TTC Active Letrozole Thread

Struggling to find an active Letrozole thread. Recently been prescribed Letrozole as I have low progesterone and signs of ovulation not being as effective as it could be, albeit I still ovulate on my own.

Would love to hear success stories or chat to people who are going through TTC with letrozole now x

BreakfastOats · 09/10/2024 14:57

Sorry you ovulated early!

I went for a scan on CD10 and I had 3 follicles between 14-16mm each. This was a pleasant surprise because I have low AMH and I only had 1 follicle on my first round of Letrozole. I triggered two days later but there as a family issue that meant we didn’t dtd at the right time so I don’t expect much this month. It’s a shame but that’s life for you! I am focusing on the positive news and looking forward to seeing what happens next time!

@worldwidetravel2017 You are making good progress with all these tests! Glad you felt heard when speaking with the GP. That’s so important! Wishing you the best x

Hello I posted a while back I ended up having 3 monitored letrozole cycles with a trigger each time and no success. I had surgery in August and now I’m wondering as I have some tablets left if I just take them when I next get my period (basically doing an unmonitored cycle no trigger ?) I know on 2.5 mg I seem to always get 2 follicles and they were triggering me on day 10 - if I do this and don’t have a trigger will my body just ovulate naturally a bit later ?

In some ways I’m wondering if it might be better without the trigger ? My clinic didn’t want to do it without said it was important but I would rather do ovulation tests ? I could even get a private one off scan to confirm ovulation if needed . I don’t know if less stress may help to as I had so many appts blood tests and the hcg trigger plus progesterone it was quite stressful. It’s only as I have enough tablets left to do a couple of months I was thinking should I just take them

You can confirm ovulation with private progsterone test at a clinic and a result over 30..

Many people get ovulation discharge and ovulation boobs that help identity ovulation

Discuss with your consultant

Hi everyone,

Partner and I have finally been approved to start treatment, and we've just received all the meds in the post. We got letrozole, the injection for triggering ovulation, and norethisterone to restart my period as I have irregular periods.

I let my fertility clinic know that we received it all, and if I should start taking the norethisterone so I can induce a period. She said no and to book a blood test, and just wait till the blood test to confirm where I'm at in my cycle.

I don't understand why the blood test is needed, when I did all the bloods and scans already, and I have irregular cycles anyway?

It's end of next week, and we've already waited since start of August to begin so I'm just a bit annoyed why we need to keep waiting. My last cycle was over 100 days.

Hello, I'm just finishing my fifth cycle if letrozole and think my period is starting. Has anyone experienced periods becoming shorter when on letrozole? Before I used to be 24/25 days but the last two cycle is have been 22.

I also can't decide whether to start taking the next cycle today. I had really light bleeding yesterday, only noticable when wiping, and rhe same again today. I usually spot and then full flow comes so don't know what to do! I just don't want to miss a cycle.

Id take the letrozole when fully bleeding

I was always told cycle day 1 of consistent / proper bleeding

Hey!
I'm at the back end of my first cycle with 2.5mg (monitored cycle) with no follicle growth so I can't answer your question about the cycle length sorry. However, I called my clinic before I took my first one as I spot before my period too, and the consultant told me that my day 1 would be a full flow bleed, she explained it as, not being able to leave the house without wearing a menstrual product (pad/ tampon etc.)
I hope that helps

BreakfastOats · 01/11/2024 20:53

How’s everyone doing? Any pregnancies? 🤞

My scan showed 5 follicles this month, between 13-21mm on CD10. I triggered the next day. If this try doesn’t work, we’re considering moving to ICSI in January. I was told that due to my low AMH I’d need to be put on a long protocol which sounds terrifying 😅

Letrozolelastchance · 01/11/2024 20:57

I’m 6dpo after an unmonitored letrozole cycle with no trigger so going to test next week when I’m 10 dpo . Not feeling very hopeful but you never know🤞

BreakfastOats · 01/11/2024 21:09

@Letrozolelastchance not long before testing 🙌 how come you went unmonitored this time?

Letrozolelastchance · 01/11/2024 21:19

@Letrozolelastchance not long before testing 🙌 how come you went unmonitored this time?

I had initially seen one dr who wanted to just prescribe and I take them unmonitored but I felt uneasy so I went to a different one to have monitored cycles (2.5 mg each time and had 2 follicles each cycle) but it cost so much (£600-800 each cycle) so I decided as o had some letrozole left to just do what the first dr had recommend as I know my response on 2.5 plus the clinic I was at were very pushy about the trigger but I didn’t ever have ewcm and this cycle I had loads and did ovulation tests

Letrozolelastchance · 01/11/2024 21:20

Also for some reason testing out the trigger made me have really high anxiety as I wanted to test early but the trigger took so long to go out of my system

BreakfastOats · 01/11/2024 21:32

I only go for one scan per cycle at £200 and thought that’s pricey 😹 We considered taking a break in December but perhaps I’ll do the same with the tablets I have left. Also my husband finds knowing exactly when we have to DTD due to trigger quite intense! 🫣

susie1984234 · 02/11/2024 06:07

Hi everyone, after my last cycle didn't work out due to super early ovulation, I decided to take a break this month. I struggle with some side effects of the medication and myself and my partner are finding having to time sex hard as well!
Might start again on the next cycle depending on dates - I travel a bit for work.

For me this month has been less stressful - I'm not constantly symptom spotting for a change 😀

BreakfastOats · 02/11/2024 18:42

I miss life before starting TTC so a break sounds tempting! Enjoy yourself this month! @susie1984234
