Clomid TTC

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone who is currently TTC with Clomid fancied joining a TTC thread? I've had a look and can't see a recent one.

My husband and I have been trying for approx 2 years. I have PCOS and also had a congenital uterine defect (complete septum) which was operated on and fixed in November 2021.

We paid for a private appointment with a gynaecologist yesterday who prescribed 6 months of Clomid. I'm starting off cycle 1 with 50mg and will have a transvaginal ultrasound around CD 10-14.

My period is due in about 3 weeks but ofc with PCOS this is approximate and it might be early/late. My consultant also prescribed norithesterone to bring on a period if it's delayed. I'm tempted to start it soon so I can get cracking with Clomid - patience isn't my strong point!

Would be great to hear from anyone else in a similar position and hopefully share our BFPs in the coming months. TTC can be a lonely time and I've decided to not tell my family/friends about Clomid as it upsets me too much when I have to tell them I'm still not pregnant.

@Jadeybabes86 I usually do my opk in the afternoon. I kept reading not to use first morning pee as it said lh surges after you wake so to allow about 4 hours after wakening before doing one or you might miss the peak 🤷‍♀️

Jadeybabes86 · 08/02/2023 13:59

@MK85 thank you, I’ll give it a try, when using the CB digital in the morning it caught it, I’m hoping the cheapies have missed it this cycle or I’ll ovulate late 🤞🏻 otherwise it’ll be another wasted cycle of clomid 😫

how are you doing? xx

Superstorefan123 · 09/02/2023 14:46

Quick question, what CD do people find they typically ovulate with clomid?

I’m on CD12 and must confess a bit disappointed I have no signs of ovulation :( LH super low, no EWCM! Was hoping for a CD14 ovulation but maybe too optimistic!

Superstorefan123 · 09/02/2023 14:47

Just to add I do ovulate normally without clomid (CD16-20 generally) so I guess I was hoping clomid would ‘speed’ things up a bit and I’d ovulate sooner!

why is TTC always about waiting!

MK85 · 09/02/2023 16:20

@Jadeybabes86 I might purchase the clearblue ones aswell to use alongside the cheapie ones if they give me a high reading in future.
I see they do tests identifying 4 or more fertile days or the 2 most fertile days so I'm baffled which to buy

Jadeybabes86 · 09/02/2023 16:29

@MK85 i used the 4 day one and found it to be really good, it’s expensive and really only does one cycle but worth it I think as it detects better than the cheapies and tells you your high and peak days since sperm can live up to 5 days it’s worth knowing isn’t it!

ive asked for a scan because somethings not feeling right for me (we know our bodies) so ill
update you on that one

OPK’s are only just starting to get slightly darker today and it’s literally slightly and I’m CD21 ☹️ I read that the later you ovulate in your cycle the poorer quality the egg is…. Worth thinking about isn’t it when we’ve seen a fair few loses on this thread xx

SusieNI · 09/02/2023 21:00

The last 2 cycles mine have been about day 17? And cycle length about 33 days. My doctor was happy with that

MK85 · 09/02/2023 22:59

@Jadeybabes86 well there's not much hope for my day 33+ egg then .
I've starting taking aspirin after my high reading just incase as I've heard that can help with implantation .
The weird is this.. according to my opks I'd be about 4 dpo and looking back on my strips irl the line is definitely slightly darker..but as I said I had no ewcm at all.. then this evening I noticed my cm starting to get slightly stretchy which was nowhere to be seen during my supposed ovulation .
I'm baffled even more 😆
This cycle continues to surprise me.

Definitely keep us updated
What dose of clomid are you currently on?

Got2besoon · 09/02/2023 23:12

@Superstorefan123 I usually ov anywhere from day 12 to 14 and I ov'ed on day 15/16 with my first Clomid cycle, so it actually delayed things a little for me.

Jadeybabes86 · 10/02/2023 00:10

@MK85 thats a good tip, might have to try that 😊

im on 100mg only ever been on this dose, I’ve got an appointment with the specialist on Wednesday but I’m hoping they can get my scan done before so I can turn up with some results and go from there, otherwise not much point seeing him on Wednesday other than to tell him I’m basically not responding to it and if anything I feel like it’s just giving me some messed up symptoms and pains ☹️

im still hanging onto hope and testing 3 times a day praying this isn’t another wasted cycle seeing as though it’s my 4th 😫

I wouldn’t always go by CM and EWCM as clomid is renowned for making you dry hence people use pre-seed when taking clomid xx

MK85 · 10/02/2023 00:32

@Jadeybabes86 I think the aspirin has been shown to improve blood flow to the uterus hence why it improves implantation rates. Its the 75mg thats advised, once daily. I've also seen alot of people on here recommended it by fertility consultants who've had continuous implantation failure or recurrent miscarriages so it can't hurt to try unless someone has a known bleeding disorder obviously then it wouldn't be advisable to them. I think you take it just from ovulation until you'd get a bfn or af comes.

I'd definitely ask to switch to letrozole if you feel something isnt right. It's strange how you've ovulated on one and not the rest.
I've seen the occasional person taking 150mg of clomid. Strictly only on the advice of their consultant tho.

Jadeybabes86 · 10/02/2023 10:48

@MK85 definitely worth a go!

