Come in, take your heels off and get cosy!

That took me ages!!
What a lot has happened, not sure I can remember it all.

Thank you for your thoughts yesterday and for asking after me today. The funeral went really well. I had a good old cry on Sunday evening when we had the service to bring the body into the church (it's those damn hymns, they set me off every time!!) but then surprised my self by being ok with it all on Monday.
DD was on such fantastic form and all the relatives loved seeing her and she behaved remarkably well in the church, which really helped. She helped more than me too, family in the pew behind were happy to have her to watch too.
We had two late nights of music playing and singing, which my Granddad would have just loved, so I think we sent him off in just the way he would have wanted.

On the TTC front. I couldn't wait when I got home and did a HPT,...BFN 10dpo and I am normally 11 days LP, so am now expecting AF a day.

Sooooo pleased for you DG can't believe that mrsei predicted it and am now holding my breath for you mibbes!!!

Poor you bucky and MTW and you are all right about the TTC train. I can't get off either. Take a break, um how?
Was thinking about how to explain it to my sister and the only way I could think on was as if she was trying to pass her driving test. You know your chances are slim first time round but you really hope you pass. Second time out you think defo this time and before you know it you are 'obsessed'. You really want it and you know if you only relax you will pass but how do you relax when you want it so bad and really it is such a simple thing to do.
Does that make sense. I haven't said it to her, she seemed much more receptive about it today, travelling home in the car, she was full of questions. But then we had a clash about something else so that was that.

Anyway, sorry rambling again

Hello to new people, this is such a lovely thread, see how they care.

07mumstheword · 15/01/2008 22:05

Twinkling I'm so pleased it went well and good for your DD how proud you must have been of her. Good analogy re TTC & Driving Tests!

MrsEi25 · 15/01/2008 22:13

twinklingfairy am glad the funeral went well for you sorry about the BFN hun xx ei xx

07mumstheword · 15/01/2008 22:15

TF How bloody insensitive of me! Sorry you got BFN

ScaryHairy · 15/01/2008 22:30

Twinkling glad the funeral was ok, and that you gave your Grandad a suitable send-off.

I know what you mean about ttc. One of my friends told me that she and her husband just had sex every few days for a few months and it happened. She was expecting it to take a year or more so was really pleased. She claims that she never even did a HPT until she was late. How the heck does that work? Even if I pretend to be relaxed about it all, from the moment DH and I agree to give it a go I am secretly working out when I am likely to ovulate and then counting the days of the two week wait. It is really hard to take a proper break so I think the only thing to do is to try to do relaxing things and to go easy on yourself. Either that or book a "learn to sky dive course" for a few months hence... sod's law you will get a BFP and have to cancel!

Love the idea of the bingo MrsEi.

MrsEi25 · 15/01/2008 22:50

i suggest moving house as a good way to take your mind off TTC!! that was my best method of gettin preg!! as soon as we moved in i realised i was a few days late an i had DD 36+4 weeks later our house is on the market so im hoping it works twice in a row!!
xx ei xx

twinklingfairy · 15/01/2008 22:57

Oh, don't worry MTW in amongst my ramble it was prob easy to miss

glastochick · 16/01/2008 09:34

twinklingfairy glad to hear the funeral went well. Your DD sounds like a little star. Bless.

Great analogy about the driving tests. I promised myself we would just see what happens and not get obsessed. Who was I kidding? Only on cycle 4 and I get more obsessed as the days pass! I stupidly believed I'd come off the pill, leave it a month for a proper cycle, then fall pregnant straight away and we'd be planning for an August baby

JollyBear · 16/01/2008 09:44

Morning all,

Mibbes, oops nearly called you mibbles again there, so sorry about the BFN. I'm in a similar position really still no AF and BFN. I did hope for a while I might be one of those ladies who takes ages to show + even when they are pregnant (really hope you are one of those!!).

I feel much better now I've decided to temp and use OPKs on my next cycle, deciding to do something proactive has helped me somehow, you could think about trying that mibbes. DG advised me yesterday to start temping now as this can help predict the high range I'll be looking for next cycle (THANKS DG I did it this morning - 36.17!)

shreksmissus hope you have a productive 2ww!! Do pop in with any symptoms

TF glad everything went OK - sorry about the BFN

Bucky great to see you back!

