@thislittlebird not bad thank you, somewhere around 9/10dpo at last so just waiting for af to show in the next week or so then I'm one step closer to my gynae appointment. How are you?

Elakiya · 19/06/2021 11:28

Hi everyone.

Can I join too? I’m 30, ttc no 1 since May 2020 according to my app but I’ve been on metformin since Sept 19. I had a miscarriage in February 2021 at 6 weeks. I have PCOS

polejunkie · 19/06/2021 13:21

Welcome aboard @Elakiya sorry to hear about your miscarriage, lots of people here to share your journey with x

How are all you stimmers getting on? I felt really faint during and immediately after mine last night, completely the opposite to the first one and annoyingly tonight I have to do two (not enough dosage left in my pen for the whole dose) so I’m more nervous tonight 🙄

Hope everyone is ok x

Juno231 · 19/06/2021 17:01

Welcome @Elakiya and so sorry to hear about your loss. Are you on metformin due to PCOS I assume? Are your cycles regular?

I'm 8dpo today. I think the progesterone has made me extra tired - I fell asleep at 8.30 last night and woke up at 8.30 this morning!

crazycatlady1981 · 19/06/2021 17:02

@polejunkie sorry to hear that! Hope you get on ok tonight! Is your partner around to help you in case you feel rough again? I had a bit of bleeding from injection site this morning, but DH was on hand with a tissue thankfully! Didn’t last long at all though!

@thislittlebird good to hear that you have a plan in place for private ivf. It’s unbelievable how rubbish some ccgs are compared to others and really not fair at all, especially when time is ticking on!! Hope all your results come through soon and you can get started asap! Have you ever tracked your bbt for determining if/when you ovulate?

Juno231 · 19/06/2021 20:16

@crazycatlady1981 ha i can vouch that @thislittlebird bbt charts were rather inconclusive! Slow rises/small temp shifts etc

thislittlebird · 19/06/2021 20:37

@crazycatlady1981 I have for a month or three (with gaps between months) but as @Juno231 said they were hard to read. I’ve decided to call it “weak” ovulation. I have no idea if that’s a real thing lol

It’s just so odd because I seem to ovulate, I have had a dominant follicle on scans at days 11 and 14 on the two times I’ve had my follicles counted. I get regular periods, if a little variable in days, I have clear Fallopian tubes and I get an LH rise on clear blue ovulation tests. I just don’t seem to have much progesterone and perhaps not enough to support a pregnancy 🤨

thislittlebird · 19/06/2021 20:40

@Marvellouslymadmum fingers crossed AF stays away 😬. I’m ovulating (if that’s a thing I do) soon I guess. I had the hycosy on day 11, it’s now CD15 so we’re dtd every day for a week and hoping for the best. Can’t check for ovulation this month because I didn’t enter my cycle into CB advanced monitor in time and it’s very annoying because you have to enter it within a few days or it won’t let you read any tests Hmm

Hello to @Elakiya

CycleGirl20 · 19/06/2021 20:48

Hello @Elakiya 👋

@thislittlebird I think I have an issue with the latter part of my cycle. I have my progesterone numbers somewhere. I think my day 21 bloods showed 39. My luteal phase is short and I've had the repeated one day of positive tests then AF. I'm closely watching your updates in case it gives me clues!

thislittlebird · 19/06/2021 21:08

@CycleGirl20 39 is fine though, so that’s good. How long is your luteal phase? I often see low progesterone women on here where it seems to go hand in hand with a short luteal phase but I don’t have that issue, mine is almost always 12 days, usually ovulate around day 16-18. I’ve never had a positive test, so I guess the decent sperm aren’t getting there.

Would be nice if the hycosy flush helped a few more get through!

thislittlebird · 19/06/2021 21:13

And right now, after speaking about my mystery ovulation, I have ovulation pains on the right which is the side the hycosy doc said my dominant follicle was on.

Would love to know why the CL can’t produce enough progesterone. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Marvellouslymadmum · 19/06/2021 21:13

Hi @Elakiya sorry to hear of your mc

@polejunkie hope you get on ok with your injection tonight.

