@Catconfusion Aw hun losses are so awful. I had one in 2012 and it’s something I don’t want a repeat of! My weight is awful too! I put 5 stone on with my first son at age 24 but lost it pretty soon after ( within 8 months). As the years have gone on the weight has increased so by the time I got pregnant I was 12.5 stone. I only put on 3 stone this time as i was really careful ( he was a big baby too first was 8lb 11 and this one 8lb 5) but I haven’t lost the weight in Fact I’ve only lost a stone!

Hi everyone, I was on one of the older threads under a different name in 2019. I had a mmc last June and deleted my mumsnet account as I wanted a clean break. But now I'm back and hoping I could join you all again. I recognise some of your names, it's great to see there have been some babies, but sorry to see others still are trying.

My story is I'm 43 and have an almost 4 year old who I had no trouble conceiving, we started trying again when they were a year old and had an ectopic in 2018 which luckily resolved itself without surgery. I got pregnant again last April but at a 10 weeks scan a mmc was discovered which later tests showed to be due to T21. Since then I've not had a sniff of a BFP although according to opks I am still ovulating. I had my FSH tested last month and it was at 6.1 and my cycles are still regular so I don't think I am perimenopausal yet, but who knows!

Anyway just saying hi and checking back into this tread :)

SamoyedFan123 · 10/11/2020 06:26

@Catconfusion @Realitysucks thank you so much. Its lovely to hear from you both😊 I'm anxiously waiting for the result from my follow up beta HCG test. Not feeling too positive about it as I've been getting spotting on and off over the last week and a half. My consultant thinks it's probably just implantation bleeding but I'm not convinced.

whatever1980 · 10/11/2020 11:16

Can I ask everyone - do you keep testing after you've recorded a peak please?

I don't in order to save sticks but I'm thinking maybe I should in order to see a pattern ie keep testing until CD1

Catconfusion · 10/11/2020 13:17

Hi @Constance1 I’m so sorry to hear about everything you’ve been through. It must be tough considering your first child came easily. Has you doctor offered to do any more testing or offered any more support? I guess at our age it’s difficult to know what egg quality is like. I keep wondering if we just got lucky with our son. I had all my hormones tested last year after our two losses and everything was normal but I still worry due to age. Hope you get some good luck soon! Xx

Catconfusion · 10/11/2020 13:22

@SamoyedFan123 I can imagine you’re anxious. It must be so nerve wracking with the spotting. I do know a fair few people who had this and everything was ok so fingers crossed it works out for you. Xx

Catconfusion · 10/11/2020 19:21

Hey @Realitysucks it’s so hard I think with lockdown as well to be motivated to lose weight. Also having a baby makes it difficult. As soon as we have a bad night the diet goes out the window. I’m trying to be more active and not use food to medicate myself when I’m sleep deprived. The problem is a bmi of over 30 can lead to issues and I know I’ll feel awful if we have another loss and I wasn’t at a healthier weight so definitely want to lose some before we try. Xx

Catconfusion · 10/11/2020 19:24

@whatever1980 I’m not really sure. It xx all depends how regular your cycles are. In the past I’ve kept testing as I sometimes get false peaks and my body gears up again the following week. But then I have very irregular periods. Personally I find temping more accurate. Xx

SamoyedFan123 · 10/11/2020 19:47

So follow up beta HCG came back at over 5000 which is spot on where it should be so the clinic are very happy with that. The bad news is that the consultant thinks my recurrent spotting is happening because the pregnancy has implanted on a blood vessel, which means it's probably going to keep happening 😭

@Catconfusion

Hi *@Constance1* I’m so sorry to hear about everything you’ve been through. It must be tough considering your first child came easily. Has you doctor offered to do any more testing or offered any more support? I guess at our age it’s difficult to know what egg quality is like. I keep wondering if we just got lucky with our son. Morning! Thanks for your message. I'm the same, we were both checked out last year and everything was normal. My AMH was a bit low at 3.1 but as my FSH is low the consultant didn't think this was a problem. We did get a bit disheartened a few months ago, but we've decided to just keep trying until we either catch a good egg, or I hit menopause! Will you keep trying indefinitely or will you put a timeframe on it? We had originally said we'd keep trying until the end of the year, but I think we'll just keep going.

