Hello Ladies.

I’m mid 30s ttc my first. I was on the depo before, I know that causes issues to fertility and it will take longer. It was three months before my periods came back but I’ve been regular as clockwork since. Fairly certain I’m ovulating (lot of signs pointing to it) but still no baby. Im due again in the next couple of days and I can tell I’m going to come on.

I tried with my ex a few years ago for 7/8 months (although it was a very half hearted and not really a surprise it didn’t happen.) I wanted a baby for different reasons back then and got very upset every month. I was determined not to get as upset and try be more relaxed with my new partner but I’m starting to find it hard.

How do you cope with the disappointment of another failed cycle?

@PinkFlamingoGirl @notyetamumbuttrying finally figured it out....thanks for your help. I worry about myself sometimes...😂😂

Another book which might be of interest if anyone is really into the science of is "it starts with the egg". It's quite full on as she discusses clinical trials and various supplements. I found it really interesting, but I'm a bit obsessed with medical/sciency stuff. I got it for free with a trial of Amazon audible a few weeks ago, so might still be on offer.

notyetamumbuttrying · 01/06/2020 15:00

Yay @Posy1!!
And thanks for the other tip! 😉

Hoping41 · 01/06/2020 15:03

Thanks for ask the book recommendations - I'm also going to get the impatient woman's guide. I was sold when you mentioned it was short 🤣 I read the smep one as it's free on kindle and I definitely learnt from that so here's hoping. I also don't have the @ button on my app but some of your names are now in my predictive text. It's just that when I message, I can't see the thread any more so I have to remember who said what!
Oh, and I don't flip, I bookmark. I press the 3 dots beside the last message I read and the next time I come on the app, it's message #1.

@twinkletoes I loved going for my acupuncture. It was quite expensive though. I'm in Scotland but she messaged to say she'd be starting again mid July. There would be no waiting room and we'd both wear masks. She usually leaves the room while the needles are in, so she'd increase the amount of time out too. You're allowed to listen to stuff though so I guess you could have a fertility meditation or something while you were alone? It improved so many things for me and it was so relaxing.

PinkFlamingoGirl · 01/06/2020 15:13

@hoping41 thanks for the tip about the bookmark!

Spoke to Hubby and he is just home from work. Said he is going for a quick shower then it's game time... I'm lying here like a desperado waiting whilst he gets sorted...😂😂😂

I've just actually typed that then decided no, so I've got up and moved. I'm now sitting reading my book (typing this on Mum's net) acting like I could take it or leave it. I'm all...oh yeah whatever...but really I'm thinking you bloody better still be up for it when you come out that shower 😂😂

Tilly1403 · 01/06/2020 15:27

@jessmcg @notyetamumbuttrying @Fifol I've also read the impatient women's book. Short and snappy, I think I finished it over two days. Made me feel like wow other people are as crazy as me! Or maybe we're not crazy at all, and the totally relaxed patient ones are the crazy people!

Fifol · 01/06/2020 15:33

@tilly1403 yeah definitely makes you feel like you're not the only obsessive woman ttc!!

jessmcg · 01/06/2020 15:53

@Tilly1403 @Fifol I know! It gave me so much comfort! 🤣😁
I have terrible heartburn today. That serves me right for rose in the sun and a burger or two yesterday. Heartburn + sunburn = unideal.
Can’t wait to have clarity on this cycle so I can just move on!

Posy1 · 01/06/2020 16:13

@Hoping41 - brill, thanks for the bookmark tip - will def help me, I get so lost. I was thinking of trying acupuncture too. Do your acupuncturist practice Chinese medicine too?

@PinkFlamingoGirl - your DTD stories are making me laugh. Def need a good laugh today.

@Tilly1403 Its def the patient, calm ones are the crazy ones. 😂😂

Twinkletoes85 · 01/06/2020 16:36

I’ve just heard back from the acupuncturist I contacted and he said at the moment in England they aren’t allowed to reopen until the council the governs them agrees ppe etc. This could be tomorrow or it could be two months time, no one really knows.

I’m anxiously waiting for my kindle to finish charging so I can crack on with the book!

@pinkflamingogirl ha ha, I definitely think being relaxed is the way to go. I hope your 'distracted' technique worked.

@twinkletoes that's a shame. It must be different this side of the border. What about a fertility massage? There's videos on YouTube that you can do to yourself and my acupuncturist used to give me them in my treatment - never after ov though.

