Anyone ttc in 2024 after loss?

Lost my perfect little baby at the end of October. I was 15 weeks, baby was gone since 13 weeks. Planning to start ttc again in January. I am devastated and finding it hard to cope. Also extremely nervous about being pregnant again. Yet the need to have a living baby in my arms, outweighs the crippling fear. This little baby was my first too.

I'm so sorry for your loss - I'm in the process of trying again since my most recent loss in July (MMC at 10 weeks). Still no living children. I totally understand your fear - for me my worst fear happened and I lost another but whilst I've struggled, I'm still here and still trying. Keep talking to your partner and support network about how you're feeling (and on here too!). Fingers crossed 2024 is the year for both of us x

janey125N · 30/12/2023 21:14

Sooo sorry to hear that. Did you ever find a cause? I really hope 2024 is our year 🥰

@janey125N nope, had recurrent miscarriage tests including scans and blood tests and they've all come back normal. Just unlucky I guess!

Hopingrae · 30/12/2023 21:41

Hi @janey125N @moosey89 I'd love to join you guys on the journey! So sorry for your losses. I've just had 2 MCs in a row. Sooo rubbish. One spontaneously in August at 5.5 weeks and a MMC at 10 weeks on 1st December. AF arrived yesterday and DH and I want to try again straight away so will def be TTC again in Jan!
I'm so lucky to already have a DS who was 2 this month. I also had a MMC before him (with blighted ovum). I'm really hoping it's just been bad luck as each of my MCs have been different. I'm also 39 so guessing eggs aren't as good as once they were! Anyway, that's my story would be lovely to share the journey with you guys x

christmasmistletoe · 30/12/2023 21:51

I’ve just had a miscarriage at 6 weeks currently testing for ovulation every day so I can try again straight away good luck to you all.

DiaryOfaTTCer · 30/12/2023 21:53

Hi there

I had an early loss at 6 weeks in September. I have one DC aged three and it was our first cycle trying for a second baby. We have tried a little bit since then but not really properly. I'm on CD6 and planning to get properly back into things this cycle. I track BBT and use OPKs.

Would love to join you ladies if that's okay!

Gracie1825 · 30/12/2023 21:56

Hi,
Me too, had a MMC earlier this month at 10 weeks, had surgery week later so still waiting for my my body to be ready but want to try again asap.
i have a 10 yr ds and 6 yr dd

Nic2908 · 30/12/2023 21:56

Please can I join? I lost a baby at 16 weeks in March this year. January will be cycle 1 for us to start trying. New year and new start. I’m lucky I have my little boy who has just turned three. If it wasn’t for him I don’t know where I would be. I had no choice but to get up and show up for him every day. I too am petrified, sometimes like is so cruel.

Nic2908 · 30/12/2023 21:58

@Hopingrae in cycle day one today so we will be in it together this cycle. Fingers crossed. I’m 37 so approciate how you are feeling regarding egg quality.

moosey89 · 30/12/2023 22:09

Those of you who already have children please hold them extra tight! I hope one day I can be a mum, it's been a long journey already for me (first time I TTC was 8 years ago). We've started talking about adoption now as it's getting to that point where I can't keep putting myself through it every month x

Hopingrae · 30/12/2023 22:20

@Nic2908 oh wow we're really close together! Yes, we're in this together and everything firmly crossed. I'm curious about if ovulation will be affected/ delayed but guess time will tell.
So sorry there are so many of us here but hopefully we can support each other x

Ladyinpink1 · 30/12/2023 22:21

Hi, I'm so sorry for your loss @janey125N I am on cycle 4 ttc after a loss in August past and also a loss before that in December last year. Finding I'm more anxious as each cycle passes, scared it's never going to happen as I want it so much, but at the same time, I am so anxious it does happen and turns out to be another loss to go through. It's such a rolercoaster ttc after a loss isnt' it. x

panda42 · 30/12/2023 22:37

Hi @janey125N
Sorry for your loss.
I had a miscarriage in August at 7 weeks. We've been trying with no luck since but ovulation and period all over the place.
Currently in my TWW and going crazy symptom spotting 🙃
I'm 37 and can't help but worry I've left it too late 😞

worldwidetravel2017 · 31/12/2023 00:16

Had a loss in the autumn

Trying again next yr

Back on FA Jan 1st

worldwidetravel2017 · 31/12/2023 00:17

Have you guys had progesterone tested since your losses ?

Tommys baby charity have lots of stories of happy ending after loss etc thanks to progesterone

moosey89 · 31/12/2023 07:22

@worldwidetravel2017 yup and apparently it's ok but the EPU said they would still prescribe it if I get pregnant again as it can't do any harm.

Jmz · 31/12/2023 08:00

Hi all, I’ve been a long time lurker but thought I’d finally post as I could do with the support!
I had a miscarriage at almost 6 weeks in May this year and still no bfp yet. I got quite caught up in the whole ‘you’re more fertile straight after a loss’ which has led to more disappointment.
Fingers crossed for all of us x

Hopingrae · 31/12/2023 08:12

@worldwidetravel2017 have you had your progesterone tested? I asked about getting progesterone at epu most recent time as I've had 3 losses (not in a row). They said they'd prescribe it next time after I'd had a viability scan and only if I was bleeding. Don't know how I'd get it otherwise. Heard lots of success stories though!!
My GP is speaking to local hosp about getting tests/referral to recurrent clinic so hoping it would be tested as part of that! Just want all bases covered.
@panda42 I know everyone is different, myself and a few of my friends had first baby at 37+. I remember my midwife saying "you're still young!" at my first booking appointment with him. So hopefully lots of time for you still.

UnderstatedElegance · 31/12/2023 08:22

I'm sorry to hear of everyone's losses. We lost our baby boy at the beginning of this month at 6w3d. I'm almost 39, so time isn't on my side.
We are hoping to conceive in 2024. I'm just waiting on my first af to arrive so I can get a better idea of my cycles again.
Wishing everyone all of the luck 🍀

moosey89 · 31/12/2023 08:24

@Jmz sorry for your loss, I did the same and the disappointment was so much worse. That old wives tale needs to stop!

Jmz · 31/12/2023 09:37

@moosey89 Yes, it’s like a mixture of temporary reassurance with pressure on high expectations!
So sorry for your losses too xx