A big hello to everyone else!! The driving test analogy is a good one, although I was very poor at learning to drive. Anyone else fail for a dangerous fault?!! FYI: I knew I had time to overtake the bus before the oncoming car!! I only passed third time. I hope I'm better at TTC!

I'm in the office today and my computer is so old I swear it creaks when it is thinking!

hattyyellow · 16/01/2008 09:53

BFN for me this morning

Gutted.

Was so so so secretly convinced it had worked this month. No feeling of AF coming. Have been in bed by 9pm every night shattered, eating like a ravenous bear and getting headaches all the time, like last time I got pg.

I'll probably find I'm coming down with some horrible bug and that explains the symptoms

Finding it much harder than previous months to pick myself up. DH being very positive but feeling all doom and gloom. Was so convinced after seeing EWCM the last few months that we were doing it at right time. Don't know whether to start forking out more money on a Persona etc...

Anyway, enough me, me, me...I can't complain when I've only been trying for 4 months and have already been blessed with children.

Twinking glad the funeral went well and you are okay..

Bucky so sorry to hear EW got you...glad to see you back...

DG loving the digibean!

Jollybear and mibbes sorry to see BFN's for you too...holding out some hope we all get late showing BFP's somehow!

Mrsei seriously considering moving house based on your advice!

Waving to mums, shrek and anyone else I have missed.

Off to sulk somewhere

xx

hattyyellow · 16/01/2008 09:54

ps twinkling i know what you mean about the hymns..they played "abide with me" at my dad's and grandparents funerals and it always makes me blub if I hear it now!

JollyBear · 16/01/2008 10:02

Sorry about your BFN hattyyellow it is crap isn't it Sorry you feel so down today. We haven't told anyone we're TTC because I think it would add to the pressure somehow. I don't know if you have told people hattyyellow but I certainly find it hard to feel down and not be able to share the reason why IYSWIM. I suppose that is what we have MN for!

mibbes · 16/01/2008 10:39

Mrsei hope the house move works !
Twinkling sorry for BFN but hope you tested too early
HattyYellow so sorry for BFN - I know how you feel as I was also convinced had hit the jackpot this cycle - was gutted last night
Jollybear sorry about BFN and thanks for your kind words. I had already decided to chart temps from next cycle so have thermometer at the ready
I have been practising for the past week and temps have been between 36.6 and 37.1 so they seem like post-ov temps...? But then it is very difficult to tell when I hadn't been charting in the early part of my cycle - I guess all women have varying temps and maybe these are my low ones...? Any charters out there able to advise ?
Dp was lovely last night - when I got BFN on CB (with no control line) he took us straight to Boots to get another - bought CBDs but I knew deep down that I would just get another BFN so just used a cheapie I had. After 2nd BFN he brought me Magners and chocolate...what a darling !
Anyway, am obviously holding out a small amount of hope while no AF and temps seem high - as far as being one of those people who take ages to register a BFP - I'd have to be very slow as on CD38 whihc makes me 7-3 days late.
It would seem there are a lot of AWOL AFs this month - what is all that about ?

hattyyellow · 16/01/2008 10:44

Cheers JB and Mibbes...

Tell you what, see that pile of coats in the corner of the 2WW waiting room?

Let's all hide under there and then the evil witch won't find us!

Quick, let's scarper...sssssshhhhh...

mibbes · 16/01/2008 10:55

hattyyellow great plan ! Anything to hang on to hope a little while longer, although if definitely not PG then I suppose best she just gets on with it so we can start over.. my thermometer is on stand-by for my first fully-charted cycle

JollyBear · 16/01/2008 11:07

Ahhh mibbles your DP is lovely

hattyyellow I'd love to hide but as mibbes says, if she's coming to get me then I'd like her to get a move on!

mibbes have you joined fertilty friend to chart your temps? I'm not sure if I should join at the end of a cycle or wait for a new one. We should be honorary cycle buddies this month whenever our AFs arrive as it will be our first cycle of temping! Anyone else out there temping for the first time?!

