Have any of you considered using herbs or accupuncture to give you an extra boost? For some people these methods can be very helpful and worth a look at.

Hi, yes,I have. I am taking Agnus Castus and a multivitamins on a regular basis. I've had reflexology in the past and I am now considering acupuncture too. Hope everyone here is doing well

You asked for more success stories: had DS1 at 39, conceived when I was 38 in the first month of trying; had DS2 at 41, conceived at 40 after 6 months of panic! My top tips are sex every day excluding during your period, and both of us eating pumpkin seeds every day (something I read).

Good luck to all xx

I am 44 and have a 6 mo conceived 3 months after a mmc when I was 43. We weren't actively TTC either and only had sex once in those 3 months- not even mid-cycle

Thank you a feel a bit more cheery and hopeful for reading you stories.
My DS stated school last week so I'm a bit emotional here at the moment. Must go and pounce on DH

Taking charge of your fertility is a book. Sorry for delay in post.

Also used acupuncture - forgot to mention that.

Good luck all you ladies who are ttc. x

I was age 40 and had mmc. Had ds1 at 42 and ds2 at 43!
It took 13 months to get pg with ds1 and there were many months where I sat in the toilets crying down the phone to dp cos AF had arrived.
So when he finally arrived we said no time to waste if we want another as time was not on my side (DP is toy boy - and got pg first time of trying when ds1 was 7m.
Don't give up my friend had dd at 37, decided to try again and its taken 18 months but she is 41 and baby no 2 due in April.
It is harder and takes longer to conceive over 40, my gp said I am extremely unusual to have two so close together at 42 and 43.
Keep going there are more older mums on mnet than anywhere else - I live in a place where teenage motherhood is more the norm and I'm often old enough to be the mother of the other mothers at the playgroups etc round here!

So inspirational to read the messages from all of you. I am 40 and ttc no 1, one early mc earlier this year but doctor says there is no reason I can't get there but have to be patient, not so easy.

I had never considered more than one but now reading the story from Flibberty I may change my ambitions !

good luck to all of you ttc ..

dd 18, ds1 14, ds2 11 next month

But first with this dh!

but if it happens he will describe it as his fourth

I do just feel very old at times when I think about a new baby

and it all seems such a long time ago

Good for you, I am sure it will all come back to you quickly enough !! the good and the bad bits I guess.

that was my concern feeling old, but I will feel much older in 10 years time if I didn't try and its too late...

Hi. Is there room for another? I'm 41. I have 23yr DS, 21yr DD, 1yr DS. A bit of an age gap there, I know. But we're ttc again. I've had 2 mc's in the last 6 months - 1 at 6 weeks and 1 at 10 weeks. We're hoping 3rd times a charm, and the next time will be lucky. I'm feeling pretty hopeful, as DD and 1yr DS are both July babies, seems to be that Oct to Nov is a good time for me to get pregnant. Not sure why. But hopefully that means I'll have a healthy BFP soon!

It's nice to see this group. I felt ancient when I saw someone on another thread talking about how at 35, she felt she might be too old.

The problem is that as I know you all know the symptoms of pg and a period are so similar. This morning my boobs have been tender.

I really don't want to do a test until i'm about a fortnight over because I coem from the generation where you don't test immediatley!!

And a late period is so much easer to deal with than a miscarriage

Report
hedgepig · 28/09/2007 10:20

Hi Lilibet I know what you mean about not testing, if the bean is going to stick it will be there in 2 weeks and the hormones will be much higher giving you a very clear answer.

I also that this not checking principle with lottery tickets!! I'm sure that will work soon too!

I am a down the bottom of this tread I'm 41, one ds age 4 (just started school) and ttc since the beginning of this year.

Hi Lilibet, Triggles and Hedgepig. Just wanted to say hi to everyone and thank you again for making me not feel alone ! being over 40 'old' and ttc. I am off on holiday and wanted to wish Lilibet well, hopefully it will be testing time when I get back ! Hedgepig hope DS is enjoying his new school. Triggles, glad to hear its not just me who felt really ancient hearing someone feel old at 35, but can understand it. Good luck everyone.

Hello everyone. It's day 9 for me, the time is coming to do the deed... I am also charting on Fertilityfriend, being 46 doesn't leave much space for improvisation. But at the same time I try to take it easy. I have a wonderful 3.5 yr old, and I feel lucky to have had him at 42. How are you ladies?

Hi all. Can I join in. I'll be 42 in November and we are ttc no. 3. Have been trying since May and have now decided to try acupuncture to see if this may help. I seriously think I'm mad as ds has just started school full time but I can't shake the broodiness. Fingers crossed for us all.

Glad to see more people finding the thread!

I'm just waiting for AF at this point. Or ovulation. I'm happy with either, honestly. I had m/c in August and am just waiting for my cycle to get normal again.

How's everyone else doing today?

just dropping in to wish you luck

its not all doom and gloom after 40, i conceived after TTC for 1 month at 41 and on first cycle at nearly 43. Had healthy babies both times

it doesn happen honestly

been lurking, now saying hi.
soon to be 43. had no problem conceiving 2 DCs, at 35 and 38 but now hormones all over the place (been tested) so just a miniscule chance of getting a no.3 ... wish I'd packed them in closer together...

been trying for 14 months.. had figured it might take four conceptions to get a baby, based on previous MCs... so not even getting past first base is really sad.. though think I am a bit old for hut of doom...

two friends had their first at 42, and I know someone who had their first at 46... so it certainly can happen... but they didn't have erratic periods to contend with...

good luck to you all!
