TTC Active Letrozole Thread

Struggling to find an active Letrozole thread. Recently been prescribed Letrozole as I have low progesterone and signs of ovulation not being as effective as it could be, albeit I still ovulate on my own.

Would love to hear success stories or chat to people who are going through TTC with letrozole now x

Hey..I’m just in my third cycle and symptoms haven’t been too bad a bit tired this cycle and the first cycle I was a wee but emotional during the tablets but can’t complain too much. What dose are you on? Are you unexplained?

Ah that sounds manageable, thank you ☺️
I’m going to be on 2.5mg, and because I’m ovulating regularly but at a scan before ovulation my lead follicle was a bit small, so consultant thinks my ovulation needs a boost. No other issues identified except morphology on lower end, so hoping this will help 🤞🏻

Hey. I have been taking since June 2025 , and got pregnant on my second cycle on letrozole, I think on the lowest dose. I'm 5w5 days, will let you know how it goes. I had no side effects to speak of. I tracked my ovulation and it seemed to make me ovulate a little bit early.

I also was getting regular follicular scans, and my follicle looked smaller than it had done the previous month and also I had missed my LH peak so I had thought it hadn't worked. Had a pretty positive experience using it!

Congratulations! I’m not having any scans (which seems unusual reading others experiences?), but possibly because I’m definitely ovulating already, not sure! Wonder if ovulation will come at the normal time, will be tracking with LH

Thank you! I think I was ovulating already but it was to give me a boost. I’ve heard they should at least scan you once to make sure your ovaries don’t get hyper stimulated. (Ohss) However, I think it depends from trust to trust. Good luck !

Yes I did wonder about OHSS!

Hi everyone! Hope it’s ok I join. I’m on my first monitored cycle (letrozole + 0.5mL ovitrelle trigger). 11 days post trigger/9dpo, and my line is suuuuper faint… and fading from days before, so pretty sure I’m out. WE’ve been TTC’s for our second for 3 years now (2 MMCs + 2 failed IVF cycles/no blasts)… so this is our last big effort.

just wanted to say hi in solidarity and sending babydust to all!!

Hi @CanuckinLondon im secondary infertility too! It’s so frustrating..have you found any reasons or unexplained? Good luck 🤞 so sorry your ivfs both ended in no blasts that must have been awful. Did you have low Amh?

I’m so sorry you’re also going through this. My AMH is 9.6, which my Dr said is well above average for my age (42), and all my other bloods came back normal. All came back normal on my husband’s side as well. So really it just comes down to my egg quality :(. I have to think there’s still one good egg hiding in there.

How about yourself?

ps… I couldn’t help myself even though I knew it wouldn’t be positive, but I took an evening test and it was stark white … on to the next cycle!

Sarahdaydreamer1234 · 20/08/2025 21:31

@CanuckinLondon mine is 7.2 and I’m 34 so it’s low for my age which apparently shouldn’t have any effect on natural conception so there much be something else going on. I think my eostrogen tends to be too high but apart from that all other results are normal. I’m just in cycle 3 now and starting IVF in November of next two cycles don’t work! I also had a few miscarriage in the past and had to take blood thinners for my one successful pregnancy.

I’m sure you have a few good eggs still!! Are you taking many supplements? I’ve become a bit obsessed with them at this stage but it’s so expensive!

CanuckinLondon · 22/08/2025 11:24

@Sarahdaydreamer1234- I’m wishing all the baby dust!! It’s so frustrating and feels like there should be more we can do, doesn’t it… I’m also on estrogen and progesterone (the latter after I ovulate) to ensure my lining is thick enough. For supplements, I take Vitafem and Vitafem boost, Ubiquinol, Omega 3 and vitamin D. How about you?

Sarahdaydreamer1234 · 22/08/2025 21:55

@CanuckinLondon yes so frustrating, I find it so hard hearing or seeing pregnant friends with children already. I take so many it’s probably counterproductive at this stage. I take a methylated multi vitiman from BioCare, extra folate as my folate was sub optimal, vit D, omega 3, ALA, unibiquol and now I’ve started a probiotic called bio femme and serrapeptase which apparently can clear adhesions. I’m not sure I have adhesions from my c section but figure I can’t hurt. I also take the odd iron sachet and NAD. Have you tried DHEA? Ive heard it’s good if you don’t have high eostrogen or testosterone which I do so can’t take it.