@thislittlebird I missed out on Christmas this month too as they didn't arrive in time to use them, or so I though, would've use the whole box trying to get to day 33 though so probably a good thing 😂 I've got hopes for you after that hycosy and tube being cleared this month 🤞🏻🤞🏻

thislittlebird · 19/06/2021 21:19

@Marvellouslymadmum yeah sometimes it’s a blessing in disguise. They haven’t exactly helped me conceive so far so I’m less worried than I used to be about tracking ovulation. I can skip a month, it won’t make much difference lol

CycleGirl20 · 19/06/2021 21:34

I have a 10-13 day luteal depending on how much strong B vitamins I take.

@Elakiya sorry to hear about your MC. How are you finding Metformin? My doctor gave me that for suspect/maybe PCOS. I can only take half pills or it gives me stomach ache and I keep forgetting to take more than 2 half pills a day so 1000mg

Marvellouslymadmum · 19/06/2021 21:36

@thislittlebird lol I'm certainly glad I carried on with the cheap strips this month or i wouldn't have had a clue what was happening with ovulation and probably ended up with bfn's after 30ish days 🙄 3 of my apps have ovulation right now on day 33/34 and predict af between tuesday and Saturday which will mean a 46-50 day cycle. I do hate the long ones

thislittlebird · 19/06/2021 22:02

@CycleGirl20 so yours is slightly short sometimes? Hmmm

@Marvellouslymadmum how long are you cycles most of the time?

Juno231 · 19/06/2021 22:03

@CycleGirl20 I think you can ask for a slow release metformin which is meant to be a lot kinder on the tummy?

CycleGirl20 · 19/06/2021 22:13

My luteal phase is 10-11 days but I can get it up to 13 if I take strong vitamin B pills. Im back on those now. I'm cd 14 and should ovulate in the next few days. Has anyone tried Sperm Meets Egg? I'm trying to decide if we could cope with 3 days of sex in a row 😅

Marvellouslymadmum · 19/06/2021 22:36

@thislittlebird shortest is 21 days but mostly 24-33 days with a few longer 66, 53 plus this one

acaciabluebell · 19/06/2021 23:11

@thislittlebird I'm exactly the same as you. I get strong ovulation pains, EWCM, positive OPK, and my period is regular-ish (24-33 days) with a luteal phase of exactly 11 days each month. But every time my progesterone is tested it's between 20-25. Not high enough to confirm ovulation and probably not high enough to sustain a pregnancy either. It's so confusing.

acaciabluebell · 19/06/2021 23:12

Also I time the Day 21 test perfectly, so it's not a matter of timing - which is what my GP always assumes 🙄

polejunkie · 19/06/2021 23:19

@Marvellouslymadmum much better thank you, phew!!

thislittlebird · 19/06/2021 23:20

@Marvellouslymadmum any clue why the occasional long cycles?

@acaciabluebell it’s so frustrating! The doctors always assume we time it wrong, yep! The last consultant I spoke to got me to dig around in my app for the exact day of ovulation and cd1 vs when I had the test and it was exactly midway between the two.

I can’t work out why the progesterone is so low, my last one was 10. Do you get the feeling they don’t know as much on this topic as we would like? 🤨

I wonder if we fit into the ovulating but can’t sustain gang rather than the non-ovulating gang.

Marvellouslymadmum · 19/06/2021 23:36

@polejunkie oh that's good news!

@thislittlebird not the foggiest! All I know is that on these long cycles my body attempts ovulation a number of times before it happens 🤷🏼‍♀️ I also have a suspicion of low progesterone though as I've only been tested once and it was 64 which I know is high, but that was the only month ever that I've had sore boobs and really strong ovulation pains! I've a feeling it was because that was the month I started one of the supplements and it must've boosted it! Got to speak to the go next week anyway about checking my iron levels again so I'll see if they'll do another progesterone too

CycleGirl20 · 20/06/2021 14:22

@Marvellouslymadmum that sounds a pain, never knowing how long your cycle will be. I did hear on a podcast (although I can't remember which) that it's not uncommon to have different cycle lengths for each ovary. I think it's usually similar enough that you wouldn't notice but can be quite different. May well be something completely different but I thought that was interesting when I heard it.

I saw yesterday that my first UK fertility clinic date is mid August. I will need to go back onto my low calorie diet I think. I don't want to go to that with a BMI of 30.1 and get turned down or made to weight for treatment!
