TTC after chemical pregnancy

LucyCL · 13/05/2024 16:51

I had a MC this Jan , 6 weeks and 1 day. Then I had a CP last Tuesday, 4 weeks and 6 days. I finally stopped bleeding today. Two pregnancies and two MCs so far.

I would like to know what your ttc experiences were like after CP. I admit I felt so lost when I saw the line getting fainter and I have been feeling very low and anxious for the last 7 days. However it is not healthy and it is time to be positive! So, I will be trying again this month. That is why I decided to start this thread.

@LucyCL yes interested in the PDG test - what will you use?

also excited to see the HCG tests - i used them last month from 1dpo as well but obviously were all very faint from the positive! I think that made me feel worse so promising myself only 1 test if AF doesnt arrive! and maybe one the week after to know all is ok!

if im not successful in the new few months, i will look at the fertility monitor (after temping!) but im hoping this is the month 💗

My pdg results are clearer to see in the screenshot.

@LucyCL wow - super interesting. Is it mainly to see if you have enough progesterone to support a pregnancy?

i hope it works out for both of us!

i stopped taking pregnancy tests when i got my darkest line (which was still super faint) and then had my bleed 3 days later but i knew something was up anyway. But i am in agreement, that I would be able to handle it better this time and maybe see a doctor about it (even though this is literally only my second cycle).

I am CD29 today (8dpo) and have no symptoms really. I have a small bellyache which could be either PMS or pregnancy - or just a bellyache out of anxiety! Will see if I start spotting over the next few days as that will tell me AF is about to join me!

how are you feeling today? when did your LH start going down?

Yeah, I test PDG to confirm two things: one is to see if I actually ovulate and another one is to see if progesterone levels are high enough for long enough, it will stabilize the uterine wall and lead to the best chance of implantation.

I went to see the doctor when CP happened because I wanted to get a referral to recurrent miscarriage clinic however the GP told me that in order to achieve that I would have to have 3 MCs at least. So, if you go to see a GP, it is very likely that you will be given a piece of paper to take to a hospital to do baseline blood tests. This is what I did after the appointment with a GP. I still haven't received the result yet.

I did two female hormone level tests in a private clinic after the first MC because I wondered if I had irregular hormone levels. I did the first test when it was around the ovulation day after MC and the second one when I got my AF (CD2). The test costs £195 which is expensive. Both tests showed that my hormone levels were within normal range apart from my progesterone level. The private GP said that it could be caused by the MC and I shouldn't be worried about it.

Last Thursday I purchased Mira Hormone Monitor which can test 4 hormones (LH, E3G, PdG, FSH). I can test them at home and get the figures and charts. It is like a mini lab at home. When it arrives, I will start testing PdG.

This morning my LH went down and BBT went up as expected so I think I have ovulated. I am feeling calm and I don't have any symptoms of ovulation.
Usually I keep measuring BBT and if it stays elevated then everything is fine. If it suddenly drops, that means you are abut to receive AF or MC is about to happen.

I am sharing 3 graphs with you. One is this cycle with the peak, one is the cycle when CP happened and one is the cycle when I got a BFP (it ended with a MC but it had a stable elevated BBT). I think it might be interesting for you if you want to start temping in the future. : )

This is the first pregnancy when ended with a MC. There is a drop in BBT on 6/3/24 and I started to bleed on 3/3/24. Overall, BBT is really useful to predict what is going to happen to our body if you do it properly.

@LucyCL thank you! the visuals are super helfpul!

I was looking at the Mira tracker the other day but noticed how expensive the sticks were and didnt think it was worth it yet (having only tried for 2 cycles). But please do let me know what you think of it!

I plan on getting trying out BBT if I am not successful this cycle or my June cycle and perhaps also investing into the clearblue fertility monitor as i've heard good things about it!

i am just praying for a BFP this cycle because the whole TTC thing is so consuming and has me becoming so obsessive...

do you have an image of your LH strip today? how long do you think your surge was?

My period is due in the next couple of days (according to previous cycles) so im just holding out hope it doesnt arrive but who knows! too scared to go to the toilet in case i start spottng

Yes, I will let you know when I start to use Mira. : )
I became obsessive only after I had my 1st MC and I just wanted to be pregnant again. The first 2WW (last cycle, this April) after the 1st MC (this March) was like being in a never ending limbo.

I think my LH surge lasted for 1 day based on the concentration level on the app.

However waiting for my hormone levels to return to normal and get the LH peak day has been so emotionally draining and exhausting, much worse than the first 2WW after my 1st MC.

Because of what I have been through after this CP, I feel like this 2WW is going to be like a vacation for me. At least I know my hormone levels are normal because my body ovulated. (based on the LH strips)

This is your 1st 2WW after your CP, has it been different from the last 2WW of your 1st cycle emotionally and physically?

