Hey everyone!

Is anyone else trying TTC #1?

I think I’m 9DPO although my cycles vary from 28-34 days so I’m really not sure. This is my first cycle TTC so I haven’t tracked ovulation.

I took a clear blue ultra early digital test this morning and BFN, I’ve heard digitals aren’t as accurate, is that true? (The way the test was laid and how I was sat meant the ‘not’ was in the shadow so for a second I thought it just said pregnant, was gutted!)

Any advice on not driving yourself mad during the TWW? 😂

@Lunamoon23 massive congratulations!!! Could I ask how many cycles it took, looking for some hope after AF arrived today 🙁

How are you getting on with keeping it a secret! There’s no way I could but it’ll be a lovely moment when you’re away if you manage to!

@Bluebell0921 I know what you mean, I’m 27 but I’m already thinking this could take years yet what if I run out of time? I’m an only child and so is my mum, we both hated it so I’ve always said I’d want multiple children. Of course I would be absolutely over the moon to have just one but I’d really like multiple. I wanted to have 3 and be done by 32, no chance at this rate 😂

Have you had investigations done yet? Apologies you’ve most likely already said but we’ve been on this thread so long I’ve forgotten 😅

AF arrived for me today, I think this was cycle 16 or 17 still with no luck!

@kalixxx we were trying for 10 months, I'll be honest, I was blown away that it happened. Especially as id been quiet unwell for a couple of months and was awaiting investigation for potential Crohn's disease, if lost alot of weight (never been above 9 1/2) but dropped down just below 8, I was exhausted and in pain all the time and the month we conceived we only had sex once in our fertile window which was the day I got a peak on my ovulation test.
The only thing I did differently was I was using a hot water bottle every night because of the pain..
I genuinely didn't think I'd be pregnant for a while with all that going on .. and usually I wouldn't test unless my period didn't arrive but for some reason I decided to test at 10DPO this month using my second morning wee and was gobsmacked!! I was convinced it was a false positive or faulty test. I messaged my best friend and she saw it, so then I used a clear blue digital the following morning and it was positive! I tested again this morning and much darker. I'm 31, 32 this year and this will be our first, and possibly our only. I've sort of only ever seen myself with one, but I know that may well change once we've had one.
How long have you been trying?

And so far, I've managed to keep it hush! It's been so hard and I'm going to scream a sigh of relief when it's finally out and I can talk freely with my husband and mum about it!! But, we've had such a shit time of things recently, I wanted it to be a special moment: so I'm determined to hold it in. I've managed to for a week so far ... got this week and new to go! I think I can do it!!
Rang the midwives today and waiting on a call back, to book my first appt as by the time we're back from holiday, based on how they calculate how far gone you are, (first day of last period) I'll be 8 weeks!! Which seems mad to me! Never understood why they date it that way, as those first two weeks you can't be pregnant, but .. what do I know! Haha

Bluebell0921 · 15/04/2024 20:20

@kalixxx sorry to hear AF arrived. It’s so hard not to jump ahead and think about multiple children.

I’m a bit older than you (33) and I’d originally wanted 4!!! No way I’m gonna fit 4 in haha! Then I said ok 3, now I’m down to 2. I wanted to fit 2 in before 35 but that’s not gonna happen. It’s so hard isn’t it. We’ve only really tried for 6 months so not had any tests yet. I think we’ll start trying again in a few months and I’ll give it another 6 and then think about tests. What about you?

kalixxx · 18/04/2024 11:27

@Lunamoon23 ah I’m so so sorry to hear you’ve been going through all that, what a rough time. It does seem true that it’ll happen the times you least expect it.

How are you getting on? Any symptoms yet?!

I’m so impressed you’ve managed to keep it a secret, I could never! But you’re right it’ll be worth keeping it in when you do finally have that moment when you’re away, how exciting! I still don’t really understand why the count pregnancy from the start of your cycle, maybe I should be happy as I could
say that 1 week pregnant right now 😂

We’ve been trying since December 2022, it’s crazy how fast the time has gone. My OH’s sperm analysis is booked for June, that was the earliest date they had!! My blood has come back to show I’m ovulating and I had my ovaries scanned last year, not to do with fertility I was having stomach pain so they checked them anyway, but the doctor said they look good as I mentioned we were TTC. So sadly it’s looking likely it’s my OH with a possible issue.

