Hey everyone!

Is anyone else trying TTC #1?

I think I’m 9DPO although my cycles vary from 28-34 days so I’m really not sure. This is my first cycle TTC so I haven’t tracked ovulation.

I took a clear blue ultra early digital test this morning and BFN, I’ve heard digitals aren’t as accurate, is that true? (The way the test was laid and how I was sat meant the ‘not’ was in the shadow so for a second I thought it just said pregnant, was gutted!)

Any advice on not driving yourself mad during the TWW? 😂

@kalixxx I’m really sorry, starting af is always the absolute worst :( try and do something nice for yourself tonight to lessen the blow. My period is due on Friday roughly so I am also waiting for the witch…

kalixxx · 22/01/2024 14:50

@hopingforapeainapod I took this one quite hard as I felt like we gave it a good go last month. Ready for cycle 13 or 14, I’ve lost count now!!

How are you getting on? Please tell me AF hasn’t arrived!

@Nmmck93 update on my telephone appointment, it’s been moved to the 8th February now 😭

@kalixxx sadly AF came right on time! But I saw a different doctor today and I felt much more reassured by her - she was super thorough and on it and had a much better bedside manner (my original doctor was so clinic and blunt and was literally like just wait for ivf). This new doctor suggested I have a monitored cycle which basically means I will have some scans around day 10 and then when it looks like I’m ready to ovulate I will have a HCG trigger and progesterone and some more scans so she can get a really good look at what’s going on. If that doesn’t work then will try Letrozole next month. So feel slightly reassured that we at least have a plan now, even if I was obviously very upset af arrived!

kalixxx · 12/02/2024 10:20

@hopingforapeainapod so sorry for the delay in coming back to you!

Thats so nice to hear that you’ve had a better experience. You must be in the TWW of this cycle now? How are you getting on, has this been your monitored cycle?

I had my first GP appointment last week as it’s now been over a year TTC. She was super nice and I’m going to have day 2-4 and 21 bloods done to start with and a semen analysis for my OH. I’m not sure how to book in my 2-4 day bloods as I don’t know for sure what day I’ll come on so could end up booking in the wrong day and then I’m worried they won’t have any appointments for the day I need 😖

@Nmmck93 how have you been! Also see above for how my first appt went! I’m probably 10-12 DPO right now, we barely managed to DTD around ovulation this cycle so not holding out any hope!

hopingforapeainapod · 12/02/2024 10:32

@kalixxx Hey again! So yup had a monitored cycle this month - had a scan on Day 5, Day 10 and Day 14 and then lining and follicle looked all ready to go so I had a HCG trigger and then also been on progesterone which has so far helped with pre-period spotting. Am 9DPO so very much in the thick of the horrible TWW. That’s great that your GP was nice and you’ve now got a bit of a plan in place! I know what you mean about the cycle day thing though - cause I’ve gone private so far it’s been a bit easier to get a test when I need to but I’m sure the NHS will factor in some flexibility with this so hopefully if you give them a call as soon as your period starts and explain the situation they can get you in!

Nmmck93 · 13/02/2024 16:58

@kalixxx hiya lovely! I'm on CD 5 AF is still here which is probably the longest she's been here. I think I'm going to go off the forum and stuff over the next few months completely as I do find myself in the TWW spending so much time reading threads.

I'm so glad you got a lovely doctor and hopefully get the ball rolling now. Are you and your OH at the same doctor practice? I'm only asking because when I got my 21 day tests done my doctor told me that he can't do nothing for my other half as he is at a different GP practice.
I would just ring the day you come on (if you do come on) and say the doctor wants your bloods done on certain days and hopefully they can accommodate you.

My OH is going in may to ask his doctors to run a seman analysis test and when he gets his results I'm going back to my doctor with his results and get my tests redone and hopefully get a move on things then aswell! It's just so stressful, we've had so many pregnancies and new babies around us that people are boasting about being 'accidents and its just so hard to cope with sometimes.

Hope all goes well lovely.

kalixxx · 20/02/2024 12:53

@hopingforapeainapod how are you getting on? Keeping everything crossed that you have good news?

