TTC Active Letrozole Thread

Struggling to find an active Letrozole thread. Recently been prescribed Letrozole as I have low progesterone and signs of ovulation not being as effective as it could be, albeit I still ovulate on my own.

Would love to hear success stories or chat to people who are going through TTC with letrozole now x

@Daydreaming91 I think it is! Exciting 😬 let us know how you get on Friday!

Hi guys! On cycle 34 of TTC and cycle3 of letrozole. I’ve had 3/5 days of tablets and I’m taking 5mg. I’m also doing follicle scan and trigger shot along side it. I was having cycles of not ovulating but regular periods prior to letrozole.

Happy to jump in the chat or just follow in the background.

on my second month I noticed more side effects… low mood, fatigue, headaches. Oh gosh the things we put ourselves through !

Angelselevenx · 13/03/2024 07:04

@UserL95 welcome! what day do you tend to ovulate on letrozole? Wondering when mine will be as it's normally CD20!

Good to know about the side effects, I've had headaches since I stopped the tablets on CD6 but I did have hot flushes whilst on them!

Best of luck. What CD are you now? There's a few of us on similar CDs.

@Optimistic66 any sign of AF?

I've started a WhatsApp group if any of you would like to join, I find it easier than MN!

@Daydreaming91 exactly - a level playing field. It so disheartening month after month not even really having a chance when you dont ovulate. BBT sends me over the edge.

@Angelselevenx - not yet but cycle day 28. Longest cycle i've had in the past year is 44 days so hoping it not as long as that so fingers crossed starts in the next month.

Anyone else go in a rabbit hole of finding letrozole success stories? It makes me nervous that most people seem to start on 5mg and i'm starting on 2.5mg. Looking forward to see some positives in this group.

Angelselevenx · 13/03/2024 12:30

@Optimistic66 I do, I can't stop googling or looking at others stories. Are you going to take it CD2-6?

OP posts:
Daydreaming91 · 13/03/2024 12:38

@Angelselevenx I will do! I'll join the what's app group as I find it easier to keep up with!

@UserL95 I finished my round on Monday and have horrendous headaches since, I currently want to lie under my desk and go to sleep hahaha.

@Optimistic66 it really is, just nice to actually feel like you have a chance!

Angelselevenx · 13/03/2024 12:41

@Daydreaming91 yay come join, me too though! I also had headaches as soon as I finished the course on CD6 and still have them now on CD10. LH is slightly increasing so need to keep an eye on it!

My BBT was all over the place whereas usually it's fairly stable in the first half of my cycle!

UserL95 · 15/03/2024 11:00

Hi all! I’m cd7 today, still spotting which is annoying as I usually stop bleeding/spotting by cd5

@Daydreaming91 @Angelselevenx sorry to hear you both suffered with headaches too! This month I’ve not been too bad, but feel like I’m coming down with a cold :(

ive been doing private cycles but prior to letrozole I didn’t always ovulate. So now I take a trigger shot on day 14/15 to help make sure I definitely ovulate!! This will be my third month of letrozole and trigger cycle. I know that’s not too much, but I’m getting very impatient as this is cycle 34 of TTC! I plan to talk to the consultant about next steps. I don’t think I want to consider iui because it’s just another expense… I’m wondering if it’s time that I start learning more about ivf !

Daydreaming91 · 15/03/2024 21:36

@UserL95 Hi, I understand it can be frustrating. It's worth speaking to your consultant and seeing what they recommend if you feel that way.

I've been told to try letrozole for 5/6 months. If we aren't successful with that that I think we will go to IUI but we are on NHS. Fingers crossed for you!

Loz365 · 18/03/2024 16:27

How's everyone doing?

Just a little update from me, pregnancy still going okay. Went for an early scan today at 6+6 based on my LMP, measuring 6+3 so they think I ovulated a few days later (I wasn't monitored this cycle) but baby is in the right place with a good, strong heartbeat.

