I have a 2 year old and looking to start TTC later year. I made great friends on here last time when trying to conceive in 2020 so thought I would start a thread for anyone who is trying to conceive whilst looking after another child (in my case a toddler ekkk)

@SillyFillyDress good luck 🍀, if you don't mind me asking did your GP prescribe you meds or have you had to go private?

I'm on cycle 7 and not convinced I'm ovulating

SillyFillyDress · 25/09/2023 10:52

@hydrangeaan I went private for a prescription. I'm ovulating but I have pcos and my cycle is a mess (cramps and spotting).

Scarftown · 25/09/2023 11:36

Can I join you all? I am trying to conceive #2. I have a 2 year old and we have been trying for #2 since March but so far not a sniff.

a few things against us. I'm 39, we have conflicting schedules so finding time to DTD never mind at the right time is difficult. And my 2yr old is a boob monster and so I think still breastfeeding is also working against us.

I started my period today so I'm out this month but it's made me realise I really do want a second and I need to start taking matters in to my own hands and not just go by the fingers crossed method.

Hope everyone is well. No TTC last month as we were on holiday with my parents 🙈

Annoyingly, my period still hasn’t started so it looks like we won’t get to try this month either as I’m away from the 15th for a week. The two apps I use have totally different period start dates and ovulation dates. If one of them was right I’d have come on last Friday and I would have ovulated before I went away, but now it looks like I’ll be ovulating when I’m away.

So frustrated by this, stupidly (probably) I wanted to have another baby before my 39th birthday in July next year but now it looks like it won’t happen. I also didn’t fancy having a baby in the height of summer but if we end up catching as quickly as we did last time there is a chance that will happen now.

It probably sounds really daft but don’t feel like I can talk to anyone IRL about it.

After moaning earlier this month that I would be away for ovulation, I ended up having to come home for one night during my holiday (I was only 1.5 hours away). I came home either the day after I ovulated or the day of ovulating depending on which app I listen to.

It means I'm now in my 2WW. I'm due on either on Saturday or Sunday. If I've not started my period by Sunday I'm going to test with a cheap strip test I've ordered.

We'll be incredibly lucky if we have caught but I'm still symptom spotting 😬So far in the last couple of days I've noticed that my sense of smell has increased (when I was pregnant last time my sense of smell was ridiculously high) and I've experienced weird stabbing pains on one side of my abdomen. Could be nothing though.

Good luck to all those in your 2WW!

Bells3032 · 25/09/2023 16:05

So I am officially out this month. Af, after a couple of days of playing a weird game with me, finally made her full apperance. I'm a little upset but not as bad as I thought would be. Maybe for the best. I have my COVID jab on Friday so maybe best not to have that at 5 weeks and my bil is expecting and they'd have only been like 6 weeks apart or maybe less even so better for my in laws.

I guess I always thought it would happen quickly but even the healthiest couples only have a 30% chance each month. Onto the next one with some fun, sexy times ahead

KM8 · 25/09/2023 19:19

Sorry to hear periods have arrived for some of you, but onwards to the next month and lots of baby making 😉

I've come down with such a cold, sex is the last thing I feel like but as I'm in a peak and could be ovulating today, I'm powering through to DTD tonight!

If we don't catch this month then I really don't think we could have done any more.....feeling sexed out haha 😂

Good luck everyone!

Cressie2 · 25/09/2023 19:37

@KM8 in the same boat. GOOD EFFORT 😂

KM8 · 25/09/2023 20:15

@Cressie2 where abouts in your cycle are you? 😂

Cressie2 · 25/09/2023 20:31

@KM8 2 DPO- sounds like you are similar. Hope you get well soon.

@Bells3032 sorry to hear this. I agree, we all get our hopes up each month but you’re right, only around 30% chance each month so I’m not expecting this month to be a success at all. Good to have other women going through the same process though isn’t it.

KM8 · 26/09/2023 21:17

Just a quick one....my clear blue ovulation test showed a peak on Sunday, I read on the instructions that it stays as a peak for 48 hours and says not to test any more in the cycle as it causes an error?
Is it possible to have a peak that lasts longer, in which case if I don't test I won't know?

Any help is great! Total newbie to ovulation testing 🤦‍♀️

Cressie2 · 26/09/2023 21:41

@KM8 I think the LH surge only lasts up to two day maximum which is why Clearblue states that.

Ovulation itself only lasts for 12 to 24 hours.

If your surge was on Sunday I’d do it again tonight just to make sure you don’t miss it. X

deliwoman1 · 27/09/2023 06:51

10dpo today ladies, and a BFN. No symptoms either so I’m certain that’s me out.

I’m wondering now whether I should get some fertility tests done to see where I’m at. DP too maybe.

Good luck to those of you still waiting to test!

Swirls346 · 27/09/2023 15:38

Hi everyone!
Thinking of you all. We are still ttc naturally , just ovulated so really hoping for a miracle. I know chances are low but really trying to remain positive . I'm booked in for blood tests and partner a semen analysis and then they'll refer us and can discuss him having the operation for the varicocele.
How is everyone x

Wyewaving · 27/09/2023 17:35

9DPO here and I just caved and did a test. Negative. I was kind of expecting it to be positive based on how I feel this week. Going to re-test in the morning with FMU.

With my daughter I tested at like 3pm 2/3 days before my period and got a strong positive right away so thought the same might happen if I tested now but hey ho.

Chocolatehobnobs2948 · 27/09/2023 18:35

BFN yesterday for me 😭 It's only been 2 cycles but I'm so impatient, with my first I was pregnant by now. Hoping for 3rd time lucky in October.

KM8 · 28/09/2023 06:57

@Chocolatehobnobs2948 @Wyewaving @Swirls346 @deliwoman1
It's such a deflating feeling isn't it when we see a negative or get our period but I'm trying to keep positive and think it means onwards to the next month of trying.

Im only 4DPO and keep feeling pms symptoms already so thinking I'm out this month too - the TWW seems so long each time!

Bells3032 · 28/09/2023 08:13

@Wyewaving I wouldn't expect a positive on 9dpo unless FMU and even then. fingers crossed for you this morning!

Wyewaving · 28/09/2023 08:40

@Bells3032 another negative this morning with FMU so I think that’s me out. We would have been incredibly lucky to have caught this month but it’s still not a great feeling.

Chocolatehobnobs2948 · 28/09/2023 15:26

@KM8 Yeah deflated is exactly right, but just got to remember there's only about 30% chance of pregnancy in each cycle, so it's normal for it to take a while.
AF arrived today so definitely out this month. There's always that little hope that the pregnancy test was wrong, but nope.

KM8 · 28/09/2023 18:14

Do you order first response tests online? I know last month when I was looking for them (but then didn't need them as I came on!) I couldn't see them in boots or at supermarkets?

Cressie2 · 28/09/2023 18:35

I think they have been discontinued from all UK supermarkets @KM8. I used boots early ones. X

Mummysparrow · 28/09/2023 18:37

No way, why have they been discontinued?! They are the best tests

False positives apparently

Mummysparrow · 28/09/2023 19:10

I actually found them more reliable then blue dye. What a shame

Me too, I've found boots own pink dye are also very sensitive and accurate.
