TTC after chemical pregnancy

I had a MC this Jan , 6 weeks and 1 day. Then I had a CP last Tuesday, 4 weeks and 6 days. I finally stopped bleeding today. Two pregnancies and two MCs so far.

I would like to know what your ttc experiences were like after CP. I admit I felt so lost when I saw the line getting fainter and I have been feeling very low and anxious for the last 7 days. However it is not healthy and it is time to be positive! So, I will be trying again this month. That is why I decided to start this thread.

Big hugs 🤍

I had a chemical last cycle (which was my first cycle ttc) so now I’m in the middle of a new cycle. Currently CD15! We decided to start ttc straight away pretty much.

i’ve seen lots of positive stories online about getting pregnant the cycle straight after (but, I’ve also seen stories that go the other way). It really is soul destroying doing another cycle once you see that BFP! I actually cried after the first time we had sex this cycle 😂😂😂

I feel like I’ve just come out the other side of it these past few days (aka I’m not crying 10 times a day now).

Be kind to yourself! It was your body telling you it wasn’t a viable pregnancy (as crap as it is).

I won’t be taking tests early this cycle. Going to wait until AF is due and then go out and get a digital, would rather just think my period is late! I’ll probably test at the end of the month!

but also, would love to hear other positive stories ❤️❤️

leanne2105 · 14/05/2024 14:08

@LucyCL So sorry to hear about your losses 💔 It really is heart breaking as you saw the positive line and maybe got a bit excited about the reality. I've sadly been there twice this year :(

My partner and I started TTC in Dec 23. We got our first positive in March 24 and then lost it (CP) at 4 weeks and 2 days. The early pregnancy unit advised that we are more fertile after a loss. We started TTC the following month and got our second positive April 24 and then lost it (CP) at 5 weeks and 3 days. I always tested after my missed period as I'm regular , I track with Flo.

My GP has agreed for me to have a blood test and pelvic scan. He advised that it is common to have CP's and then go on to have a successful pregnancy. I'm now 2DPO and feeling anxious.

I hope you don't mind me jumping on your thread for positives stories xx

I’m about 1dpo according to my clearblue digital opk so similar timeline! Not planning on testing until the very end of the month.

Did you do anything this cycle to track ovulation? I’m getting fed up with different OPKs giving me different answers 😂😩

Yesterday I actually felt like myself again after I had sex for the first time this cycle. 😂I am a person who likes to have data so I will be tracking my LH then HCG as usual. However I will not be looking for any symptoms or any videos about 2WW. I did that last cycle and it was so emotionally exhausting! This cycle I will be more calm and I should really really TAKE IT EASY!
I have seen so many threads about having successful pregnancy after CP which gives me a bit of hope however I also don't mind hearing the unsuccessful stories which could give me a heads up!
I went to a GP and told them about my two MCs so they arranged a blood test for me and it is in the morning tomorrow. I will keep you updated. : )

@LucyCL To be honest I've never tracked my ovulation. I track my periods on Flo and I have a rough idea when ovulation is due. I can usually tell with my CM. Last couple of months I was symptom spotting. This month I'm trying to keep my mind busy with work and my house. Let's hope for the best.

Let's keep updating the thread with how we get on x

I have been using cheap LH easy at home stripes to track my ovulation and they do work. However because I like to collect data and I believe having different kinds of OPKs will help to improve the accuracy so I also used Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation Tests and Proov PdG - Progesterone Metabolite – Test | Only FDA-Cleared Test to know the exact date of ovulation and if I successfully ovulated. After CP, I also bought Clearblue Fertility Monitor, Ovulation & Fertility Test. This is to encourage or more like force me to to test LH at the certain time every morning. In the past, I tested LH at different times in the morning which didn't help with the consistency of the collected data.
Right now I am using premom which I record daily LH and BBT, and sometimes PdG at certain dates. Because my cycles have been extended from 28 days to 35 days due to MCs, and this morning premom detected a "LH peak" and it is convinced that today is my ovulation day. Currently it changed the length of this cycle from 35 days to 17 days. 😅
I will have a look at the app Flo...

Omg I was CONSUMED by the videos 😂😂😂 and tbh, anything before 10dpo is just progesterone rising anyway so nothing to do with a BFP or not! I didn’t really have many symptoms anyway, just felt like my period was about to come.

yesss, deffo take a more laidback approach (easier said than done)! But agree with the data stuff, I like tracking the LH etc. I used up all my cheap hcg tests last month so I don’t have any temptation lol

A girl after my own heart ❤️

how do your OPKs compare in terms of peaking at the same time?

last cycle, my digital CB had my peak at CD17 and then my easy@home strips peaked on CD20… so a 3 day difference.

this cycle, I got my CB peak on CD13. I’m CD15 now and still no easy@home peak.

at this point, I’m ignoring the LH ratios because the bottom one was uploaded at 0.17 but I changed it 0.33 because it was visibly darker than the other 2 this morning!

the whole thing is so confusing and consuming. I will have sex either way but I just like to know the facts!