I had my first blood test today, needed to move it from last Friday but it was no drama! Now just got to wait for day 21 😅

@Nmmck93 how are you getting on lovely? You must be in the dreaded TWW now?

I don’t blame you, I’ve taken a step back from Mumsnet and just check in on this thread and another that I’m on from time to time, hoping to see that people like you have finally had their BFP!

I’ve had my first blood test today so now just need to wait for day 21. My GP also said they couldn’t do anything for OH, he’s contacted his GP and has appt next month, they won’t give him a semen test without speaking to him first 🙄. I hope everything goes well with your OH’s tests in May, he’s not had them done before has he?

I’m actually in the process of interviewing for a new job so we may take a few months off, OH doesn’t want to but what can you do!

It seems every time I open instagram there’s a new pregnancy announcement at the moment, it’s hard not be jealous.

If you do stay off Mumsnet please do come back and let me know when you finally get your BFP! 🩷

@kalixxx can’t really believe I am saying this but I finally got my bfp!! Tested positive on 10dpo and now 17dpo and things are looking good 🤞 it is of course very early days (think I am only about 4.5 weeks) and going in for a blood test on Thursday to check everything is progressing well - I am still in shock!!

Bluebell0921 · 24/02/2024 10:53

@hopingforapeainapod omg congrats!!! Incredible news! havent checked mumsnet for ages. So lovely to come on and see this post.

I’ve been getting stuck in at my new job. I don’t know what’s happened to me but I’ve lost all broodiness. Not interested in having a baby at all. Very bizarre. We’re looking to move so work and that have taken up my focus. I’m thinking I might put it off a bit longer. I don’t want to regret it but I’m really content at the moment.

Nmmck93 · 09/03/2024 13:50

Ladies, line eyes needs please.
swore I seen shadows all week, blamed it on line eyes, today there is colour. Second morning wee, woke up at 8:30 for a wee then went back to sleep and woke up didn’t wee or drink anything and tested about half and hour ago & this showed up.
LH is reading at 74 also. I’m 13dpo.

Nmmck93 · 09/03/2024 14:24

@hopingforapeainapod congratulations lovely! Like everyone else I’ve took a break from Mumsnet but so glad we have a BFP on this thread! Hope you’re keeping well xx

hopingforapeainapod · 10/03/2024 11:56

@Nmmck93 thank you so much! I’m about 7 weeks along now - had a scan on Thursday and everything was looking good and in the right place, and I even managed to see a little heartbeat 🥺 hope all is well with you - did you take another test??

Nmmck93 · 10/03/2024 12:35

@hopingforapeainapod omg that's amazing! Over the moon for you!

Yeah tested yesterday evening and this morning, all tests negative. 14dpo so awaiting AF tomorrow.

Any tips on what to try to get a BFP? xx

hopingforapeainapod · 10/03/2024 17:20

@Nmmck93 ah I’m really sorry… waiting for AF to arrive is the worst. How long have you been trying? My advice would be to advocate for yourself as much as possible. We had been ttc for 15 months and I had pushed for all the tests and everything came back ‘normal’ so we were put in the unexplained category and was just told to keep trying until we felt ready for IVF, which I felt was like such an enormous jump. Anyway I had always suspected my problem might be progesterone as I always had spotting for like up to 7+ days before my period and my day 21 progesterone was always very borderline, so I got a second opinion and went to see a different doctor and she prescribed me progesterone from 1DPO and boom, my first ever bfp in over 15 months. So basically I don’t know your situation or how long you have been trying but I would never settle for unexplained as a diagnosis!

Nmmck93 · 10/03/2024 20:25

@hopingforapeainapod I swore I replied early, phone must not have posted it.
I had 21 day tests done in July/ August of last year due to having pains during my TWW the doctor just wanted to do the test.
Everything was normal and had a sheet with the breakdown of each test. I should probably check the progesterone levels and see, what is a good result for that?
Myself and my OH are going to go in May for tests. Once he gets his SA I'll then take his results to my doctors and get my tests done again.
I had to surgeries 10 & 11 yesterday ago for endo but haven't had flare ups etc since but I would love to just get the line of my womb checked again just to rile that out but suppose the doctor will go through everything with us in May.

