Feeling very fed up with failing every month and wondered if there's anyone in the same boat? It's a lonely boat on a journey to nowhere at the moment, but if anyone else wants to join me, some company would be nice

ready it feels better when you do something proactive doesnt it. We do sooo much waiting around, its nice to take action. Hope the Doc's are proactive for u too.
I have just finished my first round of clomid, no side effects as yet(touching lots of wood!!! but not that sort of wood.......unfortunatly!!)so lots of dbing for us!! off on holiday next week, cant wait.
Does everyone take folic acid suppliment or any other suppliments and does anyone have real advice on diet etc. I read loads of info but there is nothing like real advice from real people.

Ready · 26/03/2008 16:23

Viksam - pmsl at the touching wood comment
I take pregnacare which has loads of vits and the all important folic acid in it... it's not cheap, but it covers all the basics. With regards to diet - not really sure of anything specific to ttc... not too much alcohol, or caffeine. Plenty of fruit and veg...

Sorry, I am no help am I

Ready · 26/03/2008 16:24

Oh... and nearly forgot, glad you haven't had any side effects on the clomid. Fingers crossed you crack it

scared1976 · 26/03/2008 18:57

hi ladies, thanks for all your nice messages. re the diet thing i have read you are meant to stop drinking coffee and alcohol. Way to be more depressed than I am already.

nomoremagnolia · 26/03/2008 19:05

The ivf doctor said not to worry about giving up alcohol until you actually are pg and the ivf nurse told me that as long as you have a balanced diet with enough fruit and veg you should have enough of the 'other' vits in pregnacare as long as you take folic acid.
All went well today at the clinic, I've got my first lot of drugs and we're good to go with my next period.

OP posts:
nomoremagnolia · 26/03/2008 19:07

The ivf nurse also said to cut down freshly brewed coffee to 2 cups per day. Tea/coke/other caffeine drinks to 5 cups/cans ( at thought of 5 cans of coke per day!)

I don't really drink very often... alcohol that is. The odd glass of wine here and there.
I don't drink coffee at home... I treat myself every now and then to a Starbucks or Costa Skinny Latte when we are out and about... I drink rooibos tea now instead of black tea, so that is caffeine free, naturally. And as for coke - I do have a diet coke or two when I am out for a meal - but that is not that often either... so I don't think I am doing too bad on the caffeine department...

How many chocolate bars would = a cup of coffee

Totally think that upping water intake is a good plan... I always feel awful if I haven't had plenty of water throughout the day. I drink at least a litre of plain water every day.

Don't be too worried about dh not liking fruit so much Gilly, I'd say veg is better out of the two - more nutrients and less sugar on the whole... tomatoes are fruit ... dh won't eat fresh tomatoes, despite eating tinned which irritates me... and he likes bananas but refuses to have a banana smoothie. Tut.

I can't even get dh to drink juice. But he loves his veg, so I shouldn't complain. Oh, and I always have plenty of carrot sticks prepared because he will happily munch his way through 5-6 carrots as a snack
The only thing I have managed to get him into is ice cream and strawberry milkshakes - but that is hardly beneficial... in fact all the fat in the ice cream probably negates the benefit of the strawberries

The cd arrived today... I have just listened to it, and fell asleep that's how relaxing I found it. I started to panic that I might still be under hypnosis because I missed the end. So I went back and listened again... but didn't fall asleep that time... I had missed loads of it first time round - but presumably falling into a deep sleep is a good thing

I couldn't believe I fell asleep, but then I am poorly, so that could be why ... I did remember the pebbles the first time round... and yes, I personally think that was my favourite part. I actually moved my arm to throw a pebble

Dh was listening at the door the second time I listened, (I had to find out how it ended to see if I was still under hypnosis ) - I only know he was listening, because he made some comment about watching the ripples after hossing your pebble in the babbling brook. Cheek. I was quick to tell him it was a POND not a brook

nomoremagnolia · 27/03/2008 19:35

Gilly I have been told (on the IVF thread on here) that you need to drink lots of water when undergonig the treatment - it helps dilute the side effects of the drugs. My new years resolution was to drink more water - started off good but it has slipped a bit now Must try to start drinking more water again. And yes - the drugs are self-administered, three weeks of sniffing a nasal spray then two weeks of injecting.
Ready at the thought of DH listening at the door wondering what the hell you are up to!