Actually I don't feel anything during my cycles. Even I don't have any symptoms before and during AF. Last month I decided to learn how to differentiate different stages of the cycle by feeling the CM. Before that, I knew nothing. As you can see, I have to rely heavily on OPKs.

I took a picture of the list of tomorrow's blood test and I don't know what they are for. 😅

Last cycle I used premon app, LH easy at home strips and Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation Tests.
LH easy at home strips: There was a PH peak on CD16
Premon app: Also a peak on CD16
Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation Tests: It can detect 4 or more fertile days. It started to have a flashing smiley face on CD12 (high fertility). It started to have a static smiley face on CD15 (peak fertility) and it stayed the same for 48 hours.
So, they were very precise.

Did you test LH at different times ? Maybe that is the reason of the inconsistent data?

Did you drink much before each test? Finding that I am always super dehydrated before taking these tests because im worried my wee will be too diluted😩

not even sure what test I can trust, just going to keep testing and see what happens!

In the previous cycles, I always drank tea because I love tea so I had to go to the toilet at least twice in the middle of the night and my urine was always diluted. For this cycle, I stop drinking any liquid before 6 p.m. or drink little amount of water if I get really thirsty. I also do two LH tests, one in the morning and another one in the afternoon. Again, I love collecting data. 😅
This morning I had to call NHS to cancel the first antenatal appointment and this has happened twice now... So, when you found out you were pregnant, did you tell your GP immediately or wait for a while ?
In my case, I self-referred to the hospital online for both pregnancies as soon as I found out I was pregnant.
I did the baseline blood test and it is a general standard one for everyone so it is not specific to pregnancy. This helps them to narrow the factors of miscarriages down... I have no idea how long I have to wait to get the result.🙂

I had 3 CPs in 6 months and ended up needing reproductive immunology therapy in order to get pregnant. If you have any more, would definitely recommend seeing a specialist.

leanne2105 · 15/05/2024 13:48

@Pupsandturtles Sorry to hear about your 3 losses. Thank you for sharing the above message. I've just googled reproductive immunology therapy .....

"Reproductive immunology refers to the phenomenon of immunological arrest that allows a mother to accept a foreign embryo. "

I feel like this is what I need. I've told the doctors that I'm getting pregnant but my body keep rejecting it. I've got a blood test next Tues and I'm waiting to have a ultrasound.

Have you been prescribed with any medication?
Did you get pregnant?

Pupsandturtles · 15/05/2024 13:50

Yes I did, so far going well but of course I’m nervous. I’m on immune suppressants (steroid) and blood thinners. As far as I know, it’s not something the NHS will treat as it’s still experimental, so you’d probably have to go private if you wanted the tests to check out your immune system. It’s still a controversial area, but it’s worked for a few people I know. PM me if you want any more details- also there’s a chapter about it at the back of it starts with the egg

ah ok super interesting! I’m still waiting on my peak but I feel like I might have missed it on CD13 in the evening. I’ve been doing about 4/5 tests a day since then to see what time is best 😂 may just skip the tests for the rest of this cycle and have sex as often as possible until next week!

Yes, I self-referred! My maternity unit had an online dashboard but my timeline was

Monday - positive test
wednesday - self-referred
friday - they rang and booked an appointment for 4 week’s time. They also sent out a letter to book a blood test but this turned up after the CP so just binned it.

I think if i get a positive again, I will wait until im over the 6 week mark to self refer. I will also probably book an early scan for week 7 (I did actually book one in last month but obviously had the CP so had to cancel but I would wait longer this time!). I think I’d want to see a 2-3 weeks on a digital test first 😥

let me know your results when you get them!

Wow, that was a lot of CPs... I am glad that you have found the cause of CPs. Thank you for sharing with us!
For my first MC, I did a comprehensive health check and female hormone level check. The results were normal but my progestogen was a bit low. The doctor said that it could be affected by MC.
For the second MC (also my first CP), I don't know what went wrong. Is there a private recurrent miscarriage clinic you could recommend? I am based in London.

Please keep us updated with the blood test and the scan. What do you feel when your body keeps rejecting the pregnancy? How do you know it? x
For this CP, after the ovulation day, I felt a dull ache on dpo 3 in the area below the bellybutton toward the right hand side. It came and went away the following days. Then on dpo 11, the day when I found out I was pregnant, I felt dull ache again, 3-4 times. Do you think it was my body rejecting this pregnancy?
Because I didn't experience this for my first pregnancy.