@Bluebell0921 I was the same, I wanted 4 to start with! I have a very small family so I wanted to surround my self with my own babies 😅

Ah that was it, I forgot you weren’t trying too long before your break. You never know, the first month you start TTC again it could happen!

I’ve had my bloods done and they’ve confirmed I’m ovulating. My OH’s sperm analysis is booked for mid-June, we booked this last month and it was the earliest appt they had! We probably would have gone private if we were a couple years older as NHS wait times are obviously crazy. I think depending on the results we’ll then assess the situation!

Lunamoon23 · 18/04/2024 18:56

@kalixxx I've been having a few symptoms: sore boobs, my nipples are randomly hard sometimes 😂, fatigue, hungrier than normal and I've been getting bouts of quiet intense period pain like cramps and lower back pain that come and go, then don't last long but apparently it's your uterus stretching and completely normal.. (I googled it to death as I was panicking)
And I'm on the home stretch now... only just over a week to go and I can spill the beans haha! I've taken some Polaroids of our dogs with positive pregnancy tests, got a personalised baby grow and going to take a digital clear blue the morning of and put it into a box for him. I'll give it to him after he's opened his other presents and I'm going to try and film it without him noticing 😂 I've got a similar thing for my mum and step dad, with a baby grow saying 'nanny and grandad and I'll pop the pregnancy test in it too. Going to give it to them at dinner one evening on the cruise and film that too, hoping to put together a little montage video of it all.

Can I ask, have you been tracking with ovulation tests? I found that extremely helpful and used them throughout our journey, always helped me pin down exactly when I was most fertile and on the month we conceived we had sex the day I got my peak (only the once) we used pre seed and after I laid with my legs in the air for like 10 minutes and then laid in bed with a hot water bottle after (apparently providing a warm environment for the uterus helps with blood flow which helps pregnancy) although I was using it because I wasn't feeling well. We also did missionary... sorry tmi but just thought if any of it is helpful to you. Xxx

kalixxx · 04/06/2024 12:59

@Lunamoon23 Hey! Sorry I’ve been of Mumsnet for a while not checked this read. How did telling your OH go? I hope everything is going smoothly!!

@Nmmck93 @Bluebell0921 @dormicumema I know it’s been a while that we posted on here but wanted to see how you’re all getting on if you’re still on Mumsnet?

OP posts:
dormicumema · 04/06/2024 18:16

@kalixxx hello dear! How are you holding? Did your DH manage to do SA?
No good news from me. Tried letrozole 5mg for three cycles and repeated ultrasounds to check if I ovulated. Still unexplained here.
So we decided this year to completely go private route BC this is all taking too long. Next week we have an apt at a different fertility clinic, I am hoping for ivf route soon. It hasnt been that drastically long, 19 months in total, however every month is a mental battle and I wish it could be over...

Lunamoon23 · 04/06/2024 18:47

@kalixxx it was amazing telling him, he's over the moon and he's so excited, can't wait for our first scan so he can start telling people, which is next Friday (14th) so far we've only told my immediate family.
Feeling great, tiredness is a killer but I'm on my feet all day everyday at work from like 8-3. So i get home and I'm done but otherwise feeling good! I've managed to escape morning sickness which is amazing and I consider myself very lucky.

How's things going your end? Xxx

Nmmck93 · 05/06/2024 10:20

@kalixxx hi lovely, how's things.
I've been off MN for the last while to try not over think TTCing lol.
Partner got a cancellation for is SA last week so his doctor has his results and we shall get them today or tomorrow. I have an appointment on Friday with my doctor then to see where to go from there but want to chat about getting checked for endo due to the last two months having symptoms and passing big massive clots during AF, I've had two operations before around 10 & 11 years ago so hoping to get some answers soon.

Also on the job hunt as my contract ends in a few weeks so have alot going on but just trying not to stress.

Hope all is good with you xx

kalixxx · 06/06/2024 08:40

@dormicumema Ah I’m sorry to hear there’s no good news from you. I don’t blame you for going private, the NHS is such a slow process. We’ve got SA next week, I first requested a GP appointment back in January to talk about fertility, so it’s taken 6 months just to get to this point! I think if we were a few years older we’d be going private, I’m 27 (28 in a coupon of months) so I’d like to have my first by the time I’m 30 now. I can’t believe I thought it would happen the first cycle 18 months ago!

I hope your appt goes well and you get some answers soon, do keep us posted!