I took another LH test this afternoon and look how quickly it has dropped. This is what my LH peak normally is like. Some people have LH peak for a few days but not mine.

@LucyCL I think the first 2 weeks after my CP, my body was still high with lots of hormones and i was super emotional! I have a cry every now and again, but im back to normal pretty much!

If i ovulated (which I hope I did and I just missed my peak!), this TWW is a lot harder because I want it more than last month because I know my body is capable of getting pregnant.

My last peak didn't last long at all either which is why I think I may have missed my peak this month - i think it goes down in 8-12 hours so i now know for next time to test 3 time a day (starting with SMU!) so I don't miss it!

The symptoms I listed last month around this time we AF-like (light cramps, sore back etc). This time around, I feel like I have an upset stomach (could just be down to being anxious because of the whole thing plus the wedding coming up!). But I am trying not to compare my symptoms to last month!

I am currently on CD30 (9dpo). My CM is creamy/watery (almost milky if that makes sense) and no signs of spotting. I don't want to think too much into things that I notice but get super tired around 2pm + 7pm and find myself to be thirsty a lot of the time but other than that, i feel completely normal.

I'm just taking it day by day (which is hard to do!) to see what my body does next. I'm expecting AF to appear on Saturday but if it doesn't, I will take a test on Sunday (probably the ultra early digital with the light on top!)

Have you taken any tests yet? i know you said you were going to them until a BFP (or AF).

I was also very emotional in the first two weeks after CP. Seeing LH fluctuations definitely didn't help and I even cried for my first MC twice.
My CM has been inconsistent. I got a lot of creamy thick sticky CM on the day when the monitor detected a rise in estrogen and yesterday (Ovulation Day) however other days I got little CM which is clear and a bit sticky.

I know that sperm can stay inside the uterus for 5 days so even you miss your peak, as long as you BD within the first 4-5 days before the peak, it is still very likely that you will get pregnant.

For this cycle, I am interested in seeing how my LH level fluctuates until AF/a BFP because of CP so I took a LH test and an easy at home pregnancy test this morning. Will continue to do so until one of them shows up. I don't have PMS at all which makes it harder to tell when I get AP/a BFP.
My LH level was 0.32 this morning which is 0.01 higher than the yesterday afternoon LH level. It does match the last cycle which was also around 0.31.

No signs of spotting is a good thing!! I remember I took a First response pregnancy test on dpo 10 in the morning and I saw a shadow. Then I took another one in the afternoon, it was a super super faint line.
4 more days for you, which is super exciting! : )
Although it is 1 dpo for me and I feel very relaxed and calm, there is still a tiny part of me getting excited for the potential BFP.

What does your premom app say? Could you show the picture?
Also a high amount of HCG can also have a high amount of LH.
If you use LH test, if you are pregnant, you can have a positive LH.

I took an Asda pregnant test but it’s negative so I’m pretty sure I’m not pregnant.

My wee was very diluted and the tests are meant to be used after missed AF but I do have a clear blue 6 day early (not digital though) that I may take in a few hours but I think my cycle is just messed up because of CP!

will save the digital one for sunday anyway.

Who knows, might get a BFP on my wedding day! annoying as we haven't had sex since last wednesday so not sure about my chances! will just have sex for the next week!

Wow! I didn't know women could get LH surges (even LH peaks) right before AF. Some women can also get it before getting a super faint pregnancy test (I checked online just now).
I find this very fascinating because our bodies can always surprise us! That gives me a lot of incentive to test LH every day until AF/a BFP as an interesting experiment to understand our body a bit better.

Yes, I have read a lot of threads here about how CP can delay ovulation day or make it earlier to happen.
Thank you so much for sharing this with me!! : )

@LucyCL yes! it looks like they can - i think your body releases some more hormones before AF...but honestly who knows.

I think it might be AF because I'm getting cramps (but honestly, could just be in my head at his point!)

Deffo keep experimenting with the LH strips but looks like your peak has happened which is a good sign!

So strange how my CB gave me a static on CD13! would be interesting to see what happened if i kept taking them but I think they would have reset now and will only show a circle if I took it tomorrow with FMU!

I'll just have to keep taking it day by day and see what happens and carry on with the LH strips!

How are your LH levels today?

How are your LH levels today?

I remember you mentioned the digital CB was quite sensitive to a sudden rise in LH and I also got two static smiles from the digital CB on two different days. It worked for me last cycle which was a normal one until CP.
So, I don't think the digital CB is good for the first cycle after MC because the hormone levels fluctuate a lot. But it is good for a normal cycle for sure! I'd be interested to see if it shows a static smile or a blank circle if you take it with FMU tomorrow!

My LH has dropped further down to the similar level like the last cycle (1dpo) and my BBT remains elevated which also matches the last cycle.
It never occurred to me to continue to take LH tests until AF/a BFP in the past.

