Pregnancy after MMC

Hi Everyone,
Unfortunately I had a MMC on our second pregnancy last month. (I have a 1 year old)
I should of been 9 weeks at my Scan but baby was only 8 weeks 4 so it had just happened. 3 days later I had a private D&C as I didn’t want to risk the hospital/ the trauma of dealing with it at home with my little boy.
I had bleeding on and off for 2 weeks after (6th of April was the D&C) I had regular bloody tests, my last one my HCG had come down to 70 so 3 days later I got my first negative test.
I had an internal to confirm no retained pregnancy and was given the all clear to try again straight away. I’ve had cystitis this weekend to add to my problems and now I’m getting this on my tests. Had anyone experienced anything similar, what are your thoughts? Feel like my body’s just giving up on me haha! I’d love to be pregnant again but I’d just be surprised if it could all happen within such a small time scale
Thanks everyone

Hi everyone! Sadly I’m posting as I’m also in this club. I found out in February at a 10 week scan that the baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks 4 days and had a D and C shortly thereafter. It was my first pregnancy and we got pregnant the first cycle of trying so it was all a bit of a shock. I had also started telling some friends and family after the 8 week scan showed a heartbeat so was even harder to have to tell everyone about it when they were checking in on me. Anyway, wanted to let people know that it took 8.5 weeks after the procedure for AF to arrive. I was getting very worried about how long it was taking but it took me almost 4 weeks to get a negative pregnancy test and I think it’s right that it’s only then that your body resets. I had been googling and was getting worried about having Asherman’s syndrome (basically a complication from the surgery) but of course right after I made an appointment with my doctor AF returned! We are trying this cycle and fingers crossed everything is working normally but it is comforting to hear what other people have gone through and I hope we are all in the majority of people who go on to have successful healthy pregnancies after miscarriages! X

@LondonYankee379 Welcome! So sorry for your loss - I found it really hard telling people I'd got excited with and started planning things with, it's definitely made me more cautious about telling fewer people next time.

I think AF turned up yesterday CD 33. Very very light though (I don't normally have very heavy cycles anyway but was much much lighter than normal) so I'm hoping that it'll just pick up now and in a week or so I'll be getting out the OPK once again.

Hope you're all enjoying a restful bank holiday weekend 💕

MrsTtobe · 10/05/2020 10:00

@Frankincense88 I'm CD 33 today too so hopefully my AF not too far away and I can just get it out of the way. Did you have natural miscarriage or procedure? Do you think it makes any difference to when AF arrives whether you've had natural miscarriage or the procedure?

Welcome @LondonYankee379 what a worry for you and sorry for your loss. I found it so hard having to tell everyone it had happened. We had pretty much told everyone after our 8 week scan. I was 11 weeks when I miscarried.

I've saw some women ovulate straight away and AF comes 28 days after miscarriage and ive saw some women like yourself where it has taken a little longer and some that it has taken months so I guess it's just a waiting game for me although I've had all the signs this week of AF. Sore boobs, bad skin, mild cramping, OH pissing me off 🤣so praying im pregnant but guessing it's just AF on the way soon.

Frankincense88 · 10/05/2020 10:13

@MrsTtobe I had 2 x doses of the medication as the first lot didn't work. I'm not sure about whether means of management can relate to how long it takes your body to settle back into a natural cycle - I think it has something to do with how regular you were pre MMC but not 100% sure! Hopefully yours arrives soon so you can have peace of mind! Xx

@Frankincense88 thank you. Just want to be able to start trying again properly and knowing where I stand with my cycles. I feel useless at the minute.

Frankincense88 · 10/05/2020 10:51

@MrsTtobe me too! I've had next to nothing today after thinking that AF has started so don't know what to think now! Xx

MrsTtobe · 10/05/2020 10:56

@Frankincense88 could you be pregnant at all and it's implantation blood? Your on CD 33 same as me aren't you? Have you dtd much since miscarriage?

Frankincense88 · 10/05/2020 11:30

@MrsTtobe I doubt it - we've only done it twice, CD 26 and 28 so I think probably too late. I usually ovulate around day 16-18. It's all very confusing 😩 x

MrsBlue1986 · 10/05/2020 21:06

Hi all again. Hope were all ok. Its kinda comforting knowing other people are in a similar boat.

So after finding out our miscarriage on wednesday, ive just burst out crying finding out one of our friends is now pregnant 😭

Im really hoping this month i ovulate. I always have a 28 day cycle. My miscsrriage bleeding has stopped in less than 4 days. So i am assuming i should ovulate next week?

Because i only miscarried at 5 weeks, I'm hoping that this early stage means my cycle will still be normal??

Is it possibly/likely i could get pregnant again this month!?!? X

MrsTtobe · 10/05/2020 21:19

Hi @MrsBlue1986 I really hope it's possible for you. My miscarriage was at 11 weeks but im still hoping ive ovulated and dreaming im pregnant 😂🙏 I'm on cd33 and no period. Definitely got tender boobs so guessing AF on the way or by some miracle I'm pregnant x

MrsBlue1986 · 10/05/2020 21:28

@mrsttobe Hey. I only ask, because, today would be 5 days in to my "cycle", and i already have wet CM. Is this even possible ? Its normally only 1 week after a period i get this! Did you get that? Xx

MrsTtobe · 10/05/2020 22:56

@MrsBlue1986 well to be honest im not sure what's going on with my body. I had ewcm about 2 weeks after my miscarriage so about 2 weeks ago now so fully expected AF to have arrived but ive heard how sometimes you don't ovulate first cycle after miscarriage so I don't know what to think. I'm just going to wait till Fri and if I still haven't come on I will do a test.

