Clomid TTC

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone who is currently TTC with Clomid fancied joining a TTC thread? I've had a look and can't see a recent one.

My husband and I have been trying for approx 2 years. I have PCOS and also had a congenital uterine defect (complete septum) which was operated on and fixed in November 2021.

We paid for a private appointment with a gynaecologist yesterday who prescribed 6 months of Clomid. I'm starting off cycle 1 with 50mg and will have a transvaginal ultrasound around CD 10-14.

My period is due in about 3 weeks but ofc with PCOS this is approximate and it might be early/late. My consultant also prescribed norithesterone to bring on a period if it's delayed. I'm tempted to start it soon so I can get cracking with Clomid - patience isn't my strong point!

Would be great to hear from anyone else in a similar position and hopefully share our BFPs in the coming months. TTC can be a lonely time and I've decided to not tell my family/friends about Clomid as it upsets me too much when I have to tell them I'm still not pregnant.

I'm the complete opposite. Ovulation sticks are pointless to me as I always have 2 lines show no matter what stage in my cycle it is as my LH is constantly high all the time. Would be impossible to know if or when I ovulated .

But the way when you guys say Dr.fertility ..who are you referring to ? Have you been sent to see an actually fertility specialist on nhs or just a gynaecologist like me

So these are my ovulation results for this cycle so far (was expecting ovulation any time from a few days ago until early next week). Do you find yours go up and down like this?

@MK85 I am being seen by a fertility consultant, as my local hospital has a satellite fertility clinic from a larger city hospital based there. I am able to call and speak to specialist fertility nurses whenever I have any questions and if they can’t help, they pass it on to the consultant.

Jadeybabes86 · 18/08/2022 18:00

@MK85 my gynaecologist runs a fertility clinic twice a month so he’s a bit of both which is good for me I guess, the ovulation sticks I was using say that your line has to be as dark or darker than the indication line as there’s always two lines anyway so just make sure you’re using them correctly

they just don’t work for me ☹️

MK85 · 18/08/2022 23:36

@Ldougal92 I used pre mom too with the easy@home sticks and it always said low but yeah the numbers kept fluctuating up and down like that all cycle and so did my line intensity.
I don't know how reliable the prediction is . I tested it a few times and found that if I uploaded my stick and got the reading, deleted it and added it again it would give two completely different readings

KittyWitty · 19/08/2022 07:29

I cannot believe my eyes! My cat woke me up at 5.45 this morning and I felt so sick - so I did an Easy test, instantly assumed it was negative and played on my phone for a bit - looked over and there were two lines! Woke hubby up whilst in tears and asked him to take me to Asda so I could get some Clearblue. I am just praying that this baby sticks!

Now how on Earth do I keep this a secret? I want to scream from the rooftops about how amazing clomid is!!!

KittyWitty · 19/08/2022 12:49

@Jadeybabes86 definitely a Spain baby! Hubby wants to name them something Spanish 🇪🇸

Astrobabe · 19/08/2022 14:01

@KittyWitty wow congrats 😁
Think I'll take myself of to Spain in hope of a miracle 😆
Didn't you say it was your first clomid cycle ? That's amazing.
What cycle day did you start clomid?
I remember you saying you went on a bit of a health kick, since you were so successful first try maybe you could share some advice to us other ladies , do you think anything may have helped and what supplements have you been taking?
Maybe the cat woke you as it had an inkling that you were pregnant. They do say they are psychic

Astrobabe · 19/08/2022 14:15

I'm due to start clomid ( Waiting for AF to show up )
I'm just trying to gather up as much info as I can.
Thank goodness for these forums that you can meet people going through the same thing.
Were TTC for 10 years ! I'm 37 ( yikes) and I have pcos,
I only have a period every 60-90days give or take a little and it confirmed I don't ovulate so I need clomid.
I also have endo too and hubby has a low sperm count 😔 how lucky are we!
I honestly don't even know if clomid is the right treatment plan for us given we both have fertility issues but it's what they seem to be going with 🤞

It was my first Clomid cycle! I started the Clomid on CD3, which was my first day of heavy bleeding. Then we DTD every other day from CD8-20. We used 2g of Pre-Seed every time, then I put a pillow under my hips and led very still for at least an hour (whilst insisting a foot rub helps conception!!!)

For the past year, hubby and I have been to the gym around 3 times a week. Both tried to eat as healthily as possible, we did a bit of calorie counting to start off with and lost excess weight so both our BMI's were in the ideal range.

We're both vegetarian, but I read that eating fish can boost fertility, so for the last two months I have had 2-4 portions a week. I also read that avocados and blueberries are good for conception, so have at least 1 avocado a week and blueberries every day! I have also been taking a vegan Omega 3 supplement and the Holland & Barrett Folic Acid+VitD tablets. No alcohol this cycle and only 1 caffeinated drink a day too.

I also wear a crystal fertility bracelet every day, totally don't believe it boosts fertility - but seeing it every day was my reminder to not give up hope and it's now my reminder to stay positive!

MK85 · 19/08/2022 16:28

@KittyWitty congratulations 🤰❤
That's fantastic. I bet its so surreal looking at those positive tests. It means so much more after a struggle. Fingers crossed, hope everything goes well with your pregnancy. Keep us updated

Jadeybabes86 · 19/08/2022 16:55

@Astrobabe are you sure you’re not me? I’m almost identically except we’ve been trying for 9 years and OH is borderline but no further action was the diagnosis for him!

wishing you all the luck on this journey these feeds help so so much 😊

are you taking anything for the PCOS like inositol or metformin?

KittyWitty · 20/08/2022 06:09

Unfortunately I woke up this morning to heavy bleeding and clots - so I managed to get a very happy 24hours and that was it. Pretty gutted, but at least we know that hopefully with the rest of the clomid we can try again in a few months!

TTCX2 · 20/08/2022 08:02

oh @KittyWitty so sorry to hear that. Have you tested again this morning? Give your GP a wee call, I’ve read on here about lots of women having bleeding early on. Hope you’re ok and sending lots of love!

@KittyWitty sending loads of love and positivity hopefully it’s just something odd happening and not MC ☹️

KittyWitty · 20/08/2022 09:38

I spoke to my fertility clinic and they can’t do anything until 6 weeks. So I have to take a test in two weeks and they will book me in for a scan to confirm. I’m not feeling positive about it, but I know there’s nothing I can do except to be kind to myself ♥️

lucymc11 · 20/08/2022 10:21

So sorry to hear this @KittyWitty, thinking of you 💕

How are you @KittyWitty?

feeling like a miserable so and so tonight as I think AF is starting, this is my first cycle with Chlomid so I know it’s early days but just impatient and makes me anxious for the months ahead.

hope you’re all ok ❤️

Hoping43 · 21/08/2022 21:51

@Jadeybabes86 how are you doing? CD 49 for me but had a scan last week and they said I have ovulated now so giving it a few more days for my period to come but if not I’m going to take the norethisterone. They have agreed to increase my
dose but I feel sceptical about taking it again x
