It doesn't matter about which bracket you fit into... you can be trying for your first, or third, have been trying 6 months of 6 years, have PCOS, been on clomid, never been on the pill, IUI, IVF, suffered a lot, or only a little - let's all come together to hope, to dream, to wish and chat with like-minded people.

The only thing I ask... please no gender preference method swapping. Pretty please.

Other than that... let's get going... It's good to talk

hackneybird - I'm also hoping that m/c has boosted potential - and that reduced angst re possible mp reoccurance this time (only lasted 6wks rather than 3 months the autumn before) means that dh going to be more likely to cooperate. There is only so much you can do if only one of you is actively trying.... However, due to past problems, we've left it until now since Oct just to be sure - and also didn't want a July/August baby really.

glastochick · 17/01/2008 10:14

Sorry to hear DS got stuck mistle. Sounds awful. Glad everyone is ok though.

My DH sounds like yours. He will consider a birthing center though. I'm pretty open minded. I know what I want when I have a DC, but will do whatever is best for me and the baby at the end of the day. I understand that sometimes you can't always have the birth that you planned.

I'm also planning to try out hypnobirthing.

My local hospital does not have a birthing pool, and has a very high medical intervention rate (something like nearly 90%). When my niece was born my brother and his girlfriend had a horrific experience and, after going through the birth notes afterwards the common consensus was that the birth did not progress at the speed the hospital though it should and so they intervened. It led them both to say they never want another child . The birthing center I like the look of appeals more to me because it is midwife run and has a very low intervention rate, and they even have provisions for DH to stay overnight in the same room should I need or want an overnight stay after the birth. They really try to make it as comfortable and 'home like' as possible

MrsTittleMouse · 17/01/2008 10:38

I'm at the SIL story too. I always thought that having struggled so hard to conceive DD that I "deserved" an easier pregnancy and delivery! I then thought having had such horrible bad luck with labour and delivery that I was bound to have an easy baby, as no-one's luck could be that bad!

Am currently trying to keep everyone's expectations low for conception of another DB. It's hard when ILs have stumped up a load of cash for fertility treatment. It's really nice of them, but I do wonder if they know exactly how low our chances are of having another.

please could you tell me how to ban myself from looking at the pregnancy threads, i so want to yell at the computer when they're writing about the bumps and babies then i feel really bad and should be happy for them. i found out another friend is pregnant - not sure how it happened we weren't trying - story. AHHHHHHHH. i'm not nuts really

glastochick · 17/01/2008 15:12

aaaw, napa, I look at the pregnany threads too

Obsessed, moi? Nooo. I'm just popping on to learn about what I will be going through. Honest, it's all educational

viksam · 17/01/2008 17:27

Hi all,
I dont look at the pg threads for fear of becoming so down i wont be able to get up again.
Think im gona order some ov sticks but cant decide wether to go for a bumper load for cheap therefor loosing all hope, or just a few to try therefore retaining some optomism for the future?? Also is it worth going for the digital type, i have heard they arnt up to much, anyone used them?
God Glasto, ur brothers experience sounds horrid, how do you find out about ur local hospitals stats. Can u elect to go to a birthing center instead?
So many people have gone through MC's i am really worried that after all this time i will have to suffer that evil too, i really admire those of you who have come through it, not so sure if i could handle it as well.

Ready · 17/01/2008 17:37

Welcome to the thread Hackneybird (great name )! Sorry to hear of your mc . I hear what you are saying, I foolishly had it in my head that stopping contraception would result in a pregnancy, pah!

Anniemac, welcome aboard. What you said made me smile ? I think that way too sometimes, that the gender preference is just showing off ? and yeah, sour grapes for me too Sorry that your dh is away at the crucial time, but you never know, so jump him on his return

Glastochick, I love the smell of Milton ? have had a few odd looks too, perhaps I need to get some cats to excuse my Milton habit ? your neighbour sounds er, --scary?interesting. Eek.

Broodymumof2, glad you are feeling more positive today, and that your rant helped ? let it all out

MrsTittleMouse, you are clearly feeling the pressure, hope you are finding ways to let off steam and take five minutes not thinking about it. Fingers crossed for you.

Napa and Glastochick you are both banned from looking at the pregnancy threads. If I catch you in there there will be trouble

Big wave to everyone else

viksam · 17/01/2008 18:15

Oh god i just projected forward and worked out that hopefully i will be away on holiday in April on the important days, you know how people say it some times happenes when you go on holiday and u relax, well now i have worked that out there isnt much chance of me being relaxed is there!! How are u Ready?

Ready · 17/01/2008 18:21

Sorry Viksam it too me so long to type my message that I missed yours
I have used OPKs before, but I bought a small amount and ran out before I got the surge, so I would say that maybe go for a bumper pack. Not trying to make you spend your money, but then you won't end up like me, ovulating 2 days after the OPKs ran out

mummy2olivia · 17/01/2008 21:27

ready the spell comes in the form of a lovely letter, some herbs and an angel charm. The instructions are very clear- I did my spell last night. Its worth a go- especially as she donates some of the money to a kidney disease charity.

