What do we all think about the effect of the Covid vaccine on sperm...? Dh has been called up for his and he was gonna go Sunday but this is before egg collection. Have seen ppl saying it can affect sperm, so want him to do it afterwards but he's eager to get vaxxed which is fair enough! Thoughts?? Anecdotal or otherwise!

@notyetamumbuttrying thanks for adding me to the new thread. I'm still lurking despite now being slightly less of an infertile donkey 🤣

Hope you're all okay ❤️

notyetamumbuttrying · 11/05/2021 16:26

@Theawkwardblonde we love an infertile donkey getting her bfp!! How are you getting on? Having an early scan or holding out? I'm ok thanks apart from my quandary below... 🤔

OP posts:
Theawkwardblonde · 11/05/2021 16:32

@notyetamumbuttrying I'm getting on okay thanks. Sick as a dog this week and been moved on to office duties. Too risky for to be in my normal role. I really want an early scan but DH is now reluctant to pay after having had one at 6 weeks. I want one at ten but he is arguing otherwise 🙄🙄
I've no idea what to do regarding the vaccine. I'm of the mindset you should get it if offered, but would totally understand if you didn't. Can your Gp offer and advice on it?

Motherofkittens28 · 11/05/2021 16:58

@notyetamumbuttrying mine had his after our first round of ivf (that was just when he was called) he is having his second dose on Saturday which is a week before egg collection so I guess if we suddenly need ICSI we will know it was probably the vaccine as nothing else has changed! He's already had one so we are committed now!

Motherofkittens28 · 11/05/2021 16:59

@notyetamumbuttrying actually I got the text to book mine yesterday but there is no way I'm having it in the middle of an ivf cycle. I'll see how I feel once this cycle is over.

notyetamumbuttrying · 11/05/2021 17:17

@Theawkwardblonde ah so you've had to tell work already! How were they? Sickness, although shit, is hopefully an awesome sign that all is progressing well! Were you this sick last time round? He might feel differently once you get closer to 10, can understand his apprehension tho. Good idea with asking the GP. I might email the Ivf nurses actually!
@Motherofkittens28 ok thanks, he's eager to go so I've told him to book it. It'll likely be two more weeks before EC anyway.
Yeah I'm not sure I'd have mine in the middle of one either! I'm 3 years younger than Dh so hoping I won't be called until summer.

Yay for the new bus!! Hope everyone is ok x

Theawkwardblonde · 11/05/2021 20:32

@notyetamumbuttrying I felt a tad sick last pregnancy and felt sick with both my chemicals too.
This time around have had no feelings of nausea until last week (week 6), but it's ramped up a notch with last night being horrific.

Work were fine. I was hoping to wait a few more weeks but had to ring in sick for shift last week due to my hospital trip, so they knew something was up.
It's too high risk staying in my normal role. Although it's been hard hiding my sickness today in an office 🤢

Marvellouslymadmum · 11/05/2021 20:52

@Motherofkittens28 glad the injection went well. Well that's not good about the fsh, here was me thinking mine was ok 😂 they took fsh Lh oestrogen and progesterone at the same time

@notyetamumbuttrying I've been told it doesn't impact fertility at all by the gp. I've got my second one booked on 22nd right around fw and she said it was fine to have it

@Theawkwardblonde so glad you're doing ok, sickness is horrible but good at the same time

Thank you for the new donkey bus - all
Aboard!

sausageface · 11/05/2021 21:04

Can I join you all please? Feeling super glum today on CD1 and feeling sick with it just to add insult to injury!

