Struggling to find an active Letrozole thread. Recently been prescribed Letrozole as I have low progesterone and signs of ovulation not being as effective as it could be, albeit I still ovulate on my own.

Would love to hear success stories or chat to people who are going through TTC with letrozole now x

Ngl Its often on my mind whether I am in the same situation going to go through a few cycles of letrozole too and then ivf will be on the cards for me too

Hi everyone,

I'm recently joining the TTC Letrozole 2.5mg Bandwagon being treated through the NHS. Is this thread still active? How is everyone getting on what are your updates would love to know.

My partner is just about to start her 7th cycle of Letrozole she has been on 2.5mg, but for the next 2 cycles we’re going to double it up just to see if that helps the follicles to be bigger/more of them. We mentioned it during our last consultation, that was our plan and the doctor was very helpful and actual said go for it, which we didn’t expect!

If these 2 cycles don’t work then it’s looking likely that we’ll end up down the IUI or IVF route. As we’ve both been tested and everything has come back fine so it’s frustratingly just unexplained infertility.

we’ve both been losing weight and getting fitter whilst upping our vitamins so we’re hoping that will help one of these cycles to take.

For some people -, relaxing and semi forgetting it all helps -, easier said that done - i know

Yeah it’s felt a little less pressured the last couple of months too because she finally mentioned it to her dad and I told my parents too and let them know the situation. So I felt that lifted us abit, especially me because my girlfriend has close friends who know and she can talk to, whereas I kind of just kept it all bottled up because lads don’t really speak about that sort of stuff. But yeah telling our close family felt like a slight relief! And it’s always good to get a cry out! Ha

hey, I wanted to update on here as I created the thread when I first started letrozole in February 2024. I did 7 rounds of letrozole in total, I think it was 1 x 2.5mg, 4 x 5mg and 2 x 7.5mg. On round 7 my consultant prescribed me progesterone suppositories from 2dpo which worked for us and im
now almost 34w pregnant.

I was on letrozole as I have naturally low progesterone and although I ovulated on my own anyway, my progesterone would always be borderline and then drop around 9DPO and would cause spotting and a period a couple of days later. I had a hycosy a few months before, which was all clear.

wishing you all the absolute best of luck x

Love that for you! Hope you are having the best pregnancy
I love hearing letrozole success stories truly does give me hope. I am coming towards the end of my first letrozole cycle. I have been told the rest future cycles will not be monitored does make me slightly worried as we won’t know what’s going on with follicles and progesterone levels but that’s just the way our hospital operates

Thank you! They always gave me hope too so I didn’t want to not update. My cycles were all unmonitored but I tracked my BBT and booked in for progesterone bloods via my GP. Is that an option?

My girlfriend started a thread herself the other day but doesn’t seem to have got much attention, but she was wondering if anyone had experienced early ovulation when on Letrozole? She’s not long finished her dose of 5mg Letrozole after being on 2.5mg.

She started doing clear blue digital ovulation tests on CD 7 and got negative. On CD 8+9 got a flashing smiley face (Lh surge). On CD 10 I got a solid smiley face for peak ovulation. Today CD 13 I am getting negatives.
In past cycles she usually ovulated around CD 21!

so we’re wondering was these false positive or have the letrozole caused really early ovulation.
thanks

pumpkinpatches22 · 15/05/2025 08:14

@UTFT yes! I needed a trigger shot to actually make me ovulate but on both cycles the docs could see I had a dominant follicle ready to go by day 11. And I was someone who had cycles spanning 60-80 days before. But my body always responds well to hormonal treatments and so once I started letrozole my follicles responded quickly and my body was ready to ovulate a few days after finishing the medication. The docs started monitoring on day 7 of my cycle for this reason so they could make sure they were tracking it all properly.

Can we regenerate this thread? How is everyone doing?
So great that OP has had success! Gives me hope as my story seems similar.

In the past 2 years I have had 1 TFMR at 14 weeks, one MMC at 10/11 weeks and a few chemicals. Never had a successful pregnancy. I've had the 'tube flush' which was fine. My OPK's are generally quite low (0.5/0.6 seems to be the peak) which seems consistent with what you are saying. For the past 2 months, I've tried cyclogest pessaries 3 DPO and had no success. I'm 37 and my AMH seems fine.

