TTC#1 taking longer than expected... support group

Angie2018 · 14/07/2022 09:13

So I thought I'd start a group for anyone like me who just has had a bit of a bumpy ride TTC baby number 1 and is looking for others who understand how that feels and want to hang out until we get our BFPs!

Cycle #7 for us, one chemical pregnancy cycle 5, and wondering if we even have a chance through this heatwave and what it does to sperm 🙈

Looking forward to chatting ❤️‍🩹

I'm on cycle number 7 of TTC#1. I'm 40 though so it's not really taking longer than expected as I don't really expect it to happen at all to be honest. But we're giving it a go just in case.

Hey I am so sorry I missed your initial post!! Don't write it off just yet plenty of women have children in their 40s!! I have everything crossed for you x

@Roro1423 I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with PCOS. Have they put you on medication to induce ovulation? How did you know you weren't actually releasing an egg each month? As to have regular cycles like that is a really good sign x

@Jod30 hey! Tbh that's all I can think about too, it's hard not to let us consume you right? I literally can't think of anything else! Currently in my fertile window now and I'm already down because I think I don't have a chance this month!! I had a chemical too last month. It's really hard, sorry to hear you had one too. They are very common though 😔

Have you read it starts with the egg?

That's helped me, I've changed or should I say added to my supplements & will be giving us another 4 months with a better diet, more supplements etc. x

@Angie2018
Nothing diagnosed yet but my gp suspects PCOS although I did have an ultrasound earlier in the year under my old gp and PCOS was ruled out 🤷‍♀️
It took 7 months go get my first AF after implant removal, then 3 months for the next one. I've never had regular periods, always 8-10 weeks between them, sometimes longer. No periods at all in the 11 years I had my implants.
I didn't give up with opks this time and got my first ever peak last week so my apps say I'm 6dpo.. @Ejk1990 my nipples have been on fire since I got peak!

Roro1423 · 14/07/2022 17:28

@Angie2018 My RE explained that abnormal hormone levels prevent follicles from growing and maturing to release egg cells, when they do release an egg its too small that the sperm misses it. Also that if this immature egg gets fertilised, in my case resulted in a chemical a year ago. I am currently taking metformin 1000g per day and also Litrozole/Femara 5mg from cycle day (2-6) for follicle growth and hyperovulation.

Roro1423 · 14/07/2022 17:37

@Jod30 m sorry to hear about your cp, they say you are more fertile after a loss or CP but in my case it didn't work, hope this is your month 🤞. I will be 9dpo tomorrow and i have a cheapie thats calling my name lol but m really not hopeful this cycle so m trying to hold off until 14dpo.

Angie2018 · 14/07/2022 17:39

@dmb91 oh hopefully you get some answers soon! That will be bad if your old GP ruled out PCOS and you actually do have it as it may have wasted your time. That's amazing you got a peak, are you temping or having blood tests to confirm ovulation at all?

OP posts:
Angie2018 · 14/07/2022 17:40

@Roro1423 oh wow I didn't know that! I really hope the medication you are on works asap for you!!

Ah we're going to try SMEP this month although DH doesn't know it yet 😉

We saw a NHS fertility consultant a few weeks ago and they couldn't find anything wrong - had done all sorts of blood tests, SA, transvaginal scan etc. Just said to keep trying until Christmas then if still not pregnant, go straight to IVF x

Angie2018 · 14/07/2022 18:36

@RugbyGirl1 how long have you been TTC for?

Have you read the book called "it starts with the egg"? If not I'd totally recommend!!

Hopefully it happens before Christmas for you.

We will be going for checks in October if we don't fall before then xx

Hi everyone, I'd like to join in this group also as was looking for a group similar to this. I am trying for baby #1. We decided to try May 2021 but we weren't really "trying" in the sense of OPK's etc. we wanted to take the laid back approach, but that didn't work 😂
We then decided to properly try Jan this year. I fell pregnant in February but had a MC at 7 weeks and started properly trying again for past 2 months but nothing yet. I got my AF today after trying SMEP last cycle. We are both 33, although I turn 34 next month. I knew it wouldn't happen straight away but didn't think it would be this difficult.
I'm glad there are others around my age TTC#1 experiencing the same as it makes you feel less alone in this journey. Hope we can all celebrate with BFP's soon 🤞🏼

Angie2018 · 14/07/2022 19:24

Hi @Mulner88 so sorry to hear about your MC that's really sad you went through that. I had a chemical pregnancy cycle 5 & it's really hard. Sorry to hear AF has arrived. We tried SMEP last month and are trying it again this month too. Hoping we all get our BFPs soon!!

