My period has arrived today as expected 😢

Not sure how much longer I cam keep doing this, 14 cycles and not even a hint of a line 😢

Am swaying more and more towards the adoption idea at the moment

abouquetofsharpenedpencils · 20/10/2020 19:07

Hello! May I join please? This is my first post on MN .
I am 42 and have been ttc for a while now.
I am finding the journey to be very hard and have felt tremendously isolated and sad at times. Discovering this thread has been very encouraging and you all seem like such a lovely bunch 🥰 With the exception of 1 friend, you are the only ones who understand. Sometimes comments from colleagues/friends/family can be really hurtful 😢
I wish us success on our journeys! 💫

claireb7rg · 22/10/2020 11:57

Now on cd5 but think I'm done, I'm not going to open a new box of opks (have an unopened box of cbd advanced sticks in the cupboard) and am getting fed up of temping for it to go nowhere

I've cried myself to sleep the last few nights as I think I'm grieving for the child we can't have. And in fact typing that has just set me off again 😢.

Good luck to all of you but think I'll only pop back in to update you after our fertility app on the 11th November as its too hard to be on here now

Dollymixture77 · 22/10/2020 13:35

@claireb7rg

Oh Claire how bloody cruel this whole process can be. I'm so sorry that it feels like you're getting nowhere. I can understand why you need to take a break. It can be all too life consuming.

Good luck with your fertility appointment.. Sending lots of positive vibes your way

Always here 🤍

Springroll89 · 22/10/2020 16:45

I'm so sorry @claireb7rg I know just how you feel. I feel like I've sort of come to some kind of acceptance after 2 years of trying and just 1 chemical pregnancy in that time.

I am feeling more ok about the whole thing and while I still dream that it may happen, I think some time has brought me some kind of peace.

I hope it happens for you, or you are able to feel a bit happier about it all xx

dobzyj · 22/10/2020 17:11

Is this still a live thread?

dobzyj · 22/10/2020 17:12

I'm 40 and ttc first

dobzyj · 22/10/2020 17:13

@claireb7rg are you ttc first?

dobzyj · 22/10/2020 17:14

@abouquetofsharpenedpencils hello I've just joined. Is it your first?

dobzyj · 22/10/2020 17:23

@janed9388 you have today Mande me smile and it's Made me relax a little. I'm 40 ttc first and I had my tubes flushed last October. Using clearblue sticks because I can't cope with normal sticks. What is the monitor and did you stick to your cycles religiously? I just am trying to time it right but don't want it to turn regimental because DP hates it and just won't have it

abouquetofsharpenedpencils · 22/10/2020 18:22

@dobzyj yes, my first

dobzyj · 23/10/2020 08:35

@abouquetofsharpenedpencils same as me then. I'm 40. It's so nice to talk to like minded people who understand. Theres friends who think they understand but they've already got kids so me they can't possibly. How long have to you been ttc?

abouquetofsharpenedpencils · 23/10/2020 16:00

@dobzyj yes, it really is so nice to talk to people in the same boat! I totally agree. Been ttc for 2 years now, and had been feeling like giving up, but this thread has really kept me going. How long have you been trying?

abouquetofsharpenedpencils · 23/10/2020 16:19

@claireb7rg I know I don’t “know” you or any of the other ladies on here as have only just joined but just wanted to say I really felt your pain and sadness in your message. It is a soul-crushing experience. Month in, month out, not even the faintest shadow of line. I understand all too well. Be kind to yourself, allow yourself a break from it all, forget all about temping and opks for a short while, go and do something nice for yourself. Then, fertility appointment next month - then you can permit yourself to start thinking about it again. Until then, look after yourself x

Chickoletta · 25/10/2020 09:48

Hi,
Some of you may remember me as I was on previous threads. Just checking back in as things have taken an ‘interesting’ turn...

I’m 41 with DCs aged 7 & 10. I had a MMC in April - discovered at 11 weeks, MCed naturally at 12 but babies (twins) stopped developing at 6/7. Then in July I had a chemical. That was it, we said. I threw out all of the OPKs etc and decided to just get on with life and count our blessings. Planning to book DH in for a vasectomy ASAP, condoms in the meantime.