Slightly different ttc journey for us than most. Tried casually initially from jan 2019, by the end of that year started tracking ovulation and realised my ovulation is later than standard, so that was a wasted 10 months or so of trying at the wrong time! Kept up the ovulation sticks until around April/May 2020 when we eventually got to a point of my dh being diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Ttc obviously had to go on hold whilst he tried to stay alive and he's now in remission and doing great! Not allowed to ttc until the end of June again due to having to wait for 6 months after chemo. In that time I've found out I've got pcos and don't ovulate every month. Yay me 🙄

We've had our first fertility appointment now, next one in July. By then DH will be over 6m post chemo so will have his SA done to see what's happened since chemo (frozen deposits are low concentration but common with HL) and I need to drop 1.5st to get my bmi lower for clomid if needed (it will be I'm sure)

Anyway there's my life story haha at 33 I can't help but feel the age pressure but know that I'm being silly really. Looking forward to getting to know you all!

polejunkie · 11/05/2021 21:19

Oh @sausageface what a journey so far!! Welcome, you’ve come to the right place, super to hear that your OH is now in remission but what a ride you both must have been on 💐

Marvellouslymadmum · 11/05/2021 21:47

@sausageface welcome! That's definitely a different story but so pleased your husband is in remission! Looks like you've got lots to look forward to and you're on the right track, please try not to worry about your age though 33 isn't a bad age at all, plenty older on here (myself included, just turned 42) hopefully they'll get something sorted for you soon

sausageface · 11/05/2021 21:51

Thanks @polejunkie, it's definitely been a rollercoaster of emotion! My husbands health always was going to take priority, having him alive was top of the list! But the fact we had to stop ttc was still a painful pill to swallow. Still, here we are, better informed now I've been diagnosed with pcos and on the fertility pathway so we'll get there!

sausageface · 11/05/2021 21:55

@Marvellouslymadmum thank you! I have many days of being rational about it all, just today I think I'm just feeling a bit sorry for myself, surrounded by friends who are all falling very quickly. I'm sure I'll wake up a lot more level again like usual! X

Marvellouslymadmum · 11/05/2021 22:02

@sausageface you're perfectly entitled to have days where you're feeling down after what you've been through, I totally get the pregnant people thing, found myself scowling at a pregnant stranger as she waddled down the street the other day 🤦🏼‍♀️ feel free to vent on here, loads of lovely supportive ladies around x

crazycatlady1981 · 11/05/2021 22:24

@notyetamumbuttrying thanks for the new bus! 🚌 I think as long as your DHs jab isn’t too close to EC it would be fine. My DH reacted badly to his first jab and wasn’t feeling right for about 4-5 days afterwards so I don’t think he would’ve been up for driving us to a clinic and jizzing in a pot during that time! 😬

@sausageface welcome to the group! 😊 So glad to hear that your DH is in remission, what a journey you’ve had!

Motherofkittens28 · 12/05/2021 08:31

Morning all and welcome @sausageface!
Feeling super exhausted for the second day in a row and now thinking it could be my injections. If it is I think its the menopur as that's new this cycle. I'm only on a low dose of that one so dread to think how I'd be on a full dose! I fell asleep at 9pm last night and ignored my alarm to go swimming this morning, I'm not going to thank myself for that at my dress fitting!

polejunkie · 12/05/2021 09:26

@Motherofkittens28 sorry to hear you feel so tired already (saying that I’m in bed at 9 most nights 🤣) sounds pretty different for you so far, how many days of menopur?!
I went swimming this morning didn’t want to but feel better for it, can you go later?

@sausageface how are you feeling this morning? X

RobinRose · 12/05/2021 09:31

Hello @sausageface! Sounds like you have had a rollercoaster of a journey, glad your Dh is in remission now!

Ladies, I am feeling utterly miserable and sorry for myself today!! I hate this part of my cycle, emotions are all over the place. Af due today, im cramping but she has yet to show her face (just get it over with already!) My friend is due her baby today, someone I went to school with made their 4th(!) pregnancy announcement a few days ago... I'm just generally pissed off at the world today 😩

Annny27 · 12/05/2021 09:57

@robinrose have you tested??

@sausageface welcome lovely and sorry to hear of the tough journey you have had so far!

@notyetamumbuttrying oh not heard of any sperm affects eith the jab thats interesting!

@motherofkittens28 hope the exhaustion eases!