I watched an online youtube video talking about HCG and LH. The person said that if there was high HCG in your system, then there would also be high LH at the same time. So before today, I always thought that LH would remain low then high until you got a BFP or low until AF. At least, this is what most graphs from the internet tell me! I have attached one so you can understand why I was amazed to know women could get LH surges before AF.

@LucyCL ah yes, that’s a thought. I wonder if my LH was just playing up because of the CP and my body was trying to regulate itself (which would work out with getting a positive OPK 3 weeks after that static!)

the CB will always show a blank cycle for the next ‘cycle’ - so it would be 2 days until it showed anything useful so I’ll save them for next month!

i wonder if my LH remained in the mid-range (for me) because I didn’t ovulate when it ‘peaked’ on CD20 so it has been trying to do it again - maybe successfully this time?

I also found this article (image) about implantation and LH. Could be something but could be nothing.

i think at this point only time will tell! Although the waiting is hard 😓 but I have lots of stuff to keep myself busy!

when do you normally ovulate (before CP) and when are you expecting your period? Would be super interesting to see your LH graph in the run up to a BFP or AF!

looks like I am 2 days behind you now (if AF doesn’t show)!

The paragraph you shared is definitely interesting! I know we had CP and were trying to find our LH peaks until today. I'd be so curious if it turns out to be a BFP or you are 2 days after me and are about to ovulate tomorrow if still no AF!
I had 3 LH rises after CP before I got LH peak so I believe that our bodies tried to gear up to ovulate for a few times based on what we have shared with each other.
Sadly we cannot find that out from your BBT and at this point BBT will rise if it is close to the peak day however fingers crossed!!
Yes, I will share my daily LH graph in the run up to a BFP or AF here!

Past cycles before my 1st MC: 28 - 35 days, I used to ovulate on CD14

Cycle 0: 15/12/23 - 20/1/24: I don't know when I ovulated because I was so busy and stressed therefore I wasn't tracking my LH. Looking at my BBT chart for this cycle, there was a BBT rise apart from CD11 then it immediately dropped below my baseline. Then there was a BBT rise on CD 28 then I had my period. 35 days.
Maybe a short luteal phase? 6 days?

Cycle 1: 21/1/24 - 2/3/24 (the cycle when I had a MC): I ovulated on CD14, and had a MC on 2/3/24. 42 days

Cycle 2: 3/3/24 - 2/4/24 (the cycle after MC): I didn't BD and I ovulated on CD21. 31 days
11 day luteal phase

Cycle 3: 3/4/24 -6/5/24 (the second cycle after 1st MC): I ovulated on CD17 then CP happened on 7/5/24. 34 days

Cycle 4: 7/5/24 - (the cycle after CP) , I ovulated on CD22.

So after each MC, I ovulated late, between CD21 and CD22.
Cycle 1 and 3 are more like my regular cycles because I used to ovulate on time on CD14 in the past.
Cycle 3 looks like my body was trying to get back to normal --->ovulating on CD17.
If Cycle 4 had been a normal cycle (assuming AF arriving, no BD), I would have had ovulated on CD14.

What do you think?

@LucyCL yes, your first cycle might be an anomaly. My December cycle was 35 days because of stress - had lots of things going on!

I think your body will get back to normal next cycle if you don’t get a BFP (🤞). It seems your multiple losses have caused it to go a bit haywire!

looks like you’re pretty fertile anyway with two pregnancies close together and I reckon your next BFP will stick!

I think bbt would stress me out even more but I’m willing to give it a go if my next 2 cycles are unsuccessful as it seems my body does ovulate!

bit of a de-motivator to have my surge so far into a cycle but also good that I probably won’t get AF for my wedding 🙈hopefully will get a BFP when we go away afterwards as I’ll be around 10-12dpo!

I’ll buy some ultra early digitals just for the occasion lol

GreenPickle · 29/05/2024 13:44

@LucyCL I think this deffo might be my surge rather than AF! Looks like my cycle will be VERY long this month. The reason I took one today was because I had some EWCM so I think my body has been trying to ovulate for some time! (also had EWCM on CD13 when CB was static).

i also did a clearblue 6 day early but negative as suspected!

hopefully I’m still in with a chance if I BD today and for the rest of the week 🤞🤞

will probably take a few more tests today to see if it starts going down (and it will give me a good idea on how long my surge is).

This is super super exciting! I am really happy that you are having LH peak today!! That means we are more or less at the same page when we find out if we get BFPs or not. : )
Remember the egg only survives for 24 hours so when your LH goes down, it means the egg has been released. Definitely have BD today and the next few days. This LH peak might be different from your last one as it is affected by CP. It might last longer than before. Please keep me updated.