This month, we got a bit carried away (😳) and I’ve just got a BFP on a FRER at CD25. Thrilled, of course, but also scared. Please hold my hand, lovely ladies.

@claireb7rg - I don’t know how this will turn out for me, but there is definitely something to be said for getting rid of all the ‘kit’ and letting nature decide. If you are thinking of adopting anyway (so are we if this doesn’t work out), why not just let nature take its course. The OPKs never worked for me anyway. Thinking of you though as I’ve been where you are.

dobzyj · 25/10/2020 10:18

@abouquetofsharpenedpencils ttc since last july 19 but not properly. I went to have my tubes flushed in oct last year and was told by consultant that naturally there is no issue why it should it happen. I'm ovulating and DP sperm is a good count. He's 42. I used clearblue sticks a while then got sick of keep doing it and nothing happening so stopped a while and kind of gave up. Started trying 2 months ago again. I'm in the 2WW now on 6DPO but just know in my head that AF is coming. People say the more you plan it the more it won't happen and to just let nature take its course when you're at my age and it's what you think about and your body clock it's hard. If I was younger I probably wouldn't think about it as much. Where are you in your cycle

whatever1980 · 25/10/2020 11:28

@Chickoletta good luck!

Fishergirl · 25/10/2020 12:23

Hi all, I've posted on your thread previously a while ago. I'm 43 now and we're still trying for a sibling for our little boy.. I haven't had a sniff of a bfp since my mc in February though. I've been taking ubiquinol for the past couple of months so am hoping this helps. I'm currently 11dpo ish and haven't had any spotting like I normally do each cycle. I woke up in the middle of the night and did a frer (I couldn't wait until morning!) but I don't think there's any line. ☹️
I was just wondering if any of you ladies are cutting back on alcohol while TTC?

Fishergirl · 25/10/2020 12:24

Lovely news @Chickoletta!

porger80 · 25/10/2020 12:35

@Fishergirl I'm interested in the same thing, have you ladies given up/cut down on alcohol? I have cut down but am not alcohol free. Does anyone think it makes a massive difference? Been TTC #2 for a year (MMC and CP in that time). Going another year without booze and still no BFP just seems utterly depressing... but that may say more about my relationship with wine than anything else!

lucieloos · 25/10/2020 13:16

Just to give some hope maybe. I'm 41 and have 2 young children which were conceived through many rounds of ivf. Always wanted one more but never thought it would happen but I recently found out I'm pregnant. We only had sex once the day before ovulation. So it definitely can still happen at this age. I'm 5+3 now. Still a long way to go but fingers crossed things work out.

Dollymixture77 · 25/10/2020 13:47

Oooo SO lovely to hear all your happy news 😍😍😍😍 Crossing everything I have for all of you 🙏

In answer to the ladies asking about going without booze (😏) I've read a great deal of research about alcohol being a possible cause of miscarriage even in the early days. I've always had a few wines during the baby making days.. But I've decided to lay off it for a bit following 2 close MCs just to give my body the best possible chance.

What are everybody else's thoughts 💭 xx

Rubyroost · 25/10/2020 14:15

Great to hear the good new on this thread and I really hope your pregnancies are healthy and continue. I don't know what the evidence is that you cite re alcohol causing miscarriage, but I believe most miscarriages are chromosomal, esp in our age group. I never gave up alcohol, I've had 2 miscarriages a termination and 2 live births. 🤷🏼‍♀️

DigiSmith · 25/10/2020 14:36

We have been ttc for 18 months now and this last cycle I ov’d according to my Clearblue app kit on cd12. Now I’m 28 dpo and 9 days late according to my app. I’m exhausted all the time an have creamy cm.
I thought maybe I’d missed a period and worried that I was missing ov again and so did an OPK again but got peak! I’m quite confused now and still no sign of af. I’ve had 4 bfn results but still no AF.
Anyone know about this or experienced the same?

Rubyroost · 25/10/2020 15:54

@DigiSmith I used to use my ovulation tests as cheap pregnancy tests. They can double up, perhaps you are pregnant?
