Feeling very fed up with failing every month and wondered if there's anyone in the same boat? It's a lonely boat on a journey to nowhere at the moment, but if anyone else wants to join me, some company would be nice

I wasn't planning on being snotty to the neighbours... I do understand that unless they have a house cat, there is not much they can do stop said moggy poo-ing on my borders... my mum was surprised that he wasn't burying his business, as most cats apparently do. Trust me to live near a lazy cat.

So... it would be out of line for me to throw the offending poo over the fence back into the cats garden? (I already know the answer)

Contemplating getting a super soaker... how many times would I have to spray him before he decided to poo next door?

Oh... I heard about lion poo as a solution?

Ready · 28/03/2008 11:02

In all honesty... I won't be touching the poo... it is all goo-ey... sorry ladies. My mum (local cat expert) says that this is not right for cats... but then he is fat, so perhaps GillianMckeith could explain the squidge

herbaceous · 28/03/2008 11:53

Ooh no. Cat poo should be quite firm, and once rolled around in litter, oddly reminiscent of chocolate truffles. Or is that just me.

As for my panic, I think I'm going to give it six months. By then I'll be getting on for 43, and will have to let it go. According to a nice lady doctor I saw, my chances of getting pg naturally are better than with IVF (as I've done so before, lots). If I get pg, and miscarry this one too, I think that will put an end to it all...

scared1976 · 28/03/2008 18:13

Hey ladies - Ready dont really know what to say about the cat poo. But yes it is defn ok to chuck it over the fence I reckon!

So tomorrow I have my big appointment at the clinic. Ive filled in all my forms and of course DH has not. Im hoping she doesnt ask lots of qns about periods and vaginal discharge - i think on top of my current seduction technique ("Im ovulating! hop on, but can you be quick Im really tired") it might just be the last straw for him indoors.

Ill let you know if I pick up any top tips!

nomoremagnolia · 28/03/2008 19:17

scared fingers crossed for tomorrow. Is it with a view to doing IUI or IVF or just to talk about your next move?

OP posts:
scared1976 · 28/03/2008 20:16

i dont really know. this is my first docs appt after ttc for 16 months so we'll see what the doc suggests!

nomoremagnolia · 28/03/2008 20:50

In that case be prepared for them to take blod (or arrange to do so on certain days of your cycle) and for a possible ultrasound to check your ovaries. They may want to book you for a HSG too. Have you had any tests from your gp or is this the first time you have seen anyone about it? Oh and expect a urine sample and weight/height (BMI) check too. Has your DH done any tests yet? They might ask him to provide a semen sample (at a later date, not there and then!) Basically they'll be checking things that might be the reason you're not conceiving - like low sperm count/PCOS/endo etc.
Best of luck with it all

OP posts:
nomoremagnolia · 28/03/2008 20:52

and they will ask about your cycles - but hopefully only their length and the length of your period as these could provide symptoms of problems (very long or irregular cycles can be a symptom of PCOS)

There are loads of cat things you can get like pellets and gels and things like that to repel them. You can also get a sonic cat repeller that emits a noise only they can hear and they dont like it.Do you have a Robert Dyas by where u live, try there. I have two cats and ur right to say its not the owners fault but its not very nice for u to have them pooing in ur garden. I dont blame u for throwing it over the fence, just dont throw it too hard(vik imagines a whole house splattered with cat poo)

viksam · 28/03/2008 21:15

scared I hope tomorrow goes well, make sure u write down any questions you have, and dont be worried about getting them out either. You will be mad if you miss the chance of asking what you want. Is DH going with u?

Ready · 29/03/2008 10:57

Hey ladies? how are you all? How wonderful is the weather today? Spring really is on the way.

Dh and I went out for the day yesterday, and had so much fun, it was just what I needed as my mood has been so up and down of late. We did some shopping, had lunch out, more shopping, went to see a movie, then out for a meal then home for some non-baby making , followed by curling up on the sofa with ice cream and some gems saved on Sky+ (The Office ? American Workplace and My Name is Earl)

So? we went to see Juno? dh?s choice as I (as usual) could not make a decision. And probably not the best film to see when struggling to conceive? but still brilliant, totally recommend it! Must see!

Before hand we were mooching around johnlewis, and I suggested we go and have a look at the bugaboos ? see if we couldn?t get put off? quite like the silver cross system, it has to be said ? but again (Cher) it?s just because it looks fairly pretty. Although dh liked the separate handlebars. The saleslady came over at one point, and I am fairly sure that both dh and I looked like rabbits in headlights ? like we had been discovered stealing sweets or something?