This is my first cycle with letrozole 2.5mg and I have a scan on Monday. I'm CD5 at the moment and am taking letrozole days 2 to 6. Then I'll track ovulation and take my pessaries again. On loads of supplements too. Really trying to remain hopeful despite my losses. If I get pregnant again I will be harassing the EPU for scans😂

I'm with an NHS clinic but also seeing The Fertilty Suite/Rachel Sheriff who are helping to push things forward a bit. Had a microbiome test and was originally prescribed cyclogest/progesterone through them.

Came on here to see what everyone's symptoms are like. I feel emotional, exhausted and nauseous AF. I feel similar on cyclogest so feel like I'm constantly on hormones, like a battery chicken or a dairy cow! With no result so far :(

Also the pregnancies and hormones have really changed my body so that is difficult to deal with too.

Hey I’m hoping I can join. I’m on my first round of letrozole with trigger. I’m on 2.5mg day 3-5 due to high eostrogen my doctor didn’t want me on the full 5 days. I was looking for some advice on the trigger shot. I was told to take it on a positive lh tests but some months I don’t get a full positive just a pretty dark test. Yesterday CD13 I seen the lines on LH tests progress to quite dark but not positive and I’m not sure whether to take the trigger now and risk them starting to get lighter and essentially miss my peak or hold off incase this isn’t my actual lh surge. I usually only ever have one surge I don’t have PCOS. What was the advice you received in regard to the trigger? Good luck everyone. I am taking vitex post ovulation in an attempt to increase progesterone.

Sarahdaydreamer1234 · 07/07/2025 10:24

@pumpkinpatches22 did your doctor tell you to wait for an LH peak to trigger or did they just go off the scans? Do you happen to know if you trigger correlated with an LH peak? I haven’t had scans but getting an LH surge.

pumpkinpatches22 · 10/07/2025 20:25

@Sarahdaydreamer1234 - my first cycle they monitored with scans to check follicle size and how I was responding to the medication and then told me to look out for LH surge and DTD once I got a surge. However my issue which they eventually discovered, was I wasn’t ovulating. My body was producing a follicle but not producing enough LH to actually ovulate it. My LH tests would get darker but wouldn’t peak and then would fade. The follicle wouldnt ovulate and would then become a cyst which then created hormonal imbalances which made my cycle even worse. My periods were all over the place and I couldn’t track using ovulation strips at all. So the second cycle they just monitored me with scans and when they felt I had a good follicle advised me to trigger that same night and then DTD at least 2-3 times over the next 48 hours. They were very good at responding to and changing the protocol to suit my body. Second cycle worked and I’m currently 26 weeks pregnant! X

I am following this as I am on letrozole and haven't been offered a trigger. Great to hear that the letrozole has been successful!

Sarahdaydreamer1234 · 17/07/2025 20:43

@pumpkinpatches22 thank you for the reply! That’s interesting about you not ovulating and great they were able to sort that out. I’m 10pm now and so tempted to test! When did you get a positive? My trigger was 11 days ago and it’s definitely out of my system as I took one 8dpo to be sure..I’ve had loads of cervical discharge this months similar to ovulation which I don’t usually get! I’m sure if it’s just the extra hormones from the drugs but I’m hoping it’s an early pregnancy sign. @TruthUnwinding where are you in your cycle? Good luck 😁

I have just started a new cycle (I think I'm Day 7 again now, and have just finished my second round of letrozole). My clinic don't offer a trigger which is annoying! I hope yours has been successful this month!

pumpkinpatches22 · 19/07/2025 17:47

@Sarahdaydreamer1234 I waited until 14 days after trigger to test! It was hard but I didn’t want to get a false negative or positive so I waited. Fingers crossed for you! Xx

Muddysocks1 · 19/08/2025 15:21

Hi all, how is everyone getting on with letrozole?
I’ve just been prescribed it (2.5mg for 6 cycles), keen for this cycle to finish so I can give it a go!

How have side effects been? Do they just occur on the days actually taking it? Wondering if I need to pencil rough dates in my work calendar in case I get them - saw Chessie King on Instagram saying she was totally wiped out some days!

Sarahdaydreamer1234 · 19/08/2025 18:45

Hey..I’m just in my third cycle and symptoms haven’t been too bad a bit tired this cycle and the first cycle I was a wee but emotional during the tablets but can’t complain too much. What dose are you on? Are you unexplained?
