Clomid TTC

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone who is currently TTC with Clomid fancied joining a TTC thread? I've had a look and can't see a recent one.

My husband and I have been trying for approx 2 years. I have PCOS and also had a congenital uterine defect (complete septum) which was operated on and fixed in November 2021.

We paid for a private appointment with a gynaecologist yesterday who prescribed 6 months of Clomid. I'm starting off cycle 1 with 50mg and will have a transvaginal ultrasound around CD 10-14.

My period is due in about 3 weeks but ofc with PCOS this is approximate and it might be early/late. My consultant also prescribed norithesterone to bring on a period if it's delayed. I'm tempted to start it soon so I can get cracking with Clomid - patience isn't my strong point!

Would be great to hear from anyone else in a similar position and hopefully share our BFPs in the coming months. TTC can be a lonely time and I've decided to not tell my family/friends about Clomid as it upsets me too much when I have to tell them I'm still not pregnant.

@Hoping43 cyle day 45, no period and no pregnancy ☹️

I’m meeting with the specialist on Friday as I’ve had weird vaginal pains and dizziness best part of a month so I’ll see what that brings!

i read that if no period comes on cycle days 27-30 (other than if pregnant) then it hasn’t worked

I would like to carry on do I can give it a good chance but I fear it’s done more bad than good

how are you feeling? x

Hoping43 · 22/08/2022 00:57

@Jadeybabes86 i feel the same. My cycles were 26-34 days without fail before this. And I can take norethisterone hut what if they never go back to normal?! Stressed!! X

MK85 · 22/08/2022 03:34

@KittyWitty I'm sorry to hear this is happening you . Fingers crossed ,
Bleeding isn't uncommon. I've known a few women to have bleeding and everything was perfectly fine with the pregnancy. My best friends sister strangely still had her periods throughout the entire pregnancy and didn't even find out that she expecting until she was 5 months along . Crazy , I know.
If worst comes to worst, don't beat yourself up. You've done the best you could. Try to stay positive throughout this experience and if there's one thing you can take away from this it's knowing that its definitely achievable for you X

lucymc11 · 22/08/2022 19:36

@MK85 have you managed to find a pharmacy that has norethisterone in stock? My period isn't coming, currently on CD 48 which is very unusual for me. Typical as I really just want to start my clomid...

Oh I've actually just managed to buy some from an online pharmacy without a prescription. Dr Fox if anyone needs some!

@lucymc11 I'm still waiting for the gp surgery to send the prescription over to the pharmacy. They didn't send it, presumably lost it and said they would resend it.. Still waiting a week later . I'm going to ring them tomorrow and find out whats going on as they are truly testing my patience. I don't understand how they can lose two prescriptions in a row now. Last month it was the clomid that took 16 days I think it was before they had it ready.
Feeling like I just can't get any luck in this ttc journey. Nothing is ever easy , it's just all so stressful

lucymc11 · 23/08/2022 07:28

@MK85 That's so annoying, how can they lose it twice? I feel exactly the same - nothing seems to be easy and I can feel myself getting more and more disheartened. My husband is the most chilled person ever so he doesn't understand why I get so stressed which makes it worse. 😢

@Jadeybabes86 just got my period on CD50!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 23/08/2022 09:04

Hello all, can I join you? On letrozole not clomid but it's a similar pathway.

My history:
33yrs old, TTC #1 for 2.5 years.
Conceived once in Sept 2020 but fetus died at 11 weeks, MMC at 12 week scan and had ERPC surgery. No cause found (all tests apart from genetics done).
Assessments - AMH, bloods, semen analysis, hycosy, scans X3.
Results - v high AMH, not ovulating alone, tubes are clear, not quite enough cysts to get a PCOS diagnosis, DH semen is great.

Journey with letrozole (since Feb 2022, NHS fertility clinic):
2.5mg didn't work
5mg worked for a single cycle (ovulated) then didn't work
All cycles being monitored by bloods but they won't offer scans
Now waiting out one natural cycle (CD35 and nothing happening) then will start 7.5mg

Also trying to lose a little weight to support fertility, stay in range for IVF

Morning Ladies

I am on cycle day 17 - still no ovulation. What day would you start your provera again knowing you haven't ovulated. Has anyone ovulated past day 17 is probably a better question?