Scary Saleswoman: ?Are you ok there??
Rabbit in headlight number 1 (me): ?Oh, we?re just having a quick look, but thank you?
Scary Saleswoman: ?Ok, no problem, if you have any queries just ask?
Rabbit in headlight number 1: ?Thank you?
Rabbit in headlight number 2 (dh): ?Yeah, how do we make a baby to go in one of these??
I said to dh immediately that I would be sharing this with the MN group ? I think he was secretly proud of himself, for that little bit of humour. I couldn?t stop laughing, and we had to leave? I certainly felt as if the neon sign above my head flashed IMPOSTERS? so a little bit sad, but a lot funny

Wow? I have waffled on a plenty, and haven?t even got to the personal stuff yet? Sorry ladies? perhaps I need to start a blog and save you all from my ramblings.

Scared, hope everything goes well today? do let us know how you got on. All the best I hope that your dh copes with all the cervical mucus questions ? it?s good practice for pregnancy, labour, oh and poo-ey nappies and sick.

Vik, thanks for the advice on the gels etc for the cat poo? pmsl at the thought of a house splattered with cat poo? that wouldn?t be pretty ? don?t know what RobertDyas is. I have decided I won?t be throwing it over the fence (I?m a wimp!) ? but going to invest in a supersoaker ? some pellets or something.

Herby? the truffles comparison ? this cat isn?t pooing truffles, oh no, unless mr whippy does truffles

Nomore? how are you doing?

Where is everyone else? have I scared them off with the cat poo?

Minnow1 · 29/03/2008 13:13

We have had a letter form the hospital asking us to phone and book an appointment - scary!! Can't phone until monday though - how frustrating. Why does the whole NHS shut down at weekends!!!

Re cat poo, the best way to stop someone elses cat pooing in your garden is to get a cat of your own, although this doesn't solve the problem of poo in the garden, just whose poo it is! Perhaps it's a bit like dirty nappies - people say you don't mind them so much when it's one of your own?! (funny image of cats in nappies now in my head )

Remember to always wear rubber gloves etc when gardening as cat poo harbours nasty bugs that can affect a pregnancy.

Looking at possible holiday destinations to try and distract myself from ttc......

nomoremagnolia · 29/03/2008 14:08

scared1976 · 30/03/2008 11:26

hi girls - hope you all had a great sat night! aiii

here are some great nuggets from my lady at the fertility clinic:

  • Men and booze - beer the enemy, wine ok
  • Men and balls - dont let them put the laptop on their lap! Mine does this 3 hours a day. ALso no burnt food. Or heated car seats
  • Women over 30 - apparently prob only ovulating 9/10 times a year even on 12 cycles - explains a lot
  • on a 28 day cycle best from day 6/7 to 14 (obvious? dunno)

anyways - DH off for a sperm test (excited about the "porn room" as youd expect) and me for bllod tests and acupuncture to slow me down a bit.

have a great sunday. Am one day late but with cramps . Also just tripped and landed on a different threat with someone complaining she was ttc for 3 months on no 4 and nearly smashed up my living room

X

Ready · 30/03/2008 12:32

Ok... I am really sorry if you think I am being bossy Scared, but please don't take what the nurse said about when the best time to have sex is. I usually have a 28 day cycle, and yet I ovulate on 15/16 - so 6/7-14 would not be the best plan for me. Unfortunately, a lot of practitioners assume that a 28 day cycle means that ovulation will occur smack bang in the middle. But it isn't always the case.

Sorry... it might well be right for you, and I don't want to profess to being qualified in family planning.

Have you charted your temperature or done opks to find out when you ovulate? Not that that is always 100% accurate... but it can give you a rough idea though.

Phew... glad to have some back up there.

Ready · 30/03/2008 14:57

oh Lottie, that is so funny, sorry, painfully funny. I am blushing here for you. Or rather I would be, if I wasn't covered in a LizEarle mudmask (and pomegranate seeds) - did you get that cold sweat feeling? To be honest though, there probably are women out there who forget their dute date - but then they would not be the organised women who think ahead for nursery places

Ready · 30/03/2008 14:58

What is a dute date? Obviously I meant due date.

Ready · 30/03/2008 15:01

Ok... they wouldn't be the women... What is WRONG with me today?

scared1976 · 30/03/2008 18:20

hey ladies. thanks for comments on ovulation days - the doctor did say probably so i take your point!

Period is a day late and have pains all day but nothing. Obviously I am convincing myself nicely that these are pregnancy pains. Just in time to make my Monday morning sparkle when it turns up overnight no doubt. I was travelling all month so only managed to BD once on day 13/14 so seems unlikely. Cant test again as already did on Thurs (I know) and was BFN.

Have a nice sunday night x

Ready · 30/03/2008 20:02

Sorry Scared, it's just that some practitioners are adamant of how a woman's body works... but the truth is that every woman is different. But I shouldn't have been so harsh... your nurse said probably