@Lunamoon23 Ahh amazing, I’m so pleased everything is going well! That’s great that you’ve managed to escape morning sickness as well, how lucky! I can’t wait for the moment I finally get to tell my OH, whenever that is!

We’ve got my OHs analysis next week so I’m hoping after that we’ll start to get some answers as to why it’s taking so long.

@Nmmck93 ah I’m sorry to hear still no good news from you! That’s great that you managed to get a cancellation, we’ve got SA next week, been waiting about 3 months! I’m hoping after this we’ll finally get some answers. I was wondering how long it would take to get the results, that’s not too bad getting them after a week, I was preparing myself to have to wait weeks and weeks.

I hope you finally start to get some answers from the SA and also from your own tests.

Do keep me posted if you do come onto Mumsnet! I’ve not been on here much either recently, trying to chill out on TTC.

I’m actually in for a small surgery this morning and they had to do a pregnancy test, sadly no one has told me that I’m miraculously pregnant 🥲😂 I am only 9/10 DPO so trying not to think too much into it and hold out hope.

dormicumema · 06/06/2024 14:14

@kalixxx omg congratulations! You havent got any symptoms?

kalixxx · 06/06/2024 15:23

@dormicumema is this meant to be in response to someone else? I sadly don’t have anything to be congratulating 🥲😂

OP posts:
dormicumema · 06/06/2024 16:03

@kalixxx it was, i am so sorry for the response. But really hope maybe this mistake means it is really close for you. For both of us :)

kalixxx · 15/06/2024 17:56

@Nmmck93 how were your results? Sadly not good news for us, OHs analysis came back with only a 1 million count, 2% morphology, I can’t remember motility off hand but that was the only positive at around 60%. We’ve got to repeat again in another 3 months. Feeling pretty low about it but going to try new numerous things in the mean time.

OP posts:
Nmmck93 · 15/06/2024 21:57

@kalixxx oh hunny I’m sorry, did they say any changes to make to help boost anything?
My partner came back al positive, his morphology is at 3% but they said that’s nothing to worry about due to the fact they take a small sample from the actual sample so it could have been just that smaller sample.
they said conception vitamin, veg, less greasy fatty foods should help it but morphology isn’t a big thing.
x

Nmmck93 · 15/06/2024 22:03

@kalixxx i took a picture of the results.

Anyone else TTC #1? Just looking for TTC buddies!
kalixxx · 17/06/2024 11:40

@Nmmck93 ahh that’s great that his have come back positive! I’ve read that morphology isn’t an issue if you’ve got a high count so your results look great!

No the GP wasn’t very helpful to be honest, they text him to say he could collect the results from the surgery but he’d need to repeat due to some low scorers and that was it! No information on how to improve or even how to interpret the results. Thankfully I’ve done enough research so I knew what it all meant.

I’ve sent them to my GP and they’ve booked a telephone appointment for 2 weeks time. I’m hoping we can have our referral progressed without them needing a repeat of the test. We’re still going to repeat but the earliest appointment I could get is mid September! Which I guess is fine I guess as it gives time for improvement. I just don’t want to have to wait until September to be referred to a clinic. I think we’re going to try proxeed plus and him cutting down on alcohol. He doesn’t drink in the week but does love a good drink over the weekend, so that might be a challenge 😅 I hardly drink these days so that should help him.

What’s the next step for you? X

OP posts:
Nmmck93 · 17/06/2024 19:21

@kalixxx aw hun! Hopefully with enough googling you can find stuff to help boost and promote it.
Your partner is the same as mine, he doesn’t drink during the week but does love a drink at the weekend, even with me not drinking at all doesn’t stop him from guzzling some beer. I’m just trying to get him to eat better now, he’s stick thin and eats one meal a day. So need to change that habit.

next for me is day 21 tests (was suppose to be today but I only got peak on Friday so had to change them to this Friday) then day 2/3 tests. Which I don’t understand how I will do that as AF will be due next Friday so day 2/3 is the weekend and can’t get them done.. just hope she doesn’t show.
I’ve also been referred to gynae for an internal scan and a hycosy due to the last 2 months my periods have been killers and especially may I was passing TMI huge clots.

i went into overthinking mode then because I tested 10DPO & was negative so went on a hen weekend and drank a lot and then the Monday I started heavy bleeding and passing clots for 2.5 days then light bleeding & now severe delayed ovulation compared to my normal CD12 ovulation I just was thinking the worst and was I actually pregnant because I had spotting on 6DPO during that TWW but was told to stop overthinking and it’s just my cycle changing with age or possible cyst.

anyways, please keep updated. But also ring and see if you can get on the cancellation list for your partners test, we where originally given end of august and ended up a lot week later being called around 3pm the Tuesday for an appointment 2 days later.

