Hi girls, well first day back is over - what a nightmare! My boss was on my case every five minutes - hardly let me catch up with any work at all. Almost makes me want to sod it and come of the pill now!! Must be sensible and wait though....

Playing - I know what you mean re the job/baby thing. It is really a no go issue isn't it? You can't just mention to your boss, 'oh I'd love to start a family in x months'..... Employers are still, I believe, very anti-maternity leave, but sod them, it is our life and we can do what we jolly well want!

Cosmogirl · 07/01/2008 17:49

I wish I knew what was happening re. other potential job. At least if I knew it was off the table I could start planning and preparing for ttc....grrr, I love to plan. Hopefully will find out soon. Hope everyone is well

Cosmogirl · 07/01/2008 20:02

BB - how'd the job interview go? Do you know when you'll find out?

Playingthewaitinggame · 08/01/2008 11:22

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks like that. I just hate making decisions without knowing all my options. It feels as if you are making the biggest and most life changing decision with only half the facts! The thought of taking such a risk with such an important decision and it all going wrong, scares me stupid. Its one think to end up broke and without a job when its just the two of you, but when you are responisble for another life thats huge.

BroodyBaby · 08/01/2008 11:56

Hi girls!Interview went ok invited for second but not going to go as it seems to be a huge step back compered to what im doing and the work seems mundane,So will jsut keep plodding along here till i go on mat, otherwise id have to build up entitlement elsewhere!

On the note of not knowing all facts, and being scared, im prob the most paranoid person ever, as i was made redundant at 6 wks pg, and the stress caused a mc, so im always worrying about it, but im lucky because dp is very calm, my exact opposite!

Cosmo, any news on when you'll know about your job? I know what you mean about planning, im a def planner, like lists too lol

Cosmogirl · 08/01/2008 18:26

Hello, shame about the job BB, but at least you know where you are with job sitch now. Similar to you (we all have so much in common it's scary!), if I don't get other job will do my best to stick in this one because have worked there a year and don't want to start from scratch somewhere else. I know you can get pregnant pretty much straight away in a job but I would feel a bit guilty doing that. Prob shouldn't feel like that, but still....
So, no idea when I will find out if they are still interested in me. The bloke did say end of Feb originally but that seems ages away!! Won't give them much longer than end Feb tho'. Need to get off pill, start prepping meself!

Cosmogirl · 08/01/2008 18:28

BB, I saw your post re: flying when pregnant. Do you reckon you'll try any earlier than July?

BroodyBaby · 09/01/2008 12:26

hi all

cosmo thanks for your condolences(i cant spell) lol but im taking the ssame view as you, just making the best of things! Hope you hear about yours soon too!

Anyone seen puss lately? saw her post about UIL and hope shes ok?

As for flying, yes DP and i are looking to bring trying date forward, poss to june but dont want to if it'l cause probs at airport, only reasoning being that sooners better than later and despite falling first month first time, we dont know how long it will take, also wanted advice re any extra risks abroad, so gonna post further xx

Playingthewaitinggame · 09/01/2008 13:12

Morning everyone.

BB, I am sure you will be fine to fly, I am sure you can fly through the vast majority of your pregnancy. When I was on Mexcio last September I made friends with a lady who was 14 weeks pg (and had obviously flown from uk which is 10hrs), so you will not have a problem at all. If you are really worried try and use it as an excuse to sit at the front and get extra leg room or maybe upgrade so you have more room to stretch out. However, I think you will be fine.

BroodyBaby · 09/01/2008 16:22

aww thanks playing, how are you anyway? whats everyone been up to? ive got my third driving test on fri lucky me lol

Anyone got plans for the weekend? xx

Playingthewaitinggame · 09/01/2008 16:47

Hi BB,

I am well thanks. Not been up to much, stuck at work with far too much work that I have to keep distracting myself with Mumsnet! Don't know what my colleagues would say if they could see as I don't have kids!!

Good luck with your driving test - you know what they say about 3rd time lucky!

No real plans for the weekend, going to go up to Ikea to get a new mattress probably, I really live on the wild side me!

