenPickle · 06/06/2024 13:21

The shadow did show up within 5 min window. I cannot tell if it has no colour and is grey.
BBT tends to jump again before a BFP. I bought the CB ultra early digital with light and they are coming today!
I will now drink little to hold the pee for 4+ hours to test it again tonight.
My cm is also creamy/milky so we are in the same boat...😆 I have no idea what it means either!
Apart from feeling excited, I don't feel anything.

Also I wish I had bought the Apple watch earlier!
I still need for 4 nights of sleep to establish my BBT in the apple watch... Right now my RHR is 67 BPM and I don't have enough data to know what it means. Not knowing is really not fun ...

@GreenPickle This morning I used FR and easy at home Pregnancy tests with FMU and SMU and they were all negative although my BBT has gone back up and I don't know why.
Today is 10 dpo and I got a super faint line in the afternoon previously. So I will see how it goes this afternoon.
I also have been monitoring RHR and today is the 3rd day.
1st day: 76 bpm
2nd day: 67 bpm
3rd day: 59 bpm

So I have the feeling that I will get AF in the near future which will be fine.

Happy wedding day! : )

Useful information
In the UK you can buy tests online to check your progesterone levels. You use a finger prick to take a blood sample and then post it back, results usually within a couple of days. There are various services which offer them: Medichecks, Randox, Superdrug, One Day Tests

A positive thought of the day - I don't want to be so negative today and I will share something interesting here.
Towards the end of last month, I asked my mum if she had any MCs and she said she didn't. I am her only child. Then I asked when she found out she was pregnant with me and she said that her period didn't come so she went to the hospital. The technology in her time was less advanced than today. Nowadays we are able to detect pregnancies so much earlier. It is a good thing but also makes us aware of the existence of chemical pregnancies. So, after the discussion with my mum, I thought that she could have experienced one or two CPs before or after me and she might have treated them as "heavy periods".

I’m having a CP, I think.

Tested positive last Saturday. AF was due Thursday. Tests were faint but visible and pink, took a clearblue Thursday and yesterday and both were positive. But temperature plummeted last night, today’s FMU was barely positive and SMU was negative. There’s barely a shadow now. No bleeding yet. RHR has returned to normal after being elevated all week.

I’m heartbroken but really hoping that it’s over soon, if it’s got to be over, and that it doesn’t take us long to conceive again. It’s only been a week but I’d got so excited.

I am sorry that you are experiencing a CP. I started this thread on 13/5/24 when I stopped bleeding for 7 days. Every day I have been updating my experience and sharing my findings with others who also suffered from CPs here. If people who are experiencing a CP find this thread, I hope the information and data we provided here will be useful for them. If you want, you can keep me updated and ask any questions here. Update: tonight after holding my pee for 3 hours and I used mira again. My pee maybe more diluted however I am showing my chart here. Also my RHR has been at 65 BPM for the last two days.
That further indicates I am not pregnant and AF might be coming soon. If there is a drop in BBT in the next 3 days, I will be happy to welcome her. So, after being anxious and sad for 2 days, I have finally re-adjusted my attitude. I look forward to starting a new cycle soon.
