TTC 2024 - New Year Babies

Hey!

Thought id start a new thread as anyone at the beginning of their cycle TTC now I guess will be looking at January due dates! Think AF will be here today or tomorrow for me so my due date would be 7th January…

@Threedogsandababy I find OPK’s very useful and easy to read. With my daughter I fell pregnant the first month using them after trying for a while without. Was stupidly expecting similar this time but it’s just not happening. But personally feel they’re definitely worth using

Thanks @Marie1990x perhaps I will give them a go this time - still waiting for AF 1 week late with a very tiny bit of spotting through this week so who knows when I will ovulate next!

The OPKs are definitely a good idea, I ended up ovulating 5 days after my predicted last month I was panicking for ages then it jumped up, I’d have missed it completely if I hadn’t done the strips, not that it worked though cause I’m still here 😂😂😂
I laugh but feeling it tonight, month 5 trying and I know that’s not long compared to some peoples but it’s disheartening still haha low-key wish I hadn’t left it till I was 31 to try for our first 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hi currently TTC DC2, we also conceived DC1 the first cycle but this time around doesn’t seem to be happening as easily.
Why is it so difficult for so many of us TTC no2?!

Joining this thread as well as the Dec group as if I catch this month I would be due 3rd Jan but DC1 was born a week early!

Got my peak on OPK yesterday so today would be ovulation day?

@RW269 thanks that’s really interesting- I was a bit reluctant because of how obsessive the whole thing is already but maybe it will be better to feel more in control- sorry you are feeling down it’s such a heart sinking feeling every month ❤️

Hello guys, my AF finally showed after being over 9 days late, finally out of limbo land, hoping that this month will be a good one for all of us old and new 🙂

Iv been so sick since yest and my period is so heavy it's horrible! I actually leaked all through my underwear and trousers yest. Jesus I hope the next cycle works, I am sick of AF 🙃

Ovulation day likely today for me too as got my peak yesterday! Fed up of the TWW already and it hasn’t even started yet 🤣

Still clinging on over here with no af yet! Ignore the pink circle on todays date, Fitbit says my period should have started by now. This puts me at cycle day 42. Longest since having dd is 43. Ngl I have major af type cramps but keeping everything crossed she doesn’t arrive. Not testing for at least a few more days as had a chemical before and it’s not nice.

I have a (maybe silly) question about OPKs. I tried my first one yesterday and its one of the ones where you pee on the stick and then stick the stick into a bigger stick and it gives you a smiley face if you are ready to go.

The bigger stick didn't work. I got the 'read the manual' picture. But the actual pee stick had two lines on it. Does that mean I'm ovulating?!

@Jessb2021a this is probably just me being silly old me, but when I used them I got the same once and it was because I’d inserted it the wrong way round 😂. Not pee side in, but the insertable side was flipped the wrong way.
Also I believe the 2 lines on it work the same way a normal strip opk would where it needs to be the same or darker than control line.

Has anyone tried the SMEP? We’re giving it a go this month and started last night. Hoping I don’t lose momentum as it seems you DTD a lot more than usual (for us anyway 😂)

@RRAEE sorry at arrived but glad you are out of Limbo - I did a test today 8 days late (I had already had a bfn last Sunday) and still BFN today so definitely out now and I guess it’s a waiting game so I can start a new cycle - I’m not sure I could get my oh to agree to smep!

Hi ladies, joining in from the December thred. I’m 35 and ttc number one. Conceived first cycle in Feb and ovulated cd 16 but had a CP in March. Tried again in March before getting AF but no joy - had 8 days of the flashing smiley on cb opk before peak so I felt something was off. Got AF back within 4 weeks. Started using the opk on day 7 and got the circle / low fertility result you get on day 1 of testing with a new cb tester. Cd 8 today and im straight to flashing smiley again which i wasn’t expecting based on how my February cycle went (4 days of low fertility before 4 days of flashing and then peak). I’m usually a 27 day cycle so perhaps I had ovulated late on cd 16 in Feb? Wish I had a few tracked cycles to compare to as driving me mad! I bought some cheapie opk tests to run along side cb this cycle as a back up check. Will keep an eye out for ewcm. Question ladies - does your day of ovulation change much cycle to cycle??

@Marie1990x sorry if I'm being stupid but what does SMEP stand for?

@SummerSun24 “sperm meets egg plan”. I keep hearing about it but not actually tried it. Basically from what I can gather, you start DTD every other day starting from CD8. Then once you get a positive OPK do it 3 days consecutively, skip a day then once more.
It’s supposed to ensure you catch your ovulation I think and cover all your bases. Going to give it a shot just don’t know if I can do all that 😂

@B1989 sorry to hear about your CP. Hope this is your month!
Mine used to be all over the place, then since having my daughter (she’s 2.5) they’re been like clockwork 32 day cycles, but last month went to shambles again so think I’m back to the irregular cycles (unless hopefully last month was just a blip).

@Marie1990x fantastic 😂 but yes quite alot of DTD especially if you've a long cycle, be like a marathon haha. Fingers crossed for success though looking forward to hearing how it has worked out for you!

@SummerSun24 haha absolutely. I didn’t ovulate until CD26 last month, so if it’s the same this month I know I won’t make it 😂

@Marie1990x we tried SMEP for 2 months but it got a bit much so we’re having one month of just DTD every other day for the month. I found the planning and ovulation sticks a bit of a mood killer/stressful but I’m sure we’ll try it again every so often if no success. I tried to be more chill this week and impromptu came onto my partner to keep it fun and he said he wanted one days notice for the start of shag week/month 😂 I was shocked! X

@LK2610 hahaha that’s hilarious 😂 at least he knows what to expect.
Whenever I try it on my husband is like “oh is it the time now”, at least they’re aware 😂.
Yeah I think if it doesn’t work out this month I probably won’t do it again, I’m already tired thinking about it

Hi all, is it okay to join? First month of TTC number 2!

We conceived the first cycle with our first by doing SMEP, so definitely recommend! We are going to loosely doing it this time too and see how we go for the first few cycles!
