Come in, take your heels off and get cosy!

if it helps Mibbes here are my last two charts

the latest one looks like there's a sustained temperature rise but I'll have to wait and see how my temps do over the next few days as FF has only just changed my Ov day today.

the cycle before was all over the place with no clear temperature rise, even though FF thought there was, hence me thinking it could have been anovulatory as you don't get a luteal phase of more than 16 days without a CP or an ovarian cyst. also I had patches of EWCM which also indicates it was anovulatory.

Thanks Mibbles and DG - It is technically possible I've tested too early - my cycle is usually 30days, last month was 28 so I tested today (28)... but as it was a first response test I'm not getting my hopes up at all!

I've still (TMI alert!) got lots of CM before I felt a little gush and thought 'oh af's arrived' but it was just CM. It isn't EWCM so I presume I'm not having an odd late ovulation. I want to know when I ovulate so....

I'm going shopping online for OPKs for my next cycle now! Any recommendations anyone?

mibbes · 08/01/2008 14:07

JollyBear sounds like you may have tested too early - I've heard that First Response are not
necessarily any better than others (CB for example also say they have a certain degree of success detecting pregnancy hormones up to 4 days prior to af).
The CM sounds promising as this is supposed to be a sign...
As for opks - all I can say is they didn't work for me but that may be because I don't ovulate in which case they did work ! Time will tell. There seems to be some debate as to whether FMU is ok with opks - I tried to use them late afternoon and tried not to pee for 4 hours prior - I used CB ones. CB opks advise that FMU is fine and this is often the most convenient time to test - have a look through MN threads I'm sure you'll find loads of helpful info
Anyway, you may not need them - fingers crossed !

mibbes · 08/01/2008 14:13

dg I had also read similar info about underactive thyroid - one of the symptoms is weight gain which is not generally an issue for me but it'd be great to have a genuine excuse for the post-xmas pounds Not that the condition would be great as it messes with ttc .
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, at least when I go to see GP I'll hopefully be armed with useful info about temps .

hattyyellow · 08/01/2008 14:19

day 20...this is a hard 2ww this month...am drumming fingers and chewing nails and finding it hard not to think "Am I, aren't I?"...my work success goes up so much on the months when I don't waste two weeks wondering if I'm pregnant...

Who else is in 2ww? Sooooo bored of waiting...

HattyYellow (aka cbcb )

JollyBear · 08/01/2008 14:50

Mibbles thanks for the info, I'll stay clear of first response in the future then! I'll have a go with OPKs next cycle (of course I'm still holding out a tiny bit of hope that I've tested too early!) and if I don't have any luck with those, I'll try temping. Hope your GP is helpful when you visit.

Hattyyellow You are not alone!

hattyyellow · 08/01/2008 14:58

What day are you on Jolly? Not been on for ages and the thread moves so fast...

Have had upset tummy (tmi) - DH has convinced himself because of this that I am pregnant..so is not helping my crusade to not get my hopes up until I've tested!

witchandchips · 08/01/2008 15:09

due today, no af + have not had such big norks since i was breasfeeding. lower back pain as well though so probably is just too many mince pies

JollyBear · 08/01/2008 15:38

Hattyyellow I'm on CD 28 but last few cycles have been 28, 30, 40, 34, 31, 31 in reverse order - irregular to say the least. Hope the upset tummy is a symptom for you

witchandchips Sounds promising! Are you going to test?

witchandchips · 08/01/2008 15:40

no not testing today as wasted too much money on tests in the last year!. will hold on for a day or so more. this way i also get nice feeling that i could be pregnant for longer

07mumstheword · 08/01/2008 16:14

Jollybear Sorry you got a BFN.

Hatty I'm so with you on the bored of waiting front, so bored in fact I tested this morning at CD24 - BFN!

My cycles have been 25-27 days the last few months and I'm sure AF is one her way. You probably think I'm mad for not waiting until I'm actually late before testing but having had 2 chemical pergnancies I need to know so I can go back to Doc.

Can I ask your advice/opinions on the following please:

I'm heading into cycle 10 and had the coil removed last May. Do you think it's too soon to go to the doctors to ask for some simple test? I'm sure they'd say I have to wait 12 months and having got PG twice but them not being sticky ones there is no problem but thought some of you may have experience or advice you could share.

twinklingfairy · 08/01/2008 16:27

HI all.
DG yes, my temp went up three days ago so FF has put in my big red lines
So I am now on my 3DPO, yeah.
DH and \i at least BD before ov this month, last month we were a day late so I am feeling much more confident.
Also, an I know I am being silly cos it is waaay to early. But I feel I am this time, last month I totally knew I wasn't.
I think it is cos I don't necessarily want to be this month (LO's B'Days would be about 4 days apart) So I am convinced it will be sods law.
Then I was shopping yesterday when I had really strong flashbacks to when I had HG( is that what it was, really bad MS to point I was hospitalised) Anyway, the flashbacks were realy weird and I have never had them before.

Mibbes my temps go from 36.02 to 36.3 before ov and up to 36.6 after.
But I fluctuate quite a lot.
Mine looks like a jaggy mountain range. It is only really EWCM and the OPK's that mean I know for absolute sure, otherwise I may question myself. Though for 3 months now I have been pretty regular. CD17 ov, CD29 AF arrival.
Don't know how to do one of those links or I would show you mine.

HattyYellow when are you due to test cycle buddy. You made me with your impatience!