I'm taking loads of supplements as outlined in the 'it starts with the egg' book and I am currently losing weight - I've lost 2 stone over the past 6 months and have 1 more to go as I've read a lot about how fat messes with our hormones. I figure it can't hurt and it might help and it makes me feel as I am doing something positive. I've also been doing Yoga Yin's fertility yoga on YouTube. Finger crossed for us all! x

Catconfusion · 11/11/2020 10:55

Yay @SamoyedFan123 I’m really pleased for you. Sorry to hear about the blood vessel. Does the doctor feel this is safe? Hopefully it’ll be an annoying symptom that doesn’t impact on the baby. I can imagine it’s triggering though and I hope it gets better. Xx

Catconfusion · 11/11/2020 11:03

Hey @Constance1 good news the consultant was pleased with your results. Hopefully it’s just extremely bad luck. You’re right though, losing weight and taking supplements can’t help. I’ve just started a big push to get my bmi down before we start trying early next year.

My AMH wasn’t tested as we fell pregnant last year before we saw the consultant. My FSH was bang on normal though so my GP felt I was a long way off menopause. She said it’s difficult to determine egg quality without more tests but all signs look good. I’ve fallen pregnant the only 3 times I’ve tried so I’m hoping this bodes well, even though we lost the first two.

We’ve said we’ll try for a year although we might keep going depending on what’s happened. A friend of mine fell pregnant at 43 and was 44 when she gave birth and had no problems so that’s inspired me that it can happen at our age.

Well done on the weight loss and fertility yoga. I think it’s so hard at the moment to lose weight with lockdown etc.

I’m taking co q 10 and my pregnacare max I took in pregnancy as it seems to have good levels of everything in it. I might take a probiotic as I’ve heard gut health helps.

Fingers crossed that it all pays off. Xx

SamoyedFan123 · 11/11/2020 11:14

@catconfusion thank you. Yes the doctor says it shouldn't cause any issues, just on and off minor bleeds up until 14 weeks when implantation is fully complete.

Catconfusion · 11/11/2020 16:10

@SamoyedFan123 that’s great news. I guess all you can do now is keep busy and try to stay positive. I’m hoping I do get to go through the first trimester again but also dreading it to some extent. Just take each day as it comes and before long you’ll be over the most worrying stage. Xx

MaryShelley1818 · 12/11/2020 07:03
@SamoyedFan123, congratulations! It's such a rollercoaster, it's probably good to step away sometimes.
I'm nearly 12 weeks now, just waiting for the harmony test results.
@lucieloos
, I may check out the thread you mentioned, it sounds appropriate!
@MaryShelley1819, hope you're doing well.
Sorry I've just seen this!
Hope you're doing well too lovely xx Good luck for your Harmony results. Hope you have them soon.

I'm doing well. I'm now 27wks pregnant and they're inducing me at 37wks so only 10wks to go!
I have a growth scan in a week and a half so not long before I get to see her again but she reassures me she's fine with her constant kicking! Her big brother (3 next month) loves feeling it and is so excited!
I'm keeping busy with work and study with my last assignment due 17/12 and finish work the next day. In a fit of madness we decided to do renovations so at the end of the month we have builders descending on us to rip out 2 bathrooms, install a new boiler and a full loft conversion. There's 6 of them so they're planning to finish 1-2wks before baby arrives. Christmas will be hectic this year! 😂😂

Huge congratulations @SamoyedFan123 too, I remember you Critter xx

ecostats · 12/11/2020 11:44

@MaryShelley1818, so good to hear you're doing well, and only 10 weeks to go?! I remember doing some ambitious house renovations when I was expecting our daughter, I think pregnancy kind of sets off the need to have a nice home!
My harmony test came back fine, I'm really glad we got that reassurance, and it's a boy. I'm still finding it stressful after 2 mcs but just taking things one day at a time.

Russkispy · 13/11/2020 15:03

Hi everyone, hope you're still remembering me. I'm still around and rooting for you all!

Our beautiful son was born last Wednesday and we came home the following day. I've been recovering ever since and feeling human again. He's a very chilled baby and let us sleep long spells. Our DD absolutely adores him 😘 despite having embryos on ice, this is my very last pregnancy. My family is complete now. It's been a long journey to have our son and now he's here, I'm going to enjoy our family!

SamoyedFan123 · 13/11/2020 15:16

Aww, congratulations @Russkispy, that's wonderful news xxx (this is CritterTamer btw)
