morning mums, any of oldies pregnant yet?

decided to buy the ovulating kit, and give it a year. periods still every 28 days so maybe will get lucky. always hope.!!

mersey; never give up hope, even if periods all over the place. as long as your having them, thats all that matters. im 44, will give it a year. women have babies at 45/46 no problem. the only reason you dont see it alot is because most women this age dont want kids!

I conceived four times between 39 and 41 in under six cycles. But miscarried them all. Now it's six months since my last m/c, and I haven't conceived. Getting all paranoid that something has changed within, and that I'm not ovulating. My periods are regular, which is a good sign, but I don't get the EWCM I used to. Going to try evening primrose oil and agnus castus this month, and may resort to taking my temps, though this sounds as though it can be misleading...

Herbaceous - just to let you know to tread with care if you are considering Agnus Castus.

I'm 41 and ttc and took Agnus Castus - and it really messed my cycles up taking them anywhere up to 36 days (having previously been 28) and one of the 4 months I was taking it I didn't ovulate at all.

Since stopping the Agnus Castus my cycles have gone back to 28 days and I have ovulated the last two months. I know some women swear by the stuff but it was not for me.

I've found evening primrose oil very good for helping with the production of EWCM and grapefruit juice also helps.

What's EWCM - I know what CM is but EW?

Report
Nancy66 · 04/10/2007 15:50

It means Egg white cervical mucus - that's the fertile type you get around the time of ovulation - so called because it resembles egg white

herb; sorry to hear about m/c.

meysey · 06/10/2007 19:59

thanks for the positivity xyzabc and herb sorry to hear about your MCs

I'm an evening primrose oil fan too and have taken it since seeing it recommended on Mumsnet recently. It made a big difference to EWCM which had been erratic.

Not quite sure how to phrase this but does anyone else find the 'we have to have sex now' a bit of a pain, and how do you get over it?

Sex is wonderful , and I really, really enjoy it , but I don't like the "it's day 14, my mucus is like eggwhite, so come on big boy give it to me now' aspect of it and TBH I don't think Dh finds it the best turn on in the world.

And this is only our second month TTC!!

xyzabc · 14/10/2007 14:26

lillibet i know exactly what you mean

dh has no idea im ttc but is getting a bit suspicious that i only want sex 2 days a month. (ive got the ovulation kit)

Well done XYZABC for keeping it under your hat.

It is a complete nightmare. I had one monitored cycle and amazingly (and unusually) everything was just perfect. The woman had warned me to seduce my husband and not tell him about the OV. But he knew I was going for the scan so I felt I had to tell him. Anyway suffice it to say that he felt under pressure and could not perform, a big row ensued and the opportunity was missed. A real b*** as AF things have been erratic and rubbish ever since.

Am now not using any OV prediction stuff to try and avoid stress, and relying on EWCM and gently stepping things up a bit if possible then.

I have read though that it is pretty appointment to do lots of BD in the week leading up to OV as well as on the day itself.

Sorry no tips,only moans!

Can I please join you ladies?

I am "only" 34, haven't used any contraception since 2004 and had one BFP which ended in a m/c in August .

kd73 - we're not ageist -

sorry about your mc.

I actually did a test at weekend after chatting to someone on another thread, my last period was only a day and a half long and i'm on day 16 of a 28 day cycle and still haven't got any EWCM

It was negative tho'

xyzabc - will he be pleased when it happens?? (please not the posotive when and not if)

hi kd73. love to have a younger mum on here. i think most of us are over 40, but no problem. (sorry about your m/c}

lillibet/mersey

not telling dh as he worries about me. ive had 2 m/c in last 3 years. one at 20 weeks. he thinks enough is enough and as we have children he cant understand why i want to put myself through any more pain. {was heartbroken after m/c} plus im 44.

but just want to try one last time. i know its risky but women do have babies at our age. if i do get pregnant, not sure how he will react. wont tell him until about 5 months! (im not slim, could get away with it}

I've just had my blood test results back - FSH 4.8, LH 3.0. Apparently these show 'good ovarian reserve'. Yay! So, plenty of them left, just perhaps a bit duff...

Report

His sperm are mighty. We've conceived four times together, but I've miscarried them all . Which is why I want a magic way of knowing what my egg quality is like...

Those are really good blood test results

We're the same age and my FSH was 6.9 which I was told was pretty good for old birds of our age - so 4.8 is amazing.

How were your progesterone levels? I know that low progesterone can sometimes be blamed for miscarriage.

Report
herbaceous · 15/10/2007 17:25

I thought it was a pretty good result too!

I don't know about my progesterone levels. My last three miscarriages all got beyond 10 weeks, and the last two, at least, were due to trisomies, so I suspect that progesterone isn't a problem.

However, when/if i next get up stick, I'm going to go and sit in the consultant's office until she prescribes progesterone, heparin and anything else that could possibly help...