Hope you are ok- sorry you have been feeling down. Sometimes you need to feel that you are actually 'doing' something and making progress to make it all worth it. It can all get very emotionally tiring and upsetting. I know you had some investigations done- did the results come back ok? I keep comforting myself with the fact that the average couple takes 18 months to get pregnant. That means one couple will get pg in 1 month-another couple will take 3 years. If all your results have come back ok then there is absolutely NO REASON why it cant be you. My acupuncture lady has made me feel very very calm about it all and I can honestly say its made a real difference. DH even asked when I am due on today and he can always tell when it is coming up to that time cos I'm tearful, unhappy, snappy- and this month he hasnt got a clue!! I hope you are feeling a bit more positive anyway- take care hun.

Actually here is something else that made me feel better- A single friend of mine said to me the other day 'at least you have got someone to try with!' How true!!!

rosmerta · 17/01/2008 21:56

Hi, can I join your thread?

Am TTC no 2 though I keep changing my mind as to whether I want another or not. Though that's just because my ds (2 next week) has well & truly entered the tantrum stage! But watching him with other children I think he'd be really good with a little brother or sister!

But anyway, that's probably enough waffling from me

nomoremagnolia · 18/01/2008 12:15

Crikey you lot have been busy!
Hello rosmerta nice to meet you

glastochick · 18/01/2008 13:14

Sorry ladies, work got in the way of MN yesterday so only just read some of the messages.

viksam, I believe hospitals should tell you what percentage of births are medicalised if you ask them. We found out online. We also found the birthing center online having googled birthing centers in our area. Thought we might be outside of the catchment area but phoned them and they said we just have to tell our Doc where we want to go and they will either send a letter to the birthing unit to register us, or we take a letter along. MW appts etc are then dealt with by the birthing center.

Ready, I have managed to avoid even lurking on the pregnancy boards today . Going to try not to hop over there this afternoon

mummy, glad to hear the spell is clear. I bought one yesterday and she got in contact really quickly asking for information. She said she would cast the spell last night and then get in contact again. Haven't heard from her yet but I'm sure I will do. Feels good to be doing something other than BD'ing and hoping for the best. I hope the spell works for you

hackneybird · 18/01/2008 14:28

Can someone please tell me a bit more about OPK's and where I can buy a bunch quite cheaply?

I'm going to be reckless and try as soon as I can, even though I only had an MC VERY recently.

Hello Rosmerta. Good luck with the spells for those crazy ladies that have purchased them.

Hi hackney. I bought some OPKs from Ebay. Just type in OPK. The listings are private so no one will know you've bought them. I ordered on a monday and mine arrived on a wednesday. You have to pee into a cup or something and dip the stick in then wait for a while. I was getting negatives and should have really tested yesterday and the night before but didn't [oops]. Will test again tonight.

Am getting twinges now so convincing myself I'm about to, or am, OV . CM spotting hasn't been great - think I've been affected by this cold I've had and being dehydrated. Fingers crossed DH's swimmers from last night were ready!!!

Ready · 19/01/2008 16:42

Mummy2Olivia (thought I better call you by your MN name, otherwise it might confuse), yeah, we had investigations last summer, and the consultant was happy with everything, and just seemed to think it would only be a matter of time ? but since then we have moved away from that area, so need to start the ball rolling again in our new PCT. Keep putting it off Your acupuncture sounds like it is helping balance you. I saw an acu in town the other day, and thought I would give them a look in.

Welcome to the thread Rosmerta

Glastochick, well done on not lurking on the preggers boards. Your time will come Can you pay for the spell by credit card? (safer than debit I think) as I don?t have a paypal account. I am tempted, I have to say Fingers crossed that everything goes well for you in the business phase of your cycle

Hackneybird, I used this site for OPKs, good value for money by all accounts. Hope you find it easy to use

Hiya hanaflower, good luck with ttc, sounds like you are pretty relaxed about it all. Good for you

Hope everyone is just dandy?

OracleInaCoracle · 19/01/2008 16:49

6 early mc's and 1 ep (1 tube gone too)been ttc for 2.5y now. and its not fair

mummy2olivia · 19/01/2008 17:18

Hello again Lissie- hope you well

Hope everyone else is good too. I'm on the 2ww now- or I think I am. I've been so chilled from my accu that I cant pinpoint when I ov'd or even if I have!! And for the first time in about 6 months we have had sex in the 2ww. Not BD. sex. A big step in the relaxed and chilled direction i think. I feel so much happier.

I sound like a hippy!! I think it is so easy to get dragged into the emotion etc that it can all get very upsetting. And that has the opposite effect.

Ready · 19/01/2008 17:21

Lissie, lovely to see you. Although of course I wish you were pregnant and I was too, and we were on a pregnancy thread together How's it going?

Mummy2Olivia, pmsl at you calling yourself a hippy It's great that you are relaxed, hope it proves successful

Shreksmissus, welcome to the thread, what you say about the cycle of waiting for ov, then guessing the symptoms then sobbing is so real for me at the moment. I have been struggling of late. It is hard going. You are in the right place for some pampering
