New ttc no1 thread.

BTW if anyone knows where those no1 babies are I'd like to know! If I was a real detective I think I would have been sacked by now!

Not so much my stamina as poor DH's think he's getting a bit sick of it being a requirement though so I need to come up with a more targeted plan this month I think..

TTC no one - AF has just arrived so I'm CD1 on cycle 3 - hoping it's going to be third time lucky!!

Just to let you know ladies that temping is quite good as it means that you're almost let down gently by a low temp in the morning rather than by AF arriving.. it also means that I'm not kidding myself that early AF is implantation bleeding - like I did last month - I was a woman possessed!!

Millie26 · 08/08/2007 14:42

I've started to keep a diary for when we have sex (v romantic) and also what cd Im on. Really desperate for period to come so I can start again. Grr.

Do you guys keep track too in any way? What other info do you think is useful? People seem to take their temperature a lot - can you do that with a normal thermometer?

Millie26 · 08/08/2007 14:44

ooo...spooky - we must be psychic! Soes the temp go up when you conceive?

Haha, well done dh! Oo I'm crossing my toes for third time lucky for you.

toomuchtimeonline · 08/08/2007 14:57

I keep a secret note of everything - LH surges, sex, CM and temps (I haven't told DH as it feels very obsessive and clinical and I don't want anyone in real life to know what a maniac I am!)

Your temperature rises after you ovulate (so no good for knowing when to have sex - hence I use ovulation predictions kits) however your temperature stays high for 10-14 days depending on your LH period and then if you're not pregnant it drops back down just before AF arrives - therefore if it stays high and you are late then you are likely to get a bfp!!

toomuchtimeonline · 08/08/2007 15:00

p.s. my temp only goes up .2 degrees celcius so you need a thermometer which is quite sensitive. I have a digital one which beeps when it is ready so I can do it whilst half asleep (you need to do it first thing in the morning) and it stores the temp and I can go back to sleep and then check it later! It irritates Dh though because it sounds like his alarm

Millie26 · 08/08/2007 15:17

Oh wow, that sounds really hi tech - I want one You are mega organised with all of that, I feel inspired.

Have been advised to drink grapefruit juice but, like you toomuch, also dont want bf (boyfriend not best friend) to think that I am obsessive so subtley introducing "grapefruit with raspberry" and "grapefruit with orange" into the fridge.

He's like, "why have you bought grapefruit juice? (looks at receipt) Three pound twenty??? (looks at me as if I have just turned into a pumpkin) Is this from the joint account??".

Can tell the next few months are going to be joyous

PS - Shouldnt make bf out to be a big meany, he is really lovely. He is disproportionately anal about the joint account though. Could be from that time I bought 16 packs of (freezable) Food Doctor bagels because they were buy one get one free and then only had enough money left for a bag of unwashed rocket.

toomuchtimeonline · 08/08/2007 15:21

So funny - physically laughing at the thought of trying to freeze 16 packs of bagels!!

I haven't tried any of the grapefruit and other remedies people keep mentioning - so I may try that this month! So come on girls - other than a healthy overall diet - what are your tips for me this month?

I know that some people find that temping and doing opks etc stresses them out but I find it quite therapeutic as it means I feel like I'm doing something and also i feel like i know exactly what's going on!

Millie26 · 08/08/2007 15:25

yeah....I never want to eat another bagel in my life, ha!

Looking forawrd to reading some tips! X

nomoremagnolia · 08/08/2007 15:54

Just a quicky - you should only drink grapefruit juice up until ov - it's supposed to help with the cm.

OP posts:
nomoremagnolia · 08/08/2007 15:55

as is vit B6 and evening primrose oil - all up to ov not after

toomuchtimeonline · 08/08/2007 15:56

Why is that nomore? Is it bad after ovulation?

graysongirl · 08/08/2007 15:59

Hi all

Sorry for lack of chat yesterday, stupid broadband went down just after I posted, typical...

Thanks for your advice though nomore its always good to hear about other stories, we are not alone (although don't mean that in an alien kind of way).

Hi Millie Glad to hear your all giddy about ttc, I remember the halycon days well .
Hi toomuch and anyone else who i've missed out.

Well been to clinic today, lovely nurse specialist who took lots of details and have got to have day 3, 23 and 27 bloods taken on my next cycle (as GP only took Day 23 which are neither use nor ornament without Day 3, stupid GP.)
DH having SA anaylisis on 29th August and then all results back for next clinic appointment with consultant together on... wait for it....
19th NOVEMBER!!!!. WTF???
Will def be on phone asking for cancellations asap.

Anyway nurse did say she thinks I might get pg naturally before Nov as my cycles only just settled down in Feb after crazy 8 months of long then short cycles and then a whopping 11 week cycle. Have been fairly regular since Feb so will see how it goes. My self diagnosis is that I don't always ovulate and have a short luteal phase so Clomid maybe the answerf or me.
Nurse asked me if I was medically trained as was being V knowlegable, I am not at all its just thanks to MN!