ForcesSweetheart · 09/01/2008 17:17

Hi everyone,
We're having to wait to resume TTC because I'm having Gastric Bypass surgery 2 weeks from tomorrow.
We have a DD who is 2 this weekend and had hoped to have a narrow age gap, but DH has been away for most of the last year making it next to impossible. When I first asked to be referred for the surgery I thought there would be a wait of 2-3 yrs to get it on the NHS so we'd try to have another baby before my op came around. Was very surprised when the op stuff all happeneed quickly, and 6 months down the line I'm about to have it. For the first 6mths to a year my body will pretty much be in starvation mode, surviving on my fat stores plus the small amount of food I'll be able to digest, so pregnancy isn't really advised too soon after the op. Once the initial weight loss slows down though I should be in a mucch better position to TTC than I am now (although I'll have crossed the dreaded 35 threshold), as my type 2 diabetes should be under control, if not gone.

Cosmogirl · 09/01/2008 19:37

Playing - if you get bored in Ikea, play a little game I like to call count the pregnant women.......they are everywhere in Ikea! Maybe there is something in the water...or the hotdogs!

Forces - welcome to our little waiting area and good luck for your op.

BB - Good luck with the test - I passed 5th time!! Kept buggering up on silly little things. Try to stay calm - easier said than done tho'. Prob being dumb here, but what does UIL stand for? Haven't seen Puss on any other threads....

Cosmogirl · 09/01/2008 19:41

Exciting that you are thinking June time, BB. I am getting so so broody it is nuts. Thinking of quitting the pill mid Feb - I just can't get ttc and babies out of my head no matter how hard I try. Also realising I am really not happy in my job so that is another sign telling me the time is right to go for it soon. Will be third wedding anniversary in April, so maybe a good month to try. Plus, you just don't know how long it will take. I'm assuming it will happen right away but that is a bit ambitious - guess it could take months and months........

Cosmogirl · 09/01/2008 19:49

Just looked at your profile Forces - your little girl is so cute!

MsSparkle · 09/01/2008 19:52

Cosmogirl, if your on the pill i recomend you come off the pill a few months before you ttc. It's because your body gets so confused after coming off of it and when i came off the pill i got my period 39 days after the first day of my last bleed. I went crazy doing test after test thinking i was late because i was pregnant when really it was my body getting used to being off the pill.

Cosmogirl · 09/01/2008 20:07

Thanks for the advice MsSparkle. I've been on it for 8 and a bit years without a break too, so expect it will take a while to get back to normal. DH is a bit scared of me coming off it- thinks I might go loopy! Supportive

BroodyBaby · 09/01/2008 20:35

hi all gettin withdrawal symptoms so have come on mn on on phone!how odd i am, welcome forces sweetheart and mcsparkle nice to have more join our little group! Cosmo uil means uncle in law,and puss was stressed about invitin him to the wedding, glad your thinkin of ttc sooner,i would be if it weren't for the hol! As for the pill,i came off and fell in the first month so i think it depends on each individual, my weekend's not exciting either, nothing planned! Livin dangerously eh? Lol x

Playingthewaitinggame · 10/01/2008 13:39

Hi Ladies,

Welcome to our 2 new posters, the more the merrier.

Good luck with the surgery Forces, I think it is a great plan to wait till after, will get you in better shape to conceive and then run round after 2 kids!

How exciting that both Cosmos and BB are thinking about ttc earlier!!! No, mustn't be envious, waiting for good reasons. Will be my time too before I know it and am really happy for you both.

Discussed all you guys here with DH last night and he thought it was a great idea to talk to people in similar situations and get as prepared as we can for ttc. Thought he would think I was nuts, but actually confessed to looking stuff up himself on the internet! Knew he wanted kids but didn't realise he was as broody as me (didn't think that was possible!). Turns out he just didn't want to keep bringing it up cos he though it would be hard for me to keep talking about, as we can't have them right yet. Told him I want to keep talking about it as it makes it feel more real, as if it will happen, if not yet, then soon (ish).

Anyhow, long post again (sorry) had better get back to work.

