Struggling to find an active Letrozole thread. Recently been prescribed Letrozole as I have low progesterone and signs of ovulation not being as effective as it could be, albeit I still ovulate on my own.

Would love to hear success stories or chat to people who are going through TTC with letrozole now x

Congratulations to those getting their BFPs on this thread! It's so nice to read the positive stories.

I am starting my first round tomorrow. Wondered if anyone on this thread had low AMH before starting this?

Also, any lifestyle/diet advice whilst taking Letrozole, I'm sticking with the usual fun of no caffeine or alcohol but any other suggestions welcome!

Good luck to all xx

UserL95 · 25/04/2024 15:13

@smashedbanana i found out I have low amh on my third cycle of letrozole… however I was getting 1 dominant follicle each cycle! Hope that brings you some encouragement too. Still waiting for my BFP though!

Optimistic66 · 25/04/2024 15:31

I have Low AMH mine is 7.8 - how are yours? @smashedbanana and @UserL95

Also waiting to get a BFP - just started my second round!

Optimistic66 · 25/04/2024 15:32

& similar @smashedbanana @UserL95 i also get one dominant follicle on 2.5mg

smashedbanana · 25/04/2024 16:25

@UserL95 @Optimistic66 mines crazy low, under 1. But did get pregnant last summer (ended in MC). Thanks for sharing - I'm starting on 5mg. Have a scan next Friday so will report back. Did you guys have the trigger shot? I'm been prescribed cyclogest for the TWW too... xx

UserL95 · 25/04/2024 19:00

@smashedbanana @Optimistic66 mines 9.something which is low for my age I’ve been told?
I did 2x letrozole 5mg rounds and 1x letrozole 7.5mg round. Now I’m in TWW on first clomid 100mg round. On the last letrozole round and this clomid round I’ve been taking cyclogest pessaries and progynova too for lining support. I’ve had a trigger shot each time. Just really ready for it to be a month where I get a BFP… but I know my anxiety will still be sky high.
really struggling in this tww! I’m only cd20 yet

smashedbanana · 25/04/2024 19:26

@UserL95 sorry if you've said previously in this thread but why have they moved you from Letrozole to clomid?
Fingers crossed this is your cycle 🙏🏻
X

UserL95 · 25/04/2024 19:41

@smashedbanana i think due to a low AFC and low AMH, they decided the risk factor of multiples wasn’t too high hence moving to clomid. Although I responded to letrozole, they wanted to see how my body responds to clomid too - or the next option was to increase letrozole dose again but I wasn’t enjoying the side effects (low mood, bad headaches). This month on clomid my skin had broken out like crazy!! My consultant also knows I’m keen to go down the ivf route sooner rather than later but I need to try and lose some weight to give my body the best chances. Gosh so many dilemmas!

smashedbanana · 25/04/2024 20:12

Interesting! My consultant said clomid isn’t so good for the lining? How did your CD10 scan compare on Letrozole Vs Clomid? I had a very low AFC on my last scan so no risk of multiples from me!! Hopefully you won't need it but if do, when can you move onto ivf? xx

UserL95 · 25/04/2024 20:23

@smashedbanana so my lining was thin on my 3rd letrozole cycle too! Which i assume goes into some of the reasons to try clomid too? On letrozole I was having follicles around 18mm by cd13/14 but my scan was cd11 this month and I had 2 follicles which were small at 10mm 11mm. I only ever had 1 developing follicle on letrozole. There’s a chance that both matured, 1 matured or none matured haha!! The not knowing is so hard but it’s the only day I could get in for a scan this month. But I did the trigger shot on cd15 which should have given time for both (hopefully) follicles to mature before the trigger shot. Started cyclogest and progynova on the same day as trigger shot too.

In terms of ivf, my consultant keeps telling us we are young and have time on our side (me and hubby both 29). But after ttc for almost 3 years I feel so hopeless and just want to do anything possible!! Ultimately it’s our choice because we are paying private for our fertility support (nhs not helping us due to bmi) but we are taking the consultants advice for now!

where are you at in your journey?

Letrozolelastchance · 25/04/2024 20:50

Does the follicle count on day 2 determine the dose of letrozole ?

UserL95 · 25/04/2024 21:21

@Letrozolelastchance i believe they usually start at a dose of 2.5mg or 5mg and then up it as needed. It would only go up if you were not getting a mature follicle or successful ovulation at scans I believe.

Optimistic66 · 26/04/2024 11:41

@UserL95 - interested in your lining - how was it on the varying cycles? Mine was thin on the first cycle and now going into second. Did you do anything that improved it? How was your lining on clomid?

@Letrozolelastchance - mine started on 2.5mg then kept me on it this round as I responded and ovulated.

UserL95 · 26/04/2024 11:48

Hey @Optimistic66 . First two letrozole cycles my lining was fine around 8.9mm
i believe. 3rd letrozole and 1st clomid cycle it was under 7mm although I don’t know the exact measurements! I was prescribed cyclogest and progynova to help. I also have been talking vit e c d tablets for the last 4 weeks

Optimistic66 · 26/04/2024 17:05

Hey @UserL95 - ahhh interesting - mine was 6.5mm this first cycle so hoping for some improvement this second cycle - i havent been prescribed anything. Made diet changes like eating lots of beetroot etc. hoping this will help

UserL95 · 26/04/2024 17:25

@Optimistic66 please keep us updated! I’ve heard pomegranate is really good as well and beetroot and generally cruciferous veggies x

Letrozolelastchance · 27/04/2024 08:22

Has anyone had pain when on letrozole? I only started it yesterday and have woken up with ovary pain on one side ?? Surely it’s too soon for anything like that?

smashedbanana · 27/04/2024 14:45

@Letrozolelastchance I started my Letrozole yesterday and have twinges around ovaries today too. I have no idea why this would happen but I having tried to convince for over 3 years I've not had it before... are you having a scan on Friday? Annoyingly my CD 10 falls over the bank holiday weekend x

smashedbanana · 02/05/2024 07:53

@Letrozolelastchance how are you finding it? Do you still have pain? I'm CD 8 today and lots of pressure. Scan tomorrow. X

Optimistic66 · 04/05/2024 15:39

@UserL95 So second cycle made lots of diet additions like beetroot, heat patches, lots of crucifous veggies! it was worse than cycle one! 😭😭😭

How was yours? i'm going to have another scan tuesday which will be CD 16

Letrozolelastchance · 04/05/2024 16:57

I had my scan yesterday and had 2 follicles both 20 mm so they gave me a trigger injection to take last night. Having a lot of ovary pain already so hoping it’s working

Optimistic66 · 04/05/2024 18:50

Eeek! 2 follicles fingers crossed!!!!

I don't know which part is worse - hoping that it's worked or the 2ww - which seems to be the slowest time known to man.

i think I was lucky as anymore than 2 and the cycle would have been cancelled !

Letrozolelastchance · 04/05/2024 19:08

I’m going to test out the hcg trigger injection as I’m so scared that if I don’t I’ll test and get my hopes from residual hcg trigger and I don’t think after all this time I could cope with that , so I got some cheap strip tests and I’m going to start checking the lines get fainter and disappear before doing a ‘real’ test in 2 weeks

That happened to me! I saw a faint at 9dpo and it was the trigger - was so disappointing so i think testing out the trigger is the best thing! i think with two it feels like atleast one should work! right?! What was your lining like? What cycle are you on? I'm on 2.5mg so i doubt i'd get 2 follicles.
