@MaryShelley1818, that is reassuring news from your scan but totally understandable you are anxious about the Harmony test, pregnancy is a stressful time. I sympathise with your GD, that must be very difficult to cope with on top of all the usual worries. Flowers

MaryShelley1818 · 07/08/2020 07:55

@claireb707 @ecostats
Thank you so much for your kind messages. Hopefully get our Harmony results this time next week and if it's positive news we can relax for a little bit until the Anatomy Scan next month.
It's very stressful definitely but hopefully will be worth it xx

Russkispy · 07/08/2020 15:09

@MaryShelley1818 glad to hear about your scan. Hopefully you'll get your Harmony results soon! And they will be clear this time! Fingers crossed!

Rubyroost · 07/08/2020 18:18

@MaryShelley1818 when we're you diagnosed with gest diabetes? If it's diagnosed in first trimester it's usually undiagnosed, pre existing diabetes. It's the hormones from the placenta that usually cause the insulin resistance. It also may be why it might be more difficult for you to control. May be worth asking your doctor.

I had the blood test at my 12-wk scan (standard now instead of GTT). I had it in my last pregnancy and they said in a future pregnancy it was highly likely to be diagnosed much earlier and for it to be worse second time. It's not terrible, just 8-9 instead of 5-6.
My bloods were fine at my booking in at 8weeks, and were also tested several times prior a few mths ago when we were having all the fertility tests and they did full blood counts. I was tested at Christmas due to a general check up due to being overweight and was not even pre-diabetes so definitely can't have been pre-existing xx

Morning ladies, I've decided to lurk in the background and post only occasionally when there's something to tell you. I live in hope it will be positive news but until then...(if ever!)..I just had to tell you the difficulty we have ttc..maybe tmi so apologies. We have to sneak in dtd as and when and the last time happened was at 5am when we couldn't sleep cos of the heat. Suddenly DH sees the landing light come on and we're under the duvet when "crash!!' DS lands on top of us!! So that was that!

DH thinks that our failure to conceive is down to tap water. We were drinking spring water from a well when we conceived DS. Since then notice appeared saying not safe to drink so we've been drinking tap water ever since and nothing has happened ...not even a sniff of a Bfp. Makes you wonder Hmm

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to say hi! 👋 Hope you are all well!

So I’m 42 and we have a 4 YO DD. I got pregnant again about 18 months ago but it all went wrong at the 12wk scan. Not tried since as we wanted to give it a bit of time, plus our DD is a handful ;-) Anyway, back to TTC number 2 from this month! Need to get on the folic acid ASAP and just been recording all my stats on an app. Any tips much appreciated, do you guys test ovulation or just use an app?
Wish us luck 😘 xxx

MATTSMAMMA · 08/08/2020 11:31

@BooseysMom That made me laugh! Regarding the water - yes it does make you think doesn’t it? Can I lurk with you?

AF arrived yesterday and I had a particularly bad day all in all with my hormones wreaking complete havoc with my emotions Sad

Feel a bit better today but don’t help myself by trawling Mumsnet for posts about older mums and reading some of the self-righteous tripe some people post. Wow - some really judgemental people out there. Having said that there are some lovely ones too and the positive comments do make a difference.

For my part I think I’ll see how it goes for a couple of months and then reassess. I’m just keeping in mind how many women have had children later on in life and there are plenty when you look; Well known are Liz Earle, Dr Louise Dilner, Helen Fielding to name a few.

If it’s meant to be it will be but at least we can say we’ve tried.

Hello to everyone one and good luck xx

claireb707 · 08/08/2020 11:42

13dpo here, did a ic and bfn 😢
Although Temp, resting heart rate and breathing rate all went up today (temp considerably)
Just been out on my bike and felt sick the whole way round and a bit dizzy probably shouldn't have gone but need the exercise

Also my cervix has gone really high up this morning, higher than during ovulation 😮

Russkispy · 08/08/2020 16:12

@BooseysMom last May after one of my many MCs, I went to see a fertility coach as wanted tot try new things. She put me on alkaline diet, fertility supplements and told to drink filtered water! And in July I had a BFP. First natural conception! Coincidence or not with a new diet and filtered water, I'll never know! I was 43 then. Sadly it ended in another MCs.

We then moved on to DE route. And with that I carried on with my diet and supplements and filtered water. Our first DE transfer ended in CP.
I then switched to natural/organic hair shampoo, conditioner, body wash and face cream. No nail varnish. And with a combination of various meds from my doc, our 2nd DE FET worked. And I'm 27 weeks today.

I'd say to try anything and everything so we can say, at least we gave ourselves 110%!

Still in the background and rooting for you all!

Rubyroost · 08/08/2020 19:13

Ahhhh I see @MaryShelley1818 sorry didn't realise youre a second timer. Good luck with your diet and keeping sugars down. Will you be on insulin this time then?

Rubyroost · 08/08/2020 19:15

@Russkispy that's excellent news, i hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly.

Hopefully123 · 08/08/2020 19:51

Hi @Russkispy. Great news, enjoy your pregnancy and hope everything goes well. I too have been in touch with the same fertility coach and omg she is so good and has extreme knowledge with regards to fertility. I am taking various supplements and have changed my diet too. So hopefully time will tell I suppose. Shes really a sweet lady if anybody wants her details let me know happy to share her details.

Russkispy · 08/08/2020 20:09

@Rubyroost thank you!

@Hopefully123 yes, I had one full day with her. And followed her programme to the tee. And even though I fell pregnant, sadly ended in a MC, I just couldn't carry on with natural conception anymore. I was 43 and had 4 MCs by then. Heartache was too much to bear from one cycle to the next.

BooseysMom · 08/08/2020 20:34

@MATTSMAMMA..you're more than welcome to lurk with me! I won't feel so lonely. Smile
It's a good philosophy..as you say at least we can say we tried. Although I wasn't very good at trying and now wish I'd tried harder! Confused
Glad you're feeling better. I had the AF from hell itself this time round! It's really calmed down now but still get the symptoms of peri coming all the time.

@Russkispy ..it's amazing isn't it? And it makes me shudder to think what's actually in tap water. I know they say it's clean but how come you hear stories about it affecting fertility??
DE must be the way to go and with adjustments to diet and supplements it sounds like the perfect combination for you. Great to hear after your losses. Flowers

Good luck and bd to all x

MaryShelley1818 · 08/08/2020 21:25

@Rubyroost

Ahhhh I see *@MaryShelley1818* sorry didn't realise youre a second timer. Good luck with your diet and keeping sugars down. Will you be on insulin this time then?
No not at all, I appreciate you trying to help, definitely could have been very useful xx

I'm not sure atm as my numbers aren't "that high" but not sure what the benchmark is. I didn't need it last time and controlled it very easily but it's very different this second time. I'm seeing the consultant on Tuesday and imagine they'll start with metformin and possibly move on to insulin later if that doesn't control it. Xx

SomnolentSekhmet · 08/08/2020 21:51

@Hopefully123 if you could pm me details of your fertility coach that'd be great. 14 days after my miscarriage here and testing negative so hopefully gearing up to ovulate soon. Ideally after this heatwave cos right now I feel like a greasy beached whale xD

SomnolentSekhmet · 08/08/2020 21:54

@MaryShelley1818 All the best for your repeat harmony test :)

Thank you lovely, ridiculously anxious about it, just hope we get the results by Friday so we don't have to wait another weekend xx