Cosmogirl · 10/01/2008 19:01

Hello,

I have decided I am going to stop the pill after this pack!! Ekkk. That means about five or so pills left. I have been thinking that it will be good to regulate my cycle before ttc. For some people it takes ages to go back to pre-pill state. Only thing is will have to go back to condoms which is a pain, but hardly the end of the world. So yeah, just thought I'd share! Bit worried about side-effects of coming off it - mood swings, weight gain?? Not sure what to expect, but hoping it will be a good thing.

Playing - that is lovely that your DH is broody too. Mine is getting there but doesn't show his broody side that often. Think it will take a BFP to really make him realise he'll be a great Dad.

BB - MN is fairly addictive, as is facebook. But I am much better this year and spending less time on them.

BroodyBaby · 11/01/2008 08:22

Hi all

Cosmo what fab news!! i know it seems scary but i bet it'l be lovely!!

Playing how nice for your that DH is getting excited too, thats really sweet, My DP has flashes, sometimes its almost like he forgets himself but i think like cosmo's DH he'l be more aggreeable when we actually ttc lol

I havent got a facebook yet but i have a myspace n that was addictive lol Oh and cosmo when i came off the pill i became so different but in a good way, I wasnt paranoid or moody not that i though i was before lol but DP did!

Forces i think your LO is lovely, and i love her name, sad as it is DP and i have already discussed names and lola is one of ours!small world eh?

MCsparkle good luck for op, im sure it'l be fine and im sure you'l feel better for it, id like it done myself but dnt think id be a candidate.

Sorry for the long post, wont be able to get backon MN till Mon!! ill have withdrawal symptoms!

thought i'd pop my email address on here just incase anyone wanted to exvchange emails.. [email protected] hope you all have a nice weekend xxx

Playingthewaitinggame · 11/01/2008 10:51

Just quickly popping on to wish everyone a good weekend (should be working really) but yes, Mumsnet is addictive!

Cosmos, good luck with coming off the pill! I'm not on it at the mo (haven't been for about 2 years actually). Have very irregular AF anyhow (which I know will make ttc harder) so don't want to mess around more with my hormones than I have too. AF is gradually getting a little more regular (or is that wishful thinking, need to monitor it more carefully), I had 3 years off work in my early 20's due to ill health and my AF stopped completely for about 20 months. Doctor says completely normal for that to happen when you have bad health and that it could take years for it to fully come back (or may not). So just grateful that I have it now most months and have resolved to keep a much closer watch of it this year. Even so, might never know exactly when I ovulate or am due but I figure as long as I don't expect to get pg straight away and when I start trying I opt for the BD every other day option, pretty much through the entire cycle, I am sure it will happen in the end, even if it takes a while. Part of the reason I am aware I shouldn't leave ttc too long is because it may take a while. Need to try and stay pretty relaxed about it though and hopefully I should get there in the end, I know for a fact stress mucks up my cycle. If not, will have to go back to GP and investigate options but its far too early to worry about that yet.

BB - Will send you an email so you have my address if you want it. Sorry, but I am not about to post my email on the board, never know who could be lurking!!!

NatalieJane · 11/01/2008 10:57

Hello everyone, mind if I join in?

I have just had a miscarriage, so can't start TTC for a little while, and still got to convince DH that TTC is what we are going to be doing! But I will

I have two DS's, one is coming up to 6yo and one of 13 months.

Anyway just wanted to say hi!

Playingthewaitinggame · 11/01/2008 11:58

Natalie - Of course you can join! Welcome.

Sorry to heard about your MC. Maybe some time out of ttc will help you both come to terms a little better with whats happened? Not an expert at all though. More than welcome to bide your time here with us who all understand how frustrating it is to wait whatever the reason!

Anyway, must get back to work, promised myself I wasn't going to look again till lunch time!!

NatalieJane · 11/01/2008 12:06

Thanks PTWG We weren't really TTC when I got pregnant, but then we weren't being especially careful either (obviously!!) but losing this baby has just reinforced how much I want another. DH just doesn't realise it yet!!

It is nearly lunch time
