@thislittlebird @AnxiousWannabe Recently we were talking about Access Fertility.
Just got a call saying I’m not eligible for any of the packages because of my low ovarian reserve. I was so upset- voice breaking on the phone to the guy as I said that the NHS won’t help us, now you won’t help us, why is it that the people that need the most help don’t get any?!
So upset and frustrated ONCE AGAIN! 😢

thislittlebird · 24/06/2021 12:49

@Misty84 oh no, I’m so sorry. I would be so upset too. Give yourself time to deal with this and then have another think about options. Maybe you could do one round at regular cost and then move somewhere cheaper like Create once you know how you respond etc? @Kitekat81 is with Create, I know they do three rounds of egg collection for a cheaper price because mild ivf with fewer drugs.

It makes me annoyed tbh that you’re not allowed nhs treatment based on likelihood of success rather than everyone being able to do it at least one time funded. It’s such an unequal system where some are getting three rounds and others none.

thislittlebird · 24/06/2021 12:53

@Marvellouslymadmum I called our GP this morning (I was going to go there early but snoozed too long) and was 36th in the queue 😯. Decided to go in tomorrow morning rather than call.

I need to work out how to get them to do a urine test for chlamydia and not a swab.

@selina37 were you bleeding around ovulation without b6? I tried 100mg last month and it delayed my LP so I stopped. I don’t like the unpredictability.

Misty84 · 24/06/2021 13:45

Thanks @thislittlebird. They make it sound like we haven’t got a hope in hell 😔

thislittlebird · 24/06/2021 13:59

@Misty84 you have eggs so it’s not like it’s without a chance of working. I’m not gonna say it’ll work for sure, none of us know that about this dumb journey we’re on, but as long as you have eggs there’s a chance.

There’s some stories in here of women with very low AMH (lower than yours I think) www.mumsnet.com/Talk/infertility/3296616-Low-AMH-Level-anyone-had-success-with-IVF

What was your AFC?

Misty84 · 24/06/2021 14:24

Thanks @thislittlebird for sending me the thread, you probably won’t be surprised to know I’ve already read it🤪 (I read every possible thread I could find when got the news!😟)
AFC was 10 in Nov, 9 in April…

thislittlebird · 24/06/2021 14:45

@Misty84 I guessed you would have 😂. I re-read these threads all the time when I’m panicking about all this, I’ve run out of new threads lol

It’s kinda nuts really. I think @notyetamumbuttrying (can’t tag her new name, she may have alighted the bus) had a similar AFC but because the AMH is a little higher it’s a different story. The guidelines are bizarre. You have ten eggs before ivf so you have a good chance.

selina37 · 24/06/2021 17:20

@Misty84 hope you are ok, don't let the knocks rock you too much though, there is ALWAYS hope 😘🤗

@thislittlebird id spot a tiny bit after ovulation but this is just different. I've come to know my body quite well and this is out of the ordinary. I keep wondering if it is the B6, but then I've only had these issues since taking B6, which is after all a hormone-affecting vitamin!

I'm quite annoyed tbh as it's been REALLY good for LP spotting, but I guess I'd rather get on with that than random stuff throughout the month. And I've been terribly down recently, like everything exasperates me!

I really regret taking the pill all those years now, so I figure I'm going to stop putting things in my body that affect my hormones!!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 24/06/2021 17:23

@selina37 have you tried acupuncture? I found that really good for helping to balance my hormones and sort out my cycle. Also used 1000mg of vitamin C to support progesterone - I feel like that helped with my spotting and luteal phase a bit.

Too many B vitamins male me feel a bit weird sometimes so I ended up just going back to what was in my multivitamin for those.

becarefuloutthere · 24/06/2021 17:35

@thislittlebird hiya still here! You're right, mine is like @Misty84 amh 5.4, afc was 12. I got 10 eggs collected, 8 fertilised and got 4 viable embryos! They put me on a high dose of stims -300 menopur due to my amh, and they thought I'd respond well. I thought I'd get 12 eggs collected tbh but I had a couple of small ones which didn't catch up.
Misty, so sorry to hear access won't help you! They'll defo be other uk clinics that will, and if not, you can you look into abroad if you haven't already. Do you listen to the bfn podcast? They had the browns family on talking about ivf abroad, think they went to Greece and had success!

selina37 · 24/06/2021 18:04

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I've only ever had acupuncture once and that was for morning sickness, offered by my GP a whole 16 years ago! I might well give it a go, or at least massage - something to relax!

I'm glad you say b vitamins can make you feel weird (in a nice way, if you know what I mean!) as it's backing up how I feel! I should be feeling great (at ovulation stage) but instead literally everything is irritating me. I feel how I did when I had the implant contraceptive - just no peace with myself!! Like a bad hair day but a bad body day - I'm uncomfortable with just existing atm! 🤣

I know people take B12 jabs as a mood enhancer (?) so there's obviously a link between b vits - hormones - mood!

thislittlebird · 24/06/2021 18:32

Have you had any investigations @selina37? I don’t know much about bleeding after ovulation but it might be worth looking into? Definitely stop the B vits if you feel unwell. Or take much lower doses.

