TTC after chemical pregnancy

1000 replies

LucyCL · 13/05/2024 16:51

I had a MC this Jan , 6 weeks and 1 day. Then I had a CP last Tuesday, 4 weeks and 6 days. I finally stopped bleeding today. Two pregnancies and two MCs so far.

I would like to know what your ttc experiences were like after CP. I admit I felt so lost when I saw the line getting fainter and I have been feeling very low and anxious for the last 7 days. However it is not healthy and it is time to be positive! So, I will be trying again this month. That is why I decided to start this thread.

Wishing you lots of luck in your next cycle, well done for staying so positive throughout.. you’ve definitely helped me keep a positive mindset. I also think it’s so empowering how much you’ve got to understand your body.

I’m 7DPO today and believe I’ve just got a vvfl on an e@h test 😬 My nausea seemed to ramp up this weekend so decided to do a test as we’ve just got back from being away. My nausea started on 5th but my ovulation day was down as 7th according to Premom, I now think this must be wrong?

I actually don’t know how I feel (not to be ungrateful at all)… very happy obviously but also feel so so paranoid that it’s going to be CP again. Or maybe the line is wrong!! I think I’ll do a FRER in the morning with FMU. The anxiety is now another level, definitely a tricky one to navigate.

My LH level seems to have risen this evening, any idea why this would be?

Thank you so much for all your advice over the last few weeks, has helped me so much ❤️

Wow, you are one of the lucky ladies who got a BFP immediately after CP. 💝You must feel like the void in your heart has finally disappeared! After Joleyjojo, you are the second one! It kind gives me hope because it is also true for some people being extra fertile after MCs. This is only the third cycle for me after CP so I am still within 3 months! Hahahaha!
I wish you will have an uneventful pregnancy! Please keep us updated on how you get on! Sending lots of virtual hugs to you!

Thank you @LucyCL @Carportforme for the ZitaWest feedback I may try it next cycle I've heard good things.

@LucyCL Sending you lots of luck and baby dust for this new cycle ✨

Thats interesting about late ovulation and lower quality eggs...with my first ever pregnancy I ovulated CD19 and resulted in MMC. My next successful pregnancy I ovulated CD16. The last pregnancy I had which was a chemical I had ovulated CD19. This time I think I ovulated CD20. My usual cycle I ovulate day 19/20 and they last around 32 days but I don't have a clue what will happen this cycle as it's the first since CP. I don't know if there is a correlation there between ovulating later and the miscarriages it may just be coincidence as it is normal for me to ovulate at that time and is not quite classed as 'late' at CD19/20. The cycle that I had my pregnancy with DD I just randomly ovulated earlier than usual. I'm trying not to put any expectations on this cycle as it's my first since last miscarriage although it is hard.

Im thinking is AF appears this time to look at ZitaWest and specifically a supplement for egg health. I also really need to clean up my diet it's been shocking for the last few months I need to feel healthier for going into another pregnancy.

@ThisSparklyDog Im so sorry for your losses, it really is hard. I struggle with this too and I am someone who symptoms spots, tests a lot etc but I'm really trying to refrain and take the pressure off as it just ends up winding me up and then feeling more gutted when AF appears. I find it helps me if I come up with a positive plan for the next cycle, just little things to try and improve my chances so this next cycle I'm going to improve my diet and look for some egg health supplements. Also I try to read or find a good series to watch so I'm not constantly consumed by TTC. Wishing you lots of luck for this cycle ☘️

You are very welcome and I realise I mentioned I have the best ones and I meant the boost ones 😁

Here is what I found:
How Do the Hormones LH and hCG Differ?
Both hCG and LH bind and function through a common hCG/LH receptor. The biggest difference between the two is that the hCG pregnancy hormone has a circulating half-life that is approximately 80-fold longer than that of LH.4 One study refers to hCG as a “super LH produced in pregnancy,” with 80 times the biological activity of LH.1

Because the protein components of hCG and LH look very similar, an ovulation test is unable to distinguish between LH and hCG in your urine. Therefore, the right amount of either hormone in your urine will result in a positive OPK test result.

A lot of people who got pregnant straight away went on to have a healthy pregnancy (This is what I have read online, so many CP related threads on mumsnet! 😆) I believe this one is going to stick but I suggest you to do a hcg blood test to establish the baseline HCG. Then you do another one after 48 hours to see if it doubles. If it does, then it is likely to be a viable pregnancy if the line keeps getting darker. Good luck!!