@Angie2018 I’ve not read that book yet no, I’ll look into it. Try not to feel down, you still have a chance to conceive this month. I’m glad it’s not my fertile window during this heatwave though. Too hot to be DTD every other day. Sorry to hear you had a chemical last month too.

@Roro1423 thank you and that would be lovely if that’s the case. The only positive if it doesn’t happen this month is that I go on holiday at the end of the moment so will be able to have some drinks.

Roro1423 · 14/07/2022 19:45

@Angie2018 Thank you, m just not hopeful this cycle though as i do not have a lot of symptoms. Your cycles is the same as mine you should be ovulating soon🤞. Keep me posted.

RugbyGirl1 · 14/07/2022 19:46

@Angie2018 lost count tbh.... It's been 19 months but more cycles than that as my cycles are only 26-27 days. Don't bother counting anymore 😂

I've not read it, no, but from what I know about it from on here I do a lot of that anyway - I think! Is it all about the vitamins, not heating / eating food in plastic containers, using natural body washes and shampoos etc? I'm vegan so eat lots of veggies, pulses, and a bit of an environmental geek and try and buy stuff as natural as possible!

pcosandmex · 14/07/2022 20:11

Angie2018 · 14/07/2022 15:54

@pcosandme.x how are you hun? I gave Mumsnet a break as I was struggling. How are you doing? X

Hey! I was wondering how you were, I'm CD8 and got my follicle scan tomorrow🤞🏼 hope you're okay. My username is being weird and not letting me post! Lol might have to change it xx

Angie2018 · 14/07/2022 20:22

@Jod30 thank you! I think because I just feel so disheartened I'm trying to convince myself I'm out before I'm even in 🙈 yeah it's super hot lol, but we have ceiling fans in all our rooms so it's not too bad for us & we mix it up and DTD morning, lunch & night too so it's not too bad. I think next week will be worse 🙈

Angie2018 · 14/07/2022 20:23

@Roro1423 ah what cycle day are you on? Yes I am due to ovulate on Sunday, normally for me it's day 12. Was day 11 last month but think it was early from the chemical the cycle before. Do you temp to confirm ovulation?

Angie2018 · 14/07/2022 20:36

@RugbyGirl1 oh blimey that's one hell of a ride! Do you have any idea why it's taking so long?

Yeah it's a good book, I didn't know about the extra supplements and the plastic containers etc. I've changed all my plastic for glass or steel, stopped eating white rice and white bread and potatoes - I was never eating lots of them but I now rarely have them and replace them with whole grain items, we don't drink or smoke and OH is wearing loose boxers in this heat 🤣

I used to be vegan, I love veggies and pulses and fruit. We eat plenty of berries and grapefruit and oranges.

Lots more fish and eggs and stuff. Stopped eating tuna completely.

There's lots more info on unexplained infertility though and reasons why too. I find it very interesting x

Angie2018 · 14/07/2022 20:38

@pcosandmex hey! Ah nice to hear from you again. I was hoping to hear you had a BFP! Do you have a follicle scan every month? I'm ok thanks, just got to the point where I don't think it's going to happen so kinda cba 🤣 still using OPKs and temping but won't do it next month. Will just go rogue 🤣 xx

OP posts:
Harper02 · 14/07/2022 21:00

@Angie2018 I changed my username from pcosandme.x :) this seems to work ok! Ahh I was hopeful for a bfp for both of us, when did af arrive? Yes I've got a follicle scan each month whilst on clomid🤞🏼 always so nervous! I'm not going to track anything this month🫣👀 scary times lol Xx

Roro1423 · 14/07/2022 21:04

I always ovulate cd12, I've got 26-27 cycle but this cycle i ovulated cd11 i think its because of the medication, I used to temp but now I'm just using OPKs.

Roro1423 · 14/07/2022 21:07

Pregnancy symptoms. I've been trying not to symptom spot this cycle but its hard not to. I'm currently 8dpo and planning to test in 2 days.

Angie2018 · 14/07/2022 21:37

@Harper02 ah glad you've managed to get it working!! I know me too but I just KNEW at 7dpo I was out. I know my body so well and I've been pregnant before so I absolutely know when AF is coming. I kinda had a feeling before that too we hadn't been successful. Has your OH been tested? Ah you know what, I think this is going to be my last month of using OPKs. I may temp for another month or so but I know when I ovulate and o am just confirming what I know really so almost pointless. Xx