Also, going into Month 11 (we had a 2month break but would be 13 if we didnt)

Nmmck93 · 10/03/2024 20:39

ATM I am getting some cramping for the past few hours, I never get this before AF and only cramp on my first full flow of AF. Think my body is just playing serious tricks in me. Holding on to my last bit of hope that AF isn’t going to show.

Bluebell0921 · 01/04/2024 19:35

Hi everyone! How are you? Any news?

I was TTC for around 6 months and then got fed up and stressed with my old job so decided to go for something new and pause TTC. Absolutely loving the new job, it was totally the right decision. I had decided that I’d put off TTC until the New Year so that if I did fall pregnant I would’ve been at the new job for a decent amount of time. My new job then offered to fund some really exciting training for me that I’ll finish in December. I decided that I’d put off TTC until April so that I’ll definitely finish my training before going on maternity if I fall pregnant.

The interest rates started to drop and so we started thinking about buying our forever home. Now I’m in this total limbo of not knowing what to do. I’m actually really enjoying life and excited about the prospect of finding a home before having a baby but I’m worried it could take ages and I’m not getting any younger (early 30s). HELPPP. Why is it so hard being a woman!?

kalixxx · 02/04/2024 11:02

@hopingforapeainapod I’ve not checked Mumsnet in a while but omg congratulations!!!! So good to finally see another BFP on here, how are you getting on!

@Nmmck93 I got so excited when you posted those test, I’m so sorry it wasn’t your BFP ☹️

I’ve had my bloods done and everything is normal with me, my OH analysis isn’t until mid June, that’s the earliest date they had!!

I’m on CD17 today and we managed to DD on CD12, 13 and 14 so I feel like we’ve given it a better go this month. Life had kinda got in the way the last few months and we weren’t only managing to do it once or twice!

@Bluebell0921 that’s really interesting that you feel like you’ve lost all broodiness, I suppose it’s not a bad thing for now though. I still do really want to fall pregnant but I have definitely chilled out a lot. I don’t fantasise or obsess over it anymore, I think I’ve almost given up 😅

I completely agree it’s so hard being a woman, I hate how there’s this biological clock ticking! I’ve moved roles in my current company but I almost took a job somewhere else and it’s so frustrating that TTC plays such a big part in important life decisions.

How exciting that you’re looking at buying your forever home! It’s great that you’ve got so many other things to focus on!

@Lunamoon23 hey! I can definitely see something!! I’ve read that 11 DPO is most common to start seeing a line so for 10 DPO this looks promising!

Clear blue digital - 11DPO FMU!! So excited!! I haven't told my husband yet, we're off on a cruise in 2 weeks time and it's his birthday the day after we disembark so trying to save it for them!

Bluebell0921 · 10/04/2024 17:54

Congrats @Lunamoon23 that is soooo exciting!! Can’t believe you’re going to keep it a secret for 2 weeks, I’m not sure I’d have the restraint! 😆

@kalixxx sorry for the delay in reply… not on here as much. I think I ultimately want to have a baby as well so it’s more my age that is making me go for it. I reckon if I could stretch out my early 30s a bit longer I’d probably put it off a few years especially if we end up needing medical intervention. I reckon I’ll start trying again in a few months but haven’t 100% decided. Originally I thought April but now I’m thinking I need to be a bit further along with moving. If we don’t find a house in the near future then perhaps we’ll just start trying again.

Lunamoon23 · 10/04/2024 17:58

@Bluebell0921 I don't know how I'm managing it to be honest haha! If we weren't going away I'd of 100% spilled by now. But we've had an awful lot going on currently with work and sick parents and we have a water leak in our home. So, I kind of want to do it when we're away from all the madness with no distractions and when we can just reveal in it and enjoy it... plus we're going away with my mum and step dad, and grandparents. So i hope to make announcement to them too as my mum is going to be over the moon! This will be her first grandchild and she's been dying for this for years! I've just ordered some cute little personalised baby grows. Going to film it all haha!

Bluebell0921 · 10/04/2024 19:13

@Lunamoon23 aww that’s so exciting and lovely. You’ll have to come back and update us on the big reveal! 🤩
