My period has not returned two weeks ago as expected. Since I started TTC again and when my periods returned, they have not been late. They have been closer than they used to be and around 23 or 24 days apart, less bleeding than in my youth. I am 43 and concerned as a TTC number 3. I have two children, the youngest is 2. But I am wondering if this might be the per menopause? Has anyone else had their periods go missing when they were not pregnant? Thanks.

weediva · 16/02/2021 20:44

@FutureMum Hi! I have been watching this post last couple of years but took some time away and just came back on to see updates. I'm the same as you. My periods have just stopped altogether. I had an ectopic in 2018 and after that my cycle was exactly 26 days (previously was 28 days bang on every month). I had a miscarriage Jan 20 and since then periods all over the place around 24 days but longest cycle was about 34 days. I'm now on day 50 😫. I'm 45 so expect it is the dreaded menopause but still clinging onto hope that it could be medication I'm on (amytripteline, cocodamol and neproxen for sciatica). It's horrible as I keep hoping for af so I can try for the next couple of months until I finally give up on idea of ttc#2

FutureMum · 26/02/2021 20:47

@Weediva, hope you are well. At least the period did return, it kind of skipped one, oddly. So I’ll be clinging on to hope that we might still be lucky enough to conceive again over the coming months. I do know of two mums who had their children at 45, so there is still a bit of a chance. Almost 44 here. Take care.

Twochews78 · 26/02/2021 21:23

Hello, I’m new here and hoping I can join?
I’m 42, 43 in June. I had my first child when I was 31 with an ex and my 2nd at 41 with my husband. I thought I was done but now we are going to start trying for baby number 3!

SamoyedFan123 · 26/02/2021 21:29

Welcome ladies! This thread used to be really busy but recently has gone very quiet - maybe we can revive it! I think only me and @Chatbash72 were still using it recently. Good luck to you all xxx

Anxiousbuthopeful · 26/02/2021 21:56

Hello everyone, just popping in to say hello. I am also 43 in July and TTC #1. Keep feeling like it will never happen but have a friend who just got pregnant at very nearly 44 after more than two years of attempts. So here’s hoping for all of us!

Sunbird24 · 26/02/2021 23:00

Hi all, I am now 43, and had 2 frozen embryos transferred last Friday after the fresh transfer in October ended with a MMC in November. I think I’ve just got a rather slim positive rather than a big fat one...

SamoyedFan123 · 26/02/2021 23:07

@Sunbird24 ooh that sounds promising - tentative congrats! So sorry to hear that your fresh transfer ended in a MMC. 🤞🤞🤞 For a better outcome this time. I'm also 43 and almost 21 weeks pregnant from a FET in October.

Sunbird24 · 26/02/2021 23:09

Congrats @SamoyedFan123! Did you used to have a different name?

SamoyedFan123 · 26/02/2021 23:15

@sunbird24 thank you, yes I was CritterTamer originally.

Sunbird24 · 26/02/2021 23:24

I thought I’d seen you posting on here back near the beginning, honestly not a crazy stalker!

It’s a crap photo but I’m not imagining things am I? Mind you, after last time I still won’t be able to get too excited 🤷🏻‍♀️

SamoyedFan123 · 26/02/2021 23:29

I think I've been on this thread since the first thread, and this is number 6!
That's a pretty clear line for 7dpt. Day 5/6 transfer I assume? I tested at 9dpt and it wasn't a lot stronger than that.
Not to stress you out or anything, but last time I had a double transfer it resulted in twins..... Just saying 😁

Sunbird24 · 26/02/2021 23:39

Yes, 7dp5dt. OTD is the 5th but AF would be due on the 2nd.

Honestly if I end up with 2 I’ll find a way to make it work (hire some help to start with most likely!) and discard the rest of the embryos. I’ll be asking for tips and advice from you super twin mums too!

SamoyedFan123 · 26/02/2021 23:42

@sunbird24 just dug out my test pic from 9dpt for you - your line is good!

