I have a 2 year old and looking to start TTC later year. I made great friends on here last time when trying to conceive in 2020 so thought I would start a thread for anyone who is trying to conceive whilst looking after another child (in my case a toddler ekkk)

I tested this lunch for a why the hell not on a premom... I was like is that a vvvfl. Tested again tonight at 8dpo and very positive. Good luck to all this month!

Bubblesandtroubles · 27/10/2023 21:22

@GrowingPeanuts Congratulations!! 🥰 Good going getting such a definite result at 8dpo! xx

deliwoman1 · 28/10/2023 11:12

Congrats @Chocolatehobnobs2948 and @GrowingPeanuts ! Wishing you both happy and healthy pregnancies!

AF showed for me today. 😕 On to Cycle 5!

Chocolatehobnobs2948 · 28/10/2023 11:41

Thanks @deliwoman1, and sorry about your negative. Hopefully better luck next cycle.

Having some really weird symptoms every morning...racing heart, dizziness, sort of like I'm about to have a panic attack, accompanied by a feeling of sadness and dread for no particular reason.
Then as the day goes on I start to feel better. Anyone had anything like that before? I didn't have it with first pregnancy so not sure if I should be calling the GP about it.

Wyewaving · 28/10/2023 12:15

Congratulations @GrowingPeanuts!

I tested this morning as my period is due today, BFN. I found myself feeling really glum about it. Just got to wait for AF to show up now then onto cycle three.

Bubblesandtroubles · 28/10/2023 15:17

@GrowingPeanuts I think I get similar. Like a galloping heart and the dread feeling. I'm hoping just hormones balancing etc xx

Hi all I was here in earlier months but I was wondering if I could join back as I've started to have a chemical loss at 5-6 weeks. It's my third chemical loss so feeling quite deflated although I have had one successful pregnancy so there's a chance eventually I might have some luck again. Although it took 16 months the first time.

Does anyone know how soon you can ovulate after a loss? I'm not sure if I can class this as cycle day 1. I just want to move forward and think of this as a start again.

Hey! Hope you are ok. It's so difficult having an early loss, I had one too last cycle and it was our first ever natural conception. Our son was IVF.
So I would treat the bleeding as day 1 of your cycle and you will mostly ovulate as normal.
I started bleeding 13th October and ovulating today on day 18 (usually ovulate day 17 so not that different). I bled quite heavily for 8 days xx

mumsince2021 · 30/10/2023 13:32

I'm sorry to hear that @Swirls346! I've been spotting for 4 days but today is the first day I'm properly bleeding so I'm assuming this would be CD1. It's annoying at my cheap test strips are still showing a faint positive I'd have preferred to see them negative by now as I really want to just ovulate again this cycle and get back to it! I've ordered some LH strips to check this cycle... my last 5 cycles I wasn't tracking. It's going to be more stressful now.

That's good you did ovulate around your usual time straight after fingers crossed for you for this month. It's harder to take the losses when TTC is so difficult isn't it?

Wyewaving · 30/10/2023 14:30

So sorry @mumsince2021. Do you have ovulation tests you can use to keep an eye on what your body is doing?

AF arrived this morning. I was thinking of trying SMEP this cycle but my husband is away with work at the start of my fertile window, it would also mean an August baby which ideally I’d like to avoid. I don’t feel like we can’t continue to try though so who knows what will happen.

mumsince2021 · 30/10/2023 15:22

Thanks @Wyewaving i was thinking of buying ovulation tests but actually I'm reluctant as I've wasted loads of money on FRERs and CB Digitals this pregnancy. I'm actually done with those now as the cheap strip tests showed the progress and reduction in lines and I think they are enough to watch the progression in future. It's quite painful to think how much these companies earn from our anxiety and misery. But you need to watch line progression when you are prone to losses and/or have ongoing spotting and bleeding threatening miscarriage.

Sorry you've had another chemical. I've been there it's tough. I actually had a chemical in July and counted the 1st day of bleeding as my 'period' Based on that my husband and I dtd on when I should technically have ovulated and we caught the next month straight away...I'm now 12 weeks. You're apparently more fertile the first 3 months afterwards so there is a chance you'll get pregnant quickly after.

Good luck.

Thanks for this. Also just suffered a chemical and wasn't sure if I would ovulate this month. it was only at just over 4 weeks though. it was very odd as had my period but it was lighter than usual and very brown and stopped after 4 days. I then started bleeding again the evening of day 5 at which point i took a test and was pregnant. went to my ivf clinic to see what was going on (I was under an IVF clinic when we conceived DD but she was a between IVF baby) but it was clear that i was losing it and day 7 my tests had turned completely negative again. Bled for about 4-5 days. now wondering whether to try again this month or just leave it.

my daughter was kind of accidental and my husbands sperm count is three times what it was back then so i assumed this would be easy.

i'm taking it as a good sign that i got pregnant on my second month. I'm seeing the gyno at the ivf clinic today as worried my progesterone was very low. not sure if that caused the chemical or it was low cos of the chemical. I also have a very short luteal phase (8 days) so want some advice.

Swirls346 · 01/11/2023 15:16

@Bells3032 it's horrible having a chemical but if you feel ready to try again this month there's no need to wait for any reason (medically). I'm not sure we've dtd enough this month but also have a gut feeling it's happened so we will see, I don't like to get my hopes up.
How old is your daughter?
We also have male factor infertility caused by a varicocele but haven't got a clue what my partners sperm count is now Cus that was over 2 years ago he did the test (well nearly 3 actually). Hes going to get a count done again soon. But we will give it a good couple of years of trying before even considering ivf. What improved your partners count if you don't mind me asking? X

Bells3032 · 01/11/2023 15:36

@Swirls346 thanks. the doctor's appt went well. she said this kind of chemical with a weird bleeding pattern is common in women with short luteal phases. so she's given me progesterone to give egg a bit more of a chance to embed before Aunt Flo sends the eviction notice and she said it's fine to try again this month if i ovulate. so we will see.

My husbands issues are very specific but he had cancer as child which damaged his puturity gland (where all the hormones are managed) so he lacked the hormones to create sperm. so he has been on drugs to basically bypass the brain and tell his balls to create sperm. when we first started he had 10 immobile sperm and we were told because he was so young when it happened his body probably never created many of the cell lines that produce sperm so if it worked at all we'd never get above a million and we had less than a 5% chance of ever conceiving naturally so skip straight to ivf. so we did. his count is now over 12million and good quality motility etc too :)

Hello 😊
Hope everyone is doing okay. We've had a horrid month with ttc so been a total eight off due to a lot of family stuff.
My mood is definitely low as well as my cycles are so long right now and opks don't seem to be working or I'm not ovulating at all 😰
Currently on day 40 waiting on AF and plan next month is BD every 2 days 🙃