Reckon I will test Saturday after next, but will probably succumb before that
Especially if I keep getting strange nausea but no nausea feelings and my boobs are a little sore at night, though lying on them prob does not help.
So just a couple of days before you DG
When are you gonna test HattyYellow?

twinklingfairy · 08/01/2008 16:44

jollybear I just got my OPK's from ebay. The chepest About £3 for 15 or something. They work fine for me.
I test anywhere between 12 and 7pm (one night, norm about 4pm) and have always got my positive in the end. Though do spend a few days thinking, are these things working at all??
But I ov at CD17 and am always begining to panic slightly by CD15. Stoopid cos I know my cycle by now, but there you go.
Though, in saying that, this month I only tested on CD16&17 and got positives both days, but that was cos I was temping so knew more about what was going in.
I would defo recommend it.
DH and I have a look at it every day to see what is going on, with me explaining all the abbreviations
I am such a yabber (just look at my posts) that there is just no way I could keep any of it to myself.)
Besides, my body is being reffered to as ours at the mo (we have ov'd, we are fertile, we have lots of EWCM, come on, jump on honeyetc etc), so this info should be as important to him as it is to me.

hattyyellow · 08/01/2008 18:05

Hey girls, glad to see it's not just me being impatient!

twinklingfairy - am due to test on day 28 which is err mid week next week I think! gingers crossed for you!

hattyyellow · 08/01/2008 18:05

FINGERS crossed even! Hahaha maybe that's a sign of pregnancy!

digitalgirl · 08/01/2008 18:12

got cramps. i know it's too early for implantation, i know it's just the progesterone, but i've got dull back-achy, womb-achy cramps.

and my boobs hurt when i squash them together to create a 'cleavage' (which requires a fair bit of manipulation with my little b-cups, but still...)

welcome witch&chips! how long have you been trying?

hi hattyyellow, only on CD20? pah! I'm on CD28 and I've still got 12 days to go before i'm officially late.

OP posts:
ScaryHairy · 08/01/2008 19:25

dg - yes, temp rise arrived this morning, up to 36.79 so as long as that carries on for the next 2 days I think the conclusion is that I ov'd on Saturday or early Sunday, as it generally seems to take a couple of days for my proper rise to happen after ov. Sat would be good as DH did his part on Friday and Saturday. It's just a shame that getting the timing right does not automatically equal success! It looks like your temps are very similar to mine. I am below 36.6 pre-ov and above 36.7 afterwards.

Jollybear - I have not used them, but have seen a lot of recommendations of Access Diagnostics (who sell tests online). I guess you might get tests cheaper on ebay but I've also read posts from people saying they bought duds from ebay.

Your symptoms sound promising witchandchips

mibbes · 08/01/2008 20:45

Final temping question - is it essential to have 2 decimal places as suggested earlier ? My digital thermometer only goes to 1 and I notice above dg and ScaryHairy you have both listed your temps to 1 dec place. Am I ok using the one I have ?

ScaryHairy · 08/01/2008 21:01

Generally "they" recommend that you get a thermometer that has 2 decimal places. Again, Access diagnostics does a pretty cheap one:
www.accessdiagnostics.co.uk/acatalog/Basal_Body_Temperature_Thermometers.html

The reason for having 2dp is that if you get temps that go from 35.0 before ov to 36.9 after ov you might not notice if you only have 1dp on your thermometer. On the other hand, if your temperature shift is pronounced enough you might notice without buying a special thermometer.

Does that make sense?

ScaryHairy · 08/01/2008 21:05

twinklingfairy it looks like you and I will be finding out at about the same time this month. I think it bodes well if you have already conceived at this time of year. In my family, we are mostly conceived in Sept and I have often wondered if we have a more fertile time of year.

I would hate to jinx things but I am feeling more positive this month too...

LuckyBucky · 08/01/2008 21:36

Well with all this talk of temping...I want to be in the temping gang too . So, looked at your link scaryhairy and think I will get a thermometer, however, JUST WHAT EXACTLY is a 'fertility microscope'?? That sounds scary. No pun intended.

LuckyBucky · 08/01/2008 21:37

Oh and I too am on the dreaded 2ww wait, but am not hopeful really....pretty sure I Bd'd too early. . No symptoms to speak of except a bit of CM and slighly larger (.)(.)s. Not even Dolly Parton ones though

ScaryHairy · 08/01/2008 21:54

I think fertility microscopes are something to do with inspecting your spit, but I could well be wrong. I'm all for the science bit, but am more GCSE than Phd!

Have just re-read my post about the decimal places and no it doesn't make sense! Apologies to mibbes. So here goes again: if your temp shifts from e.g. 36.31 to 36.59 then you know that it a pretty big jump... but if you had 1dp on your thermometer you might be wondering if your temp really had jumped. It could have gone from 36.39 to 36.50 for example, which might just be normal run-of-the-mill stuff for you. Think that makes more sense. Either way "they " (whoever they are - makers of bbts perhaps...) claim temping ladies need one!

Have thoroughly confused self now. Perhaps it is time for bed.

LuckyBucky · 08/01/2008 22:01

aah a ferning thing scary. We have actually discussed those before. I noticed in the waiting room you seem to have lost a day on the register. You were cycle buddies with PicknMix and I for a short while...

mibbes · 08/01/2008 22:02

Thanks ScaryHairy will get one of those