@becarefuloutthere your numbers should give @Misty84 a little hope at least, you’re not far apart age wise either. Paying full whack for it all bloody sucks but 10 is not the worst, 10 is a good starting point to work from.

AnxiousWannabe · 24/06/2021 18:41

@Misty84
We only need the ONE egg

Marvellouslymadmum · 24/06/2021 18:45

@selina37 I've heard you shouldn't take 100mg b6 for long periods of time as there are adverse effects. I take 50mg all month and haven't had any issues with it.

@Misty84 so sorry about access, is there another way you can get it sorted without it?

@thislittlebird that used to happen to me, this surgery isn't like it thankfully

thislittlebird · 25/06/2021 10:58

@Marvellouslymadmum I have an appointment with the GP 😬. I had to go in and cry at the doctor’s receptionist to get it, and now I’m freaking out because I’ve had such awful doctor experiences over the past year that I expect nothing but trauma from this appointment 😩. I really hope he can help me.

Marvellouslymadmum · 25/06/2021 11:29

@thislittlebird I'm sure they'll be helpful! Not all doctors are the same, there must be some nice ones near you 🤞🏻

thislittlebird · 25/06/2021 11:41

@Marvellouslymadmum I hope so 😩. When we were there it was chaos, and the receptionist who shouted at me about a mask was shouting at a man who wanted a sick note. This triage system is trash. I burst into tears and then they said I could speak to the doctor so that’s progress, because you couldn’t even go into my old surgery. That place was locked and barred.

Geriatric1234 · 25/06/2021 11:46

Guys: need thoughts! WWYD?

Just been offered earlier 2nd Covid dose. I can get it tomorrow at 7dpo. I’ll break all my early testing rules and poas, but regardless I doubt anything will show that early.

I’d feel so much happier getting the second dose, and I can find no evidence of it causing fertility issues (though most of this is from the USA and they aren’t using AZ which is the one I had).

I had quite a big reaction to first jab (temperature/early period) but apparently the second jab is far less of a reaction.

All input welcome!! Xxxx

Marvellouslymadmum · 25/06/2021 11:46

@thislittlebird it's crazy isn't it?! My surgery you phone up and get get a telephone appointment for most things then the doc decides if they want to see you and then you can have an actual appointment

thislittlebird · 25/06/2021 12:05

@Geriatric1234 I reacted strongly to the first AZ and no reaction to the second. I would go for it.

@Marvellouslymadmum the system is crazy. I desperately want to leave London right now so I can better care in a quieter area tbh. But we can’t move or do anything at all until this ttc stuff is making progress.

Marvellouslymadmum · 25/06/2021 12:11

@Geriatric1234 I had a small tea Orion to the first jab then had second one 22nd may which was when ov was due, I ended ovulating almost 3 weeks later but I don't know if it has anything to do with the jab anyway and the docs told me it doesn't effect fertility but Covid does. If you did happen to be pregnant I'm guessing it would only just be implanting so should be ok

@thislittlebird I can totally understand that, you definitely don't want to start all over again with it, but then maybe you would Bolger more help from the nhs that way 🤷🏼‍♀️

thislittlebird · 25/06/2021 14:28

@Marvellouslymadmum omg I FINALLY got to speak to a good doctor, and he’s my GP. I could cry with relief tbh. He’s referred us to Guys ACU and I couldn’t be happier with him. He’s also booked me in for all these tests and screenings I need. Maybe it won’t tick every box they need screening wise but it’s a start.

In the meantime we can pursue private something I guess, will have to work on what that something is.

I have no idea how long it will take with the nhs but hopefully I can do a round of ivf in the meantime.

Marvellouslymadmum · 25/06/2021 14:37

@thislittlebird yes amazing! I knew you'd fine a nice one in the end! I've been around half the gp's in my practice until I found the most helpful one so that's brilliant news!! So pleased for you

thislittlebird · 25/06/2021 14:43

@Marvellouslymadmum It’s honestly such a weight off. I don’t quite know how long it takes from referral to appointment but we’re closer than we were yesterday.

Not sure what to do with my formal complaint at this stage though. Should I retract it? I dunno if it will help or hinder.

becarefuloutthere · 25/06/2021 14:49

@thislittlebird yay!! And at guys too 🥳 they'll likely get you to speak to reproductive health first who basically just have a chat with you and request the funding, then you get to speak acu closer to when funding is approved. The timescale changes all the time, but you can do private without forfeiting your funded round if you decide the wait is too long. So pleased you spoke to someone good at last!! X