Keeping everything crossed for you all that there's some more letrozole babies on the way very soon! X

Angelselevenx · 18/03/2024 16:52

@Loz365 that's amazing news, how lovely 😊.

All okay here, CD15 and just waiting for ovulation, was hoping it would be early but don't think it's going to be so I expect I won't be ovulating until CD19-23 x

Fingers crossed for everyone on their Letrozole journey. So happy to see the BFPs on here already. TTC is hard, I’m trying to be easy on myself and treat myself once a week 💖

We have been TTC for about 3 years, with 2 MMC along the way. I am on month 4 of 2.5 mg. Month 3 had to be sacked off because of my HyCosy which came back all clear.

My Dr said I am ovulating perfectly on the medication so I feel like I have a chance now!

The hot sweats are something else though, I feel like I am always so hot when I come home from a walk, I have to strip off 🤣 Lucky only the cat and dog see me 🤣

Dija89 · 18/03/2024 20:20

@Loz365 hey so glad your appointment went well. According to the nhs app I am 6 weeks and 2 days my first scan is on 2nd April so I will be 8 weeks.

my nausea is really bad. I’m not throwing up but the feeling is always there. My boobs are still painful but I know it’s all worth it.

just nervous about my scan I hope baby is in the right place and has a good heartbeat xxxx

UserL95 · 20/03/2024 23:34

Hey everyone. I had my cd 12 follicle tracking scan today. I had a juicy 19mm ready to go so was given trigger shot. I was also given cyclogest pessaries and progynovea for the TWW to help get my progesterone up. Anyone have any experiences with these?

Angelselevenx · 23/03/2024 21:25

Hi everyone. I'm 1DPO today, I normally ovulate on CD21-23 but ovulated CD19 this month on the first round of 2.5mg letrozole. Luteal phase is normally 11 days so will see if let helps to increase that as well 🙏🏽

Hi everyone! Hoping I can join you all
i have been ttc for almost 5 years with 1 miscarriage just over a year ago.
i am currently on my third day of taking 5mg of letrozole and it is our first round.
i have PCOS and my partner has low morphology, however it seems to be massively up and down from one semen analysis to the next
The consultant has said that it seems as though I am already ovulating so letrozole may not work for us but I’m am trying to keep a little bit of hope alive, its a hard enough journey without even the slightest bit of optimism
we have monitoring scans next week and I’m just excited to feel like we are finally getting some help after what feels like forever

Purplemichelle · 14/04/2024 19:25

Hi everyone can I join?

I have had 3 rounds of IVF, all have failed with the first transfer not resulting in a pregnancy, the second being a MMC at 7 weeks and the third we didn’t get to transfer as the embryo arrested on day 3. My consultant has not recommended any more IVF treatment due to age and AMH.

My consultant said I could try ovulation induction as a last ditch attempt as I do not regularly ovulate and have mild PCOS. There are no male factors.

Has anyone had treatment this way round? Obviously IVF is the gold standard but I’m not ready to give up whilst I still have eggs.

hopeanddreams · 24/04/2024 11:32

Hi everyone, hoping I can join.

Been on a long journey so far: ttc for 3 years then put on nhs waiting list right before covid. Finally got my first appointment 18 months later! Took 6 months to get all the necessary tests done as cycles so irregular (confirmed pcos) consultant didn't advise could induce to have hsg! Finally 5 years after starting trying I had an appointment to discuss test results and possible treatments. Turned up to be told they had 'lost' all my results!!! Had to go through it all again.
Finally put on Letrozole - the journey hasn't been plain sailing....
Cycle 1 - Induced bleed with Northisterone then 2.5mg Letrozole days 2-5 -monitored - no response
Cycle 2 - Induced bleed with Northisterone then 5mg Letrozole - monitored - no response
Cycle 3 - Induced bleed then 7.5mg Letrozole - monitored. Scan showed mature follicle yay! Blood test confirmed ovulation - double yay!
Bleed started day 34 so BFN - still feeling happy that eventually on the right dose, went into cycle 4 very optimistic.
Cycle 4 - natural bleed yay - 7.5mg Letrozole - not monitored. Period didn't come... pregnancy tests negative. Advised to wait a week and take another - negative. Advised to wait another week...negative.
Cycle 5 - had to induce bleed again which started today. Been told to up dose of Letrozole to 10mg this time which I will start tomorrow. Fingers crossed this does the trick - I won't be monitored this cycle either.