Bluebell0921 · 19/06/2024 17:53

@kalixxx sorry for the delay things have been hectic! No news from me.

just saw your results and just wanted to say how crap the GP sounds. How completely unhelpful and unsupportive. I know nothing about what the results mean but surely they must understand that a young couple who want a baby are going to feel worried and upset if they google. Honestly, I despair at the lack of emotional intelligence. Really hope you can speak to someone else for a bit more advice and reassurance. Sending lots of good vibes your way xx

Nmmck93 · 03/07/2024 13:51

Hey girls how is everyone doing?

im not doing so well, I’ve been crying streams since earlier, basically had my day 21 tests done one the 21st of June then my day 2/3 on the 1st of July. (2 days ago)
i just got a phonecall from the nurse to say the doctor has requested more bloods to be done. I asked could they tell me what came up in my bloods or what is being redone and she said they can’t tell me and to come tomorrow for them to be done. To me this means something is badly wrong because I’m such a negative person and reading what day 3 tests actually test for then seeing that if the results come back low or high for some it could mean really bad egg reserve or quality or something.

has anyone had this & what it was, now I’m sitting worrying something is wrong.

13Bastards · 03/07/2024 20:31

Checking in to say we have given up. Tried for 18 months and no joy. We are too old for IVF on the NHS and DP has a child already so we wouldn't qualify. We are just going to have lots of lovely holidays instead. Best of luck everyone xxx

Bluebell0921 · 07/07/2024 19:19

@Nmmck93 hi lovely I’ve just seen your post. Have you got any more news?

it’s so difficult not to jump to worst case scenario when you get a call like that and it’s so unhelpful that they won’t tell you anything.

I’ve previously had a serious health condition (not fertility related). I remember when they called me to ask me to come in for my results and I absolutely lost my mind. I jumped to worst case scenario and whilst the news wasn’t the best it was no where near as bad as I thought it was gonna be. It was somewhere in the middle. It’s understandable that you are worrying, it’s what minds do but try and distract yourself and look after yourself as much as you can until you know what you’re dealing with. Sending you lots of hugs!

Cloud2376 · 07/07/2024 21:09

Hi all hope its OK to jump on this thread. I'm 41, we've been ttc since December. I had a chemical mc in January and nothing since. Its just been hard to keep going, as I'm sure a lot of you understand in this thread when it seems everyone else is having a baby! Just looking for some ttc buddies

Nmmck93 · 09/07/2024 14:02

@Bluebell0921 hi lovely,
yes went for the bloods the best day and asked what it was for the nurse done everything so she could find out for me what it was, turns out you get a blood sugar test done at day 3 & mines was quite high so the further tests was for blood sugars over the last 3 months.

my nerves have been wrecked recently looking for a new jobs etc, and the stress has been so bad. But I finally got a fulltime permanent post starting September. So one less worry, but now just waiting for gynaecology to cal me for my tests. It’s so hard to be positive.

last month my Ovulation was a week late, then my period was 3 days late. But hopefully now ovulation comes this week and we can try again.

how’re you getting on?

@Cloud2376 welcome lovely, this thread isn’t as active as what it use to be but we always check it to see for updates and the ladies here are ones I always come and ask for advice from so please join!
it can be daunting & I’m so sorry hear about your loss!
ive been TTC since Feb 2023 and haven’t had even as much as a positive at all so now going through testing. Hope you are doing good x

Bluebell0921 · 09/07/2024 19:12

@Nmmck93 are you feeling a bit more reassured now that they’ve said it was to check the sugars ? I assume that doesn’t really have any implications for fertility?

it sounds like you’ve got a lot going on and dealing with a lot of uncertainty. It’s completely understandable that you’re finding it hard to be positive. Keeping everything crossed for you that you get the call from gynae soon.

I’m not too bad. Still trying to find a house but no luck. I think I would’ve ideally liked to start trying again before now but the house situation is delaying it. I feel a bit unsure what to do whether to wait a few more months in the hope of finding a house or whether to just stop being careful and see what happens.