This computer is a nightmare! I saved a document before and I could hear loud clicking and clunking. It is like trying to work on a commadore (sp?)64!

mibbes · 16/01/2008 11:44

Jollybear would love to be honorary cycle buddies
I have signed up for FF and got 20 emails of which I have only read 2... I do plan to read them soon though so that can chart temps properly next cycle - I just want to know what on earth is going on in there - esp after this cycle..
Get signed up soon as they send 1 email each day so takes 20 days - maybe they let you chart before you have them all though ! Do any of the FF ladies know ?

digitalgirl · 16/01/2008 12:41

mibbes & jb I didn't bother with the course (had already read TCOYF so knew the 'rules') I just signed up and started charting. Also you can start inputting temps whenever you like.

hatty & fairy sorry for the bfns

and fairy sounds like you gave your dear grandfather a good send off.

bucky glad you've not disappeared. please don't! I've got a boots thermometer if anyone wants it. I bought it when I thought the thermometer I was already using wasn't working. Turned out it was me that wasn't working (anov cycle). So I stuck with the same one and now I've got a spare one from boots...

I'm continuing to take my temps for a couple more weeks as a temp drop will indicate an MC is about to happen. I find it reassuring to know first thing in the morning that it's still high and little digibean is still sending messages to my ovary to keep producing progesterone to keep my bbt high.

madoldbird · 16/01/2008 12:55

Good morning everyone (or is it afternoon now?)

twinklingfairy lovely to see you back. It sounds like your grandad had a wonderful send off. I'm glad it went well for you all. about BFN.

scaryhairy what's that about your friend only doing HPT's when late?? We all know that's not normal, sane behaviour. Amazing what goes on behind closed doors - people actually waiting 'till they test. Shocking.

shreksmissus good to see you. How do you mange to stay up so late? Were you working? I'm normally half asleep by 10ish.You sound a bit perkier - hope you are. Hope the 2ww goes quick for you.

glastochick I know what you mean about thinking it would all happen pretty quick - i read all that stuff about being very fertile when coming off the pill - thought well, a month or two, that'll do it... and here i am a permenantly obsessed, hormonal wreck!!!

jollybear mibbes hattyyellow Can you hear me under that pile of coats?? Hope you all get your visits from the EW ( or preferably BFP's) soon. That sort of limbo situation is horrible.

Hello to everyone else.

Well i got my smiley face just now, so it's that crucial time! Haven't actually done any DBing for a few days, so i suppose we'd better get on with it. I'm going to carry on testing as last cycle i got them for three days, so i want to make sure we don't miss the actual ov day. I think i'm getting so caught up in eating the right stuff, taking supplements, exercising, reading books on the subject, doing OPK tests etc that i seem to be forgetting that it's actually necessary to have sex!!!

On another note, i have today developed an irrational hatred of melons. Three times now i have bought one, put it in the fruit bowl for it to ripen, kept checking it, then suddenly, overnight, they go wrinkled and rotten. When are you supposed to eat them? Fruit of the devil. Definitely.

madoldbird · 16/01/2008 12:57

Hello DG&digibean!! Look at you in your cap and gown looking all graduate-like!

mibbes · 16/01/2008 13:00

Thanks DG will get on the case tonight. It feels good to have something practical to do .
MOB get bd'ing missus. Can't help with your melons though, sorry !

07mumstheword · 16/01/2008 13:38

Hello all

Hatty So sorry for BFN It does get harder to pick yourself up but remember it will be no time at all before action stations again.

Mibbes Your DH sounds very thoughtful.

MOB pmsl at all the preperation but almost forgetting the bd'ing! Get to it girl

JollyBear · 16/01/2008 14:07

Thanks DG I'll get signed up for FF later on so I can get temping like my honorary cycle buddy mibbes

Any symptoms yet DG?

MOB Put down that book and get bd'ing!!

GryffinGirl · 16/01/2008 14:48

I am getting tired of this. If nothing y the end of this month I am back to the doctor again and DH is off to take up his referral.