Thank you so much! It’s so easy to wind yourself up isn’t it?
I’m going to my parents tomorrow, they don’t even know I’ve had the transfer this time, and if it sticks I’ll be due a day after my mum’s birthday. Don’t know how I’ll manage to keep my mouth shut, but it was 11 days after I told them last time that I found out there was no heartbeat so want to get past that point if I can this time

SamoyedFan123 · 26/02/2021 23:57

@sunbird24 I don't blame you for wanting to wait. The first 12 weeks are terrifying, even more so at our age. My parents knew all about our fresh cycles, but this time I was utterly convinced it wasn't going to work (first FET failed, and this second one was with a slightly poorer quality embryo and I had on/off bleeding from the time 1 got my BFP until just over 6 weeks so was sure it wouldnt stick), so we waited until 12 weeks to tell the family. Was going to do it at Xmas Dinner but then Xmas got cancelled (and we caught covid!) so ended up telling them on a video chat on Xmas evening 😊

Twochews78 · 27/02/2021 06:52

Congratulations Sunbird24, I hope it all goes well for you!

Twochews78 · 27/02/2021 06:55

Considering to you also Samoyedfan123. How has your pregnancy been so far?

You had Covid when pregnant? Sounds a worrying time!

Twochews78 · 27/02/2021 06:56

Good luck Anxiousbuthopefull! I’ve read lots of stories of people getting pregnant around 43 and beyond!

SamoyedFan123 · 27/02/2021 07:12

@Twochews78 thank you. Yes I got Covid when I was 10 weeks pregnant. Was really unpleasant and I was poorly for a good 5 weeks in all. I still can't smell properly now! Didn't help that i still had horrible nausea and fatigue at that point I guess, but it didn't seem to affect baby despite how awful i felt. So far this pregnancy has been tough, much more uncomfortable than my first which was twins so I've been surprised about how awful I've felt. I think naughty because I've vomited much less this time, which has meant that the nausea has actually been worse as little relief from it, plus the twin pregnancy wrecked my abdominal muscles so I've had miserable back ache and an uncomfortable bump from early on this time. Been feeling a lot better since 20 weeks though 😊

Twochews78 · 27/02/2021 07:37

That must have been so worrying! You must have felt rotten. How old are your twins? I had a really tough pregnancy with my daughter. I kept getting infections in my body including my teeth, so felt really run down most of the time. Then I had irritable uterus for 4 weeks and was threatening early labour. I was having contractions for the last 4 weeks and couldn’t walk or bend down without having one! It was so weird, thankfully they weren’t sore.

Could you maybe get a massage? I know it can be weird as you’re on your side for it, but might help.

Feeling nauseous is awful, I had it with my daughter too. I couldn’t lie beside my husband as his smell was making me ill, ha. Poor man.

gizmo167 · 01/03/2021 13:09

Not sure if anyone will remember me! I am 42, 43 later this month! Had mc at 6 weeks in January 2020 and another at same stage just a couple of weeks ago. Had a clear test a couple days ago so all is definitely over. Decided that if I dont get BFP by the summer then its all over!

CD16 for me, no idea of ov, been dtd every other day so fc!

SamoyedFan123 · 01/03/2021 15:59

@gizmo167 hi, I remember you (CritterTamer). So sorry to hear about your losses. Its very encouraging that you cad get pregnant quite easily though, so don't give up hope yet. Hopefully a sticky one will come along very soon for you 🤞🤞🤞

@Twochews78 sorry just realised I didn't answer your question - the twins are 21 months now. A massage sounds amazing but if think they're all closed down at the moment? Thank god my nausea has gotten much better over the last couple of weeks!

Twochews78 · 02/03/2021 19:00

No worries! Lovely! Yes of course, they are. That’s good as it can be rough going.

Anxiousbuthopeful · 02/03/2021 19:54

Hello! I am a bit glum at the moment. I’d somehow convinced myself that this was my month to fall naturally (despite a wonky period for a post IVF cyst). At 11 DPO now, and this morning I went to my doctor for a check up. Endometrium 6mm. That’s unlikely to be harbouring a very very early pregnancy isn’t it? Can’t bring myself to test and be disappointed. I know it is a little silly and the odds each month are low, but I’d had a feeling this was it!