Won't be posting much as am away over the next 2 weeks altough not abroad so might lurk and see how you are all doing x x

Millie26 · 08/08/2007 16:13

Hi graysongirl, that's great that the nurse thinks you could get pg before Nov!

I know you are right about being giddy, it will last until my period starts, then it'll be paranoia and obsession with implantation bleeding vs real period and why do my boobs hurt so much, must be a baby, which i had a couple of months ago and first wrote on here about.

Sorry, hope Im not being too annoying - none of my friends are into babies at all so really love MN for being able to share

toomuchtimeonline · 08/08/2007 16:14

Graysongirl - Sorry to hear about how long you have to wait for your tests - a day feels like a year when you're TTC so November must feel like a lifetime away!! Hopefully it will happen for you before November anyway - you hear all about people who get their bfp while they are waiting for an appointment.. fingers crossed!

toomuchtimeonline · 08/08/2007 16:15

Don't worry Millie - I'm just the same - lets hope the giddiness lasts until we actually get our BFPs!!

Millie26 · 08/08/2007 16:17

Woo hoo!

graysongirl · 08/08/2007 16:23

Thanks Millie and Toomuch, it does feel like forever at the momnet but after new term starts in Sept I'll be so busy that hopefully won't have time to stress about it.

Don't worry about your enthusiamsm its not annoying, its how it should be . I would try and say don't get too carried away but I remember that its not really possible!!!
I also got really obsessed about implantation bleeds, not sure why, think its because I had never heard of it before and was searching for any sign that I might be pg. Apparently its not that common though not sure of statstics.

I don't even do pg tests now until I'm at least a week late, been disappointed so many times and it gets really expensive!!

graysongirl · 08/08/2007 16:24

Just realised I sounded like an old fart just then, sorry

Millie26 · 08/08/2007 16:27

yeah, that's the thing, it does all cost so much.

I'm a researcher and I just cant help looking up any and every possible symptom and finding stats and likelihoods and reasons and I drive myself crazy!!

Have genuinely only been trying tc for a couple of days but we have been pretty casual about babies for a few months which is why I have been through a few am I/aren't I situations!

Lots of people on here say not thinking about it too much is the best way so hopefully after September you will find that a bit easier.

graysongirl · 08/08/2007 16:34

Symptom spotting is the worst as so many of my period due symptoms are the same as possible pg symptoms so I try really hard to ignore it!!!
Easier said than done though

Also just remembered that nurse said to bd evry other day from Day 12 to Day 23 due to varied ovulation, Crikey!!! Usually go from about Day 18 so thats a few extra baby sex dates for me and DH, he loves it really

Must sign off now as got house type jobs to do before tea, how exciting .
Speak in a week or so, happy bding everyone!!

toomuchtimeonline · 08/08/2007 17:08

Catch you all tomorrow - I'm off to try and make tea..

mistlethrush · 08/08/2007 22:34

It's been really busy on here since the new thread started - clearly good title!

Graysongirl - sorry its taking so long to get appointment - I remember it being rather like that in terms of poss IVF dates etc - only gets different after mp on possible follow up (Kensgirl, please note!). At least you've got things starting to be investigated - that's the main thing. If you're like me, you might find that it takes until the day before you're due to go to the clinic to start whatever treatment when you discover BFP - at which point the fun starts!

Hi everyone. Its good to see that everyone's generally very positive again. Keep up the good work!

nomoremagnolia · 09/08/2007 09:22

Hi all
Sorry I didn't hang around yesterday, was v. busy! B6, EPO and grapefruit juice are all supposed to help with CM and to improve your LP. I can't remember if it was bad to take them after ov or just not neccesary. MrsMcJr was the one to ask, maybe I'll have a look back over the old threads to find out. Glad to see you all upbeat, though don't worry about the long wait GG as it'll come round soon enough and at least you're in the system. My next appt at hosp. is for Febuary 08 but hopefully I won't need it , so by that logic there should be loads of cancellations. I went to GP in Febuary (07) to start investigations and it wasn't until June that my AF started on a weekday so I could have day 1 blood test. That was frustrating!

mistlethrush · 09/08/2007 09:29

A brazil nut a day for you and dh - selenium's good... (only aim for one or two though as quite high fat, and that's bad)

toomuchtimeonline · 09/08/2007 12:32

Morning Girlies!! How are we all feeling this fine sunny day!!

I'm feeling a lot better today so a lot chirpier - even feeling positive about starting a new month of TTC!

Did anyone see the story in the paper about the woman who just had identicial triplet girls - they reckon that a blow she received when she was 6 weeks pregnant caused the fertilised egg to split into 3 - how amazing is that!!?
