Clomid TTC

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone who is currently TTC with Clomid fancied joining a TTC thread? I've had a look and can't see a recent one.

My husband and I have been trying for approx 2 years. I have PCOS and also had a congenital uterine defect (complete septum) which was operated on and fixed in November 2021.

We paid for a private appointment with a gynaecologist yesterday who prescribed 6 months of Clomid. I'm starting off cycle 1 with 50mg and will have a transvaginal ultrasound around CD 10-14.

My period is due in about 3 weeks but ofc with PCOS this is approximate and it might be early/late. My consultant also prescribed norithesterone to bring on a period if it's delayed. I'm tempted to start it soon so I can get cracking with Clomid - patience isn't my strong point!

Would be great to hear from anyone else in a similar position and hopefully share our BFPs in the coming months. TTC can be a lonely time and I've decided to not tell my family/friends about Clomid as it upsets me too much when I have to tell them I'm still not pregnant.

@TTCX2 well I’m all out of sorts I’ve ovulated once out of three cycles and that was the 2nd cycle, the last one was a f-up so I’m now waiting for AF after the course of Provera, I’m considering not taking clomid on this bleed as I feel like my head and body have been all over the place but at the same time I know my biological clock is ticking so pod wrong if I should take a break 🤯

I was wondering if provera alone could induce ovulation as I find it strange that cycle 2 I ovulated following on from provera where as cycle 1 and 3 no provera? 🤔

Superstorefan123 · 14/01/2023 19:19

Hi ladies looking for some advice - got my prescription through for clomid and now a bit confused! My doctor has prescribed me 50mg for month one and told me to double the dose month two if I don’t conceive, and go up to 150mg in month 3 (after which point I should give up!) I already ovulate naturally so this feels quite - extreme? Is that standard procedure?

Doctor said clomid could improve the quality of my ovulation even though I do already ovulate (admittedly irregularly) - anyone else told the same?

thanks so much!

@Jadeybabes86 I definitely believe there's something to the provera. Its a miracle pill . Look at me for example. I went from having zero regularity to my periods , no ovulation, took the provera and had induced bleed early november and bam period right on time in december , ovulated and an egg got fertilised that month. No clomid was taken

graceinc22 · 16/01/2023 17:22

Hi everyone. Just waiting for my first letter to come through from the fertility clinic, had a phone call today to check I was eligible for NHS services. On day 50, still no period, the last 4 cycles before this had been 30-38 days 😥

Jadeybabes86 · 16/01/2023 20:29

@MK85 Well I’m on 10 days post provera and still no withdrawal bleed I seriously don’t know what’s gone on with my body, all I can assume is there’s a blockage somewhere! I’m so ready to bleed I have cramps I have sore boobs and nipples just no flow at the min 🤯 I don’t think my body agrees with clomid so I’m going to ask to change to Letrozole on my feb appointment 🤞🏻☹️ hope you’re ok lovely keeping positive xx

MK85 · 17/01/2023 15:22

Those of you who log your opks, do you log them immediately upon taking them ? I'm using premom. I bled from 4th jan up until sunday 😴 had a little bleeding yesterday again but🤞 im hoping its finally stopped now. As I waited until it stopped i only started tracking this cycle on sunday which was cycle day 13 . Ive logged the past 3 days immediately after a result showed on test. Today I noticed I'm going down , not up. I've went from 0.4, 0.4 and today down to 0.3. Has anyone else had this during their cycle ?
After 10 mins the line on test has naturally darkened, and out of curiosity I checked that reading and it would have been 0.50 but I'm unsure to trust that reading since It would have been 10 mins after taking. Would that reading be reliable.
Basically what I'm wondering is , is it best to go with the immediate result after a moment or give it few more mins to establish a proper reading. I'm just confused why it's going down

Superstorefan123 · 17/01/2023 18:52

@MK85 I log on Premom and have had murders this cycle! I got a high on CD16 but then remained high for like 5 days (as in 0.4/0.5 high - not proper high just higher than normal post ovulation, when I normally drop to about 0.2) BUT I did keep forgetting to take a photo until like 15 minutes so I suspect the tests naturally darkened more than they should.

I think taking the photo 5-7 minutes after is best and most accurate in my experience. Good luck!

SusieNI · 17/01/2023 22:17

Hey @MK85 I usually check after 5 minutes too and would def scan it in into the app within 10 minutes or so??

I'm calendar day 24 ish so playing the waiting game!

TTCX2 · 18/01/2023 16:11

Stupid question here ladies, I’m on day 4 of 7 of Provera and I feel like I’m brewing a period already. I don’t think it’s likely, but if I was to start before completing the 7 days, should I stop taking the Provera or complete the 7? I hope that makes sense!

SusieNI · 19/01/2023 14:29

Hey @TTCX2 hows u? I dont know how the dosage works but I was only ever given a 5 day course?? And it did the trick??

Nearly halfway through my 2ww, not feeling very hopeful at all :( just cant ever imagine seeing a second line

TTCX2 · 19/01/2023 14:49

Hi @SusieNI im good how you doing? Tired of waiting for this cycle to begin. It’s a 7 day course of the Provera, I think they either advise 7 or 10 days!

you never know. I read lots about women get their BFP when they have no symptoms at all! Will be thinking of you!