You may have heard that ovulation tests can be used to test for pregnancy. In this guide, we’ll walk through the somewhat complicated answer.

Thank you for sharing the insight on late ovulation! To be honest, people who ovulated late also went on to have healthy pregnancies (Again, I have read lots of late ovulation related threads online😁). But in my case, a person who has had two MCs, only one month between both, is likely to have "bad quality eggs" because of the hormonal imbalance caused by 2 MCs. This is my guess, anyway.
Your first cycle could be a wonky one or you might get pregnant quickly. It is safe to take it day by day and be cautiously positive and hopeful at the same time. Sending positive vibes to you!!

The third cycle: New cycle and new plan!
I have booked more blood tests.

16/7/24 CD 3
PCOS blood test, AMH test, Fertility Health test

17/7/24 CD 4
Comprehensive blood test

18/7/24 CD5
PCOS scan

It is recommended to do them between CD2 and CD5.
The blood tests which I did previously took place in the second week of the cycle so I want to do them again, only properly this cycle.

I am less worried about my hormone levels for the third cycle but I will once again make sure everything is fine. That is what 2 MCs have done to me.😅Nowadays I get spooked easily when I see my hormone levels fluctuate a lot.😂

However I will probably not do a 7 dpo progesterone test this cycle.

Congratulations @CJ2021! Wishing you all the best.

My period is usually 5 days regularly; but I had some spotting yesterday and I'm lightly bleeding this morning. It's CD7, so a bit unusual for me.

Otherwise nothing to report! @LucyCL I'll re-read all of your great insights later - you're so knowledgeable and dedicated about all this.

Hi, very difficult to say as this is only my second cycle taking it. Started all the ZW after my CP at end of May. Probably worth me mentioning that I am celiac and have a couple of other allergies so I don’t absorb vitamins as well as others might, hence why I decided to take the Boost as well.

Thanks for sharing! I was using PROCEIVE conception and PROCEIVE Conception & Pregnancy Omega 3 before CP then switched to Zita West after it happened.
My cycles after CP have been regular so far, exactly 34 days. I am not sure if Zita West helped or not. Only time will tell.

I think your body is still trying to adjust itself this cycle. My first and second cycles after CP have been exactly 34 days. I bled for 7 days for the 1st one and 5 days for the second one. I normal bleed for 5 days so I expect to bleed for 5 days for the third one. If no BFP this cycle, I reckon you will bleed for 5 days next cycle.
It takes 2- 3 cycles for some of us to return to our normal menstrual cycle.
Thank you! If I find something interesting/useful/insightful, I will share the info here.😀

There are some of us who are still experiencing pain/stress after CP here. Personally I am over it now. Nonetheless, I am really happy that my thread has helped you which is really important!

Thought of the day - The fertility iceberg
People will never understand what we have been through unless they have experienced TTC themselves.
I can understand why my mum loves me so much because I am her only child, the product of her only viable pregnancy. Nowadays whenever I see a person, I always think of her/him/them as the result of a viable pregnancy. I think every life is a miracle.😅

The 3rd cycle after Cp - CD3
My oral BBT went down to 36.4 which means everything has been reset.
My RHRs of the first week of the second cycle after CP were higher. Does it mean the RHRs of this week are my true RHRs before 2 MCs? That is something to keep in mind in the first week of the fourth cycle after CP if I still don’t get a BFP.

My wrist temperature charts still don’t tell me anything.

Will wait until CD8 to share and compare the charts of RHR and wrist temperature of the first week of both cycles.

This cycle I plan to start testing LH as soon as I stop bleeding. Half way to CD6!

Some of us might find this useful:
My LH and estrogen levels fluctuated a lot during the 1st and 2nd cycles after CP until I got my peaks.
Estrogen plays an important part in the follicular phase. The first estrogen surge will trigger the LH surge 4 days later so you can get your O day.

For this cycle, I have started to drink 1 glass of grapefruit everyday to boost estrogen hence I could ovulate earlier. I will let you know if it works. 😃

I am sorry that you are still a part of this not so good girl's club but you are not alone! 😉You could experience heavy bleeding or just normal flow. It is up to you but if I were you, I would still do OPKs and tempting to understand if my future cycles have been changed completely after CP.

Not doing OPKs and tempting can make you feel lost because you don't know when you ovulate. The cycle length and the O day could be completely different. So, it might even cause you to miss your O day.

Please treat this new cycle as a new exciting journey to understand and reconnect to your body once again.😁