Hoping41 · 01/06/2020 17:50

Oh, and bookmarking is a life saver. You just have to remember to keep doing it. Glad I could be of help 😀

Twinkletoes85 · 01/06/2020 18:04

@Hoping41 I didn’t realise you could do those yourself. I will have a google for next cycle. Thanks ☺️

jessmcg · 01/06/2020 18:08

@Hoping41 neither did I! Looking them up pronto for next cycle...

notyetamumbuttrying · 01/06/2020 18:12

I can't wait to read it @Tilly1403 but waiting to see if af shows or not and act like it's my treat for the month along with 20 ov sticks 😂
Love the bookmark trick and you're right @Hoping41 it is about remembering to actually use it each time 😆
4dpo for me today. Anyone testing on the 11th? That'll be day before Af due for me.

Hoping41 · 01/06/2020 18:12

Yes, it's quite easy. Just make sure you don't do it in your 2ww. You shouldn't be digging around in there during that time. I'd hate to make anyone miss an opportunity.

Aokbaby · 01/06/2020 19:21

@jessmcg hi there, how are you getting on? I'm in the same position as you, af is due on Fri also. Had some light spotting today when using toilet, bit crampy too. Praying that it's not af rearing her ugly head early😩

Missgoldilocks · 01/06/2020 19:52

Hey ladies, I've been meaning to purchase that impatient woman's guide book 😂 haven't got round to it but I really should! Hope everyone is okay? I spoke to docs today and she's booked me in for my referral for January!! Bloody January!! Omg, I think if we've had no luck by August I'll try and go private to check my tubes!

Where is everyone in their cycle? Are some people due af?

@PinkFlamingoGirl I can see you're at the "fun" part 😂

notyetamumbuttrying · 01/06/2020 20:26

Eek January is a while off @Missgoldilocks how long you been ttc then? We're on month 9 now. I'm due on on the 12th so will test day before most likely. How about you?

Twinkletoes85 · 01/06/2020 20:28

Sorry to change the subject a bit. Although I am excited and I want a baby there’s also times when I’m terrified, does anyone else have those moments?

Like I’ll be doing something totally selfish like spending the entire day binging Netflix and I think, I might not be able to do this for much longer! Then I get a bit scared at how much of a change it will be and if I’m too selfish for a baby.

I have cats (I know not the same) but a lot of my plans revolve around their food times (no weekend lie ins!) and when they need jabs etc etc and just making sure they’re looked after so I know I’m responsible enough to take care of a living thing but sometimes I have a right panic about a baby

OP posts:
Posy1 · 01/06/2020 20:32

@Missgoldilocks just wondering is your GP going to refer you to the assisted conception unit or for bloods, scans, semen tests etc in Jan?
I'm CD 1 today unfortunately.

Fifol · 01/06/2020 20:59

@Missgoldilocks I'm 12dpo so hoping there will be no sign of af over the next few days!

@Twinkletoes85 I totally get that. We will never pop out and do something spontaneously again once we have a baby but I'm so ready at the same time. Don't get me wrong everyone needs their me time including parents but I've done everything to suit myself up to now and I've loved being selfish but I'm ready to give my heart over to children and let my life revolve around them for a bit!

Fifol · 01/06/2020 21:01

@Twinkletoes85 also meant to say that is one thing I tell myself though is while ttc embrace those Netflix days or whatever and enjoy it while we can!

notyetamumbuttrying · 01/06/2020 21:13

I get that all the time @Twinkletoes85! I think god, we couldn't just spend all day walking around by the river or enjoying a quiet picnic for two. We too spend all day in bed sometimes or just lounging about. Especially when we're still in our one bed flat! We wanted to be well on our way to selling up by now but COVID has put that on hold!

Missgoldilocks · 01/06/2020 21:36

@notyetamumbuttrying I'm cd2 lol been off contraception since April last year but actively trying itll be 11 months now. Good luck!!

@Posy1 sorry to hear that I'm cd2 do cycle buddies it is x I had bloods and semen checked already, I'm getting referred for tube checking due to past history x

@fifol fingers crossed the witch stays away xx

@Twinkletoes85 yes I do lol I have a 9 year old so I'm at the point of ease with him. Having a baby is no joke lol and you and your partner end up getting wound up with each other, for example, I know I'll be up at 6am with the bubba while my OH will still be sleeping because he is not a morning person but itll still piss me off because its haaaard when you're tired and you've been woken up like 3 times in the night and then you're up at 6am lol its hard but it's soooo worth it ❤️❤️ you'll be fine, your whole world shifts into a different focus once you have one. It's learning life all over again, at least that's what it feels like. That might sound weird lol