Wondering if anyone else has been through similar and whether 10mg has worked for them? As I ovulated once on 7.5mg am I now higher risk for multiples on 10mg?

Sorry for the long post, it's been a long slow journey so far!

Optimistic66 · 24/04/2024 15:37

How is everyone going?

Im starting cycle 2 - For cycle #1 I ovulated on 2.5mg cycle one but no BFP and I had thin lining.

For this cycle on the same protocol but taking meds CD3-7 rather than 2-6 as per cycle one. Did anyone else have thin lining? and what did you do about it?

Optimistic for this cycle, but also not mentally ready for more unsuccessful rounds.

Crazyhope · 24/04/2024 19:29

@Optimistic66 i understand what you mean about being mentally ready, i forgot to add in my post above this was my 1st round with the NHS, priory to this I had 2 2 rounds privately but there was no monitoring for those. The 2 private rounds were on 2.5mg and the NHS put me straight onto 5mg, it seemed to really help thicken my lining which was one of my concerns but I can’t say if the 2.5mg improved it thought because I wasn’t monitored.

I have actually found out I am pregnant a few days ago, so in total 3 cycles of letrozole
now I’m just praying everything goes well. I didn’t really think before about how worrying pregnancy would be after a miscarriage

I hope your second cycle goes well! Xx

Angelselevenx · 25/04/2024 09:25

Morning @Optimistic66

I'm on round 2 now.

I was on 2.5mg for round one, ovulated CD19 and then I've been bumped up to 5mg for round 2, currently 4DPO but ovulated CD18 which is the earliest I've ever ovulated and had the darkest peak I think I've ever had.

Fingers crossed for round two!

OP posts:
Optimistic66 · 25/04/2024 10:28

Ahh @Crazyhope - I will ask about being moved to 5mg after this cycle if my lining doesnt improve. What was your lining on your cycles if you remember?

Ahh congratulations!! Im so glad it has worked for you - so lovely to read positive stories. I can only imagine how slow time will go but it is so nice that you can now look forward to meeting a baby - have you just got in for 2024?

Its only normal when you have a journey to then worry about M/C etc. I think its hard when you want something so much to not worry.

@Angelselevenx - how do you feel? How long is your LP? I hate the tww and constantly symptom spotting. Fingers crossed this is your cycle.

Angelselevenx · 25/04/2024 10:31

@Optimistic66 my LP was 11 days before letrozole, last cycle (2.5mg) increased it to 12 days and I'm hoping it's been increased again this cycle (or AF just doesn't show)

Feeling okay thank you! How you feeling? X

OP posts:
Letrozolelastchance · 25/04/2024 10:33

Hi I’m starting Letrozole tomorrow after 2.5 years of secondary infertility please can I join? I’m nervous about side effects but hopeful this will be what works (I have pcos)

Crazyhope · 25/04/2024 10:36

@Optimistic66 this last cycle on cd12 it was 9.5mm, I think they said anything over 7 was considered good at that stage

thank you so much! I really feel like I’m wishing the days away but just trying to enjoy the moment and stop stressing!
we were both in shock as our cycle was cancelled due to too many follicles but we are so lucky.
I think if I have worked it out correctly we have just missed 2024 with a due date of New Year’s Day 🙈

i’m keeping my fingers crossed for everyone! It’s such a hard journey to be on at times xx