Thankfully I had told him about the cd... otherwise he would have probably disturbed me. Bull in a china shop!

nomoremagnolia · 27/03/2008 20:45

Am desperately biting my tounge here
6 months ttc#2? Now I know I'm not the worst off in this group by a long way but even so I'm really

OP posts:
orchidgirl · 27/03/2008 22:27

I know nomore. I always think "a few months for number 2"! Try years without having one.

herbaceous · 28/03/2008 09:59

GNNNNN. How many more fecking threads are they going to be along the lines of 'It's been three days since I came off the pill - am I pregnant'. Why don't they just read any of the other 500 of the bloody things posted previously.

I suppose it would be mean to go on there and say 'FFS, stop whingeing'.

Ready · 28/03/2008 10:25

Every ounce of strength to not go steaming in there and saying "OI! Get a f*&^ing grip love... you have a daughter - where on earth is the injustice in that situation? Oh... so it is 6 months in ttc #2.... 6 months - try 16 months and see how you feel? Oh, but even then you will still have a child!!! I'm gutted for you - Er Not"

But I am not a bitch... am I?

Is ftc making me a heartless wench?

herbaceous · 28/03/2008 10:35

It's certainly making me something of a cow. On the tube the other day there was a pregnant lady standing up, and I thought 'suffer, bitch, at least you're not barren and old' as a hid behind my metro. Then, thankfully, someone else offered her a seat, or I may have given in.

I'm having a bit of a crisis at the moment. Faced with the possibility of having to give up in order to adopt, I feel panicky, sweaty and crazed. I can't, I just can't. Is it because I never grieved properly for my MCs? How does one just 'give up'?

nomoremagnolia · 28/03/2008 10:36

So glad it's not just me then [phew]
Her opening line is "It's so unfair, I have a daughter..." AAARRRGGGHHH Yes I can see why that's really unfair but not from you POV I'm afraid.

OP posts:
nomoremagnolia · 28/03/2008 10:38

herby I have no idea how to "give up" and unfortunately with modern medicine it's pretty impossible to reach the end of the line (until you've run out of eggs I suppose). I am so worried that we will spend so much time/effort/money on IVF for nothing and then what?

OP posts:
Ready · 28/03/2008 10:45

Nope, not just you Nomore - definitely not.

Herby I can't even begin to imagine how you must be feeling. Is there a cut off from adoption in terms of age? Perhaps you should keep trying until nearer that time? I don't think I would be able to give up. But then I am not in the same situation, so it is impossible for me to give a real response.
Big hugs for you. I do think you owe it to yourself to have a go at IVF (if that is something you can see yourself doing)

Ready · 28/03/2008 10:49

Ladies... can I ask (it'll save me adopting an alter ego for AIBU)... the house at the end of our garden has a cat (a rather cute (and fat) black and white fluffball) who likes to do his poos in our garden. I am not sure the cat is being fed properly because they are not the usual cat poos that I have seen from my mum's cats. Anyway, I digress... is it unreasonable of me to collect said poo and put it over the fence back into their garden? Only I am not happy about my garden being used as a litter tray... but I also know that it isn't the owner's fault that the cats does his business here...

nomoremagnolia · 28/03/2008 10:55

I can't see that you can do much really, except try to make your garden as un cat-friendly as possible. Legally cats are allowed to roam and the owner has no responsibility for where they go or what they do and as a cat owner I do not know how I could stop them going into other people's gardens. Cats don't like water - try throwing water over it when it comes in your garden

OP posts:
nomoremagnolia · 28/03/2008 10:58

You could throw the poo back over (not sure I'd be brave enough to ) but it's not going to solve the problem in the long term and if you're picking it up (with something I hope) then you may as well put it in the bin as throw it over the fence. I expect that throwing i back into next door's garden would encourage the cat to go in yours anyway as it would make the cat's own garden less attractive.