I was thinking is it even worth upping my dose as it genuinely feels like my body doesn’t even like 100mg it just feels weird and painful on the left hand side as soon as I start a cycle and gets worse the longer not ovulating goes on,

im hoping the scan will find something so I know I’m not crazy as bad as that sounds

14 days since my last pill and no sign of ovulation 😫😫😫

TTCX · 11/02/2023 08:53

I’m 8 days past my last pill, cycle day 14 and really wanted to see a high or a peak today and I haven’t. My last cycle I I got highs then my peak around the time so I’m annoyed I’m not seeing the same again🥲 so frustrating @Jadeybabes86 .. trying to tell myself that I will or have ovulated just missed the peak. I know that it’s easily done and sometimes OPKs just don’t pick it up. I’ve only ever caught my high/peak days once and that was last cycle!

Jadeybabes86 · 11/02/2023 11:30

@TTCX aw no don’t go by the last one as ovulation is due days 5-10 from last pill just keep checking OPK’s how’s the CM? Mine never seems to change xx

TTCX · 11/02/2023 17:50

I just thought it had made be the same as last time, I have had a high reading this afternoon but this evenings one doesn’t seem darker, if anything lighter 🤦🏻‍♀️. I’ve never been great with me EWCM or noticing it, I am a bit crampy and sore boobs though so maybe it’s coming?

How are you getting on? any signs of ovulation?

Jadeybabes86 · 11/02/2023 22:35

Well that’s deffo a positive, nope no signs at all 😫 this will be my last clomid cycle if no ovulation this time cos it’s just not worth it all the weird pains swelling and cramps I get pretty much since July I’ve had them constant other than when on my period which is odd no? 😂 throwing the towel in at 4 cycles and asking for letrozole instead xx

TTCX · 12/02/2023 15:35

Good signs today 🤞💃 .. We DTD yesterday and Thursday. Going to try again today, not sure how many more times to go for it after that?

hoping your appt goes well one Wednesday @Jadeybabes86 . Have you ovulated before on clomid? Sorry if you’ve said this already it’s just a long thread 🫣🫣 I’ve heard good things about letrozole and it being better for PCOS x

Clomid TTC
Jadeybabes86 · 12/02/2023 16:19

@TTCX that’s a great reading!! I’d keep DTD until the OPK goes faint again just to cover all bases 😊

Ive ovulated once on cycle 2 ☹️ 1,3 and it’s seems current cycle (4) have been fails! I don’t see the point in putting myself through it if it’s not working I suspect I am clomid resistant so I’ll suggest letrozole on Wednesday but I don’t want to do anything until I’ve had my scan on 21st this was requested by my doc as urgent on Thursday I’d hate to think how long people are having to wait that aren’t classed as urgent 🙄

TTCX · 12/02/2023 19:03

My husband works nightshift and have had no babysitters for our two year old so it has been a juggle to say the least 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😂😂

its funny how it chooses if and when to work, I had a failed cycle (cycle 2) completely randomly when the first, third and (hopefully) 4th have been ok. I’m glad you’re being fast tracked for your scan, hopefully gives you some answers and then you have a new plan going forward. I’m so ready to put trying to conceive behind us!🙃

Jadeybabes86 · 12/02/2023 22:56

@TTCX oh no hope you manage to squeeze it in somewhere 😬

thank you, yes I find it odd how one cycle on the same dose can work and others fail, I’ll see what dr fertility says on Wednesday and await the scan! I hear you on that one, it’s stressful I wish we’d started trying sooner because I’m 37 now and I feel times running out xx

MK85 · 13/02/2023 13:05

@TTCX good luck hope this cycle is successful.
When we successfully conceived in dec we only did it twice, on the night before my peak and on the actual night of my peak and that had been enough

Well unfortunately AF has arrived this morning :(

TTCX · 20/02/2023 08:16

Hey ladies. How you all doing?

a wee question, can your ovulation peaks be wrong? I got highs/peaks on the 12th/13th February and Premom predicted I ovulated on the 14th. Which only puts me 6dpo but I appreciate that’s just an estimate.. me being me I’ve stupidly started testing too early and this morning I have a faint line on a wondfo 🫣. It’s far too early and it’s probably an evap but just wondering if you can get peak readings after ovulation which would put me a bit further DPO wise?

MK85 · 20/02/2023 10:05

@TTCX I don't think they are 100% reliable since you can miss your actual real peak and some women surge more than once I hear but I've so far been content at their accuracy.
I've heard getting a positive at 6 dpo is unlikely but not impossible.
I definitely see a line , I'd give it a few more days. I think it varies from woman to woman. When I had tested 10dpo the other month it was negative , I got my positive test 14dpo but I see women on here testing earlier. They do say your supposed to wait 2 weeks before testing.
Good luck I hope your line progresses

TTCX · 20/02/2023 13:04

Thanks @MK85 i got ‘high’ readings from CD14-16 getting my peak on CD16 but wondering if in fact I missed it and it happened somewhere in between these days making my ovulation day earlier. But it would only be by a day or two so still mega early. I don’t know why I do this honestly, every bloody cycle I test too early 🫣 only time will tell I suppose. How are you doing?

Jadeybabes86 · 20/02/2023 16:29

@TTCX Oooh exciting I’d be testing like crazy after seeing that 😊

I can’t comment on OPK’s cos I’m useless with them or should I say my body is! Had high days this month and no peak that I know of from the tests but then I heard once you reach your highest then it drops that can count as peak so who knows?

fingers crossed for you 😊