TTCX2 · 19/01/2023 14:50

5 days would be me today so wonder if I can just stop cause I’m so impatient just want the bleed to start so we can get trying after!

SusieNI · 19/01/2023 15:26

I dont know tbh but just checked out my tablet box and it was 5mg 3 times a day for 5 days?

Clomid TTC
TTCX2 · 19/01/2023 15:41

Ah ok I only take once a day for 7 days. Strange how the guidance is different? It still has worked for me in the past doing it over the 7 🤷🏻‍♀️

MK85 · 23/01/2023 16:21

@Jadeybabes86 I've felt like that on several occasions in the past. All the hallmark symptoms of my period, cramps, pressure, groggy, lumps on chin.. but absolutely no flow , just an invisible period. I don't know if its hormones aren't at adequate levels to signal the shedding or if perhaps theres a blockage from some clotted blood or tissue ¿. I've always forgot to bring it up at appointments to see if they had any idea.
How are you getting on, any sign of af?

MK85 · 23/01/2023 16:25

@TTCX2 I'd probably just take it as advised incase stopping it would delay period even further.

@SusieNI my dose is completely different than both yours. Mine is 2 a day for 10 days.

Jadeybabes86 · 23/01/2023 16:37

@MK85 flow in full swing now 😅 it was almost two weeks after the last Provera, due to start cycle 4 tonight I have everything crossed 🤞🏻 last time and the only time actually I ovulated was on clomid following provera so im
pretty confident I’ll ovulate this cycle let’s just hope everything else lines up! How are you? I can’t believe we started treatment in July and I’m only just starting cycle 4!! xx

TTCX2 · 23/01/2023 17:07

@Jadeybabes86 we are the exact same, first cycle of Chlomid in July and waiting for my period after finishing Provera and ready to start cycle 4 🤞🤞🤞 come on!!! 💃💃💃

Jadeybabes86 · 23/01/2023 17:48

@TTCX2 frustrating isn’t it 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 for us!! Each failed cycle I feel is our chance just dwindling away xxx

MK85 · 23/01/2023 18:07

@Jadeybabes86 glad to year. Good luck for this cycle . 🤞 all goes well

Im currently cycle day 21 and I'm feeling very messed up this cycle. I've only started feeling like I've got my energy back these last few days. I bled for 14 days straight and I think its absolutely drained me. I'm really doubting that I'll be lucky enough to ovulate this cycle as I feel absolutely nothing. Not even the slightest twinge . I think bleeding so long will offset my next cycle again 😔 annoying as I've been very regular these past 3 months 23-32 days

Jadeybabes86 · 23/01/2023 18:27

@MK85 I feel the same like it’s done more bad than good, I ovulated on the 2nd cycle not in 1st or 3rd 🤦🏼‍♀️ but second cycle was following on from Provera I don’t want to have to keep using the Provera though because it’s just more hormones pumped into me 😫🤯

Jadeybabes86 · 25/01/2023 12:01

Some advise if you don’t mind

for those of you who have had or enquired into IVF what are the general costs/procedures? I’m uk based and just weighing up my options if clomid fails

I have a child he’s 11 but my partner and I have been together 9 years and we don’t have a child together he has no children which I find unfair that we have to pay for treatment as I have a child and he doesn’t, it should be person based not couple based don’t you think?

any info would be very much appreciated

thank you 😊

TTCX2 · 27/01/2023 14:48

Hi @Jadeybabes86 sorry I’ve not got alot of knowledge in this area, what part of the UK are you? I’m in complete agreement with you that sounds completely unfair, would you definitely have to fund yourself in your circumstances. Hope you manage to get some info from somebody.

a quick question, were you all quick to get a bleed after Provera? Sure this had been discussed already but I finished my last pill 5 days ago and still waiting. I’m obviously just keen for a new cycle so feels like a lifetime but is this not the norm to wait as long?

Jadeybabes86 · 27/01/2023 14:53

@TTCX2 thank you for your reply, I’m in Lincolnshire, I hope it doesn’t come to needing IVF but I’d just like some background on it in case

when I had Provera on cycle 2 I’d already started spotting but it was like cycle day 50-odd and I’ve done the whole wait for natural bleed before when spotting and it can take weeks and weeks so I took the provera and bled pretty much 4 days after the last tablet BUT the last provera cycle I took there was no spotting or signs of AF at all so I did the 10 days and didn’t bleed until 14 days after the last pill so it can vary person to person and month to month xx

TTCX2 · 27/01/2023 17:05

Yeah I totally get that @Jadeybabes86. It makes sense to prepare for all eventualities doesn’t it. I have a 2 year old so I wouldn’t be eligible either, my body has just gone on strike since having her 🫣. Thanks for letting me know about your Provera experience. When I took it last I hadn’t had a bleed in months and months so i think I literally got my period the day after stopping but this time I’ve obviously had a few bleeds in between so maybe just taking it’s time! So keen to crack on 🫣