4-5 tests are a lot! 😀I recommend you to use Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation Tests Kit (OPK). Although I only used it for the last cycle however it definitely helps you to identify the peak fertility day (the static smiley face shows up 48 hours before ovulation day).
Also yesterday I tried to use Flo and its predicted ovulation day for me is next Friday (which is also my guess!). I am currently on CD9 and I used to ovulate on CD14/15 however because of the MCs, I ovulate late.

Cycle 1 (3/3/24 - 2/4/24) , also the cycle of the bleeding of MC: I ovulated on CD20

Cycle 2 (3/4/24 - 6/5/24) , CP happened on 7/5/24: I ovulated on CD 17

Cycle 3 (7/5/24 - ), the current one: Flo expects me to ovulate on CD18

I don't know what this CP is doing to my body and LH. Normally LH should get darker each day however based on the cheap easy at home LH strips, my LH levels are decreasing ... and today is CD9 for me.

A LH peak usually gives me a T/C ratio which is above 1 and for my last cycle, it was 1.38. I have been looking at your picture and I don't think you have had your peak yet. Also the lines on your LH strips are somewhat fainter than others. What was your T/C ratio when you had LH peak for the last cycle?

Dpo 10: I found out that I was pregnant
dpo 11: I did a hcg blood test, then I self referred
Dpo 13: Did another blood test, and it was more than doubled. I was very happy
Dpo 15: HCG got darker.
Dpo 16: fainter
Dpo 17: fainter

I actually booked a 5 week scan for this pregnancy because I wanted to see the gestational sac in the uterus then when I was 4 weeks and 6 days, CP happened so I had to cancel it one day before...

So yes, next time when I find out I am pregnant, I will wait until week 6 at least. However I also love my body very much so I will book a 5 week scan just to make sure it is not an ectopic pregnancy. Health is the most important thing for us, really.

Yes so I have the CB digital and that showed peak on Sunday (CD13) - no flashing smiley this month - but my strips still haven’t surged which is why I thought I had my surge Sunday evening but I may have missed it because I didn’t do a test after 3pm 😩

currently on CD16 but my peak MAY come tomorrow which is annoying as my partner is away so can’t do the deed! He’s back Friday but I fear it may be too late. we have had sex everyday pretty much this cycle so I’m hoping that it helps

looks like I’m ovulating early this cycle if I go by CB but again, they were 3 days out from each other last month (CB peak CD17 and e@h peak CD20!)

last month peak was 1.05 but not sure how long it lasted! Deffo not for a full day though.

also, ignore the flo app predictions! They go based off an average of everyone and not your actual cycle. They are normally way off! Once you start inputting data, they get better (you can add ovulation results etc).

cancelling the bookings was the hardest part. My early scan would have been this Saturday 😬 we will get our positives one day but hard not knowing the when!

I have been so confused with the LH line progression after CP. I understand that women tend to ovulate late after MCs including CP and have lower LH. However seeing my lines not progressing makes me wonder if I will ovulate at all. You told me that you had a LH surge with no flashing smiley face which is really interesting! Does it mean I might have a sudden LH surge like yours?
I have looked at other forums about ovulation tracking after CP and some women did have similar line progressions like ours, pretty low LH and they ovulated late as well.
My question is do you also track BBT from the first day of this cycle? BBT is another way to track ovulation however the trend of my BBT has been really strange for this cycle. Are you experiencing the same thing?
It is quite difficult to figure out the peak day after CP... It really messes our cycles up.

My question is do you also track BBT from the first day of this cycle? BBT is another way to track ovulation however the trend of my BBT has been really strange for this cycle. Are you experiencing the same thing?
It is quite difficult to figure out the peak day after CP... It really messes our cycles up.

I tested again this morning and my LH is ‘high’ so no doubt my peak will be later or tomorrow. Might do another test later but not sure as hubby isn’t here tonight!

I think keep testing! My LH is normally around the 0.10 - 0.25 mark on a normal day and high for me is probably anything over 0.5! You might hit your peak a tiny bit later..

how long are your cycles normally? I’m CD17 and I hit my peak around this time last month but again, CB and e@h had conflicting answers 😂 I did find FMU useful for me
though!

I don’t BBT! I think I’d forget and find it stressful enough taking the strips lol. If I’m not successful by July, I will probably give it a go though and get rid of the CB ☺️ but I’m hopeful this is a good month (albeit annoying can’t have sex today which is the only day we’ll miss this week!)

I think the same thing just happened to me too. I used to have a 28 day cycle however because of MCs , my cycles vary between 30 and 34 days. Thank you for the heads up mentioning you had a static smiley face without flashing ones.
Yesterday I used CB digital and it had a blank circle and today it has a static smiley face whereas e@h shows a darker line however it is still low according to the app. The monitor also shows "low" this morning. I am in the same situation like you 5 days ago. My BBT dropped today and my LH is increasing which adds more to the confusion.
So, I will keep testing until I get a more consistent trend. I will also accept the possibility of not ovulating this month.
Baby dust to you!😀