Frankincense88 · 11/05/2020 09:30

Morning ladies,

AF in full swing now - usually would only be 4/5 days long so hopefully will begin OPK testing around the 19th. Flo says I'm due to ovulate on the 21st but whenever I used them before I found I ovulated around day 16 rather than 14 so we shall see!

MrsTtobe · 11/05/2020 09:54

@Frankincense88 at least you know where you stand now lovely. It's always shit to see AF but almost comforting after a miscarriage so you know your body is doing its thing again and you can get on with ttc.
Im still in limbo... just waiting.

Happy Monday everyone xx

Frankincense88 · 11/05/2020 09:57

@MrsTtobe hoping you get some answers soon! Whether that is AF or a BFP! Are you going to give it another few days before testing? Xx

Leaf87 · 11/05/2020 10:30

@MrsTtobe cycle day 38 over here..... no sign as yet... had mild cramping yesterday. I have no idea what going on!
Sorry I have been quite for a few days I have been enjoying the weather!!

@Frankincense88 at least now AF has shown up you have a good starting block and should be able to track things easier.

@MrsBlue1986 I know what you mean a week after my D&C my husbands cousin announced she is due a baby...... a week after we should have been due. I was insanely jealous then felt bad that I wasnt happy for them. I am happy for them but I had that 'that should have been us' feeling normal I think!!

msanne · 11/05/2020 10:30

Hi All,

Just wanted to send some good vibes out there to all of us.

Whether we have just found out bad news, waiting for AF (to start or end) or a BFP - we will all get through this!

Stay strong!

xoxo

MrsTtobe · 11/05/2020 10:38

Aww I love how nice we all are on here. Makes everything so much easier having girls to talk to about it all that know exactly how each other feels.

@Frankincense88 I'm not sure what to do. I'm not sure im emotionally strong enough to deal with a negative pregnancy test just yet. It would send me over the edge 😂 so just going to keep waiting I guess. Only CD 34 so not sure? Cycles pre miscarriage were 26ish days but I know they can change your cycle dramatically.

@Leaf87 yes weather has been lovely. What are you thinking? Are you going to test? Have you been dtd?

Morning @msanne thank you 😘 Yes positive vibes for us all xx

Leaf87 · 11/05/2020 11:20

@MrsTtobe I am going to hold off till end of May I think before testing, we have been DTD but I would be very surprised if I am pregnant as my hormones have been all over the shop. Also like you said by not testing at least I dont get a negative test Hmm

MrsTtobe · 11/05/2020 11:36

@Leaf87 im the same with my hormones. Im usually fairly laid back but my oh is fully driving me mad just breathing. I need to just man up and test really so I can get on with it 😂 but I haven't taken one since my positive back in Feb. The hospital said I should take one 3 weeks after my miscarriage to check it was negative but I couldn't bring myself to. 😥
The thing I hate most in the world are negative pregnancy tests. 😂 x

Leaf87 · 11/05/2020 12:20

@MrsTtobe I got a negative pregnancey test last Tuesday, so not sure can you ovulate while still getting a positive test?
So working off that I guessing AF could show up around the end of May maybe??
I am just trying to behave as normal..... however saying that about to do a work out and half of me wants to take out all the jumping.... Confused do you assume you cod be pregnant and then face disappointment or assume your not and then feel guilty..... #askingforafriend Hmm

Bells993 · 11/05/2020 13:37

Hey girls, sorry the days blend into one at the moment don’t they. Just caught up on the thread.

@MrsTtobe still no AF? That’s so positive. Fingers crossed for you, your going to wait till the end of the month are you? Don’t know how you fight the urge. I keep resisting every morning to re test 😂 waisted so much money on tests from amazon it’s a joke!

@Leaf87 I’ve read so many mixed messages online of some people saying the ovulated a week after some 2 weeks after negative. I have no idea as I had days of not bleeding for 5 days then a day then off again for 3 weeks so I’ve been all over the place. God knows when to expect an AF or results on a test.

@Frankincense88 ahh sorry you’ve come on! But Exciting now that you’ve got your cycle straight now hopefully to start fresh this month and next. I’m sick of waiting just to see if I have one.

@MrsBlue1986 ahh I’m sorry! I said to my partner ever since my MC all I see is people on social media announcing pregnancy’s and it’s horrible! Hopefully your hormones come down quick and you can start trying again

@Leaf87 😂 took out all the jumping 😂 bless you. Im just jealous you are working out. I just keep eating biscuits instead. 🙈 It's so hard isn't it. Like I keep acting like im still pregnant even though the miscarriage for over 4 weeks ago now. 😔

@Bells993 hey lovely. 😂 I'm so glad I don't have any tests in the house or I would have caved by now. 😂 I might just pick one up next time im out if I haven't come on by Friday.

And yes the whole world is bloody pregnant. 😭
Im like 90% happy 10%jealous (for any FRIENDS fans - Rachel quote) 😂

MrsTtobe · 12/05/2020 15:04

CD35 here! Still no AF and no obvious signs of it really other than tender boobs! 🤷‍♀️