Going to the consultant isn't an option (currently on week 3 of trying to get hold of him for something separate) and do not have any blood tests or scans throughout? Super fustrated with my care so far.

Thank you and hope you all have a lovely Tuesday!

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl Welcome :) I am just on cycle 1 of clomid and no luck as of yet!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 23/08/2022 09:12

@Ldougal92 that is awful care. I was pissed enough that I don't get scans never mind no bloods! The agreement in the fertility service I am under is to take norethisterone from day 40 if no ovulation

Day 40 - jesus that is a LONG time!!!

Honestly I don't know if its just London (postcode lottery) but even my 3 month check up to see what is happening before I am given my last 3 dosages has been scheduled for March next year instead of October!! I will just keep calling for cancellations but is terrible. But not sure who to complain to!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 23/08/2022 09:54

@Ldougal92 our consultant review at 6mo also got cancelled and pushed back 2mo 🙄.

Yeah, I guess the review is particularly important for clomid as you can only have restricted numbers of doses! Letrozole is a bit more open ended

Jadeybabes86 · 23/08/2022 10:38

@Hoping43 wow that’s mental, have you had any pre menstrual warning signs?

my dizziness and vaginal pains are easing now maybe it’s the clomid leaving my body? Did you have any weird symptoms?

are you having another go at the clomid then now you have a bleed? Best of luck if you are 😊🤞🏻

TTCX2 · 23/08/2022 10:59

@Ldougal92 don't lose hope, I took the Chlomid day 2-6 and I had a scan on 8th August which was cycle day 18, they said it looked like I had just ovulated or was just about to- bloods a week later confirmed I had and Ive now got AF (sob) but confirms I did ovulate, just later in my cycle, really sorry you aren’t getting any care throughout your Chlomid journey, you must feel so frustrated!

Hoping43 · 23/08/2022 11:29

@Jadeybabes86 no I didn’t really have anything. Just started with a few cramps last night and then it arrived during the night. I’m on letrozole but yes, increasing my dose this cycle. If it ends up like this again then I think we might just move to IVF. Totally sick of it now. I don’t know how I can have had two and now I can have another 🤯.

what are your plans? Xx

Hoping43 · 23/08/2022 11:30

@Ldougal92 hello, I’ve just finished my first cycle of letrozole. I ovulated around day 35 so the dose didn’t work for me at all. Finally got my period today on day 50 x

Ahhh ok! If you didnt take letrozole would you naturally ovulate? (I don't ovulate at all) x

thank you! thats really reassuring to here that it can happen a little later - thank you :)

Jadeybabes86 · 23/08/2022 11:49

@Hoping43 ive got a meeting with the fertility specialist on Friday re my concerns so I’ll see what he says, I want to continue on but only if it’s safe to do so and I’m not messing myself up more!

what day are you planning on starting the Letrozol? I’m advised cycle day 2

Hoping43 · 23/08/2022 13:44

@Jadeybabes86 yes day 2. Not holding my breath, last month was a total disaster!

let me know how you get on. I get those kind of achy pains. Had them ever since having my first baby around the time of my period. I think it must be hormonal x

Jadeybabes86 · 23/08/2022 14:32

@Hoping43 oh do you, that’s reassuring thank you!

yes I’ll keep you posted, fingers crossed cycle two is the one and cycle one was just getting problems for us 😬🤞🏻

Hoping43 · 23/08/2022 14:43

@Jadeybabes86 yes I asked the GP once and they said hormonal but I had a traumatic birth so assumed that was it but I still get it now, 6 years on x

MK85 · 23/08/2022 15:59

@lucymc11 I was finally able to get provera today.
Not sure if stock is finally trickling back in or weather my pharmacy just had enough stock to last but there's definitely some out there

Hoping43 · 23/08/2022 17:14

@Ldougal92 yes!! Which was even more frustrating. Feel like I’ve just wasted two months and two chances 😭 but I wanted to try it before IVF. Maybe it wasn’t a good decision, who knows. But it didn’t feel like it was going to happen naturally either x
