Hi all, is it okay to join? First month of TTC number 2!

We conceived the first cycle with our first by doing SMEP, so definitely recommend! We are going to loosely doing it this time too and see how we go for the first few cycles!

I'm also TTC number 2! Number 1 we fell on so fast, this time round is being a bit more problematic! I didn't realise until I read about SMEP but I think I've been doing that without even knowing, minus the testing, do you use the ovulation tests too?

MaybeBaby2024 · 14/04/2024 21:07

Think it may just be wishful symptom spotting but I swear my boobs are never this sore at 2 DPO. And I know it’s impossible to have symptoms this early as implantation won’t have even happened yet!
But so annoying how hyper aware you become lol.

I’m prepping myself that this time won’t be as quick as I felt so lucky last time.

I didn’t track with ovulation sticks last time. I’ve been logging my periods for years using Flo, so used that tracking with EWCM as an indication as to when I was ovulating.

I hope this is the cycle for you 🤞🏽

YaWeeFurryBastard · 15/04/2024 07:50

CD11 for me so entering shag week 😂. I usually ovulate between CD15-17 which will be Friday to Sunday so fingers crossed!

Marie1990x · 15/04/2024 08:14

@Firsttimetrier ahh that’s good to hear, fingers crossed it works out!

seems there is quite a few of us TTC number 2 here.

I’ve been taking folic acid and multi vits and seems my OPK’s are gradually darkening. Whereas usually they’re still barely detectable at this stage, so hoping the vitamins are helping and won’t be another horrendously long cycle. Or probably just a coincidence/speaking too soon 😂

Daniki · 15/04/2024 08:35

Does anyone get super long periods? Mine usually last 7 days but they're always tapering off in intensity at the end. I'm on day 6 and still as heavy I leaked all over the bed last night! (Sorry TMI) iv had a migraine since Friday, wonder is it the medication I'm on tho causing that. 🥴

Ah that reminds me to pick up some vitamins! I was taking the conception vitamins last time, so need to get on those!

I always thought I’d be well on the way to having a second but feel like we’ve just come out of the woods with our first (he’s 20 months) to now consider a second!

PondwoodS · 15/04/2024 11:16

Hey everyone - out of interest - those of us TTC #2 are you mid 30s or older ? I know they say it’s harder after 35 and I’m recently 36 - so wondering if it’s age related this time round ? 😬

MaybeBaby2024 · 15/04/2024 11:36

@PondwoodS I’m 32, concieved DC1 at 30. Age could be a factor.

Marie1990x · 15/04/2024 11:49

@PondwoodS I’m 34. Conceived DD when I was 31. I definitely feel more pressure now I’m mid 30’s

Firsttimetrier · 15/04/2024 12:08

@PondwoodS I’m 34 now and conceived number 1 when I was 31.

Same here @Marie1990x! Especially as we conceived first cycle the first time.

I’m exact same - 30 with dd and now 32.

Don’t loose hope if you are mid 30s it’s definitely not ‘too late’. That said, the stats can be googled and it’s pretty clear that fertility declines during the decade 30-40.

Hey! I don’t think it’s ever too early to symptom spot - I’ve been pregnant twice (2nd was a chemical) but both times have 100% known early on. Sore boobs is a classic, fc for you!

I’m 8dpo today and woke up with insane nausea.. praying this Is our month.

mamataylor · 15/04/2024 12:54

@PondwoodS I’ve not long turned 28, conceived DD1 at 24 and it’s taking us much longer this time x

mamataylor · 15/04/2024 12:56

@maybemumtobe I’m 8dpo today too! I’ve had an increase in yellow tinged CM the last couple of days and usually I’m completely dry so hoping that’s a good sign!
I have everything crossed for you x

PondwoodS · 15/04/2024 13:15

@Marie1990x @MaybeBaby2024 @mamataylor @Firsttimetrier
thanks all for the replies - seems all in same boat and our ages do vary a bit ! I think I also read it’s about a 25% chance each month to conceive so maybe we just got in that lucky 1 in 4 first time round ! X

Daniki · 15/04/2024 13:40

Yes, I am 35 now! Conceived my son when I was 31, got pregnant twice in 2022 when I was 33 and nothing since!

Im 35 and conceived on cycle 1 (unfortunately ended in a CP) but I think its just luck of the draw

Herewegoagain0 · 15/04/2024 17:27

@PondwoodS have just turned 36. Conceived Ds1 at 31, ds2 at 33, both in the first couple of months. Started TTC number 3 in January and have already had 2 chemicals in 3 cycles (and 1dpo today on cycle 4). So I don’t seem to have an issue getting pregnant it’s just staying pregnant, which I’m worried is something to do with my age now :(

SWeal · 15/04/2024 18:55

@PondwoodS I’m currently 32, conceived my first when I was 30 (happy accident) he passed away at 3 days old and I conceived baby #2 just before I turned 31 - first try…I’m now on cycle 7 for baby #3 and's also worrying about my age being a factor! xx

mamataylor · 15/04/2024 21:45

@SWeal I’m sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine how hard that was for you 💔 sending you lots of luck and baby dust for baby #3 xx

Marie1990x · 15/04/2024 22:15

@SWeal so sorry to hear about your ds1, I can’t even begin to imagine 💔. Everything crossed this is your month.

Second time of DTD this cycle with the SMEP and already finding it stressful 😂. Shattered from a full on day of tantrums from DD, so come to bed earlier than DH and asked him to wake me up for a quickie. Who says romance is dead 😆

Threedogsandababy · 16/04/2024 06:46

I’m 37 too so I was expecting it to be harder a bit but everyone I know seems to be announcing pregnancies and they are a similar age (although I guess I don’t know what their journey has been like)
@Daniki i hope your at has settled now and your not in so much pain! X

I was 37 when I conceived my baby first cycle. Just started trying again this month at 39! Because it was so easy first time, I'm not really mentally prepared for it to be harder or not happen at all. It's helpful to read some of the comments on here and not assume everything will go to plan