TruthUnwinding · 24/08/2025 09:33

I was/am taking cytoplan and biocare vitamins like coq10 high strength, methylfolate, omega 3 plus magnesium, iron, vitamin c and vitamin d. I also was encouraged to take cyclogest (progesterone pessaries) after ovulating until either a period or positive test. I have a 7 week scan on Friday so hoping that all is good. I do remember seeing from previous posts I found on letrozole that quite a few people conceived on it so fingers crossed for you both too.

Vordooflore · 24/08/2025 23:02

Hi beautiful ladies,
I just wanted to join this post as I’m currently in the same boat as many of you. I’ve been on Letrozole 7mg for the last 6 cycles due to PCOS and anovulatory cycles. I had a successful pregnancy and gave birth to my baby boy in 2022 when I conceived on my third cycle at 5mg. This time feels different, though, and my dose was increased to 7mg since 5mg didn’t work for me anymore.
Now I’m on CD32, and my cycles on Letrozole usually range from 30 to 32 days. Each cycle has resulted in a period, but this time, things seem off. I started spotting lightly on CD30, which I thought was normal, but then it didn’t progress. The bleeding has been very light with no cramps. Yesterday, I barely felt the pad, and today there’s even less. It’s not typical for me—I normally bleed heavily for 5 days with cramps and lots of flow in the first two days.
What I’ve been experiencing is more of a light, watery, red/pink/brown discharge when wiping. I haven’t filled a pad all day, and while it’s more than spotting, it’s nothing like my regular period. I took a test today (CD32) and got a BFN, so I’m really confused.
I’ve also been feeling under the weather for the past few days—cold-like symptoms, blocked and runny nose, very tired, and watery eyes. I’m wondering if the illness has messed up my cycle.
Has anyone else had a similar experience of not getting a proper period on Letrozole? Any advice or insight would be appreciated.

I have just started a new cycle (I think I'm Day 7 again now, and have just finished my second round of letrozole). My clinic don't offer a trigger which is annoying! I hope yours has been successful this month!

The month letrozole worked for was the one where I missed the date the trigger was meant to be taken due to bank holidays and scans etc. & when i had my next scan could see egg had released. It was the month i conceived my now son! Good luck but i found it reassuring to hear positive experiences and I also used to be a part of this thread in the TTC and just logged back i to my mumsent

That is very comforting! I am pregnant from my second round, but only 6 weeks. Would be great if I followed suit! It’s very hopeful to hear your positive experience ☺️

So sorry I didn’t respond earlier. We had a few weeks of travel and I decided to take a full month break from all of this, which was really nice not to think about supplements or tracking or anything. Is DHEA the same as omega 3….? Otherwise I’m not taking it. I am being put on estrogen and progesterone during my cycles though, so hoping that’s enough. I’m really feeling quite hopeless again, but trying to stay positive. How have you been doing?

Muddysocks1 · 23/09/2025 18:28

I’m 9dpo on first round of letrozole. Using proov pdg strips and think my progesterone is still not good enough so not feeling very hopeful

CanuckinLondon · 23/09/2025 19:14

@Muddysocks1- I find testing progesterone with urine more stressful than helpful because it can be so variable. I went through the same thing and found it really disheartening. It may be worth doing an at home blood test (superdrug has a great one, as does medichecks), which can give you pretty good accuracy. I took my test to my (private) consultant and he put me on cyclogest. Hope this helps

CanuckinLondon · 23/09/2025 19:15

Congratulations @TruthUnwindingand @Optimistic66!!

Yes that’s a good shout, next month I’ve got a blood test booked with gp (although might have to change it as dates might change!) but following that I think I’ll do my own.

I’ve got a review with doctor thankfully, as pdg was only ok on 1/4 days and I’m pretty sure I had another chemical, so want to review before next dose. Im hoping they’ll recommend a change, maybe higher dose or add progesterone? Can’t help but think something else is affecting implantation though
